Futuristic The Quiet - Characters

Blemmigan

Illusion is eternity. Machines will live forever.
WHO IS OUT THERE?

To all human survivors
If you are willing to fight back against these monsters, the "Ravenous", I need your strength. I have valuable information about our enemy. If you think you can help us all take back our lives, then meet me at Upper Grove Park, Saturday December 16th, by the fountain at midday.

Someone from a small travelling group has sent out a message, scrawled on paper left in houses around the city, hoping that somebody will read it. You play a human who has found this message, and for one reason or another you show up to the meeting-place. This is where the RP starts.

For now, just one character per person, please! I have plans for us to take on something a little different, if this works out.
Please go ahead and add more fields than the ones provided if you'd like.

Name:
Age:
Gender:
Appearance: Image or description. Or both. I'd rather you not use an anime or cartoon image: the simplified style means they look too similar to each other. Photos, sketches, paintings and other artworks are grand though.

Personality: A few sentences. What makes them tick? How do they react under pressure, or with new people? Are they a leader, or follow commands? Do they panic easily? That kind of thing. Likes and dislikes would go here.

History before the Quiet: A brief recounting of their life up until the point when the world stopped. What family did they have? Friends? What was their occupation? Plans for the future?

Skills: Whether from their work or hobbies, or just various useful talents. Strengths and weaknesses would go here.

Weapons/Equipment: Okay, so they're unlikely to have ornate katanas and submachine guns. But they can use whatever they may have found, or owned already if it suits their background. And with luck, in the near future, they can take some weapons and alien technology from the Ravenous armies themselves.

Ravenous killed?: Have they managed to kill any Ravenous yet? What kind? As a note: I'd still rather nobody has killed any Adepts... yet. The war ain't that easy.

Abilities: If they killed any Ravenous, and if they gained anything from it.

Progress since the Quiet: Tell the story of their journey, from when they found themselves alone in the world up until they decided to attend the meeting. The length of it is up to you.

Lu Innes
23

Telepathy (receiving)
& Perception
lucy-cates-1.6_f.jpg

SELF
Personality: Dependable, blunt, straightforward but spontaneous.

She likes to think that she worries about other people, but honestly isn't very good at expressing it if so. Lu doesn't sugar-coat things, and sometimes can end up being more rude or harsh than she might have intended. But even if tragedy strikes, she tends to get on with things rather than dwell on it, even if she would like to grieve. Life has to go on, now more than ever. Maybe later, the sheer enormity of things hits her, but she spends most of her time pressing on, trying to help out the other people she's started to think of as almost family. The fact that she has no idea what the end goal is? It's best not to focus on that. Just keep going.

Despite being dependable and determined, she is not suited to be a sole leader, and would wriggle her way out of it if it somehow fell onto her shoulders. It's much easier to aid from the sidelines, or perhaps give suggestions in the right places where it's needed. She's logical, too, but despite her straightforward attitude will often take actions which come from the heart rather than the brain, even if it puts herself in danger. And then, usually, quietly berate herself for being an idiot.

STORY
History: Lu never went to university, despite hanging out with several friends who did. Instead she took the first job she could get-- working in a pharmacy-- and excelled at it. Her family were as surprised with this as she was, as she had never before shown an interest in that kind of thing, but it seemed to really suit her.

At school she was not really concerned with lessons and exams, and although she was too level-headed to be a problem child, she was hardly a model student or an ideal daughter. But her mother had her hands full as a single parent to Lu's severely autistic younger brother, and so she took it upon herself to be out of the way as much as she could manage. She moved from friend group to friend group, having free time and carefree attitude enough to be considered part of the crowd.
Only in the last year or so did she knuckle down and focus on making something of herself, and only just moved into a place of her own.
STRENGTH
Skills: A rough but useful knowledge of medicines and chemicals. Her work brought out the logical and reasoning skills she never knew she had, combined with her ability to keep a level head in most situations.
She's also in pretty good shape: not notably muscular, but she used to run every day. Lu may not be notably strong, but she has speed and endurance.

Weapons/Equipment: Usually it depends on what's to hand. Most often she will use clubs or sticks, leaving any knives they find for others to defend themselves with. Besides, she prefers not to get too close to the creatures trying to kill her, instead sneaking up behind it and putting all of her weight into a blow to the head. The second Ravenous she killed, she broke a pool cue over its skull, which both amused her and was surprisingly effective. For all that they are immune to gunfire, their tolerance to blunt force is less impressive.

As of now, on her way to the meeting-place, she is unarmed, trusting in her ability to detect the Ravenous before she has to fight.

Ravenous killed: Two Unmarked, as part of a group effort. She has helped in defending the group from others, but only happened to deal the killing blow on two of them.

Abilities: "Perception" and "Telepathy (receiving)". Both at a basic level, but enough to help keep her small group alive so far.
SINCE THE QUIET
She wandered around the city aimlessly for maybe a week, travelling aimlessly from building to building. It took until then for the situation to really hit her. Her mother and brother were gone. The life she'd been working up to had been discarded. And it looked like they weren't coming back. That was more of a shock to her than the monsters that she was running from.

Soon after, and with nothing else to do but keep walking, Lu encountered the group of people including Mott, a man trying to research and catalogue the new reality of their world. His methodical approach appealed to her, and besides, she didn't really want to be alone and feel useless any longer. So she joined their group, of people who couldn't fight or survive on their own, and did her best to help out.

As the number of Ravenous in the city increased, it became more difficult to run. The younger, fitter adults would fight while the others escaped, four or five of them at first. Several died, whether from the creatures killing them directly, or from the direct connection to the hive mind. Lu was the first in their group to kill a Ravenous and survive, and from it gained her ability of telepathy. Hearing the commands issued to the armies at first drove her to distraction, jolting her out of her thoughts whenever she happened to intercept an order. But she spoke to Mott about it, so that he could write it down, and talking about these things as a scientific curiosity seemed to help. And more than that, it could help the rest of the group.

By the time Mott had sent out a message to gather potential fighters, and the date he'd chosen approached, she had more of a handle of the two abilities she now had. And despite her wish to keep the whole group safe, she couldn't let him attend this meeting by himself. What if it had attracted the Ravenous, or violent groups of other humans? He wasn't a fighter by any means, just a researcher.

Aside from that, she had to admit she was curious if anyone would turn up, and who. Maybe she was finally angry at these monsters for taking away her family and her life, and wanted something done about it.

Name:
William Rundell Haus Code

Age:

19

Gender:

Male

Appearance:

932c57b376b123495fca9df88facde34.jpg

Personality:
William is a kind young man. He is very gentle and polite, his well-mannered demeanour and caring opinions often surprising those who have been braving the harsh new world with the "dog eat dog" ideal. Never one to rush to violence, William is very adept at remaining calm and rational in a situation and is actually quite useful for planning and strategy, his extraordinarily intelligent brain being quite powerful with the whole "thinking of good ideas" thing.

History before the Quiet:
William grew up with his upper-middle class family consisting of his mother, father and sister in the wealthier part of town. Taking school very seriously even from a young age, William soon found he had great academic aptitude and so he pursued his studies well into college before The Quiet hit. Never having expected such a foreboding and eerily frightening event, William simply was not prepared for a literal apocalypse and so he was easily captured by the roaming Ravenous that searched him out. Too in shock and without fighting experience to put up much resistance, William was taken away to the territory of a Ravenous group owned by the Black faction. There they forced William to follow them into battles as some kind of mascot, parading him out into the designated field like a trophy to which they boasted to the other armies with. It was only with the defeat of the Black army William was assigned to did he finally free himself.

Skills:
Painting, creative writing, chess, knowledge on a fair amount of academic arts such as maths, the sciences, history, geography and English studies.

Weapons/Equipment:
He has a half full water bottle and a phone which is currently dead and slightly cracked.

Ravenous killed?:
William has never actually "battled a Ravenous, but he did managed to push an Adept off a building (albeit with himself following it off the edge), thusly killing it.
((It's cool guys, I'm not getting a cool ability from the getgo with this, it's just for current concept and character development reasons.))

Abilities:
Although he has killed an Adept, no obvious abilities have been observed from William and he himself believes that he was largely unaffected positively by the ordeal. In truth, he has gained an ability, although it currently lies dormant within him now.

Progress since the Quiet:
William had pushed an Adept Ravenous off a ledge, but in doing so he had fallen with it. Landing on its now-dead body, William felt the intense Transference of... something, as it entered his brain, to which the side of his head sported a brand new cut along it. When he woke up, William realised he could no longer see. And he had no idea what had happened prior, up until before his capture was a blur at best. But his lack of vision was more concerning to him, what had that monster done to him?

William had walked for a few hours away from the site of the Battlefield where the battle between two Ravenous factions took place (Black and Red, he thinks). Being completely unable to see, William has not made it far and is now currently lying on a bench in some park, hoping that someone friendly somehow finds and helps him.

Don't

Name: Elmore Pontelli
Nickname: Elm, or El.
Gender: Female
Age: Freshly 22, Happy Birthday Elmore!
Sexuality: Fluid
Eye Color: Blue
Hair Color: Dyed white, naturally a dull, dirty blonde.
Height: 5'2
Weight: 107lbs
Description: Elmore's frame is relatively small, at least smaller than the average woman. She lacks in quantity when it comes to the more sexualized features of the female body, but the shortage compliments her size. Her canvas colored face is rounded into a soft oval and painted with touches of blues and reds and browns. Her eyes are big and almond shaped, but lack any form of youthful innocence. Her bottom lip swells bigger than the top, which curves as Cupid pulls the string to his bow. Her hair is whispy and cloud like. It's kept short, curling inwards at the bottom. For the past few years Elmore has had a sort of tired, downtrodden face, although her stoney eyes always fail to match the rest of her facial features.

Make

Personality:
INTJ "The Architect"
"Simultaneously the most starry-eyed idealists and the bitterest of cynics, a seemingly impossible conflict."

Strategic, Analytical, Determined, Sensitive
Elmore is a thinker. Perhaps this makes her seem overly judgmental, detached and arrogant, but someone with her intellectual capacity might be justified. She, in her regular life, excelled. Her intellectual pursuits may have been led succesfully by her sense of willpower and openmindness. Elmore may display a dash of self-serving, but overall she means well. Those cannot keep up Elmore's intellectual processes or even yet, don't see the point of them, may permanently lose her respect. Elmore finds authority irrelivant, and believes that everything should remain open to reevalutaion. This girl's train of throught may ride about unorthodox tracks, but traditions and rules are simply too binding. However superior she may seem with her thirsy for knowledge, Elmore can be defined as turbulent. She is in a constant struggle to do more, to have more, to be more. While this may eventually lead to Elmore achieving what she desired to achieve, it is both emotionally and physically exhausting.

Name: Silas Romano

Age: 23

Gender: Male (he/him)

Height/Weight: 5'8" | 157 lbs

Personality: Silas is hard-headed and hard at hearing - as well as a victim of a severe case of selective hearing. Silas is strong-willed and adventurous, not to mention gullible. He's also athletic and pretty hot-headed. He's definitely not the brightest tool in the shed and he can't fight worth a damn, but he can chuck a good rock or two with pinpoint accuracy! He is kind and brave, but lacks an incredible amount of finesse and experience. He is a quick learner, but only when he wants to be.

History: Silas was born and raised in an occultic orphanage for the majority of his life. He was born near deaf, if not completely so, but fortunately his guardian outfitted him with a pair of hearing aids soon after birth that enhanced his hearing up to the standard amount for normal people. The head of the orphanage was an extremely conservative woman, depriving the children of any contact with the outside world and grooming them to become her workers. To the woman, they were free slaves. Silas always had a strange fascination - though maybe it was more like an obsession - with the world beyond the confines of those walls. When he was younger, he thoroughly believed that there was simply nothing out there, but he wouldn't be satisfied until he could see the nothing for himself. He hated being chained down and restricted. He felt like he was a prisoner in his own home and he couldn't stand it.

Eventually, with the disappearance of the headmistress and many of the orphanage's guards, Silas finally ventured outside for himself. He knows little of the outside world, but loves every bit of "freedom" it provides, even if his life is at risk every moment he is up there. Clearly he wasn't wrong when he thought that there was nothing beyond the walls.

Skills: He has great aim. Doesn't know a lick about fighting beyond throwing a punch here, a kick there, but excels at physical tasks. Manual labor is what he does. He may not know a lot about, well, anything, but if it's any sort of hands-on activity Silas is all for that shit

Weapons/Equipment: Just his clothes and hearing aids. Doesn't even have shoes.

Ravenous killed: N/A

Abilities: N/A

Progress since The Quiet: Silas, having been closed off from the world, did not find it odd to see so few people out in the world. He wondered where the people that disappeared from the orphanage went, but didn't have enough mental focus to bother searching for an answer. Silas had been exploring the Nothing, enjoying taking in new discoveries with an ally when they came across the note.

Misc:
- Silas is about as dull as the rocks he throws, so he relies pretty heavily on his instincts and luck
- He loathes wearing shoes and often walks around barefoot. He loves feeling the different textures of the world with his feet.
- He cried the first time he saw rain. And the sunrise. And the sunset. And the changing seasons...
- He is deathly terrified of the ocean and flying
- Excellent connoisseur of rocks. Yes, yes, he considers it one of his talents
- Can read and write very little.

Repurposing this character for this rp since the other never started! Tried to keep the background for him pretty similar so it might sound a bit off, but I'll go through and change things further sometime later.

Name: Skylar Bugiardo
Age: 30
Gender: Male (He/Him)
Appearance:
(Its my own artwork, couldn't really find a fella who looked like this. Mainly his hairstyle and weird suit lol)

59386fbc53f6cdbeca83e0a6e3ea243d.png

Personality: A sly, sarcastic man with extremely low empathy and sympathy for others. He uses his charisma and jokey nature to skate through life and manipulate the people around him for either his own gain or just the fun of it. When people see through his ruse or just don't click well with him, his jokes become more biting, rude and attacking. He becomes cold, distant, and wouldn't think twice about leaving that person behind just to not have to deal with them again.

History before the Quiet: Skylar, to put it simply, was a con man. He sold faulty products, stocks to companies that didn't exist, and any other cheap business schemes he could sell unsuspecting civilians on. And his way with words tended to work in his favor with the man making hundreds of thousands of dollars off his 'clients' who, by the time they figured out they'd been scammed, wouldn't be able to find the man (or woman or neither depending on the disguise of the day) would have already split town with all the cash he'd laundered.

Skills: Very good with words. He's very persuasive, especially with smaller minded individuals which tend to be his victims. He's not physically powerful by any means, but his mental strength is where he shines. If he couldn't talk himself out of a fight, he'd likely crumble and cower at the sight of the first punch. Whether he was actually fearful or if it were another ruse, however, is up for debate.

Weapons/Equipment: Nothing but a small pocket knife and a glock, just in case things don't turn out his way.

Ravenous killed?: N/A

Abilities: N/A

Other: He has a history with zenguardian zenguardian 's character, Silas Romano
