Dally brought her to New York with him, as he practically raised her, since their parents were never around. Of course, Dally tried his best, but a kid can't really raise another kid. When Emma got older she started helping Dally out a lot too though, like bailing him out of jail and helping him hussle pool games. Emma does her fair share of dirty deeds all by herself too, of course. She couldn't count the number of times she'd shoplifted, swindled someone, or rigged a game. Despite her bad habits, Emma does have a soft side, that not most people see. Dally had seen it only a handful of times, but mostly only Sodapop had seen it, she tried to remain strong around everyone else, but Sodapop is different. Emma, Steve, and Sodapop had always been close as they had practically grown up side by side. Emma dropped out of highschool at 14, but she's still pretty smart. Emma couldn't tell you a lick about some war in 1812, but she knew the basics of History, and anyway, she could read, write, multiply, and subtract, and that's all that matters. Emma is a waitress at the Dingo, and one of the best ones they have, at that. Having been raised by Dally she's a bit of a tomboy, and also a little messed up in the head, not only because of him but their parents. Dally did the best he could, but seeing people get killed in New York surely wasn't good for her. Emma will always be there for a fight or to help her friends, and she's very loyal to the gang. Their parents were always drunk or gone, so she and Dally had to look out for each other. When Dally was 8 and she was 7 their parents left them home alone for a whole week, and Dally stole them food at the store. By the time Emma was 9 their parents had completely abandoned them, and Dally went to Jail in thir absence,to the family lfet to Oklahoma. The same patterns occured in Oklahoma, but they were in a better place now, and they had friends, it wasn't them against the world anymore. By the time Emma was 14 they were completely on their own, and the Emma dropped out and got a job. Dally got his money his own ways, but it wasn't like Emma wasn't getting her own side money, so she didn't care. Now at 16 and 17 Emma and Dally are pretty much full-grown adults and Emma pays the mortgage on her parents home so she had a roof over her head. Dally switches between staying with Emma and a room at Bucks,she doesn't know why he doesn't stay at their paren't house full time, but she knows better than to ask Dall questions.
