Life in the kabuki theatre wasn’t completely bad though. He made a few friends that helped him through the stress of being in the kabuki stage industry. When Ayumu turned 18, when his 10 year contract was completed, he was released. The general experience still had him traumatized though, having to do countless erotica acting for kabuki and being a prostitute, never getting off easily if he made a single mistake.
After his contract was done, he decided to pursue the arts, like painting, a much more mild kind of hobby he could pick up without worrying about punishment. He continued honing his skill while being somewhat of a wanderer. Alma is not quiet and is very quick to express her dislike or concerns for something- she is not afraid to stand up for herself and what is right. This seems to cease slightly in terms of vampires, of whom she is extremely afraid of them killing her like they rumoured to do to her parents. However, she hides her fear behind a tough exterior. Her efforts to stop the wrong in the world are long halted by her devastating poverty to the point of barely having a home. Alma is stubborn and not at all controllable. She may seem lenient and easy to manipulate at first, but this is her own way to manipulate others and strike when they least expect her to. She usually has a plan up her sleeve, always logically calculating how to get out of a certain situation though failed to do so when it came to the vampires. Alma has a soft spot for animals, always coming to their rescue as she would for children- some of which she was hoping to have of her own but this seemed unlikely given the arrangement.
History:
Alma had been alone for as long as she had known, being a child out of a non-marital couple, she had been abandoned at an orphange, nuns shaming her for her background. It wasn’t long until, at 12 years old, she took a job chimney sweeping, relying on her boss to in turn provide her with shelter along with many others. Eventually the business shattered when child after child began to die from carbon monoxide poisoning and other respiratory problems that Alma wanted to avoid. After days of living in the streets, she turned to workhouses and when she figured the conditions were so awful, it was too late.

Life in the kabuki theatre wasn’t completely bad though. He made a few friends that helped him through the stress of being in the kabuki stage industry. When Ayumu turned 18, when his 10 year contract was completed, he was released. This is mostly why he is closed off; he couldn’t let personal feelings get in the way of his work.
Life in the kabuki theatre wasn’t completely bad though. He made a few friends that helped him through the stress of being in the kabuki stage industry. When Ayumu turned 18, when his 10 year contract was completed, he was released. The general experience still had him traumatized though, having to do countless erotica acting for kabuki and being a prostitute, never getting off easily if he made a single mistake.
After his contract was done, he decided to pursue the arts, like painting, a much more mild kind of hobby he could pick up without worrying about punishment. He continued honing his skill while being somewhat of a wanderer. At times he doubts himself and will withdraw into his thoughts, when doing so it seems he is not all there but it takes a strong person to pull him from the inner recesses of his mind. More than anything, he wishes to return home to his beloved India but the threat towards his family if he returns or being sold into slavery stays his hand.
History: Born in central India, Jatayu grew up under the influence of his parents and during a time of British colonial rule with the East India Trading company being a prominent presence within the colony and the strife with the rise of one empire and the fall of another. Throughout his childhood, Jatayu was kept within the palace of his family as they watched one empire begin to fall and the rise of another. Often a sickly child, he spent what time he could outside, always with servants and guards bustling about after him and his older siblings. Tensions in the country after the fall of the Maghul Empire caused his parents to be worried for their youngest heir, especially after the death of his middle brother, when he'd rushed out to to help some friends with a small rebellion and was killed. Afterwards, Jatayu was locked up in the palace under tighter security where he often wasn't seen and groomed to take over as Maharaja. When he turned nineteen his parents were invited to England and they quickly went, sweeping out of India in the dead of night though the journey on the ship was a restless one, his mother falling ill while on board. Upon entering the country, they spent a few days there and it was during that time that his parents were spoken to concerning the arrangement between the vampires and humans of England, something that didn't particularly concern the Maharaja and his wife. His parents were prepared to leave and go back to India when he suddenly came down with a bout of sickness that left him unable to travel. He was left behind as it was the only way he could get medical care...it turns out though that it was a ruse so the duke who invited the Maharaja there wouldn't have to give his child up to the humans, offering the sick Jatayu instead, though this information is sadly unknown to the Chadda family.

Afterwards, Jatayu was locked up in the palace under tighter security where he often wasn't seen and groomed to take over as Maharaja. When he turned nineteen his parents were invited to England and they quickly went, sweeping out of India in the dead of night though the journey on the ship was a restless one, his mother falling ill while on board. Upon entering the country, they spent a few days there and it was during that time that his parents were spoken to concerning the arrangement between the vampires and humans of England, something that didn't particularly concern the Maharaja and his wife. His parents were prepared to leave and go back to India when he suddenly came down with a bout of sickness that left him unable to travel. He was left behind as it was the only way he could get medical care...it turns out though that it was a ruse so the duke who invited the Maharaja there wouldn't have to give his child up to the humans, offering the sick Jatayu instead, though this information is sadly unknown to the Chadda family.

All the human realms were poor, yet slowly, the gift of industrialization spread out from the mountains in the north, trickling through the human realms, and Norta was fascinated. She and her friends joined a munition's factory, and began months of grueling work, towards the goal of supplying the army with enough guns to defeat the vampires once and for all.
Once she had come of age, she and many others among the city were conscripted into the army. At the Bloody Pass she would conduct most of her service, joining the ranks of humans to hold the aging Volkheim castle against the vampiric menace. She quickly learned a lot about vampires and herself, as the garrison lost dozens of men a day, and during sieges, per hour. The vampires were never able to reach the castle, as the state-of-the-art 12-pounder cannons held them back. Vampires didn't fear human infantry much, as rifles didn't damage them much, and specialized vampire hunters were few in number. However, they did fear artillery. Although a cannon's round wasn't made of any special vampire killing material, a shot could kill a vampire just as easily it could a man, simply due to the force of it. Thusly, grape shot was heavily in favor, and many of the remaining smoothbore cannons were filled with canister rounds exclusively, simply due to the fact that it could kill more vampires at shorter distance.
During one particular battle, the fort was breached by vampiric agents. With wicked, curved blades, the vampires cut down panicked human infantrymen, allowing their kin on the outside access to the walls. Locked in brutal melee with the vampires on the walls, Norta believed the end to be near. As things reached their worst, and her allies began to fall around her, a Hunter leapt into the fray. Wielding a massive, specialized crossbow, the Hunter lodged stakes in the hearts of any vampire foolish enough to step out of cover. Alongside the Hunter, the infantry advanced, able to, at heavy losses, repulse the vampiric onslaught. The hunter sparked her interest, and the young soldier looked into becoming one herself.
Norta grew stronger during her time in the army, but lost her old view of the world. For humans at least, survival was random. The world was cruel and horrible, but they'd best fight on, as death in battle was far better than its alternative. Only together and with iron will they could push back the vampires, and only by fully dedicating themselves to the new methods of warfare, could they win.
Norta began training as a hunter as the war grew worse for the humans. The war reached into the northern mountains of Karkaul, and soon enough, she was tasked with a smaller region known as the Giant's Fingers, known for its inhospitable climate, high altitude, and lethal terrain. It was here, in this rocky hillside, beneath its evergreen trees, that Norta would become infamous. The vampires were ill prepared for winter. Although the cold bothered them little, endless snow slowed their march, and blizzards isolated them from one another, kept them in little camps on the mountainside. It was then that Norta's men would strike. Vampires stumbled upon ambushes, landmines filled with silver dust and lead pellets, and even perished in avalanches caused by the defender's explosives. Isolated vampiric detachments were cut off from each other by snow, and ski-mounted infantry would cut them down with riflefire. Outpacing the vampires with ease, these mobile infantry were able to preform successful hit and runs against their foe with little risk of retaliation. Although rifle fire alone rarely killed them, the human's Molotov cocktails were much more successful. Vampiric losses reached a high in the Giant's Fingers, and Norta's men have held fiercely to this day.
However, now officials of the Human Kingdom have baited Norta into a false 'meeting'. They know that Norta would not be satisfied with the peach they had reached with their vampiric counterparts, and so had to silence Norta. If Norta were to be killed, there were risk of her regiment, or even the Karkauls as a whole rising up in revolt, as the woman had become a hero to them. Their only solution was to send her off as part of the deal, and lie to the whole Kingdom that she had made the sacrifice willingly to end the war. It was risky, but if she was far away, she wouldn't be able to interfere with their one shot for peace. Norta was aware of none of this until it was too late, but once she finds out... she'll do everything in her power to tear down this false peace and liberate her fellow hostages.

Nevertheless she is still a kind hearted person and goes out of her way to help others; you just need to get used to her bossy attitude first. [div class=para]As the second child of one of the many concubines of the Emperor, Liu lived a very privileged lifestyle. Unfortunately for her, her mother was a low ranking concubine (technically unofficial) and she already gave the Emperor his wanted son. She was essentially the "mistake" in the massive line of succession to the throne. Her mother heavily favored her brother but still made time to care for her. This would make her grow to be a bit of an attention hog as she fears that if she stops being remarkable, people will forget her. Though making scenes at evening tea parties and making trouble for the maids would only satisfy her for so long. From her position of lineage, there was little to no chance of ever becoming an important figure in court. The worthlessness of her position made her unmarriable to officials looking for a place in the court. The only thing she could provide was bloodline to the throne, which wouldn't be helpful since her position in the lineage was so strained. Therefore being pent up with the nasty court rumors and the stressful lifestyle, she fled to the glorified world of the white man. She managed to snag enough money to get her a small place and basic lessons in English. Henceforth she's been getting by doing odd jobs here and there around the city. Subsequently by doing some of the shady tasks she's done for some basic revenue, she's gotten herself into some trouble and got herself mixed up into the auctions. Liu has lived in England for about a year and can hold basic conversations.

It was expensive and a little beaten up, but playing the Guzheng has always been an escape from her troubles. It was probably one of the few positives she had during her court life. Another big reasons she left the court life was because she'd fallen in love with a high ranking general. Their time together was very bitter sweet as eventually he was pressured into the hand in marriage to higher ranking court lady. Liu and the general made a plan together to run away to Europe, but last moment he cracks under the pressure and leaves Liu for his arranged marriage. Liu was shattered by this because she'd truely thought that they would run away together. Rumors spread quickly around the court about their foiled plan and the court mistresses made a mockery out of her. Which unable to handle such stress, she goes through with her plan to escape by herself. ___Although quiet, calm, and unreadable on a normal occasion, Ezra can and in all likelihood be blunt with a monotonous expression when he speaks. In fact, mixing these two together, and he is often misperceived as cold-hearted because his honesty can come off as brutal. However, Ezra can sometimes do unexpectedly gentle things at times. Unlike most other vampires, Ezra does not discriminate on race, meaning he treats vampires and humans equally. That may not say much because he doesn't really involve himself with other people unless he is addressed.
___He is a generally serious person who does what he has to do. Often, he will go through any means to get what he needs done. . .even if it means he has to intimidate others, though it is never "want". Ezra is notably meticulous, but it can sometimes feel like talking with a robot with the way he sometimes ignores (doesn’t respond) the other party. It would only seem this way though because in fact, he will always listen to what the other party has to say, even while “ignoring” them. More accurately speaking, he just doesn’t know how to deal with people that are not like him.
___Despite his somewhat standoffish attitude, he does have an empathetic and more gentle side. As mentioned before, he will always listen even if he seems to be ignoring the other party, and he can put himself in their shoes most of their time. He never looks like it, but he is very good at remembering little things as well, and he can also give short compliments, though saying them out loud would be somewhat rare and come out kind of awkward (as is taking care of somebody else or giving affection, or something of that nature).
History
___Ezra was born as a human in a middle-high (ish) class, the youngest of three brothers-- the oldest one, Allen, was the next head of the family; the second brother, Wren, had depression. . .at least, their symptoms. As a child, he would often go outside and spend time/play with other kids mostly in secret because his parents weren’t very advocative of him playing with poorer children. Ezra, knowing they were poor, ended up stealing food for them out of sheer kindness, in which the kids were very thankful for (so in the end, he doesn’t really regret what he did).
___As he grew older, Ezra found himself taking care of his Wren (Allen was busy with his own responsibilities), who grew weak as time passed by. Doctors who came in had no solution on how to get his strength back, but all of them have affirmed that he would not live very long now. Nonetheless, Ezra still kept trying, until a young man stopped by, claiming he had a cure. Although Ezra was uncertain, he still let him try.
___The next night, Ezra came to visit Wren. Although he was (surprisingly) well and conscious, sitting up on the bed, he looked different. Eventually, Wren said he didn’t want to be alone, and he didn’t want to be in pain (out of hunger) any longer-- and that’s when he attacked his younger brother. That was how Ezra turned into a vampire.
___After that, he was asked by Wren to kill him. Wren never asked for this type of life, and he didn’t want to hurt others again. Plus, it wasn’t as though he wanted to live much longer in this cruel world anyway. Ezra did it in the end because it was his brother’s wish. After that, he ran away, leaving only a note of apology to his family.
___He did get to meet the prince of vampires eventually mainly by chance, and they got to be acquaintances and friends over time as well. Ezra then made a living where he is now as a fairly-famous writer (his first work was a semi-autobiographical novel), away from his family, in his own estate, which is not extremely huge.
