The OCs

As Archer's seemingly egotistical remarked made it's way into the air, Alanis shook her head in criticism while she just stared in his direction for a few moments more before turning her attention to street that they were approaching. Returning to her family home always seemed to prove draining. Alanis allowed her opinions to be heard about each, and everything that she thought was ridiculous, and neither did her mother, nor step-father appreciate it at all. Though her mother always told her that she didn't have to be so independent, she never truly felt welcomed in that house.

After a spending a little time in her own thoughts, Alanis looked back over between Mickie and Archer talking to one another. Mickie was nodding her head to Archer as she agreed with what he thought was ideal. And finally, after a bit of minor directions, they had arrived at their destination: The Family House. Alanis looked out of the window, her eyes staring at the residence, as if she were searching at it brick by brick. A forceful sigh found it's way from her lungs throughout her mouth.

The whistle caused Alanis to look over from the passenger seat with her eyebrow raised. And of course, Archer, with all of his cleverness, expressed yet another joke about Alanis. She just narrowed her eyes at him once again, finding no point to even comeback a retort at the moment.

Mickie, on the other hand, continued to smile and snicker about the joke about her older sister. "Not all of us can seem so regal, Alanis." Mickie had mocked in a British-accent, as she brushed her hair out of her face with her hand.

Alanis just scoffed at the comments that the two of the made against her, and motioned toward the door handle to try to open. "Right, Mickie. I feel so hurt~-- Now, open the door." Alanis ordered her younger sister. And with that command, they both struggled to grab the handle of the door. "If--I-- can. Just GET over some." Alanis complained as she strained herself to reach to get it.

Finally, after all of their struggling, Mickie was able to pull the handle of the door, and it swung open without an issue. Mickie had crawled from her sister's lap and out of the vehicle. And at last, they both were able to breathe comfortably. Mickie waved back at Archer when she got situated and settled from where she was. "Thanks for the ride!" She yelled before she ran through the black iron gateway.

Soon, Alanis had stepped out of the low-sitting, sports car and turned to bend down and look at Archer. "Just give me a few seconds, I'll see her inside, and then I'll be right back." She informed him before shutting the car door back, for she definitely didn't want to be left here with the lot of them. She then followed suit after her younger sister through the iron gate.

Archer had been surprised, yet thankful that his joke appeared to fly right over Alanis' head. He was definitely expecting to get reprimanded by her again, but instead she had only kept quiet. Maybe he was getting somewhere? Well, not very far but that had to mean something right? Then again she could have just been ignoring him.

In any case seeing the two girls struggle to get out of the car was more than amusing, and Archer found himself holding in another fit of giggles as they fought to reach his handle on the passenger side. Finally, after what seemed like forever of them squirming and fussing at one another, they were able to open the door and break free from his small vehicle.

"Pff," he snickered, watching as they stretched, obviously thankful to be free from the uncomfortable position they were in. He could only smile and wave back to the young girl that thanked him for the ride. She seemed to be incredibly sweet. "No problem~" He called back out at her, grinning from ear to ear.

He hadn't expected Alanis to get out of the car with her to go inside the home. Not with how she didn't seem as interested in their parents. "Huh? Oh, fine wit' me mate. Take ya time," he waved his hand at her, emphasizing the fact that he was fine with however long it took. He leaned back in the car, hands behind his back as he awaited her return. "Wonder if she'll be alright.."

As Alanis was making her way down the walk way, she had spotted a couple of the vehicles parked in the drive way. They were nice cars, that would be out of the average family's budget to buy more than one. They were no sport cars, by any means, but luxurious, nonetheless. As Alanis got nearer to the door, she heard Mickie pressing on the doorbell a couple of times, and the whimsical sound could be heard playing from inside of the residence.

"You don't have the house keys, Mickie?" Alanis questioned her little sister, looking at her with a frustrated stare. Mickie just shrugged her shoulders as she looked up to her older sister.

"Heh.. I may have forgotten them...here?" Mickie stated with a small chuckle afterwards. Alanis just closed her eyes and shook her head at her younger sister's mishap.

Then, a set of footsteps could be heard making their way closer to the door, and a couple of locks sounded like they were being unbolted. The two of them just stared at the door as it began to open.

And person to open the door was none other than their mother, she didn't seem to please, but that's normally how she always seemed. Alanis just stared back at her with a blank, unfazed expression, but in her mind, she could not wait to leave.

"Mmph." Jacqueline finally exclaimed as she looked between the two of them. "..C'mon here in this house, Mickie. You know better than to leave off like that." She had said to her younger daughter as she gestured her into the house. Mickie had looked back at her sister for a moment, as if she was waiting for approval.

"Go ahead, Mick. I'll call your or something once I'm home safe." She said to her younger sister, who had smiled lightly at her, and resumed to sluggishly make her way in to the house as her mother said.

As soon as Mickie had left out of sight, Alanis had turned to start to head back to Archer who was still sitting in his car. But then she was interrupted by her mother.

"Alanis. Uhm. You ain't gonna speak or nothing?" Her mom finally asked her. And as much as Alanis didn't want to, she turned around to look at Jacqueline with the same blank face.

"..I need to go. I actually have to go work somewhere tomorrow, Mother." Alanis said with a bit a of sarcasm, while she folded her arms.

Jacqueline raised her eyebrow at her daughter before, and she didn't have to use any words, her facial expression did all of the talking for her. "Hmph." Jacqueline had expressed once again, only to look off around her daughter's head to see a purple sports car sitting in the driveway. She couldn't really see anything in the tinted windows, but she just saw that the engine was left on. "Whose that?" She asked, a bit more curious about who was driving the sports car than she was about her own daughter.

"Someone that offered us a ride here, that's all." Alanis said, but before she was fully finished with her statement, Jacqueline was starting to make her way over to the driver's side of the sports car. Alanis' mother was squinting into the windows, only making out the outlining of a figure in the seat. But soon, Alanis had tried to hurried after her, but she had known that it would be too late.<p><a href="<fileStore.core_Attachment>/monthly_2015_07/upload_2015-7-22_17-29-42.png.efd2442b2cad7d20c0639c61acd9e3a1.png" class="ipsAttachLink ipsAttachLink_image"><img data-fileid="63432" src="<fileStore.core_Attachment>/monthly_2015_07/upload_2015-7-22_17-29-42.png.efd2442b2cad7d20c0639c61acd9e3a1.png" class="ipsImage ipsImage_thumbnailed" alt=""></a></p>

While waiting for Alanis to handle her business with her parents, Archer had leaned back into the chair of the car and closed his eyes. He was humming to the tune of whatever song it was playing on the raidio, patiently waiting for the sound of Alanis' opening the door to the car. After a while, he did hear a sudden noise at the car and his eyes fluttered open and turned in the direction of what it was.

It wasn't Alanis however. Through the darkened glass he could see another woman, older but with a skin tone close to Alanis. If she had come up to his car, he wondered if this was in fact Alanis' mother. His theory was corrected when he looked out in front of him at the front of the house, to see Alanis hurrying after her. Archer turned his attention back to the woman at his window, whom was now peering inside as if she was trying to get a good look at him. Whoever she was, she sure did want to see him badly.

Reaching to his side, Archer placed his hand down on the button that controlled the windows, letting the one to his right down as he leaned towards the passenger's side. He gazed up at the woman, slightly confused yet putting on a smile. "Ah, can I help you? You wouldn't happen ta' be Alanis mah would ya'?" He grinned, trying his best to keep a good appearance, as she seemed to very much want to meet him. "How ya' doin?"

Alanis hurried as fast as she could without making much of a scene to get to the passenger's side of the car, but of course Jacqueline was very much in the way of where she wanted to get. And knowing how her mother, she wasn't going to bulge a movement at all without at least seeing who the other person in the vehicle was. Alanis only action that she seemed fit was to turn her back on the both of them. She placed her palm on her forehead, shaking her head as she looked up towards the house. Though, as she continued to look, all she could see in the corner window upstairs was Mickie's face looking out the window with a big smile on her face.

As Mickie teased her from the fact of their mother bothering Archer, Alanis' whole expression just frowned up a little. She shook her head at her younger sister, but she dared not look back behind her, at least not for the next few moments.

Jacqueline watched the window roll down slowly before her eyes, only to see an unfamiliar face sitting in the driver's seat. She furrowed her eye's at the guy who had begun to several questions, all while having a large grin planted on his face.

"I must be her what?" Jacqueline questioned the boy in the car, who looked to be around her eldest daughter's age. "That's my daughter who riding with you." She stated in a rough tone, her facial expression looking most non-amused. "And I'm fine.." She commenced a new statement as she narrowed her eyes at the grinning guy.

"It's just Alanis never mentioned anything about you..." She had leaned down closer to get a good look at him through the opened window. "Who are you, exactly? Ya'll courting each other?" She finally asked as she looked right at his face.

tumblr_inline_n8tfaebEv11s1ub61.gif

And with that question, Alanis had finally turned back to get in on the conversation, walking up beside her mother as she was interrogating her co-worker. "Moms--Moms--.. We have to GO. Seriously! It is getting late, and I have to get back to my apartment!" Alanis exclaimed, trying to hide her embarrassment.

As Archer watched the seemingly sour expression cross over the woman's face before him, he made himself maintain his smile to keep face. He could already tell where Alanis got her habits from, especially the death glares. Still, he couldn't just be rude to her, despite the reaction she was giving him. She definitely didn't seem like she wanted to really speak to him, so much as just know exactly who he was and what he was doing in her yard. He swallowed, then cleared his throat when she mentioned the two of them dating.

"Ah, I wish," he thought to himself, but dared not to say.

"Actually nah, I'm just giving Mickie a ride back ya see," he cleared up with her. He didn't know how her mother would react, so he made sure to keep things short and simple. "See we work together an-"

Before he could finish however, Alanis had jumped from her spot behind her mother and cut them both off, appearing out of character from how he usually saw her. Did she have somewhere to be or something? She seemed to be in a hurry, but he wasn't sure why. Still, seeing her in such a way was a bit funny, and cute. He couldn't help snickering at the sight before him, a flustered Alanis trying to hush her mother. It was a sight alright.

Alanis placed both of palms on each of her mother's shoulders and she gradually began to turn her away from Archer's direction. Jacqueline was confused, to say the least, as her daughter tried to interrupt the conversation among the two of them.

"Now, just wait a minute here--" Jacqueline had said in disoriented tone as her daughter tried to turn her away from the purple sports car. "Why did you need a ride; Dontcha got ya own car?" Jacqueline continued even after Alanis was done calmly turning her in opposite direction.

Alanis had took the time to grab the handle of the car, and pull on it to open the door. She quickly sat down in the comfortable, luxurious seat of the vehicle and looked up towards her mother as she closed the door behind her. "Yeah-- My car is outta commission right now, so he offered a ride." Alanis answered her mother's questions that she had previously asked. "So, now we gotta get--" Alanis had started to try to deter Jacqueline from asking any further question that would prove rather embarrassing for Alanis, but was interrupted once again after trying to say her 'goodbyes' and 'farewells'.

Jacqueline had bend down once again to look into the window, and her focus shifted between Alanis and the other guy who was driving the car. "Can I at least get the name of the person that's driving my daughter around?" She asked with a bit of attitude in her tone, her face completely sat in an irritable expression.

"And I'ont like being lied to--And this is a nice car you got here.." She said in an almost suspicious manner, her eyes widening and shifting between the two young people in the car. Then her focus sat directly at Alanis, eyes widened and all. "Girl, are you sle--" Jacqueline was about to scold her daughter with excessive anger and shock.

"Noooooo-- Please stoop. C'mon, don't.--Auugh!" Alanis quickly interrupted her mother before she could finish her final thought. Alanis just squinted her eyes at how unbearable Jacqueline was being at this very moment.

Watching all of this go down was more than amusing, Archer was more than happy that he had went ahead and taken Mickie home. If he hadn't, he wouldn't have been able to enjoy the show before him. Holding back his laughter as best he could, he watched as Alanis moved her mother aside and took the passenger seat next to him as quickly as possible. It was almost as if she had stolen something and was going to tell him to drive off as fast as he could.

When her mother asked for his name, he politely nodded his head over to her, still wearing the same smile on his face. "It's Archer. Archer Kelly," he repeated, adding his last name. He doubted that was all her mother wanted to know, and he was correct as she continued asking Alanis more questions about them. The last one however, threw him off guard. She wasn't able to finish it, as Alanis had interrupted her, but Archer could obviously tell what she was going to ask.

With that, he couldn't help the laughter that erupted itself from his belly, holding onto the steering wheel as he did so and shaking his head. He looked over to the two women, still laughing, but it had died down a bit. "No, no, no, no," he clarified. "Nothin' like that at all!" He glanced over at Alanis, who seemed completely embarrassed and frustrated with the whole situation. Normally, he would have created only more embarrassment for her, but she seemed to have had enough.

"I'm just her co-worker is all. Nothin' like that goin' on between us," he said as he had finally stopped laughing. "Alanis here doesn't seem like that type a girl anyway if you ask me," he said, trying to stick up for her but not sure if his words were really the best put.

Alanis leaned the back of her head against the passenger seat of Archer's car. She dared not to look at either her mother or Archer, knowing that it would be some kind of look on their faces that would make her even more frustrated. This was one a reason that she would become drained after leaving from the family house: The endless, ruthless questions out of thin air that had nothing pertaining to them. She was very embarrassed at the moment, and if her skin wasn't the color brown that it was, you would probably be able to see the blushing in her face. But nevertheless, she kept her composure as much as she could.

Jacqueline let out a sigh of relief as she leaned up from the car, swaying her hair from out of her face. "I was about to say-- You know I taught you better than to be tryna do all of that." She had voiced in a sour, little attitude.

And as much as Alanis wanted to point out that statement wasn't true, simply because of the fact Jacqueline had married her step-father for 'financial stability' and that he's such a 'good man', she knew that it wasn't worth the aggravation.

tumblr_mwmebt60zS1rnjdzho3_250.gif

She then let a small smile form upon her face as she bent down for the last time, and she begun to speak in a nice, non-hostile voice as if none of the previous scenes had ever happened. "Well, it sure was nice to meet you, Archer...Kelly." She directed towards the pink-haired boy in the driver's seat. "I would've let you meet Alanis' step-daddy, the daddy that helped raised her since she was just a child, but he's not home at the moment.." She had went to carry on about her husband, which Alanis didn't seem even the least interested about.

"Business affairs, y'know?" She finally said before leaning up from the with window of the car, with that same light smile upon her face. "But I'll let ya'll gone on...-- You couple take care of ya'll selves. You may not tell me, but I was ya'll ages once." Jacqueline has finished up her statement, but Alanis was quick to retort against her mother.

Alanis had quickly turned her face toward the window at her mother. "Okay, Moms. One: There's this new thing where a girl and a guy can talk and ride in a car together. It called 'being friends'-- JUST friends. This isn't the 80's anymore." Alanis had stated, venting out all of her pent up frustration. "Two: It's time for us to go-- forreal." Alanis had told her mother as she pressed down the button on the side of the door to let up the window. "Bye." She simply said before the tinted window made it's entire way up.

tumblr_myo6jo6C5c1tosi7to6_250.gif

Jacqueline just stood there for a moment, looking down at the window with a bit of attitude, and expression on her face like she couldn't believe what just happened. "Hmph." She said as she turned up her chin, before turning around with he hand on her hip, and started to walk towards the house.

Alanis exhaled loudly before looking back over to Archer, though she really had no words to say to him at the exact moment. She reached over to pull the seat belt, and buckle it around her. "Alright-- I'm done, I'm ready to get out of here, and ready to go home!" She finally said while look straight ahead out of the windshield.

After meeting Alanis' mother, Archer couldn't help but grow curious about her father. Rather, her step-father. Her mother was definitely a card, so it made him want to meet the man that could handle someone such as her. Too bad he couldn't, because the look on Alanis' face was priceless. She was as flustered as ever, itching to get out of the parking lot.

When she interrupted her mother once more, he had to keep another laugh from coming out, looking out of his own window in an attempt to hide the smirk upon his face. Quickly, his head jolted back in their direction at Alanis' words. Friends? When she said that he had to admit, it made him perk up quite a bit, and the smile on his face was almost ear to ear. Even if she hadn't of meant it, to hear her say it was a miracle, and he couldn't help but hold a mini celebration in his head.

Finally, Alanis rolled the window up in her mother's face, and before long her mother had turned to head back into their large home. Everything seemed as if it were over now, and when Alanis commanded they leave the parking lot at once, Archer only snickered before backing out of the yard and heading back the way he'd come.

"So......friends huh ?" He asked, glancing over at her with that same mischievous smirk upon his face.

As she looked back at the house slowly becoming distant from her, Alanis exhaled in alleviation as she slumped back in the passenger's seat. Just as Alanis had thought, she had became drained from returning back to her family home, and all just within a few minutes of being there. She could not have been more embarrassed than at that exact moment in time. Her palm found it's way to cup over her forehead as she attempted to hide her face as Archer resumed on driving to their destination.

Suddenly, over the sound of the wheels driving along the paved road, she heard Archer's voice make it's return into the air, and the question that he requested of her caused Alanis to squint her eyes while she tried to maintain in hiding her face from him.

After regaining the most comfortable posture by sitting up in the seat a bit, Alanis eventually looked over to Archer with her eyes still narrowed in that squinting position. As soon as she saw his face, she noted that bothersome smirk that his face begun to wear. There was an instant eye roll directed at Archer as she faced back forward, wanting to ignore his question.

tumblr_inline_msqf2qRyrz1qz4rgp.gif

"Sure, Archer-- I would rather someone think that we're 'friends' than anything else." Alanis answered with a forced smile on her face. She turned her head to look out of the window, her arms crossed over her chest, refusing to look over at him. She figured it wouldn't do any harm to her for her to announce Archer as a friend, at least. He did, in fact, offered her to take her and her sister home, so he couldn't be all that bad of a person. Plus, her co-worker was mostly kind, and seemed to never be agitated with customers or anyone else-- much different from her own self.

Soon after she stared out of the window of her door, she focused her attention back on Archer while he was driving, remembering once against what he had just witnessed.

"And don't mention anything you just saw-- In fact, you didn't see it!" She exclaimed in humiliation, pointing her finger at him as she pursued in trying to command him not to do it, doubting that it would even work. "My mom has issues-- You shouldn't even really pay into everything she says--" Alanis continued to make explanations for her mother.
