Felix Holmes | East Side, Pleasantview Sign | Dede Dede WillfulWren WillfulWren
Felix grimaced at Clarisse's joke, but then she said her name and looked down, and he finally felt safe enough to at least glance around the pair. Nothing. Good. The dangers probably laid deeper in town...

As soon as Ryan stepped up again, Felix was worried. His eyes fell on his friend, and he pursed his lips, eyes widening a bit as he dropped Felix's name. He barely managed to fight the urge to loudly announce Ryan's. But he could stand by the rest of what Ryan was saying, so he nodded in agreement, looking back up at Clarisse.

Sam - Shopping District Streets

A furniture gallery. That seemed like the perfect place to take refuge, especially after hours of traveling. And plus, there was sure to be plenty of things with which to barricade the doors, if the zombies did not give up the chase and tried to follow them in.

"Great," Sam said, "Show me the way." Even though they were total strangers, he assumed she would comply. Sticking with him was better than facing the zombies alone. Besides, with how far along she seemed in her pregnancy, he imagined she could use the extra help. Introductions could come later.

He glanced over his shoulder at the pack. More of them had turned around, cued in by their fellow undead to the new prey in the area, and were heading for them. Slow, but still concerning all the same. He wondered how fast the young mother-to-be could move, if they still had the advantage of speed.

The slender female hadn't had any interactions yet with hostile humans - or really with any humans. She had travelled with a mechanics major from her old college for a while before the younger girl had gotten infected and Clarisse had fled into the night.

Not her proudest moment, but it made her frown in confusion as the pair continued to act hostile.

"Oh, don't tell me, things are dangerous right now, so the few humans left are gonna tear each other apart?" She ,uttered, the friendliness seeming to disappear, replaced with dead-eyed cold. "Fuck, this species is doomed. Let's hope something halfway decent takes over the world then."
And with that, she turned to leave.

Stephanie could hear the undead getting closer as her breath hitched more with every second. Trying to blow the feather boa away, she resisted the urge to rub her nose as doing so would shift the clothes in the closet and definitely alert her undead company. Her eyes squeezing shut, Stephanie bit her lips together and wiggled her twitching nose. Making a few disgruntled sounds, the zombies remained in the area but they looked dissatisfied. Then Stephanie sniffled, some of the feathers getting lodged up her nose and tickling it intensely.

"Hehh... heehh..." Stephanie bit her lips together before risking it and bringing a hand up to her face and pulling the boa away. She sniffled and inhaled sharply as the remaining feathers were getting to her sinuses. About to sneeze, Stephanie pinched her nose shut and prayed it'd be enough.

"HAT'CHH" She managed to keep it stifled but she felt more sneezes coming. At least the undead didn't hear but they were still searching.

Ryan watched as the female turned to leave. He thought he did the right thing by stepping up and standing his ground. They weren’t going to be treated like ‘little kids’ by anybody.

She could have been a nice stranger. She might have showered them with food and supplies, had they returned her trust. She might have welcomed them to her safehouse-slash-nuclear-bunker where there was a foosball table and an indoor heated swimming pool. But Ryan thought it was more likely that she was just like the rest of the strangers they'd met, just looking to take advantage of them. Her snarky remarks at the end didn’t inspire much more confidence either. Still, Ryan looked to his side to see if his friend approved of his actions.

On the other hand, he *was* hungry. Felix must have been hungry too. His eyes trailed after the female again, with second thoughts. Maybe she did have some food to share. Maybe he just blew it for the both of them.

Disappointing, Disappointing but not unexpected. The roads were blocked with tons of cars he hoped were fully abandoned.

It reminded him of that scene in a video game he played a long time ago. Though he video game remember some of the details He really wanted to take the other road. But like in the memories. The characters get ambushed as soon as they took it. Though it may be ill advised to follow a video game. Especially now that he has a chance to reattach himself to reality.

He decided his house wasn't that far a walk away. He could take the supplies from the boot. Even though his back would be killing him and the masseur would be more interested in the insides of his cranium. He finished packing. And started walking into the yonder.

Victoria - Shopping District ----> Furniture Gallery
Looking at the same direction as the man before her, it would seem that there were an unreasonable amount of zombies headed their way. Grimacing a little, she gripped her crowbar a bit more tightly. When the man mentioned for her to show them the way to the Furniture Gallery, she only nodded. Soon they both had turned around and started walking towards the furniture gallery. The last thing she saw out of the corner was a couple of them tripping over each other and stumbling around. Sadly, she wasn't able to run and was too tired to speed walk as the pregnancy was beginning to take its toll on her. As she looked back, the Zombies were still far out, but seemed to have more joining the giant horde headed for them. As they turned towards the shopping center, it seemed more and more devoid of life. As soon as she saw the furniture gallery that she had thought of, she quickly tried the door. To her luck, it was unlocked. She soon opened the door and ushered her new companion inside. She then locked the door with the deadbolts. "I hope we lost them..." She sighed. "So...what should we wedge in front of the door and windows...After that...I hope there's a bed I can use...I'm..." She took a deep breath. "I'm really tired..." She said before waddling towards the receptionist's counter and setting her crowbar aside as she started leaning against the counter, panting and holding her belly.

Gary Paulson - 43 - moving South from North side of town. BloodThunder27 BloodThunder27 Hoax Hoax

"Who am I?"

The question caught the aging teacher off guard. In such a situation, all the possible things she could have said, and her first utterance was 'who are you?' The thought would have been funny if he wasn't scared and still coughing out the stench of the butcher shop that still clung to the air but was much weaker out here. He kept his hands raised and but let the rifle slow down and fall back to his shoulder pointing up. He thought for a moment too long about how to answer then he remembered the police vest he was wearing and hoped it would work to his advantage.

"I'm Gary Morales... I, was police with East Bend next city over and...-"

As he spoke the sound of groaning seemed to increase and intensify... clearly his clamor had drawn some attention and Gary immediately worried about the reasonably large group that had followed him.

"-and we should go. A good sized group chased me in there..."

He pointed with his left hand towards the back of the butcher's shop and already some shamblers were prodding down the alleyways beside the building, curious as to what had made that noise. He backed up several steps keeping his eyes on the girl that followed before turning around and surrendering his back to her. Gary quietly smiled to himself, happy that he'd taken the time to take the names off the vest just in case something like this happened. There was more undead now and they seemed to be thicker than he thought before.

What am I supposed to do with her? What if she finds out? She can't come back... I mean... well... she could... I don't have enough food for two people! I can't just leave her... she's the first person I've seen that hasn't been undead, dead, or one of the bandit groups... fuck...

As he walked the thoughts raced through his head and without a clear answer he continued to loop inside his mind. He didn't want to stray too far from where he'd dropped that backpack so he could come back but he had to get away from this swarm of shamblers first. There was a motel up on the right but there was no way that would work... He needed a place with more space... multiple entries to get out... and pray there would be no one else there. And as if the Gods above were listening, a two-story brick building was present. It looked old like it was one of the original buildings before the town started getting bigger. They must have been moving South towards the heart of town...It had several small stacks on top. And several entries including large wooden double doors that would fit vehicles and smaller personnel points. There were a lot of windows on the second floor but surprisingly little on the first floor which was a good sign.

Gary dodged past a few of the things and gave one a good pop across the head with his flashlight before gesturing towards the girl to follow him.

Felix frowned as Clarisse's friendly demeanor turned sour. To him, this just proved him right- She hadn't really been nice at all, had she?

Gaze glued to the woman as she left, he didn't notice Ryan's search for approval. His stomach grumbled, and his frown deepened. The pair would have to eat soon, huh? That could wait a little longer, though.

Vivian - Streets
After spending much time navigating through the mostly empty town, save a couple of zombies in the distance, a large percentage of whom did not notice her, Vivian soon found herself in the northern side of town. Although there were some zombies scattered across the area, Vivian figured that she would be able to sneak around them if she didn't make too much noise. Thankfully, her footsteps weren't all that loud and she took it easy and slow when attempting to navigate around. They continued to not notice her, but the young woman still kept her Socket Wrench close. However, she started feeling a little tired, exhausted even. Hell, out of breath too. Getting out of the Hospital was a challenge, now so was navigating through an empty town...and sometimes zombies show up. In the distance, she could see lighting waving around. Was that a flashlight being used? If so, by who? Another person, a zombie? As she felt a sharp pain in her stomach, she held her breath, not wanting attract any zombies. One undo noise, and she'd be done for. Thankfully from what she has noticed, Zombies are stupid and slow and she could somewhat speed walk, but not for extensive periods of time.

As she waddled towards the source of the flashlight, Vivian kept her Wrench raised. Her heart sank when she was confronted with a man armed with a gun...and a couple of zombies.

Valerie - Streets
After spending much time lazying in her hotel room, Valerie decided to get out of her hotel room for a few hours, wanted to stretch her legs and get some reasonably fresh air. Armed with her gun and knife, she ventured into the suburbs, in hopes of finding some food and perhaps a melee weapon with better reach. Getting bitten by one of those things was just a nightmare to think about. And she didn't want to make all that much noise. Unless it was an emergency, she had to think twice about using her gun. If she was lucky enough, she would probably find ammunition for her rifle. Taking a drink out of her water, she kept her knife close. In one of the abandoned homes, Valerie saw that the garage was open. Going inside, she would end up finding a few tools that were reasonable melee weapons. Definitely not the Chainsaw though. That baseball bat seemed more reasonable and it was easy to swing indoors and cave in a skull if needed. Grabbing the bat, she kept a tight grip on it. Entering the house, she closed the door quietly before keeping her bat raised. It would seem that a few zombies were already in the home. Three of them started walking towards her. Gripping the bat tightly, the young mother hardened her resolve. Swinging at the first zombie, she hit it in the jaw and he made a 180 Degree turnaround and stumbled towards the other two zombies before falling. The second would be hit across the face as well. For the third, she just swung downwards to hit in the head. That zombie was done, but the other two were still up. As they got back up, Valerie started pummeling the one closer to her until the head was a bloody, caved in mess. As for the last zombie, she just hit twice in the head as hard as she could before it could get back up. Sighing, she started heading up the stairs. On the way up, two zombies tried to get towards her, but would end up tripping and snapping their own necks in the process as they tumbled down the stairs. One more zombie was approaching, but the Valerie grabbed it by the neck, realizing that it would be incapable of biting her, before pushing it down the stairs as well.

As she came into one of the bedrooms, she saw a backpack. Someone was definitely here. Hopefully there weren't any more zombies in the house, but it was probably best if she went back to the motel before long. "Hello? Anyone there...? You...You left your backpack. And...if you need shelter...you can come back with me. I can provide food and shelter if needed. After we search this place, we can head back...I...have an extra bed too." She said, hoping to get a response as she kept the baseball bat raised.

The first humans she'd seen in over a week and they were hostile little brats. Now that...That pissed Clarisse off.

Not that, even when she was pissed off, she was very intimidating.Five feet and one inch of height made it difficult for her to scare anyone. With a sigh, she fished a chocolate flavoured breakfast bar out of her backpack, giving the bottle of vodka a considering look...

No, not yet. She'd wait until she was somewhere safe first. And now she was heading back into PleasantView, cowed by a pair of teenagers and too...What? Irritated? Embarrassed? To go back past them.

Ah well, she'd just have to find a nice house to hole up in for the night.

She'd drink that vodka then.

Turning down side streets and alleyways to find a zombie-free house...
And then she made a wrong turn into a dead end alley, with a small group of zombies picking over an old corpse. Clarisse let out a startled squeak, a strangled noise like a cat when someone treads on it's tail... Then ran back the way she came, ducking into the nearest building without even bothering to check it was safe, shaking all over and clinging to her knife.

Stephanie could hear commotion coming from nearby. Then, after a few minutes, a voice called. No other sounds could be heard. She emerged from the cramped closet, her clothes covered in dust and feathers. Before she could say anything, her nose had to get the irritants out. She raised a finger, gasping and bracing herself. "HAT'CHOOO! AH'CHOOOO! HI'CHOOOO! AHT'CHOOOOO"! Doubling over with each huge sneeze, Stephanie struggled to breathe before the fit finally ended and she caught her breath. Facing this stranger, or saviour in this case, Stephanie slung her backpack over her shoulder in case she tried to take it. Stephanie didn't trust anyone fully until they proved otherwise. Then her eyes glanced down at this person's stomach. "You're pregnant. Oh shit". Stephanie collected herself before smiling a little. "I'm Stephanie. You said you have shelter and rescources? And an extra bed? I've got some extra food; we could help one another". She didn't realise she was still holding her kitchen knife.

Lauren Holmes | 17 | North side, streets

Doaheem Doaheem BloodThunder27 BloodThunder27

Gary… Lauren’s idiot brain flashed to Spongebob for a split second like the gen Z child she was, before actually taking the name in. An officer from the next city over, still decked out in gear; it was like hitting the survivor jackpot. If Lauren was more malicious she might’ve tried to hold him up and take his stuff, but without bullets or a scarier face she doubted she could even if she wanted to.

“A group?” she echoed, turning to follow the man’s line of sight. Lo and behold, some stragglers were already filtering into the alley, tripping over garbage and slippery, disgusting newspapers. Lauren looked back at Gary retreating up the street, back at the infected, then back to Gary. What could go wrong?

Shuffling back into a walk, she clicked her rifle back into the crudely made holster on her backpack -which was really just the side straps- and pulled out her knife instead. If gunshots echoed in the country, she could only imagine how loud they’d be bouncing off city walls. She hoped Gary knew that too but didn’t hold her breath-- cop or not, he could always just be another idiot with a gun.

Stop that, Lauren. Think positively. You found a friend who hasn’t tried to kill or eat you, appreciate him and his numerous bullets.

As if on cue, Gary bapped an infected in the head and motioned her forwards. She obliged, picking her way hurriedly through the street, but slowed to a stop just before reaching him at the sight of a heavily, heavily pregnant woman. Her eyes widened, unable to process the thought of a pregnant woman being one of Them before she noticed the wrench in her hands. Not dead. Yet. But she looked exhausted, it likely wouldn't be long without help.

Not waiting for approval from her new friend Lauren broke off, weaving back through the street towards the woman. If Gary was truly in a helpful mood he could wait one more second.

“Hurry,” she said quietly, extending a hand to the pregnant woman. “get inside.”

Felix and Ryan had done the necessary to drive the female away from them. The encounter left Ryan feeling a little queasy, because they’d practically chased away their only human contact in a long, long time. But he did what had to be done. Clarisse didn’t leave a good impression on him. They were better off just the two of them.

The boys telepathically agreed on this point. But then they were hungry and there had been little food to go around. ‘We better find some food before it gets dark,’ he said. There were lots of houses they could check and odds were good that they would find something to stave off their hunger. But he waited for the female to go out of sight before he acted on his plan. He worried that she might turn round and show her true colours, attacking them with her knife.

Gary Paulson - 43 - North Central part of town, old brick warehouse.
BloodThunder27 BloodThunder27 Hoax Hoax

Almost there. The teacher tried one of the metal doors and it didn't budge, likely locked, great. The other one didn't move either... awesome. He had to try one of the large double doors. If they got cornered it would end badly. He grasped the corroded metal handle along the outside and heaved... nothing. Worrying now he tried the other door adjacent to it and it gave, just barely but it gave! He propped his foot up on the other door as a leaver and heaved. The door started to open! And then a horrid scrape of what seemed like a hundred pounds of wood against a concrete floor as the momentum of his pull scraped along the floor and seemed like a siren to the world around and suddenly any undead that wasn't already aware of the presence of living beings turned to face the two.

"Shitshitshit get inside now!"

This was fine, they'd get the door closed. Whatever problem the young girl would pose, it would be limited compared to families, elderly, children, or... As if on queue, the bulging image of a pregnant woman caught his eye as Gary turned to face the younger woman that he'd met just a moment ago. She was with another now, the pregnant woman looked a touch older than the younger girl but they were both maybe half his age and very much still alive. For a fleeting moment, he had the knee-jerk conviction to just close the door before they got to it, that gnawing sense of self-preservation that keeps people alive. He shuddered at the memory. With a quick flash that was far too fast to really determine, Gary waved the flashlight through the inside of the warehouse, determined it was clear and turned around to face the outside.

The Ruger was all he had to reach out and he tried to remember how many bullets he had left... was it 15? 20? He shouldered the rifle and aimed towards the two girls, keeping himself at the doorway. They were moving well enough but there were infected that were too close. Gary fired and the sound of a firecracker popped as the small .22 bullet whizzed out striking one of the infected in the shoulder, it knocked her off balance and she fell to the floor but it didn't kill her.

"Come on! Please! Let's go!"

He aimed again and fired.

Vivian - Old Warehouse
After a brief hesitance, Vivian grabbed onto the young woman's hand after she offered to help. At the same time, the middle aged man with the flashlight was barking for her to get inside. As he was armed with a Rifle, he started shooting at the zombies so that she could make it to safety. Once inside the warehouse, she took note of how dark and empty it was. Hopefully there was some place that they could sleep for the night. Like, at least a couch if not a bed. Due to the fact that she was pregnant, the idea of sleeping on the floor didn't sound too comfortable to her and would likely have consequences. Thinking about it, she began regretting that one night stand, as did her sisters. Or at least one of them. Hopefully she would find them soon. But for now, she was going to join the other two, as traveling alone was just too dangerous, especially in her condition. Of course, once she was inside the warehouse, she placed her Socket Wrench back into her bag before leaning against a wall, holding her back and her belly, panting in exhaustion and wanting to catch her breath. "Thanks...For helping me..." She sighed before wiping sweat off of her forehead and running her fingers down her brunette hair.

Valerie - House
Before she could even say anything else, a young woman emerged from a very cramped closet and started sneezing up a storm, leaving the young Mother a little surprise. Thankfully it didn't make her water break. Right now was the worst time to go into labor, granted she wasn't anywhere near due for another four weeks. Hopefully by then there will be a Doctor or at least someone who knows how to deliver a baby. After the other woman was done sneezing, the first thing she pretty much did was glance at Valerie's swollen belly, before pointing out the obvious. Of course, given the circumstances they were in, Valerie didn't make much of it and the other woman was probably shocked to see a pregnant woman of all people. She then introduced herself as Stephanie, before responding to the questions that Valerie had asked prior. "And my name's Valerie. Yes, I mentioned having resources, mainly just food and water. At least for the next....four or five days minimum before having to go scavenging again. As for shelter, I am currently staying at the Hotel not too far from here. And I'm staying on the fourth floor because those things aren't bright enough to use stairs...thankfully. Otherwise me and my baby would be...one of them." She shuttered before relaxing herself, no longer having that bloodied baseball bat raised. "Anywho, yeah, the room I took shelter in has like...two beds and a couch that can turn into a bed. So...Yeah. If you want, we can go back together. And I'd really, appreciate the company." She smiled a little nervously, before looking down at her belly, frowning and then taking a deep breath.
R Rock And Roll Boy

Stephanie readjusted her backpack, only now putting her knife away. "Nice to meet you, Valerie. Well, I've got a few chocolate bars and a whole bowl full of salad. Along with a decent amount of water. Combined together, our rations should last us up to a week if we go on a strict diet". Dusting her clothes off, she pinched her nose shut and stifled another sneeze. "God damn. Alright, Valerie, lead the way".

BloodThunder27 BloodThunder27

Valerie - House
The young mother just straightened out her dress and her hair. Since it was reasonably long, it was easy for the zombies to grab, so she had to be careful. To help, she tied it into a ponytail. Her stomach growled when Stephanie mentioned chocolate bars and she frowned at the mention of a bowl full of salad. "Mmmmm, that Salad is gonna go bad in a few days. Those Chocolate Bars might last a couple of days though. I got enough canned soup to last us at least...three or four days. Not sure about the dieting. Very pregnant girls are almost always hungry. At this point, I don't know if I'm any better then those things." Her stomach growled a second time, causing her cheeks to turn red. "This is so embarrassing. Here we are up to our necks in zombies and I'm complaining about having to eat every hour..." She sighed before letting the bloodied baseball bat lay against her shoulder.

"Alright, we should head back to the hotel, but be warned that I...can't run. I can only get up to speed-walking." She frowned.

As the duo exited the house, they were met with a setting sun. If they were lucky, they had at least two hours to get back to the hotel, but it would probably take them about forty-five minutes to get back with the pace that they had to go at. Along the way, Valerie took note of a small group of zombies heading towards a specific house. Sadly, she didn't exactly have enough bullets to take all of them out. "So...any ideas on how to take them out without getting too close. I am cringing at the idea of my baby eating me from the inside out...and I don't exactly want to risk being bitten. If someone's inside, we just can't leave them."
R Rock And Roll Boy WillfulWren WillfulWren

"Really? I have no trouble leaving them. And don't use the fact that you saved me as leverage in this situation. Yes, I owe you one. But I'm not putting my life on the line for someone that's probably dead. Or is going to be".

Stephanie could hear the moans from the undead, sending more shivers down her body. Maybe they could try to sneak by.

BloodThunder27 BloodThunder27

Hearing loud banging on the door she had slipped through - but thankfully no shambling monsters in the house itself, she went to look for another way out. No go.
The owner had had the presence of mind to board over their windows, and both back and front doors were blocked by the undead. And they knew she was there alright, as the banging, scraping noise of them trying to get in was relentless and unending.... And then she heard the unmistakable sound of wood cracking and splintering. One knife that she could barely use and a crossbow that she couldn't even figure out what end she was meant to fire with weren't going to get her out of this as they started to pour into the house...
So she started screaming, hoping that someone would hear.

BloodThunder27 BloodThunder27 R Rock And Roll Boy

Valerie - Suburbs
"Oh no, not at all. I would never hold stuff over people like that. But-" Before either Stephanie or Valerie could say anything, both of them would hear a scream. At first, Valerie was going to agree with Stephanie, since there could have been a corpse inside the house in question. Or even someone who was bitten, or worse, someone who would backstab them at the first opportunity. It was most likely a scream for help. Taking a closer look, she took note of all the windows being boarded up, but before she could even figure out her next move, the front door gave away, allowing a small group of infected to enter the house and give chase at whoever was inside. "There's two of us and only like...five of them? We'll be fine. We're only gonna do this once." She tightened the grip on her baseball bat. "Nothing is more fierce then a Mother's Love." She growled before walking towards the house, weapon raised, ready to kill.
R Rock And Roll Boy WillfulWren WillfulWren

The scream made Stephanie raise her blade, following Valerie closer as they approached the home. She was still going to protest but Valerie had her mind made up. Stephanie sighed quietly, resisting the urge to grab her shoulder and change her mind.
"I can't believe this".

Clarisse had somehow managed to scramble on top of the fridge, heart hammering like a trapped songbird in her chest as she tried to kick the zombies back and halt their approach. She couldn't reach to stab them without leaning her upper body down and that wasn't a move she was going to make. Kicking seemed much safer, at least until one grabbed her leg and tugged, almost dragging her back down before she managed to shake him off and realised kicking was almost as dangerous as stabbing and tucked her legs up. She curled up as small as possible, cringing away from the noise of undead moans and guttural growls.

Valerie - House
With Stephanie following close behind, Valerie practically charged into the house. Sadly, by the time she had made it to the front door, the undead had made it inside. As she had made it into the kitchen, five zombies were trying to reach for a young woman on top of the fridge. How did she end up cornering herself. Valerie was thankful that she had made the decision to investigate instead of leaving. "Hold on!" She said before swinging her bat at the zombie closest to her, hitting the beast in the head. Blood splattered onto the other zombies as their pack mate fell to the floor. Another Zombie lunged at Valerie in an attempt to bite her, but the young mother reacted just in time, hitting the zombie in the jaw, sending it stumbling across the room. As a third lunged at her to bite, it ended biting the baseball bat, practically gnawing on it. Another zombie would then shift its attention on Valerie, with her back turned, the zombie proceeded to grab her hair...leaving the fifth to attempt to grab Clarisse
R Rock And Roll Boy WillfulWren WillfulWren

Stephanie wasn't far behind, her attention nearly stolen as Valerie proved she can, definitely, handle herself. Even with the weight of her unborn baby. She went for the zombie going for Clarisse, stabbing in the neck and twisting her blade, nearly grimacing as blood covered her glasses and face. The zombie now fallen, she stabbed the fourth in the side, under its ribcage, feeling its grip on Valerie's hair loosen. Twisting her blade again, nearly stumbling as the zombie thrashed out, soon going down as Stephanie stabbed it through its neck. Shaking a little, Stephanie took off her glasses and wiped them on her shirt.

"Everyone okay"?
