TVs' all over the country flashed at the bottom of the screen, a message much like that of a severe thunderstorm warning showed before they all turned to channel 17 with or without the owner's doing.  A man in a white coat, wrinkles and a bald head was shown, speaking, various languages at the bottom of the screen showing. The message looped, over and over, and would for the next half hour.

"Ladies and Gentlemen, a new virus has come to our attention and we are issuing a public safety announcement to inform you of the dangers. This virus, unnamed for now and shall be, for simplicities sake, referred to as X. X has shown to be a disease similar to rabies in animals, though it's affects are quite shocking. Here we will pause to show you what an animal with X becomes like."

A video clip was shown of a lab rat, it's skin rotting as it moved though it remained alive, eyes feral, it's nails seemingly sharper as it attacked the cage, the tiny metal bars bending slightly on the force put on them. Soon, though, it stopped, and turned it's head as another rat traveled through a tube into the cage. Within seconds, the new rat was laying on the ground, stomach splayed open as the infected one devoured it. The man's image flashed back.

"We end that here for the sake of homes with children. So far it seems animals are the only ones who seem affected by X, and become very hostile and dangerous to other animals. Scientists do not know of the danger to humans, and though they believe nothing will happen, they recommend avoiding wild life till a cure has been made. Please, keep an eye out for dangerous looking creatures and if you see any, please call the number below."

A number flashed over replacing the various written languages, before the video looped back to the beginning for a while longer before it returned all TVs' to their local news station. In Gallo City, the first thing that came on the news was the large town square meeting where the new governor was holding a public conference where the people in the city could ask questions, give suggestions, and gain their trust in him starting in half an hour.

Sitting around with a couple old acquaintances, the tv flickered to life and delivered shocking news about a new virus... X. Deciding it prudent to go to this meeting Kyle left, ignoring the jeers he got, "It's just a little bug, calm down man!", but he was already on his way out the door.

Upon seeing the broadcast,Jarred decided that going to the meeting would be beneficial;his buisness was at stake,if the animals invaded town. "A new virus...Similar to rabies?" He remembered a customer of his, going on about a game about the zombie apocalypse, caused by a virus that was, essentialy,a heavily mutated rabies virus.

He shuddered at the thought. Even the game's name was repulsive; Left 4 Dead.

Jarred got into his car,a Mercedes, and drove to town square. Upon approaching, the streets were clogged with pedestrians, cyclists, and cars with drivers leaning on their horns. Jarred done the prudent thing, and parked on the side of the road, and started walking. He wore his usual suit and tie;no point going to something like this looking like a street rat.

"Sixty-eight.....sixty-nine...seventy...."

A daily exercise routine builds a decent character and allows you to increase your stamina and longevity. This mantra continued to ring throughout this built Caucasian man as he continued to do pull ups in his large basement. After the previous failures he had in Ninja Warrior, he would be damned if he would not make it to the final stage this year...that is, if he could get enough time off from producing his weight loss show. "Ninety-eight......ninety-nine.....one hundred!" As soon as he reached one hundred pull ups, he released his grip on the bar and relaxed himself, wiping sweat away from his smooth forehead. "Aaaah, another workout session coming to an end....time for me to make some pasta!" Slowly bypassing the elevator that was there, he slowly walked up the stairs before arriving at the living room area....he could never get used to how this mansion was arranged, nor why there was a secret basement area near the fireplace...but those worries would be the least of his problems soon enough.

Grabbing the remote and putting on the wide screen tv, he was suprised to hear about something that seemed to be out of a B-rated horror movie....a virus that was mutating animals into weird zombie-like creatures. "No way...looks like this isn't some sort of stunt....I just hope it won't affect my participation in this year's Ninja Warrior, I've got a dream to accomplish!" Sighing, the man known as Rick Bailey left the television on and increased the volume, wondering how the town hall meeting would be handled as he went over to the kitchen area and grabbed ingredients for making a spinach alfredo pasta.

Mia had finally gotten all the stage make-up off her face, as she was finished with performances for today. Her job now was to collect information for the rest of her family, at least, that’s what she called them now. After 8 years of living in with them, both in the circus wagons and shows, she had grown on them.

Life in the circus was always about the crowd’s elation at such a big show, and with that came a lot of preparation. Often people remained in the dark about their own city, so a runner was usually sent to update them.

Mia had been chosen for today’s town meeting, with the new governor holding a conference for towns’ people to ask questions. Although she had no questions for the new governor, she was sure many of the townspeople did.

Ridding herself of her colourful spandex, she pulled on some black skinnies and a plain white T-shirt which she wore with chunky sunglasses. Missing pictures still remained of her, and even though they were her younger 13-year old self, she was still worried. After pocketing the little amount of money she had, she head out towards town square.

When she arrived there, a group of people already formed and she stood somewhere near the center, trying not to catch attention in the loud crowd.

Jagger stared at the television in disbelief as he watched the news broadcasting of the virus with bored eyes. "What's your point?" he asked his mother who had been the one to turn on the television in the first place. She never could seem to just let him play him Gameboy in his room without interrupting his focus and concentration.

"The point is that we could be in danger," she said as she combed through her hair with her fingers, an obvious sign that she was stressed by the situation. Then again, she just about had a mental breakdown the time they announced the chain of robberies in a state that wasn't even anywhere close to theirs. So naturally, he learned to never take these sort of things seriously.

"Listen," he started off, still staring at his game with narrowed eyes. "Just leave me room and don't worry about this science problem. They'll figure it out." His mother then left in a huff, seeing that she wasn't going to get through to him. Once she was gone he rolled his eyes and continued on with his game.

Ryan had just got out of the showers when he saw the news on the TV " I cant believe this is happening" he said he had already made plans to go somewhere but since he had to stay inside he took heed to there warning and stayed inside. " I wonder whats going on how did this happen" he said. He sat down and watched the TV.

Marco Green watched the broadcast with the regulars at the comic shop.

".. okay guys, lets clear out, i'm headfing home"

he got the other guys out, and put up the "sorry, we're closed" sign.

he waled into the back office

"sir?.. i'm heading home"

"what? why?"

"the t.V said theres some virus, it told people to stay in their homes... anyway, no-one is coming in today"

*groan* "okay, Marco... go on"

Marco got his jacket and left, cleaning his glasses as he walked out, heading home, but still listening to and watching the broadcast on hs mobile phone.

As her TV flickered to life, Molly watched the program with an odd sense of regret. Putting out her cigarette, as the news flicked back on, she sighed. The town meeting, broadcasted for two weeks prior for some hot shot man who had won the election that had probably been rigged. If you asked her, at least.

Grabbing her worn out hand bag, and her set of keys, she locked her house and started for the town square. The meeting was starting soon, and she had some things she wondered about.

As the town square filled, the Governor adjusted his tie and looked at his assistant. Both looked nervous, with the news of what had come to light, they had a feeling they would be faced with a landslide of questions that neither of them knew the answer for. Checking his watch, he had five minutes before this conference was to take place.

(OOC: As a heads up, reading back through. No where in the broad cast does it say to stay inside. It just says to avoid animals that look dangerous. )

instead of going home, Marco had gotten into a taxi, and was on the way to the town center.

the cab arrived, and Marco got out.

he walked to the front door, wondering if its ok to go in... he saw a rat, but it didn't look infected.

he looked around, and walked inside, getting to the central hall, waiting for the speech to begin.

A cold breeze brushed through the old train station, making the two homeless females shiver under their only, rather pitiful, blanket. The oldest, Kat, began to stir. It was morning, and that meant it was time to get something to eat. Without money, it was hard. But luckily for her, the homeless shelter was only a few blocks away. Kat sat up and looked down at Emily, still sleeping with her dirty teddy bear in her arms. She smiled, unable to bring herself to wake the child.

Emily knew the drill: every morning Kat left to get breakfast for them. Emily wasn't allowed the leave the station, or to let anyone know she was there. Kat's worse fear was Emily being kidnapped while she was away. There were sick people in this world who would do it, too. Kat carefully got up, tossing her portion of the blanket of Emily to keep her warm. She straightened out her messy clothes, shoved her hands in her pocket, and began to journey to the shelter. They served breakfast there every morning. Kat took Emily sometimes, to let her get out a bit, but most of the time she let the child sleep in.

Jarred arrived at the meeting place, and stood near the front. He wanted to hear everything the experts had to say about this "Virus". As people began to file in,he looked around, wondering how many would show up. Ha saw one or two of his regular customers, but most of the faces were strangers to him.

As the time came, the Governor nodded his head to his assistant and walked out to the podium. "Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome to this town meeting, rather than waste your time with a little speech of things you don't care about, I'm going to get down to business to what you want to know. So, questions anyone?"

~

Molly moved into the back of the crowd, staring forward, as she held tight to her bag. She was nervous, and afraid, she didn't want to be there, but there was a chance it might mean something.
