The Innocence of a child

Tom-Pen

Mysterious Writer
Here is a poem that I quite suddenly found myself inspired to write, I would love to know what you think, I hope you all enjoy!

The Innocence of a child

"Cold winter winds have stolen the heat from many a' day,

For many a' year,

But no winter wind has ever had - nor ever shall have - the way

Or strength to steal the heat from my heart, that burns for you."

Said the man to the woman he loved.

"And never shall that fire within burn in vain,

Never, I swear it!

The coldest cold hath not power enough to make me fain,

From feeling such warmth and love, as I do for you."

Said the woman to the man she loved.

Some Years Later...

"It must be so, for fires once burning have lost their heat,

I wish it wasn't so,

But truly those embers are cold, colder than an icy sheet,

Love hath failed, for me, and for you."

Said the man to the woman he (once) loved.

"You are right, it must be so, for no longer could your fires keep me warm,

Love hath let us down, that is that.

Your fire will not reform,

And neither will my want of its heat."

Said the woman to the man she (once) loved.

The two walked along a snow covered pathway as they spoke, the bitter cold wind blowing furiously.

Between them, hand in hand with the two, walked a child, their young daughter.

The fire within her heart still burning,

Not yet weakened

By the cold

Wind of

The World...
