Sentience, awareness of consciousness, and most importantly, incredible amounts of intelligence drove them to push forward what had brought them together – society.[/SIZE]

[SIZE=10.5pt]The Veselyas grew smarter, they began experimenting with science and technology, and the biggest source of their curiosity was everywhere around them in the form of other sea creatures. In a drive to understand themselves better, they began studying every surrounding sea creature from a colorful lens, marked through the views of sociology, psychology, and most importantly, biology. Genetics was a particular hobby of theirs, and as they learnt more about their environment, the more they meddled with the DNA of sea creatures. Masters at manipulation of the code of life, they slowly took over the entire planet.[/SIZE]
[SIZE=10.5pt]However, the Veselyas made sure to keep the seat of power only with themselves. All smaller sea creatures that opposed them were modified in order to serve them. Genetics, mixed with neuroscience gave them the ability to create armies of monstrosities only they could imagine. Unfortunately, their science and technology was useless against the seemingly endless creatures in the ocean. Rising up solely against the Veselyas, many species of animals protested, attacking without provocation. It was almost as if they were nearing intelligence…[/SIZE]

The Veselyas, puzzled at first, and struck with the great question of how to better themselves with their science, chose an unlikely and revolutionary path. Leaving the original shape of their bodies behind, modifying generations and generations till they perfected it, they created the neural network that perfected them – the Harmonious Convergence. A network of tendons and bulbous powerhouses stored the collective data of the entire Veselyas legacy. All the minds of the Veselyas were truly joined together in the perfect society, and they evolved from seafloor crawling cephalopods into a giant network of neurons, each individual a literal bundle of nerves, in order to best communicate with the network.[/SIZE]

Otherwise they utilize distraction tactics to escape a sticky situation.[/SIZE]
[SIZE=10.5pt]In space, however, they fare a little better. The weightlessness in space is reminiscent of home. Though Veselyas rarely ever come out into space themselves, choosing to creep along the neural net or tinker around in their respective laboratories most of the time. Of the creations of this organic technology, the one the Harmonious Convergence takes the most pride in is the Capital-class Aetherstrike.[/SIZE]

Relying on speed and quick escapes along with its massive size, the Aetherstrike trades off heavy armour for aerodynamic design and tricky maneouvers as a way to intimidate the enemy while other spacecraft handle the attack.[/SIZE]

The Veselya settled down, each in their own laboratories away from each other, but each still amazingly connected to each other all the time. The current state of the civilization was maintained by the Keepers. There are a total of four Keepers – The Keeper of Administration, the Keeper of Diplomacy, the Keeper of Military, and the Keeper of History. It is extremely difficult to acquire a position as a Keeper, as one must innovate something in such a way that it is considered revolutionary to the whole society. Phema, the current Keeper of Military is the latest to be appointed to the post, with his creation of the Aetherstrike, the first Capital class spacecraft the Harmonious Convergence owns.[/SIZE]
[SIZE=10.5pt]Each Veselya owns territory on the seabed, with their own share of resources and livestock. As such, they generally communicate with each other over the neural network. Over time, they have honed their methods of communication. [/SIZE]
[SIZE=10.5pt]There is no concept of an economy as all resources on all the planets are controlled by the individuals. Individuals may gain more land through conquest, but this is a method rarely adopted. Furthermore, expansion of territory is not a great concern for the Veselya, as it in no way furthers your chance of becoming a Keeper. The acclaim of their peers is how power is measured in the Harmonious Convergence. With every positive innovation, individuals may gain more praise among their community. However, the Keepers are essentially the gods of the Veselya. They dictate the direction the Harmonious Convergence will be taking, and their word is law, until their authority is challenged by a new technological breakthrough. The value of the new tech is then debated upon, and if approved, the new Keeper may take their position.[/SIZE]
