Vampires - Unplayable Species

camazotz3.jpg
Also known as the Camazotz, vampires are a species of giant bats that inhabit the Hollow Mountains, as well as a few caves in other mountains and mountain ranges like the Golden Valley Mountains. They're generally docile to humans, but can be quite dangerous if agitated, which can be accomplished by killing (or merely attacking) one of their own, trespassing into their territory during mating season, getting too close to the offspring (which is no easy feat), or simply approaching them during a time of extreme hunger. Vampires usually prey on smaller animals like birds, goats, sheep, deer, and baby animals.

Great Scorpions - Unplayable

Great Scorpions are creatures of the Eastern Desert and the Western. They are vicious and aggressive and were once believed to be untamable until Harun the Resuscitated returned from the desert riding the largest of the great scorpions, leading a whole nest to defeat the invading army of the emperor of the East, and it was then that the warriors and lawmen of Riyakh rode these beasts like horses, for they are swift and quick to strike with their tail and their pincers can destroy even the hardest of rocks. Nevertheless, there are still thousands of wild nests in the deserts and in old temples and ruins.

Great scorpions, similar to their smaller counterparts, have a powerful toxin in their tails; however, depending on the subspecies, it could be lethal or merely paralysing. They could be found either solitary or in small groups of up to ten scorpions, and it's common that two scorpions (usually males) would spar with their stings for either entertainment or dominance; if it's the latter then it's always two males.

Great Spiders
- Unplayable

Similar to great scorpions, great spiders are a species of gigantic spiders whose sizes range from that of a lamb to that of a large buffalo. They are, unlike the scorpions, untamable, and arguably more dangerous than their desert-dwelling cousins. These large spiders live in jungles and dark forests, and, just like the scorpions, could either be found living in solitude or in large groups that could include up to twenty individuals; however, such large nests are rare, and only one is known man which inhabits the ruins of the great fortress whose name could not be spoken by men. They can spin webs and some are even venomous, although their venom only serves to paralyse rather than kill.

Werewolves - Playable
c3a067485229d05a119d8b5c5630a337--wolves-art-dark-fantasy.jpg

A rarer variation of humans, the origins of werewolves, or lycans, are shrouded in mystery. They have the ability to turn into a creature that resembles a cross between a man and a wolf, although most consider it a curse, as they are wilder in this state and most can neither control the transformation nor their other form. They are strengthened by the light of the moon, so most werewolves isolate themselves during a full moon so as not to go on a rampage in the form of a bloodthirsty monster. Werewolves are friendlier towards animals, but that doesn't mean they won't kill them on a full moon, when hungry, or when throwing a tantrum, for other ways that one would turn into the beast is through extreme hunger or emotional outbursts--or lack thereof, making werewolves extremely unstable.

However, those that do learn to control their monstrous side, even on full moons, can transform at will and have complete control over their monster at most times, making them extremely powerful, and some even form small communities in forests.

Rats - Unplayable
370fa559e76d8c65202bf84e3883ca72.jpg

Commonly referred to as the Black Thieves, these rats are known for their large size and their intellect and skill at building machinery and automatons; they are also notorious for stealing tools, scraps, and unwanted appliances, making them unpopular among the world of men and earning them their title. The Black Thieves live in vast cities built beneath the ground by themselves which they expand daily, yet managing not to collapse the earth above. While they cannot speak in human tongues, they communicate with one another in their own vocals, and with humans through morse; however, they rarely come into contact with humans that requires communication. They wear very little to no clothing, which is limited mainly to belts and headwear.

Dragons - Unplayable

Dragons are creatures of mythology; they come in many sizes, shapes, and colours and have a plethora of different abilities each, the best known of which is the ability to breathe fire. The most notable types are the Wyrm, which walks on all fours and has two wings upon its back, the Zhou, which has a serpentine body and can fly without wings, the Sea Serpent which is another serpentine dragon that lives in the sea and cannot fly, the Wyvern, which walks on two of its legs like a bird, and the Drake, which is the greatest of all the dragons and most powerful, as well as the rarest.

Dire Wolves - Unplayable

Dire Wolves are a type of large wolves. In behaviour, they are like normal wolves, but their size makes them much more dangerous. They live in the icy forests of the North, while a subspecies of Dire Wolves, known as the Black Wolves, lives in the dark forest of Alterwood.

Bleakstead -
116d70e9266d58571f82e78bac2ff52e.jpg

An old town in the West, Bleakstead is notorious for its gunslingers, bounty hunters, mercenaries, and good horses. It is average in size, but it’s still a dangerous place to the unwary. The town is dotted with wells and containers of water and pumps, as its presence in the desert makes finding water on the surface quite a challenge. There’s also an old station there where trains still come by every now and then.

Vacourt -

Another well-known city, Vacourt is quite large. A river runs through it and it overlooks a sea. Its buildings are a few storeys high each, and it has many towers and bridges. It’s known for its literature and poetry.

Lakehurst -

A city toward the west by a large lake that belongs to the underworld, crime runs rampant here. Winged Demons make the people of this city work like dogs - none are as world-threatening as those seeking power in larger cities...but there are more of them, and for what they lack in vision, they make up for with their willingness to kill, bribe, and cheat themselves into success.

Riyakh -

A bustling port city in the East, Riyakh is known for its scorching temperatures and humidity. Any foreigners are immediately overwhelmed by the heat and it can be hard to adapt to the area. While Riyakh is known for petty crime as many of its citizens are poor and resort to pickpocketing, it is regarded as a fairly safe city as long as one keeps their possessions close and wits about them. Being a port town, Riyakh is rich in trade and known for having fantastic cuisine and a variety of thriving cultures. Additionally, Riyakhis are known for keeping giant scorpions in place of horses to ride by the police, although their horses are also known to be of the best. It is one of the three leading world forces.

Astia -

A small underwater city enclosed in a protective bubble equipped to maintain oxygen levels and keep water out, the only way to reach Astia is by submarine. The city is highly reclusive and dislikes outsiders, so they only have one place where one can bypass the bubble in order to enter the city. That one area, referred to as the Gate, is well-guarded and customs is very strict. Reaching Astia is also a struggle for it is near the bottom of a bunch of underwater landforms that are poorly documented and difficult to navigate. Astia is mostly self-sufficient and disdains trade as a source of income. Temperatures in Astia are generally cold due to the fattle sunlight manages to reach the city.

Itel -

A half-finished city in the sky, Itel is still in construction due to the fact that work on the flying city was ground to a halt during the war. Now, workers are rushing to finish the project so that the world’s first floating city would soon be habitable. The only current inhabitants of Itel are construction workers or the owners who funded the project, the Itel Family - hence the name. The airship docks are completed, but the majority of the city’s buildings remain in construction. Airship docks are located all around the city to allow easy access. It is kept afloat by a series of powerful jet propellers that were years in development and testing to ensure they were quiet enough to enable quiet living but also powerful enough to keep the city afloat. Itel is located approximately 7000ft off the ground.

Westnes -

One of the three leading forces in the world, Westnes is a grand kingdom located at the Northwest near the tip of the Hollow Mountains. The kingdom is surrounded by a low wall with mighty gates that face the East, although there’s another entrance, called the Western Path, which goes through the Hollow Mountains in the form of a tunnel. Outside the walls of Westnes are, on the South, vast farms. To the North is a cold forest of pine and to the East is a forest of oak. In the middle of the kingdom is a great castle, underneath which are the dungeons, which are unique in their architecture, as well as a vast chamber built by the Dwarves when the once roamed the world that contains a sea of gold and jewels, although rumors claim that those unworthy of the treasure are cursed by it should they steal from it, and nobody has been brave (or foolish) enough to test if these rumors were true. It is currently ruled by King Callum Dixon, who has a single son and heir to the throne--the young Prince Delvin. The Dixon family has ruled for many years now, and Callum and his son are widely revered by their people. Westnes is friendly to most, but they have no place for the bringers of chaos.

Horn Station -

Horn Station is a train station nearby the big train center of Horclef. While Horn Station is widely used, few trains actually stop there due to the fact that few of its inhabitants have enough money to pay fare for passage. Horn Station is commonly known as the “Hobo Station” or the “Station of The Homeless” for nearly all the people who live around it are highly impoverished. The space around Horn Station is taken up by small apartments packed with people, and the sewage system is known to back up on a daily basis. Living conditions are terrible and some say you can smell Horn Station from miles away. Horn Station has long been an epicenter for the poor and homeless, having a reputation for drugs and crime, and was named after the drug referred to as “Horn” which is made from the horns of giant toads and is a heavy psychedelic substance.

Horclef -

Horclef is a massive train station that nearly every cargo train passes through. While it is not much of a city by itself, as it is mainly inhabited by railroad companies and workers, it is a notable landmark nonetheless. Horclef is located near the center of the land, making it a valuable location for shipping. Days in Horclef follow a very strict schedule, with most workers waking up at the break of dawn and going to work. Rush hour arrives at around 5:30am, and workers don’t arrive home until around 8:30pm. The company bosses, on the other hand, frequent the many bars around the city. It is not a popular destination for the wealthy, for there is little to do in Horclef aside from work.

Brassturm -

One of the leading forces of the world, Brassturm is a vast and powerful city. Surrounded by the Mountains of the Golden Valley to the North and the the Sea of Serpents to the South, it mostly relies on the manufacturing of machinery to gain wealth and power, and its army is not to be reckoned with. Brassturm lacks walls, but its borders are surrounded by turrets and men who man them, as well as watchtowers that also serve as nests for snipers. Brassturm is run by a voted president and a council of four counselors.

Culebra -

The most notorious island in the Archibbean Archipelago, the island of Culebra is home to the pirates of the world. To the Southeast is a cove, jagged rocks to the West, a shore to the East, and to the North a harbour. The Eastern and Northern parts of the island are built into a small town while the rest is inhabited by the jungle and its animals. Culebra is lawless and unruled by a government; however, the more powerful pirates seem to have a stronger voice in this haven of lawlessness and sea thieves.

The Archibbean Archipelago -

An archipelago in the Archibbean sea, it houses over eight hundred islands. However, only a few of those are actually large enough to be inhabited, and even less are habitable due to terrain and wildlife, making only nine of them habitable, the most notorious which is Culebra. There are myths of sea monsters more terrible even than dragons in the archipelago, making its waters quite feared.

The Hollow Mountains -

A great mountain range that extends from the Northwest to the Southeast, these mountains are called so for their internal structure; on the inside, they are like vast halls with occasional clusters of precious metals or gems. They are inhabited by a species of giant bats that feed on small animals, but are generally passive to anything larger than a sheep; however, they can still be quite dangerous. Among the mountains is a lower land, almost like a plateau (but lower), with a temple and shelter where a family of monkeys live, as well as springs. The mountains overlook a river on the Western side and the Westnes Kingdom on the Eastern side. Rumors claim that dragons live in these mountains as well.
