The Freezing Sun RP

War. War never changes.
The Romans waged war to gather slaves and wealth. Spain built an empire from its lust for gold and territory. Hitler shaped a battered Germany into an economic superpower.
But war never changes.
In the 21st century, war was still waged over the resources that could be acquired. Only this time, the spoils of war were also its weapons: Petroleum and Uranium. For these resources, China would invade Alaska, the US would annex Canada, and the European Commonwealth would dissolve into quarreling, bickering nation-states, bent on controlling the last remaining resources on Earth.
In 2077, the storm of world war had come again. In two brief hours, most of the planet was reduced to cinders. And from the ashes of nuclear devastation, a new civilization would struggle to arise.
A few were able to reach the relative safety of the large underground Vaults. But others, weren't so lucky.
However, most thought that the world had a cleansing. But that, was not the case. In the north, Annexed Canada seemed to have flourished with life, albeit twisted and deformed, it had survived what was the nuclear devastation. 133 years later, new communities have arisen, and old ones have fallen.
Vault 0, what was considered to be the Nucleus of all the vaults, had gone wrong, where budget cutbacks and human error had caused the Vault to lose backup systems. The Calculator, which was the vault supercomputers nickname, became corrupted and instead of releasing the stockpile of robots to make the Wasteland safe for mankind, the Vault 0 robots began to exterminate all life. Once the robots were done with Vault 0 they began to move up north, destroying anything in their path. Soon enough they entered Annexed Canada through the southwest and continued their attack. This caused the people of Annexed Canada to move north, while also fighting off the army, they mostly lost men, women and children from the robots and the harsh weather that had been created from the climates off-balance. Though the people were sent north, the army had managed to be defeated. And now in 2210 the people of Annexed Canada get ready to move back south. However a new threat arrises, a faction by the name of The Suns. Which is a secretive faction formed from Chinese remnants, a faction in which worships a Sun god. However, the Chinese are still considered a myth. The Suns have been linked to multiple cases of disappearances of nearby towns and tribes. Only leaving a frozen sun emblem behind as the only evidence of who did it. Tension is rising between factions because of it, and no one knows who The Suns are. Factions prepare for a war they don't even know they're about to fight yet, the frozen wasteland has taken a toll on them. But even with supposed war on the horizon, you know one thing that will never change: Human Nature.

"Welcome to the Northwest Territories, you've traveled far my dear friend. All but power awaits you. Are you worthy of this great land of ours? The white snow might blind you, the weather might cripple and stain you, the people might tire you into a death caused by exhaustion. Your journey, is only just beginning, don't fail your ancestors now, set a precedent for what's to come, and for what NEEDS to come. May the cold forever warm you up, and keep you alive."

Dan had been travelling for a good few weeks on his mission from his two factions. The BOS sent him north to scout or areas for tech whilst the children of atom sent him north to spread the word of atom. Both of these objectives he felt were the reason he was created. His purpose if you will.

As he went farther and farther north he would combat some of the toughest conditions this world has ever known. The freezing cold to the terrifying mutated creatures. Throughout all of this though he continued on.

He eventually made it to what was known as Quebec and thought he would take refuge in one of the ruined houses. He hadn't run into any people in a long time but he might in this city.

Karasic sat in the ranch house, his Yao Guai curled up next to him, keeping him warm. He had a textbook in his hand, which detailed the history of the US and the Commonwealths. It has been a few months since he took shelter here, and his contact with anyone else has been minimal. Although, recently he heard talk from a caravan that passed by of hitmen coming to clear the house of him and his companion.

Yuka had arrived at Fort Good Hope a couple of days ago, a small merchant town with a couple of Inns and peaceful natives. Ghouls and all.

With her pet wolf, Lucidum, licking her face she would awake in the morning to start another day on her journey. She grabbed her daggers and crossbow and put on her thick coat, while handing Lucidum a chunk of cleansed meat.

"No matter what happens, I'll feed you the best food that there is." Yuka remarked, patting Lucidum on the head.

If there's one thing Yuka learned while growing up, it's be kind and gentle to any animals, and they have a huge chance to be kind and gentle back. But of course, with Lucidum, it is a bond that is stronger than just Trust. It is true friendship.

Karasic closed the textbook, marking the page he left off on, which discussed WW2. He leaned his head back into his companion's stomach, and reached over to pet its head. He closed his eyes, picturing what he just read in his mind, re imaging battles, justifying or criticizing decisions of long gone politicians.

Gerry knocks on the door of the abandoned ranch, with a .44 in his hand, and wind outside slightly calm, as each of his knocks on the door bring down more snow.

"We know you're in there you little shit" he exclaims, turning to his buddy.

These guys were just normal mercenaries, trying to make a living, someone hired them to take out a yao guai and his owner, for fear of the yao guai becoming hostile and causing more harm than good. Plus, the person who ordered the hit is an animal abuser, and has a specific hatred for Yao Guais. So that could also be a factor.

"Johnny boy, grab me the sledgehammer." Gerry said, as Johnny hands him the sledge from his backpack.

he slams hard on the door where the henges are, as the door comes crashing down and the mercenaries enter.

Karasic jumps up, slightly shaking the floor from his sudden movement. His Yao Guai gets up as well, albeit a bit slower than him. He doesn't say anything, there was no need for questions, he knew who these people are, and why they were here. He moves over to his sledgehammer and picks it up. He only mutters two words, a command to his Yao Guai:

"Get 'em"

He charges towards one of the mercenaries.

As he slept through the night Dan felt the uncomfortable feeling that he was being watched. He kept his pistol ready and loaded in case anything ambushed him through the night though thankfully nothing came. He was slightly surprised seeing as his many years of experience usually never betrayed him though he was ok with it this time. As he readied his gear the next morning he continued to feel this feeling and it made him quite uneasy. He hurried and left the city. From the information he was briefed on before he departed he knew that civilizations in Canada were more populated the farther east you went. Dan entered Canada from the west which was a problem and a solution at the same time. He could learn to deal with the elements without also having to deal with raiders. He had a long road ahead of him and didn't want to waste any time though this uneasy feeling just wouldn't leave him. Its one thing to feel that way at night alone but for that feeling to continue either meant he was crazy or that he was right.

He made his way out of the city and continued walking through the thick of the forest and as he did he readied his shishkabab just in case he needed it. As he walked along sadly he was right. He needed it.

Out of nowhere he heard a shot that of which came from some laser weapon. He turned just in time to see where it came from as it flew into his left hand. The burn hurt incredibly bad and while this wasn't his first laser wound it still hurt like shit. He turned and saw a man sitting in a tree with his laser sniper rifle pointed right at him.

"On the ground now!!"

The man shouted. Knowing he couldn't use his plasma sniper rifle with his fucked up hand he obeyed and got onto his knees with his hands above his head. The man jumped down and walked over to him and without saying a word hit him with the butt of his rifle knocking him out cold. The man with the plasma sniper rifle was tribal in nature and wore the skins of wolves as cloths. This man named Connor drug Dan's body east towards his small camp.

(Tosh if you remember this character I will love you forever)

Gerry, with the sledgehammer in hand still, takes a swing at the Yao guai, but missed, and the yao guai pummeled him through the wall of the ranch and buried him in the snow outside. After a loud crash and some heavy breathing, Gerry was knocked unconscious.

Johnny had avoided the yao guai, and made a b-line, charging straight for Karasic, with a combat knife.

Another mercenary, that didn't enter the ranch from the outside, Named Kip, threw a spear at the yao guai before it had a chance to maul Gerry. It didn't do anything, the yao guai got even more agitated than it was before. Kip saw this, and started sprinting as fast as he could around the ranch. Thick coats can slow you down.

Karasic notices the Yao Guai run Gerry through the wall, he shouted

"Finish him off!"

He ran towards Johnny, swinging his sledge with all his might. He was aiming for the head, but a blow to the neck or even the upper abdomen would do major damage.

Tuyaara watched on as her fellow tribes men dragged a small band of captured people onto one of the taiz the elk pulled around. She didn't show much emotion as her fellow Sakha began to skin the prisoners and ready their skin to be made into leather. All this meant to Tuyaara was that her own people would be better off and that these people who would have died anyway served a useful purpose.

Johnny sprinted full force at the Yettie twice his size, with dagger in hand and fearlessness in his eyes, before he could reach the yettie however, the constant slinging of the Yetties sledge slammed into Johnny's chest, a loud crack is heard, but while the force of the impact threw Johnny back against the wall behind him, the knife in his hand managed to get thrown into Karasic's arm.

While this was happening, Kip managed to hide behind some bushes and a tree blending in with the snow. Hiding from the Yao Guai that he harmed.

"Fuck fuck fuck Gerry and Johnny are dead. I gotta get the fuck outa here" He mumbled to himself, laying down in the cold wasteland, like the coward he is.

Karasic winces at the wound, he quickly pulls the knife out and drops his hammer. He goes over to Johnny and puts him on flat on the ground. He searches him and takes anything of use, (2 stimpacks, his knife, and a busted shotgun with 3 shells) then calls his Yao Guai back to him. The Yao Guai makes almost a whine, and stays with Gerry's body, nudging it with his nose. "Alright alright... You can have him" Karasic says, and the Yao Guai digs in. He injects himself with a stimpack, and begins to pack his things, the area isn't going to be safe anymore. Once he's done, he goes outside and surveys the area.

Kip realizes he's only got three choices, get sniffed out by the yao guai, die in the cold, or run for it. He chooses option 3 and begins to sprint Northeast, heading in the direction of Colville Lake. Right now this ranch is located in between Fort Good Hope and Colville Lake, so it'll be a couple of miles before Kip reaches the lake, and whatever awaits him there.

He turns back as he's running through the frozen forest and sees the Yettie ever so slightly in between the trees, this made him even more motivated to nope the fuck out of there. Kip doubled his speed, he began to make a lot of noise however in the process.

The Yao Guai hears the noise, and instantly sprints towards it, Karasic, however, not being very perceptive , did not notice. "Hey, what the hell are you doing?" He yells, but the Yao Guai doesn't reply, and keeps sprinting. "Ah.. Fuck it" he says and runs after the beast with his belongings.

Kip continued sprinting for a good 10 minutes, while hearing the yao guai behind him, he was getting tired to the point where he stopped sprinting and began walking, he hid in a hole/cave of sorts nearby, in hopes he could take a break and not get caught.

The Yao Guai slowed down, and  sniffed the ground, trying to find the man's scent. It didn't take long, as the scent of his sweat was strong in the air. The Yao Guai got into a stealthy form, and slowly walked towards the cave, and pounced quickly. Karasic came up shortly after, hearing a scream coming from the cave.

Kip was screaming in pain, as his left arm was ripped off from the socket and blood began spewing everywhere. Kip began screaming and squirming around in agonizing pain. Kip slowly but surely crawled to the very back part of the cave where the yao guai couldn't fit, he slouched against the wall as he began to pass out as he stared out into the vicious yao Guais eyes.

YUKA:

She had eatin breakfast already, and decided she'd gathered everything she needed in this town. She packed up her belongings, called Lucidum, and began traveling Southeast towards Yellowknife, the known town of The Gǒus.

Weak from days of travel in the bitter cold, Cobalt slowly trudged the Canadian terrain. With each step more energy was sapped from him with each step he took, less hope, less chance of a survival. Fenrir came back into sight of Cobalt Alerting him of something, but it wasn't a warning bark it was a happier tone. Where they finally back within the clutches of Civilization?

The Settlement of some sort came into view, Cobalt didn't care if it was raiders, Enclave, or even a town of dead bodies he knew that without assistance he would die soon. He could hear a bustle inside, that and the wind were all he could make out. As soon as he Reached the barrier he examined it all he read was: Hope. He laughed at it internally then began to cry out for some one to hear, to save himself, "Heeeey! Help!" He would repeat until someone answered, as he did it the Dog Barked and howled.

Karasic made his way into the cave, he had to crouch down to fit in, He saw the blood dripping from his companion's mouth, and spotted the trail, he followed it to find a man with his arm missing, bleeding profusely.

"Hm.. Maybe he knows about those mercs" he said and pulled out the other stimpack, he injected the stump where his arm used to be, picked him up, and hauled him out of the cave, his companion happily following behind him.

Someone with a hunting rifle would come around from the other side of the building

"What's your deal, stranger?"

Yuka was a couple yards away from the entrance to the town when she turned around and noticed a person and their companion, and listened to the dog bark in the distance.

Kip woke up hunched over, being carried by Karasic. He was too out of it to speak, but he hesitantly whispered "head northeast" as he passed out yet again.

Karasic smirked, and changed direction to head northeast. He looks at his companion "Well bud, I think we'll get there quicker if you take me there, eh?". He gets onto the creatures back, holding Kip on his lap, and it sprints off, due northeast

The town guard looked at the logo on Cobalts clothes, and didn't recognize it. He decides to let him in the town however.

"This is Fort Good Hope, full of things that'll satisfy your every need. Purchase whatever you want, whenever you want." He said with a smile, as he opened up the front entrance gate.

Yuka would begin to walk back towards the town after that mysterious man entered the town. She wanted those people to be safe, and she thought he looked... out of place.

Karasic smirked, and changed direction to head northeast. He looks at his companion "Well bud, I think we'll get there quicker if you take me there, eh?". He gets onto the creatures back, holding Kip on his lap, and it sprints off, due northeast

Kip would wake up a couple of minutes later, breathing heavily and almost in a snappy motion he fell off of the yao Guais back with a heart wrenching scream as he hit the snowing ground.

Kip was immobile because of his loss of blood. He kinda just laid there in the snow, waiting for the Yettie to pick him up again.
