Temporal Aurielian Guard
War. War never changes.
The Romans waged war to gather slaves and wealth. Spain built an empire from its lust for gold and territory. Hitler shaped a battered Germany into an economic superpower.
But war never changes.
In the 21st century, war was still waged over the resources that could be acquired. Only this time, the spoils of war were also its weapons: Petroleum and Uranium. For these resources, China would invade Alaska, the US would annex Canada, and the European Commonwealth would dissolve into quarreling, bickering nation-states, bent on controlling the last remaining resources on Earth.
In 2077, the storm of world war had come again. In two brief hours, most of the planet was reduced to cinders. And from the ashes of nuclear devastation, a new civilization would struggle to arise.
A few were able to reach the relative safety of the large underground Vaults. But others, weren't so lucky.
However, most thought that the world had a cleansing. But that, was not the case. In the north, Annexed Canada seemed to have flourished with life, albeit twisted and deformed, it had survived what was the nuclear devastation. 133 years later, new communities have arisen, and old ones have fallen.
Vault 0, what was considered to be the Nucleus of all the vaults, had gone wrong, where budget cutbacks and human error had caused the Vault to lose backup systems. The Calculator, which was the vault supercomputers nickname, became corrupted and instead of releasing the stockpile of robots to make the Wasteland safe for mankind, the Vault 0 robots began to exterminate all life. Once the robots were done with Vault 0 they began to move up north, destroying anything in their path. Soon enough they entered Annexed Canada through the southwest and continued their attack. This caused the people of Annexed Canada to move north, while also fighting off the army, they mostly lost men, women and children from the robots and the harsh weather that had been created from the climates off-balance. Though the people were sent north, the army had managed to be defeated. And now in 2210 the people of Annexed Canada get ready to move back south. However a new threat arrises, a faction by the name of The Suns. Which is a secretive faction formed from Chinese remnants, a faction in which worships a Sun god. However, the Chinese are still considered a myth. The Suns have been linked to multiple cases of disappearances of nearby towns and tribes. Only leaving a frozen sun emblem behind as the only evidence of who did it. Tension is rising between factions because of it, and no one knows who The Suns are. Factions prepare for a war they don't even know they're about to fight yet, the frozen wasteland has taken a toll on them. But even with supposed war on the horizon, you know one thing that will never change: Human Nature.
"Welcome to the Northwest Territories, you've traveled far my dear friend. All but power awaits you. Are you worthy of this great land of ours? The white snow might blind you, the weather might cripple and stain you, the people might tire you into a death caused by exhaustion. Your journey, is only just beginning, don't fail your ancestors now, set a precedent for what's to come, and for what NEEDS to come. May the cold forever warm you up, and keep you alive."
