Delaney

Delaney's heart was beating faster than normal. Her grey eyes were bright and lively as she gazed around her, the tall buildings deceiving her into believing she was shorter than she was. Liam shouted her name, and she jogged to catch up with him, her duffel bag bouncing up and down on her shoulder. They turned down a few side streets, and the crowd slowly thinned, Delaney dodging less and less people as they turned. Liam slowed and grabbed her hand, treating her like a small child as the crossed a final street, and she frowned as he let go of her hand.

A large, abandoned building loomed up above her, the walls grey and peeling, ivy clinging to the structure's sides. She concentrated, imagining swiping a baby wipe across a full face of makeup, removing the layer of powder and liquid. The glamour slowly faded away, revealing an elaborate and breathtakingly wonderful church-looking building. Liam met her eyes and raised his arms. "Welcome home, little sister." he said happily, reaching back for his bags and slinging them back over his shoulder. He shoved his way through the gate, Delaney quick to follow as the iron gates shut with an echoing finality. She followed her brother up the marble steps and stood behind him as he knocked on the large wooden doors, the sound loud and rich.

They swung open to reveal a large foyer, and she gasped, its beauty was stunning, and she gazed up and around her in wonder. Her brother motioned for her to stop, and as she looked up she saw a figure descending a staircase across the room.

Antonio

Antonio sighed as he sat across from Freddie, moving a rook on the chessboard forward. His nerves were fluttering again even as his much older companion reclined in his chair with almost unflappable poise. “They should be here soon,” he said, pulling out his pocket watch to look at the time. He planned on greeting the new residents of the institute as soon as they walked in the door. As the only real staff at the institute, and most of the Shadow Hunters busy for various reasons, Antonio was the one who was available to introduce them to their new residence. “What were their names- Liam and Denaley?”

Freddie yawned and stretched in his seat like a cat, his tail curling around the arm-rests as his gem-like eyes looked at Antonio half-lidded, “Kiddo, calm down. It’s just a couple Shadow Hunters. You’ve lived with their kind your whole life- and these ones are nice to boot. Supposedly at least- Magnus was too busy getting another one of his fancy parties together to give me a full run down despite he supposedly being in charge,” he said haughty as he scratched his neck.

Antonio’s ears pricked up as he heard the creak of the institute door. “They’re here.” He siad, getting up and dashing practically to the stairs as he heard Freddie yawn and move much much more slowly to follow him. He slowed down and tried to look presentable as he walked down the steps, looking at the two Shadowhunters, “Good evening - welcome to the New York Insitute. Can I help you with your bags?” He asked as he descended. Freddie meanwhile watched for now from the shadows at the top of the stairway, in the doorframe to the room they’d been in.

Delaney

Delaney smiled at the boy who had greeted her. "Good evening," she said, inclining her head to him. Liam made his way to the boy, grasping his hand and shaking it. "Liam Greyweather, and this is my younger sister, Delaney. It's great to meet you." he said kindly. The boy took her bags, and she removed her coat hanging it up on the nearest coatrack, and placing her boots directly underneath. Her socks were bright purple, much to her embarrassment, but she knew there was nothing for her to do in the moment to change them. Her ankles were painted with runes, thick, black, lines swirling out from underneath her leggings.

She turned back to the boy who had grabbed her bags. She smiled again at him, meeting his eyes. "Hi, I'm Delaney. Thanks for grabbing my bags. Could you show me to where my room is? I don't wanna get lost," she said shyly, her cheeks a pale pink. She may be independent, but this was a whole new environment, something she needed time to adjust to.

Antonio smiled at Delaney, nodding to her as he approcahed, "Good evening Miss Greyweather," he said before taking Liam's hand and shaking it, "Its nice to meet you both. I'm Antonio Daniels, the only staff member here at the institute, so I handle ... well, a smattering of everything that needs done here really." He proceeded to pick up the bags as the Greyweathers removed their coats and shoes, his light duster still on due to the fact he never seemed to be able to stay warm in the Institute. He blinked at the sudden appearance of bright purple socks that sort of clashed with the rest of Delaney's look but shrugged it aside. If it werent for how slick some of the floors were with socks on he'd wear them all the time himself.

His head tilted to the side a bit as she turned and looked at him, her brilliant smile being sent his way. When she asked him to show her to her room, Antonio smiled and nodded, "Absolutely, It'd be my pleasure to- er, do you need an escort as well Mr. Greyweather?"

A cough was heard as Freddie began descending the stairs, "Oh for christ's sake Toni, relax. I thought I already said that," the redhead drawled as he descended the staircase, jewel-like eyes wide and dancing as he took in the new arrivals, his tail swishing behind him, "Sorry for my friend's nervousness, endearing as it may be," He said with a smirk, making ANtonio flush and shoot him a dirty look.

Delaney

Delaney smiled at the warlock who descended the tall staircase. She noted his tail and jewel-like eyes, his warlock marks. "No worries," she said, nodding towards the warlock. "Thank you for the warm welcome." Liam had already gone off, no doubt to find the training space or his bedroom. She felt awkward and alone without his calming presence, but didn't show it as she followed Antonio to the living quarters and then her bedroom. She smiled and thanked him for the escort. "Thank you again," she said kindly. "Is there anything I should know before unpacking and exploring?" She raised a dark brow questioningly, opening the door and walking inside her new bedroom.

She enjoyed the gray walls and the dark decorations pleased her. She knew she'd have to do some re-decorating, but she'd wait. Throwing her back on her bed, Delaney looked outside the large window, taking a seat on the sill and crossing her legs, looking back at Antonio.

Antonio

Antonio sighed at Freddie's antics, rolling his eyes as he shouldered the bags. He led the nice-looking girl down the halls of the Institute, bringing her to the housing quarters of the building, bringing her bags to the room she was going to be using during her stay. He set the bags down just outside the room and stretched a bit before turning to her, a bit unsure what to say. Let no one say he was the picture of social grace and interaction. He gave her a smile as she thanked him, "Of course, it was my pleasure to help you."

He watched her go into the room, leaning his weight against the doorframe as she sat down on her windowsill, her bag thrown on the bed, "Not much- you've been in an Institute before I assume? The layout is generally similar to the others I've visisted and we have all the usual amenities. The Lightwoods live here of course, as does Jace- you'll meet them at some point; they're out on some sort of mission if I remember correctly."

Freddie

Freddie smirked at his friend before giving them a lazy wave as they left and turning to follow Liam; he was curious about the Shadowhunter and wanted to get to know him- wondering if he would be like the wild Jace or the serious Alec. He moving leisurely through the hallways, eventually arriving at the training room, curious as to what the Shadow Hunter was doing. It wasn't unusual for them to be obsessed with training, but after a journey he'd have thought Liam would have at least wanted to see his room first. He stopped in the doorway of the room and looked in.

Delaney

Delaney smiled as the boy mentioned the Lightwoods. "I figured they'd be gone when I first got here." She began unpacking her bag, pulling out training clothes. "I lived with them for a short while when my parents were killed. I'm still close with them." She'd trained with them, playing with them, and lived with them for a few years. They were almost a second family for her, and she had missed them. Izzy and Alec had convinced the Greyweathers to move to New York City.

Delaney walked into the bathroom, leaving the door open slightly as she changed into leggins and a sports bra, pulling a white t-shirt over it. Runes covered her chest and arms, the thick black swirls reaching from her collarbone to her hands. "I'm going to go take a walk around, see what's going on. You can join, if you'd like." And with that, she headed out into the hallway, her feet bare and her toes bright, covered in white polish that matched her nails. Her chocolate hair was tied into two braids that swung across her back as she set off down the hallway.

Liam

Liam sighed, the training room of the New York City institute was large and spacious, and was devoid of Shadowhunters as he turned in a circle, studying the weapon wall, targets, and the mats. He turned to the doorway, where a redheaded warlock leaned, studying Liam with intensity. "Hello, Liam Greyweather. I don't believe we met, I must've taken off before you arrived," he said politely, gazing at the man. He sighed, running his hand through his hair as the warlock's jewel-like eyes roamed.

He tilted his head, his sharp jawline catching the shadows from the skylight as he waited for a response.

Antonio

Antonio blinked and smiled a bit when she mentioned knowing the Lightwoods and having been invited by them to come live with them at the Institute, "Oh I see, thats why you two decided to move here? I never actually heard the whole story as to why, just that you were going to be joining us. Do you know Jace as well? Or just Izzy and Alec?" He asked curious about this new addition to the Institute and how she was connected to his current employers.

His gaze followed her as she walked towards the bathroom, flushing a bit as she went in and began changing, leaving the door ajar abit. He looked away and instead looked out the window intently; it wasn't that he wouldnt... appreciate the view, but he had (between the Lightwood parents and Freddie, who was still a bit old fashioned despite being far more flirtatious than Antonio) been raised to not look in on others whilst changing. "I don't ahve any other duties for the day for a while so I'd enjoy it." He said with a smile as he set off with her, "So, where did you live before here?"

Freddie

Freddie watched Liam look around the room, examining the selection of weapons and targets with a critical eye. He brightened up a bit when the other young man looked over to his direction and introduced himself. Freddie walked over to Liam, eyes roaming and looking over the boy's chocolate hair and steely blue eyes and of course, his prominent muscles. He held out his hand to shake Liam's with a cocky grin, "The name is Friedrich Gaerwulf, though I go by Freddie in this modern day- a name like Friedrich in America still draws a bit too many looks." he said with a chuckle, tail swishing behind him as he walked, "Like the training room? Its not something I usually use as my skills lay in the arcane and runic as opposed to brawn but I can appreciate its own type of beauty," he chuckled.

Delaney

Delaney smiled. "Jace was my best friend growing up," she said happily. "Though it's been a while since I've seen him." She turned down a hall, taking a sharp left turn, wandering once again. "Do you know when they'll be back?" She was glad Antonio had accompanied her through the institute. She'd never find her way back without him. She gazed at the high ceilings that housed a skylight every so often. She was in awe of it's beauty. It had been a while since she'd seen an institute like this one. She'd lived in Alicante and San Diego, but neither were as grand as this.

"I lived in Alicante for a few years. San Diego. We moved a lot." she said, her voice slightly sullen. She turned once down another hallway. "What about you, hm? Born and raised New York, or did you move here?" She turned, walking backwards despite her unfamiliar surroundings and met his gaze.

Liam

Liam grasped the warlock's hand and shook it, his hand firm and steady. "Nice to meet you, Freddie." He was nothing but polite to Freddie, he had been raised to greet with kindness at a young age. He tossed his jacket on one of the benches scattered across the training room and took another look around, his arms covered in thick runes. "It's a great training room. I look forward to working in it in the future." He knew Alec, Jace, and Izzy would be home son, and he looked forward to sparring matches with the Lightwoods. They'd been close at a young age, and Liam had moved here to be with him. Her sister was close with Jace, and he knew she'd agree if she got to see him again. "So, how's day to day life here at NYC? It's been a while."

Antonio

Antonio smiled as she talked about her friends, her brilliant smile lighting up her face, "They should be back relatively soon. It wasn't anything major, just a hunt that required a lot of people admittedly," He said with a chuckle as they walked through the institute. It was interesting to see the awe of a newly arrived Shadowhunter. He'd forgotten his own from when he had arrived as a child and the Lightwoods and Herondale had grown up living here so they too were used to the grandeur of a large institute.

"I was born in the New York Metropolitan area, not entirely sure where. I was bounced between foster homes for the early part of my childhood before Freddie- er, that's the Warlock you met at the entrance, Friedrich or Freddie as he goes by," Antonio explained a bit awkwardly, "found me. He recognized I had the sight and arranged to have me 'adopted' in a way by the Lightwoods. Not officially of course, but I have lived and trained here for most of my life."

Freddie

Freddie smiled at Liam's firm grip before leaning back against one of the secured racks of weapons, watching the taller young man strip off his jacket. His gaze lingered on the Shadowhunters thick runes; Freddie would deny it if he was ever questioned, but he'd gotten some tattoos himself on his back because he was jealous of the Shadowhunters marks when he was a younger Warlock. "Has it? I wasn't aware of any details surrounding you all- Magnus was vague as ever," He huffed a bit before stretching a little, "Frankly I'm not the type of person to ask- life as a Warlock is less... exciting than life as a Nephilim -but its rather simple. You all train, and when your Head needs you to hunt down a demon or rather problematic Downworlder, you hunt them down. And try not to die of boredom." He chuckled, "I suppose you could go out and entertain yourself at the clubs or many touristy places, if thats to your liking."
