Shisui Mikazuki

full

no slide
A Basic Definition

One of Shisui’s most notable personality traits is his tendency to simply speak his mind. If someone asks for his honest opinion, he’ll tell them exactly what he thinks without pulling his punches. Most of the time, he’s not trying to be malicious but simply believes that it would be disrespectful to the person to sugarcoat things. While this makes Shisui seem like he has good intentions, he’s obviously no saint. In fact, he can get pretty harsh when it comes to people he really doesn’t like or wants to mess with. The worst thing is, Shisui is fully capable of insulting or criticizing someone with a smile on his face. He really used to be a much calmer and sweeter child according to Mikado, but perhaps all the years of neglect had twisted his personality…just a little bit…

“ Am I a boy or a girl? Does it really matter? After all, I’ll still be the same person in the end. ”
Shisui

Introduction

Name: Shisui Mikazuki

Pronunciation: She-swee Me-kah-zoo-ki

Etymology: Shisui means “the water that is not moving” while Mikazuki means “crescent moon” in Japanese.

Nicknames/Aliases: Sui, “Little Flurry”

Age: 14

Gender: Unspecified (Will be using the pronoun “he” as English lacks a singular gender neutral pronoun)

Date of Birth: August 15th

Height: 5’2” | 157.5cm

Weight: 107lbs | 48.5kg

Sexuality: Ambiguous

Respective God: Tsukuyomi-no-Mikoto, god of the moon

Family/Clan: Mikazuki

Hometown: Mt. Silvarant, Estella of the Esmet region

Blood Type: O

Handedness: Left-handed

Signature/Base Color: Green

Appearance: Although the Mikazuki family is most commonly attributed with white hair and amethyst eyes, Shisui instead has blond hair and grey eyes which is another one of the reasons as to why his family generally avoided him. While a little on the short side (he claims that this is simply because he has yet to have gone through his growth spurt), Shisui doesn’t really have many features that stick out in particular though his gender is often a mystery to those who may not know him on an intimate level.

Bio/Backstory

“When I couldn’t see, there had always been someone guiding me but now that hand is no longer in reach.”

From what Shisui could remember, he had been born blind, something that had never been heard of in the Mikazuki family. In the eyes of the rest of the family, someone who was unable to see anything was useless and an ill omen. Everyone avoided him and Shisui spent a majority of his early childhood alone in his room. Even his own parents only saw him when it was necessary. The only thing he was provided was instruments to be able to play since he couldn't read or be allowed to walk around carelessly.

Even though he wasn’t able to see anything, he considered his early childhood the happiest moments of his life. Although the rest of the family refused to speak with him, there had been a single person who had kept him company. His older brother Mikado didn’t speak much, but he had always been there to guide him and make him feel secure. When Shisui played his music in his room, Mikado would sit and listen and occasionally even play along on his Shakuhachi. Had Shisui ever wanted to go outside, a large and warm hand would grasp onto his own and lead him there. His brother had even helped him train in swordsmanship. Mikado had been a little awkward at times, but he had always been nothing but kind even when he had his own duties to attend to as he was considered important due to being expected to be the child chosen to be the one to be blessed by Lord Tsukuyomi.

This all changed when Shisui was around the age of seven. He had woken up one day with the ability to perceive light. He could see light, shapes, colors and even shadows and darkness. At first, he had thought that this was some sort of odd dream that he had somehow been able to imagine, but he soon realized that it was reality. It was sight. He was able to see for the first time in his life. Overjoyed, Shisui ran around the house in search of his brother to tell him of the news, but he was nowhere to be found. When Shisui did find his brother the next day, he noticed that something was off. His brother seemed to be avoiding him. Mikado had always been stern but never cold. It was almost like his brother had become a different person.

Shisui’s brother continued to train Shisui in swordsmanship/spearmanship, however that was as far as their interaction went. Unlike before, Mikado no longer kept Shisui company and left him alone as soon as their training finished for the day. The biggest shock came when Shisui was chosen to be the next Emissary of Tsukuyomi when the whole family had always expected that Mikado would be selected. The tension between Shisui and the rest of his family only increased at Tsukuyomi's decision. Why had Tsukuyomi decided to choose Shisui over Mikado when the latter was obviously better suited for the position? Surprisingly, the only one whose attitude didn't change at all was Mikado himself. Instead of becoming bitter about the situation, he simply continued to train Shisui and shape him to become someone fit to become the Emissary of Tsukuyomi.

This continued until Shisui was ordered by Tsukuyomi to travel outside of Esmet and to Altamira. Having no other choice but to comply with the wishes of the god, Shisui packed any necessities and left his home for the first time in his life. Just before leaving the house, Mikado sent Shisui off with a final pat to the head. It was short, but it had been the first time in seven years that he had gone near Shisui or even touched him. Before he could even ask what his brother was thinking, Mikado left a baffled Shisui who would finally start his long journey to the Temple of Solora a few minutes later.

Inventory and Preferences

  • Money: ???

Ame-no-mihashira (Naginata): This particular naginata is the only weapon that Shisui is able to use as a primary weapon. Because of the sheer cold attribute of his god gifted abilities, normal weapons would become very brittle over time due to the constant and extreme fluctuations in temperature and would be in need of constant repair. The shaft of Shisui’s naginata is crafted from the wood of a blessed cryptomeria (Japanese Cedar) and the metal parts were forged using a special process that the Mikazuki family had developed in order to counter the temperature fluctuations. This style of forging was invented by Yoshino Mikazuki who was an emissary of Tsukuyomi specializing in steel and mirrors rather than ice.

Kodachi: While most expect Shisui’s kodachi to be something akin to that of a sub-weapon should something ever happen to his naginata, this sword actually serves as more of a ceremonial sword. Shisui’s kodachi is actually part of a pair with Mikado’s uchigatana.

Tsukuyomi’s Glass Shard: Tsukuyomi gave this glass shard to Shisui when he appointed Shisui as his Emissary. As Shisui’s “Eyes of Clarity” ability is either incomplete or just simply lacks practice, Shisui is unable to use this ability properly without the aid of this piece of glass. If Tsukuyomi’s glass shard were to ever get lost or stolen, it will return to its original place in Shisui's bag after a little bit as the glass is essentially a part of Tsukuyomi's power.

Enchanted Bag: The standard and most convenient type of bag that adventurers often tote around due to it’s ability to hold much more than what it seems capable of. While the space inside isn’t unlimited as those types tend to cost an arm and a leg, it’s certainly much more efficient than your average knapsack.

Other Notable Possessions: Mikazuki family crest/emblem, Cloak, Book with pressed flowers, Flute, Various herbs

Fighting Style + Abilities + General Skills

  • While Shisui’s abilities makes him seem like a very support and defense oriented fighter, the particular style that he developed makes him a well-balanced type. He uses his ice as a minor shield as well as a tool to bind or limit enemy movements allowing for him to look for a good chance to go in and strike. In order to pull this off properly, Shisui utilizes a fighting style that involves a lot of movement, making it almost seem as if he is dancing. Weaknesses of this style would be places where you can’t move around as freely, enemies with a flame strong enough to melt his ice, and against opponents who have high elemental resistance. No style is perfect and without flaws, after all.

Relationships

  • Relationship: Older brother

    full
    full

Before Shisui gained the ability to see, Mikado and Shisui had been extremely close. Although Mikado was busy with his duties as the primary candidate of the Emissary of Tsukuyomi-no-Mikoto, he always made time for his younger sibling. While their relationship changed after Shisui gained sight, Mikado had still bothered to keep training Shisui. This had pretty much been the only times that Mikado interacted with Shisui. Due to this, Shisui was lead to wonder if Mikado had known that Shisui would be chosen as the Emissary of Tsukuyomi instead of Mikado.

Despite the change in Mikado’s attitude, Shisui currently feels that Mikado was still somehow being kind in his own way and hadn’t really changed at all. Shisui still holds his older brother in high regards and even views him as the most beautiful person in the world on both the inside and outside.

    Extras

    -Mikado’s name means “emperor”

-Mikado is generally serious and doesn't really show much outer emotion. However, certain people seem to know exactly what could set him off *coughcough*Kanna*coughcough*

    -He's a bit of a drill sergeant

About the Character

  • Full Name: Silvanus Aarden-Argyris

    Pronunciation: SIL-vahn-us AAH-reh-dehn AR-g-yee-reez

Nickname(s): Sil (by friends), Silas (by most people)

    Gender: Male

    Hair: Black with indigo hues

    Eyes: Sharp light green

    Skin: Pale

    Height: 5’ 10” (still growing)

Weight: Around 166 to 172 lbs.

Appearance: Silas has sharp light green eyes which is only more highlighted by his pale skin and dark hair. His black hair with its indigo hues seems to be forever doomed to be messy. His hair always makes him look like he just rolled out of bed while his actual bed head makes him look like he just fought through a tornado. It doesn’t help that this dork doesn’t care how his clothes look. As long as the boy is comfortable, he’ll toddle along with his tall seemingly lanky self no matter what the condition of his clothes is.

Skill and Knowledge

  • Clothing!: A good portion of his scarf collection is actually handmade. Silas’ seamstress skills include: Knitting, sewing, needle-felting, crocheting and embroidering. And Silas is still learning more! ...He doesn’t know how to make armor and he doesn’t want to make armor.

Knows food: Silas knows about a lot of food. He knows how they’re made. He knows the recipe for a lot of food. ...He just doesn’t cook well because he forgets to PAY ATTENTION TO THE STOVE. Silas makes a pretty mean salad though.

Reading the ground: Growing up in a country that was built on mines, as well as metalwork, Silas learned how to tell when the ground is stable or unstable, rich or poor even before he became the emissary of Hades.

Miscellaneous/Extra little things

Just kidding, this wouldn’t be Silas’ character theme! xD I don’t know what his character theme would be to be honest. I’ll update this section when I find a good song.

Nano likes curry. (And she’s weird. Really weird. owob) And Shisui is a clownfish.

    Name: Katerina Arellis Demetriou

    Pronunciation: Ka-ther-EEN-aa Ar-rel-is Dih-met-rEE-ou

Nicknames/Aliases: Kat (by close friends) , Arellis (by her siblings)

    Age: 16

    Gender: Female

    Date of Birth: 16 April

    Height: 5'6

    Weight: 125lbs

    Sexuality: Bisexual

Respective god: Hypnos, God of Sleep

    Family/Clan: Demetriou

Hometown: Kingsbay, Southport of the Trenthis region.

Appearance: The Demetrious have always stood out from the rest of the citizens of the Trenthis region. With their pale skin, snow-white hair and icy blue eyes, they were a contrast against the tanned-skinned, hardy sea workers, but they've been around so long, no one really questions it anymore. Just like the rest of her family, Katerina shares those distinctive features- her long white hair cascading to the base of her waist, usually wind-blown and unkempt, its pale blue hues serve as a reminder of her ancestors' weeks at sea, long ago when they sailed from Armalita to Trenthis when they were summoned by the Head of the Demetriou clan, who was the chief priest of Hypnos then. When she uses her her Hypnos-granted abilities however, her eyes turn into a crimson shade. The scar on her right cheek was the result of her standing too close to her brothers while they were sword-fighting, and also the reason why she and her sister were not allowed to wander into the courtyard while her brothers were training anymore. She dresses quite formal, much like a typical sea merchant, and for some reason she's always wearing the same lace cravat (even after her sister's relentless comments about how it's supposed to be a guy's thing).

Ummm pizza?? Everyone loves pizza right?? I'd guess a boy, but my instincts are telling me it's a mochi in human form.

Diana's Journal
[iNSERT RP START DATE] I must've forgotten my journal while I was out for a stargaze, it's been three days and there still isn't any sign of it. Thankfully it doesn't hold anything too important, but it's a pain to go and get a new one so soon. I happened to like the cover on the old one a lot, too. I guess I'll have to make do until I manage to dig it up from ... wherever I left it.

General Skills

Guiding Stars Diana hasn't travelled around all that much, and as a result, while mostly stationary, she has come to have a good memory of the night sky above her. She hasn't explored majority of the forest just yet, but should she ever find herself in need of directions, she has them handy on clear nights if she isn’t too far off from home.

Carving ... There's a lot of trees around. With her restless hands, Diana often takes to dragging her knives right into the wood, eventually when it caught the attention of the children, she gave into some of their demands. Unfortunately, when one had the audacity to claim that their gift was particularly ugly, she took to practicing the art religiously.

Gardening She doesn't plant anything like medicine, but she definitely likes her food extra fresh. Besides, there's always this additional level of satisfaction when one cooks knowing that everything, literally everything, was made from their own two hands. She also likes planting flowers from time to time. Only a few though. They make good gifts you know.

Singing It's something commonly shared between the woman in the village. Songs for the children, songs of celebration, songs of despair as well, unfortunately. Diana takes up this skill as a way to pass the silence when it truly becomes unbearable. She isn't exceptional, but she can definitely bring out something touching when needed.

Weapon of Choice

Dual Swords Nothing expensive or fancy. Something that works. For now. Diana doubts its ability to last much longer though.

Serment When the emissary of Gabija wakes from the first encounter, they will find that with the bond established, the physical proof lies within the thin belt that is found wrapped around the blessed one. [Tiny Pic Ref #1] As is done with the previous blessed ones, when the goddess believes that their blessed one has began to understand the goddesses duty relatively well, or at least come to understand their role in it all, Gabija then hands over the treasure tool - Serment. A dagger restricted by chains of magical properties, and when gifted to her chosen, is bound to the belt until Gabija's explicit approval enables the freedom and use of it. The chain cannot be undone by any other magical means, or elemental erosion, only the fire of the protection and unity from Gabija can sear the dagger free. When Gabija feels that you've seen through the task, she will bound the dagger once more, a reminder of it's endless duties for the one who swore an oath to her.

Fighting Style
Before her gifted abilities and her knowledge of some swordplay, Diana was originally a hand to hand combatant, not that she excels in it. Her family does have a particular style, however, Diana has only caught bits and pieces of it, and so her execution of it is rather choppy, unfinished, and unpolished. At the moment she frequently fights instinctively rather than with technique and poise. This of course, means that when she walks into fights, she walks in fully prepared to take a few hits. This doesn't mean that she's at the level of some street brawler with a few fancy moves, heavens no.

In her clan this was often how they did it too. When the child was young, they would begin to lay down the foundations for a healthy body. They would rarely focus on technique, and so for most of their adolescent years, they would spend most of their time molding their bodies, learning to get comfortable with every aspect of themselves, pushing the limits of those aspects - which also meant learning what would break or pull it, and how to efficiently heal it - before touching some of the more offensive teachings they have. As a result, Diana isn't entirely fragile, or incompetent. She may not have the techniques at hand, but her body is more than ready for them, and whatever decides to stand in her way. As of this moment, she has equal powering in both leg and arms, though cannot switch between the two as fluently as she would like. With her arms, she usually goes in close, and follows through with elbow strikes, or jaw punches, though while defensive, she pulls up both arms, always ready for a counterattack [Cross Arm Blocks / Peek a Boo]. Her legs aren't as fast, nor as flexible as she would prefer, but as mentioned before, when she makes contact, she makes the hit count.

The swords had been something completely new for Diana. While not ambidextrous, her frequent use of both hands for the same training exercises has given her a sufficiently more of a handle on her left hand, enabling her to effectively use both swords to their full potential - if she ever gets to mastering them. She's never had the need to cut anything down just yet though, nor does she foresee herself doing so anytime soon ... not to mention, she doesn't exactly have a teacher. Those swords are more decorative and utility-based at the moment more than you'd think. If one were to ask her at the present time, she'd likely admit to tossing the swords off her person entirely and falling back to her hand to hand combat if she were to engage in a confrontation.

Gifted Abilities

Blazing Heart Diana's body temperature is raised, and naturally is warmer than most humans without much effort on her part. When placed in colder conditions, this ability of hers naturally corresponds as well, and raises her body temperature. It'll be nigh impossible for her to get chilled, she'll certainly register the colder conditions, but never find reason to complain. A very effective personal heater. Thankfully makes her a little fire resistant as well.

A Double Life Gabija had the ability to shift to a cat, rooster, and stork, Diana only has the ability to shift to a cat.

Enfiring Symphony When armed properly, Diana may set her swords on fire. At the moment, this isn't a constant, nor is she able to keep a steady stream continuously flowing. Right now, the best she can do is allow the sword to sputter out flames in short bursts when clashing against another/something. She's only ever tried doing this with her swords, never with her arms or legs.

Treasured Faith Ability to materialize fires herself. This cannot be done without the presence of oxygen, and obviously some kind of fire mastery. Not that Diana has much of that at the moment. This skill takes not concentration, but power of belief, of both the goddess and Diana herself. The stronger the belief, in whatever it may be, the brighter and better the fire/s may burn. The fires may take shape of certain things, it may also come to existence in multiple separate forms as well. It's something that Diana will have to explore later down the road.

Promised Words Drawing fire from within, Diana has the ability to spit fire out. Unfortunately, for one who had been human for so long, such an ability isn't the most comfortable, nor is it the most pretty looking. Slightly self-conscious of the action altogether, this is one ability she tends to skip over when she can. If she were to spit out fire at the moment, she'd only hack up small sized fireballs, nothing larger than a fist.

Appearance

Diana is most recognized as a woman with long untampered silvery strands of hair. Her hair cascades down the whole of her back and then some, though while attending to her tasks she does have enough sense to pull it up. Her eyes are a striking jade like color, a trait shared with most of her family members. Her skin is a rather unremarkable tone, normal, and there is very little chance of her skin ever going pale as she enjoys napping under the sun just as much as the next person.

Pulling herself at her full height, Diana's shoulders are evidently broad. Her arms and legs are evidently toned, holding undeniable muscle underneath, put together, Diana doesn't come across as a fragile or doll-like woman, perhaps the first thought people may have is how sturdy or strong she naturally stands. She still retains her feminine curves, though they aren't exactly the most obvious. When one encounters Diana, they will find that she takes a liking to wearing sleeveless shirts, dresses even, and simple pants/tights/leggings to cover her legs.

Personality

Diana is first and foremostly someone who is independent and mature. This doesn't mean that she's anti-social or someone who is disinterested in interactions, but Diana is someone who does not fear being left on her own, and when she is, she has no problem continuing from where she left off, completing her tasks, unaffected by lack of company. Again, this doesn't mean that she doesn't enjoy having company around her. In fact, she is someone who particularly enjoys having an extra bit of noise in her life, laughter, warmth and the bubbly feeling that comes with the complicated concept we call trust. She understands, though, that in times like these, that such things are but luxuries, can one fault her for the yearning of such a simple wish though?

At present time, Diana herself doesn't exactly have much to enjoy, nor anyone to share the small precious moments with, and so she's a little more quiet than she would have usually been, however, this doesn't dampen the expressions that are beyond her control. The children in the village know this very well, often finding the woman's soft smile and silent exasperated frowns more than enough to understand. Speaking of, Diana is very fond of the children, always in awe and silently marveling at the pure innocence and potential in every single life. If Diana ever needed one reason to appreciate, or rekindle the reasoning of life, she is more than confident that one look at the ever growing children would provide every answer she needed.

As protective as she may seem, that affection is something she only holds for children. Otherwise, Diana is rather impatient with those around her, and while polite, she will make it a point to try and set you off on your own as soon as she can. She isn't blind though, and not arrogant enough to turn a blind eye on those who hold potential. To those who hold innate talent and those who climb their way up, she can respect and tolerate. However, as she comes to acknowledge those people more and more, she may get lazier, unmotivated, and generally more reluctant to perform her best.

She's questioned herself over the years about this particular problem, and the only solution she can come up with is that she sees those people, those she respects, as people who are reliable, and so she does so, a tad bit too tired of the responsibilities that she tended to for herself, on her own. That, or she's dumbing herself down to stay with them longer, the human in her yearning for more, more, and more.

Back Story

Diana had been born into a clan that was tightly-knit together. A clan that despite the ups and downs, the arguments and the hard times, had stuck together quite solidly and always patches the problems over time. It had been a whirlwind growing up in such an environment, and Diana had seriously taken the simplicity of it all for granted, overlooking the smallest of gestures back then, only to regret and wish for nothing but a glimpse into those hazy memories now.

Early on, Diana had been nothing but a bubble of joy in the family. She, for one, had mostly been unaffected by most of the things that were happening around her. Should the family be in the middle of something important, she saw it fit to waddle up and seat herself wherever she pleased. She wasn't exactly disturbing, but that level of [intentional] ignorance was more than humiliating. It didn't get any better as she entered her teenage years either. She had quite the persistent child and often went against other's wishes, not in an act of defiance, but in one of determination and belief for the 'greater good'. An innocent child, one that always managed to get herself in the middle of things better left untouched, and yet always wore a smile even when she was getting chewed out by the annoyed victim.

Of course, most of that energy was better used when she began her training seriously, but by then she had grown into a comfortable routine with the rest of the clan. She was a rather lonely child, as no one came close to her in age, and so her only company had been adults. She learned quickly what truly annoyed them, and what tickled at their humor, and found herself completely drawn to the emotion that we all come to know as 'pride' on their faces. It was her determination that pushed her quickly through an early-maturity growth - and looking back, it was a good thing she went through that as quick as she had.

While she had been young, she had understood that something was wrong. For quite some time perhaps, and so when the clan came to a decision, while devastated, Diana had complied without contesting. Scattered to the different hidden villages, the clan while remaining one under the same name, had been split throughout the different villages of Silverwood. Diana had been with her parents, still too young to make decisions on her own at the time. It had been hard for the girl to adjust, not only because of the shift from a more luxurious and spacious lifestyle, but the long hours of painful silences, and complete change from her daily routine had shaken her to the core.

She had been taught that family was the most important thing. Hell, she had lived and breathed that lesson everyday before she knew the words to that lesson. It wasn't something that she could simply adjust to, it was something fundamental to her existence, to the elements that made up her existence. With that seemingly plucked away from her, Diana had derailed and fallen into a glum period, where the mischievous child had turned into one that was angry, angry and mourning.

Perhaps sensing the girl's frustrations and yearning for the unity of her clan, Gabija found reason to turn her sights towards the young girl. Of course, it had been a bit early, too many variables laid out in the open, and thus it would take the goddess just a few more years before she would initiate the bond, to take the girl as her emissary. Even so, Gabija had been slow to introduce and inform Diana of the many workings of their world, feeding the girl slowly, in lieu of bringing her right into the fold of things.

Even so, Diana had found that alright. With the goddess's appearance, her family seemed to begin to truly understand the depth of her loss, just how affected, yet how wishful she had been to unite their grand family once more - to have managed to catch the eye of their goddess. With their understanding, the anger and misery that seemed to take hold of their daughter ebbed away bit by bit until the girl had seemed to finally look forward more than she had at the past.

Gabija

Gabija, the goddess of fire and the home in the Baltic mythology. Most of the stories of Gabija were of the goddess providing protection for the homes, though only if she were looked after properly, in whatever form she may have assumed. Those who offended the goddess, and her fires, often found themselves surrounded by the fiery remains of their home, if not their own end.

At a glance, many would find Gabija very high-maintenance. Perhaps even a goddess who overestimated her own importance. However, as demanding as she may be, Gabija is a goddess who is most intrigued by the bonds of humans. Bonds that were so completely instinctual , and so purely human, that even the tamperings of gods, no matter how powerful or heartfelt, would ruin such purity until it was twisted and unrecognizable. Unlike some of the more ambitious of her fellow gods, Gabija sought only to preserve the bonds, to simply watch from the back how the threads of the bonds would spin out. Her fires, serving as the fires that would bring one and all to gather together.

Line-break1.png

The Roze clan, long ago, had been ones who would light the brightest of fires, and as such, many of their people would gather, and as one, they would pay their respects to Gabija, for bringing their people altogether safely, by every nightfall. Of course, Gabija felt as if she had very little to play in that role, and her first emissary had told as such as well.

Those who are recognized by Gabija, wield a fire that doesn't simply burn. It is a fire that ultimately gathers and protects. Her emissaries by the years, had always been the ones who could recognize and use the gifts with flawless distinction. Even those who do not share the blessings, know in their blood that the bonds of the fire connect each one to another in the clan. Their hair, kept white and untainted, are the signs of the clan's pure fire, and unbroken oaths to the goddess throughout the years.

Their Story So Far

Gabija had set her eyes on Diana for the longest of times, noting the desperate yearning and ever present fiery determination to unite her clan within the ever growing girl. As protector of the home, while Gabija prevented harm from befalling the clan, she felt that she had failed them. Though she had provided the clan protection, perhaps that simply had not been enough.

Such was said when a younger Diana had first met the goddess. The young girl had told the goddess quite directly that the protection, the haven, and the bright, warm fires had not been enough. Not in an ungrateful manner, heavens no. Diana knew that the encounter wasn’t one of chance, nor would she be given a choice to decline whatever the goddess would ask of her. Informing the goddess of her wishes, the oath was made soon after and the bond settled in quite nicely.

As she was handed the role of the goddess’s emissary, Diana would never be allowed to misuse the fires that were gifted - as was the standard oath given to Gabija when one bonded. The fires bestowed to her were to eliminate those who gave cause to her clan’s decision to separate in the first place. Though of course, the biddings of the goddess would come first before her personal quest.

However, Gabija’s worries had been where Diana had inadvertently pleaded for the brighter, and stronger flames that the goddess wielded. The emissaries before the young girl had all understood the very fine line between the fires of destruction and the fires of unity. Yet here they were, presented with such a situation where the goddess had been inclined to agree, to give in and present the lass with such powers. Warily, the goddess had agreed, though she had made the girl add in a few more lines into the oath, to carefully outline the boundaries and the limits of such use of her power.

It had been a careful process by Gabija, who closely monitored the girl who had still been so angry, mourning and griefing. She would teach the girl about the world, the history, the story behind the art and of her flames - before introducing and bringing their attention to the fires that sat deep down in Diana's heart.

Cautioned and well aware of the goddess's doubt and worries, Diana herself had been wary of using such powers too. Only with the goddess’s approval, did Diana ever bring her powers out to deal with her tasks. Otherwise, the girl had kept these powers hidden, and at rest.

- - - - - [shorter Explaination] - - - - -

Gabija chose Diana because she yearned so desparately to unite the family once more, Gabija was the protector of the home and yet and had that she had failed the young girl, the clan that represented her. Gabija wished to fix this, by letting Diana shine and bright as any roaring fire, to lead the clan, to have the blessed power to unite the clan under her rule, where fear, mistrust, and weakness would be but a shadow of the past, cast aside with the burning power that Diana would wield to give the hope the clan needed.

While Diana was still young, Gabija had waited, and as Diana had reached maturity, Gabija finally reached out.

Diana had still been a rather angry and moody girl by then, and so when Gabija proposed the idea, Diana had point blank told the goddess that it wasn't enough. Offering protection, a safe haven, no matter how warm or how bright, had not been enough, that Gabija's effort had not fulfilled her task. It wasn't exactly a choice for Diana, but she and Gabija settled on one thing - to instead rid the clan of the threat at large.

The oath had been made there, Diana would settle into the role of her emissary, and the fires gifted, were never to be misused in any way, only for serving her in her quest to bring her clan back together and the duties of Gabija, whether it be riding the demons at large, or offering families the warmth and blessings Gabija couldn't reach [at times]. It was two of the biggest tasks wrapped together, but it was price of the power Diana was gifted, and she wouldn't have it any other way.

Of course, Gabija had been uncomfortable with the prospect of teaching the girl the fiery dances, dangerous and taxing as they were, even for herself, not to mention it had been a first in her very long life since one had burdened themselves with such goals. The goddess could only hope that the girl wouldn't end up burning herself out as she taught her slowly, feeding the girl information, and stories before ever allowing the use of fires, or even <<Serment>> the blade that Gabija would finally gift to Diana, as a constant reminder to soothe the unsettle fires of rage the girl still had about her on the worst of her days, as promised by the oath she had sworn with her.

♒ Salazar Yang Shen-Hai 楊深海♒

Huh, aren't you a funny one?
Sal

The Basics, All That Meets the Eye

  • Name: Salazar Yang Shen-Hai

    Pronunciation:Sal-uh-zar Young Sh-en Hi

Nicknames: Sal, Sally (by his sister, much to his annoyance)

    Age: 15

    Gender: Male

    Date of Birth: 22 January

    Height: 5'7 and still growing

    Weight: 150lbs

    Sexuality: Demisexual

Respective God: Yu- Qiang, God of Sea and Seabreeze (Pronounced Yoo Chee-yang)

    Family/ Clan: Yang

Hometown: Ivory Shore, Nox of the northeastern Esmet region

Personality

Sal is relatively cunning and lazy, usually preferring to manipulate other people into getting a job done rather than doing it himself. Sure, he's a smart boy, and he knows it, but that definitely doesn't mean he uses his intelligence and wit in the right fields. Well, most of the time anyway. His manner of speech is pretty frank, and he claims sarcasm and snark to be his mother tongue

He is known to have quite a superiority complex, which probably stems from his childhood when his mother often praised him to over-compensate for the Yang family's treatment towards her and her children, thus causing Sal to become rather arrogant of his skills. However, his pride doesn't come empty. He is a quick-learner, and a brilliant combatant and strategist as well. Which, of course, only makes him more full of himself.

A rather laid-back person, Sal does have a pretty good temper, and is able to keep his head during an emergency (in fact, he seems to elicit joy from seeing others in a tight situation, credits to his mildly sadistic nature). He is quite selfish, and cares little to none about what others think. Once you can past is prickly exterior however, you'll find that he can be a fairly good ally. If you manage to make it into the small circle of people he actually cares about, he'll become a loyal and trustworthy companion, and will willingly put his life on the line for you.

Biography

His mother was the mistress of his father, who was then one of the most reputable Yangs in the region. But when the news of the affair got out, he was shunned and exiled from the capital of Nox, to the small seaside town of Ivory Shore. There, he and Helena, Sal's mother, raised him and his sister Jeanette. Growing up in the practically barren terrain of Ivory Shore, Sal never had much to do. Other than a small shop, a dingy chapel, and an old port, there were no more than five families residing in the area, and none with children the same age as Sal of Jeanette. He understood his parents' relationship at a rather tender age, and often wondered why his father would ruin a perfectly good life to be with his mother (which he often rebutted with the fact that if his dad and mom never got together, he and Jeanette wouldn't exist). When food was scarce, his dad would bring him hunting in the small forests of the mountains that lay at the edge of the town, not that there were much prey in such cold weather. He did however acquire many useful trap-setting skills.

Whenever any of the Yang family visited Ivory Shore, they would always make it a point to make snide comments about his family, claiming that a tainted child like Sal or Jeanette would never, in a million years, be chosen as the next Emissary of Yu-Qiang. When this happened, his mother would always pull him and his sister aside and told them that they were brilliant children, and they should just ignore them (an advice which Sal really took to heart).

A few years later, his mother passed away from a rare illness, and that was when his resentment towards his mother started to grow. A cheap commoner, a home-wrecker, and now and irresponsible mother who abandoned her children. Deep down, he knew none of the things he called her were true, but his anger and despair clouded his judgement. He needed someone to blame for all the negative emotions he felt, and who better to blame than someone who wasn't alive anymore? His nature grew slightly twisted, giving birth to a Sal who was cunning and arrogant, who cared for no one but himself. The last part wasn't true of course, there was one person he could never bring himself to abandon - his sister.

Upon hearing of Helena's death, Sal's grandfather welcomed them back to the Yang's villa, a proof of his benevolence, he called it. His father refused to return, but thinking Sal and Jeanette might lead a more comfortable life there, he sent them packing the very next day. There, they were treated as laughing stock, something for the other kids to poke fun at. However, they were still given the same combat training and education the rest of the Yang children received. Soon, it was evident that Sal and Jeanette were rather remarkable, Sal at combat, and Jeanette in academics. Of course, this only worsened their treatment. Sal would always respond with flippant remarks, but would rebuke anyone who said a single bad word about Jeanette. Unsurprisingly, his sister did the same. By the end of the season, their living quarters were reduced to one of the servant's.

When Sal was picked as the next emissary of Yu-Qiang, he knew what he had to do. Picking up their bags, he retreated back to Ivory Shore with his sister in the dead of the night, all the while wondering what the rest of the Yang family was planning to do with them. Not that they would hurt them, goodness no. If they even laid a finger on the Emissary, they might very well bring upon the wrath of the god. However, Sal was worried they might use his sister as blackmail, and use his powers for their own greed and desires.

His father was surprised, but pleased nonetheless to have them back. There Sal continued his old life at Ivory Shore, fishing, setting up traps and hunting with his father. Other than his frequent training sessions in the God's Realm with Yu-Qiang, life hasn't seem to change much.

Getting More Personal

  • Primary Weapon of Choice: Dual Dao Swords

Sub-Weapon of choice: Spear (he usually uses this to spear fish when fishing)

Fighting Style: Sal excels in both agility and strength, however he lacks the muscle mass needed to perform his attacks for a long period of time, and often need a reasonable amount of rest time between battles. Sal enjoys baiting his enemy, and luring them to difficult spaces before finishing them in strong, precise strikes. Of course, this only works efficiently if he's familiar to the area's geography. While his offensive and attacking skills might be in top shape, his defensive skills are rather shaky. It's not hard for enemies to get in his blind spot, and when in the heat of the battle, he often loses focus on other enemies other than his targets.

Abilities & General Skills

  • Under the Sea: Sal is able to hold his breath underwater for prolonged periods of time, and his eyes can adapt as well, allowing clarity in his vision when swimming underwater. Of course, at his current level of skill, he can only do it for about half an hour or so before his lungs start screaming for oxygen.

So, no more seafood eh?: Empathy with underwater creatures can be both a blessing and a curse. The blessing? If you're polite enough, you can probably get the dolphin to retrieve the beach ball you accidentally threw too far out into the ocean. The curse? It makes fishing very, very awkward. The turtles do appear to be more friendly towards him compared to the other sea creatures though (maybe that's because turtles aren't exactly on his menu).

Water, rise : While Sal can't exactly conjure water out of thin air (though it has been said that there are other Emissaries of water gods who are able to draw water droplets from the air), he is able to draw water from deep beneath the ground, and change its properties at will (such as from salt water to fresh water). He is able to manipulate the shape and movement of water as well, willing them to do whatever he wants. However, his influence over seawater is considerably stronger compared to that of water from rivers or ponds.

He can fly! (No fairy dust required): While Yu-Qiang was able to transform into a giant bird and a whale, Sal is able to shape-shift into a decent-sized pelican. Not exactly a bird of prey but hey, it has its perks.

Commander of the Breeze: Sal is able to tell whether a storm is coming, or if demons are approaching by "tasting" the air. However, there is no guaranteed accuracy. He is also able to manipulate the wind as he wishes. But just like water, his influence over sea breeze is considerably stronger, to the point where if he concentrates hard enough, he is able to conjure a decent-sized tornado. Though this move will extinguish his energy very quickly and take him quite a while to recover.

Emissary

Yu-Qiang:

God of the Oceans and the Ocean Winds Once upon a long time ago, there were five islands for the immortals. These were not anchored to the Earth and floated freely, but they kept bumping into China. The Gods were not too happy with having their joss sticks jostled and moaned to the JADE-EMPEROR. YU-QIANG was ordered to tether the islands to a team of turtles, who could take it in turns to bear their weight. Then there was some hassle with a giant, who caught and ate most of the turtles, causing two of the islands to sink. Only one is left, but we don’t know where it is. As God of Sea Breezes, YU-QIANG has a bird body with human face and appendages, but when the God of Seawater he rides on two dragons and something fishy happens, turning him into a whale. When angry he turns back into a giant bird, although this should exclude him from tying turtles to islands because, in our opinion, the turtles would be scared witless.
Unknown

Most of the text is true, he is indeed a bird with a human face and appendages, which looks pretty terrifying, even to Sal. Since their first meeting however, Yu-Qiang has taken the liberty to adapt a human form, he didn't need an Emissary who would be scared witless every time they meet. In his human form, the God of Sea and Sea Breeze is a lanky old man, who seems way too chirpy for his age. When not training Sal, he would show Sal his turtle pond, and tell Sal about each and every one of them. So far they've gotten to Qian, turtle #234, well, only 766 more to go.

He is known to not only pick strong combatants for his Emissary, but "interesting" ones as well. He finds Sal's mildly sadistic nature to be fairly amusing, and occasionally chastises Sal for being cold and cunning to others. But he doesn't really care, he's just a bored old man who likes having someone to talk to, even if it's a moody child with attitude problems. His leniency towards malice and ill intents is one of the reasons why the Yang family's morality has greatly diverted from their ancestors teachings, slowly succumbing to greed and corruption.

He is however, very strict when it comes to Sal's training. And would hit Sal's ankles with a bamboo cane if he slacks off on his training or chores. Why a bamboo cane? Hmm, no one really knows.

Relationship

Older Sister (by two years): Jeanette Yang Feng-Fei

50bb32952a47b3f5a953facdc628ef8c.jpg

With her dark hair and soft features, she could have easily fitted into the Yang family, if not for her striking red eyes as well. Jeanette was always the feistier sibling; her brother drawled, and she snapped. Whenever her brother and father went out to hunt she would stay at home and read books with her mother, patch up their old clothes or fix up her father's old swords. She didn't have much to work with, but she worked with what she had, and everything she could get her hands on. Eventually, she became a polished blacksmith. She was always the more responsible and mature one of the two of them, and was considerably more humble compared to Sal. When their mother passed away, Jeanette tried her best to be a mother figure for Sal. It hurt her to see his heart turn cold and twisted, but there was nothing she could do to get back the cheerful and optimistic boy he was before. When they were sent to the Yang's villa, she did everything she could to protect her brother. It surprised her however, to find her brother doing the same. It was quite safe the say that the thought of becoming the next Emissary never crossed her mind.

After years of taunting and mistreatment they both faced there, she was more than ready to leave. That's why the moment her brother suggested that they escape in the dead of the night, she packed her stuff eagerly, and returned with him to Ivory Shore.

Father: Yang Ri Hui

bd1bd9d66873c7c5a9b1b100695de5a0.jpg

One of the brightest scholars and fiercest warriors, Sal's father was greatly regarded upon by the Yang clan. On a Winter night, plagued by a loveless arranged marriage and his scheming brothers, he sought comfort in the arms of a young villager on the other side of the mountain. Night after night, he visited her when everyone was asleep, and soon they fell in love with each other. When the affair was found out, he was exiled to Ivory shore, away from the luxury of the Nox capital. Once a noble, and now a commoner, he rebuilt his life on the edge of the sea with his new wife and children. Life was hard at first, but with his new family, at least he finally felt happy and at peace.

Mother: Helena Callistro (deceased)

anime-girl-anna-k-project-lolita-dress-Favim.com-3189776.jpg

A daughter of a merchant and a seamstress, she led a comfortable life as a child. When her father passed away, her mother remarried the local butcher, and moved in with him. Helena had a tough time adapting to her new life, and missed her old life and father greatly. But as time passed, she resigned to her fate, and worked as a seamstress with her mother to help make ends meet. When she met Ri Hui, she fell in love immediately, and spent countless restless nights thinking of him. However, the affair had deadly consequences. Enraged, the Yang clan sent warriors to murder her mother and step-father, before exiling her, together with Ri Hui to the far ends of Nox. She was a loving mother, just like her husband was a dedicated and hardworking father.Ten years after giving birth to her youngest child, Salazar, she succumbed to a rare illness, and passed away shortly after.

Yunhwa Seo

"Hm? This? No way!"

Character Information

From the Basics

full

Name: Seo, Yunhwa

Hangul: 서윤화

Hanja: 徐允花

Pronunciation: Suh YOON-hwa

Nicknames/Aliases: Yun (for the few people who can't say his name properly), Yun-a (by Hyejin), "Crow"

Age: 18

Gender: Male

Date of Birth: April 22nd

Height: 5'9" | 175cm

Weight: 151lbs | 68.5kg

Sexuality: Demisexual

Respective God : Yongwang/Yongsin, the dragon god of the four seas, sea breeze, rivers and rainfall

Family/Clan: Seo

Hometown: Ressport, Ellyon of the Trenthis region

Handedness: Ambidextrous

Signature/Base Color: Blue

Appearance: Although his attitude and personality is a stark contrast from his father's, many people of the Seo family have often stated that Yunhwa looks a lot like how his father did when he was young. He has the same messy black hair, dark blue eyes and unnaturally pale skin. The only differences would be that Yunhwa keeps his hair long and is almost always seen with it tied in a hastily done ponytail and that he is more of an average height compared to his father who was often described as a towering figure. When using his gifted abilities, bright blue tattoos that cover his whole left arm and a portion of the left side of his face appear and his eyes appear to turn a brighter and clearer shade of blue. As Yunhwa's powers are still relatively unstable, the blue marks will also appear when he is agitated.

While he refuses to wear the especially ornate clothing traditional to the Seo family, Yunhwa's supposedly "casual" clothing is still rather complicated and appears to be made of the same kind of material as the formal wear. Due to the tattoos that appear whenever he is agitated or using his gifted abilities, Yunhwa covers his left arm in bandages along with the cloth arm guards that he wears on both arms. While indoors or just not on the road, Yunhwa removes the more bothersome parts of his attire leaving just his black pants, a black, vest-like top piece fastened to one side with a single small button, and straw sandals. When outside and traveling, Yunhwa wears something that vaguely resembles a jeonbok that has been split into two pieces on top of his inner attire. The top piece has shoulders of different lengths and equally asymmetrical sleeves. The bottom piece is fastened to the body with a white sash before folding the top part over the sash.

Personality
As someone who feels that his status as an Emissary is more of a burden rather than an honor, Yunhwa believes that he's fighting the demons of the void solely due to the tiny sense of duty that his older sister and his respective god had managed to pound into him. To the dismay of the family, he's been a problem child since he was small due to a majority of his actions being based on a whim or his own wishes. He wasn't really doing it to purposefully agitate people, but he just simply preferred to live his life avoiding all the unnecessarily troublesome aspects of life. He didn't care if he was a prodigy or was most suited to be the emissary if he actually tried; he wanted to do nothing to do with the gods and their emissaries if it meant ruining his life of simplicity and his family bonds. With his lackadaisical and apathetic temperament, it's a wonder as to why Yongsin didn't decide to just pick someone from a branch family as his emissary.

Bio
" It guess you could call it a duty that I never intended to or even wanted to have. "

The Seo family's respective god, Yongsin, had always been regarded as a bit of a strange god. His preferences were unknown and he didn't even stick with a particular gender. Some of his emissaries were known for their great strength, others were known for their wisdom, and still others were known for their great virtue and ability to never lose sight of their way. However, one thing that the god did seem to insist on was choosing an emissary from the main family although he did occasionally choose a child from one of the branch families. This being said, the Seo family put the most expectations on the children who had been born into the main family and were especially strict with the children of the previous emissary. No matter who their god chose, they wanted their emissary to be as prepared for his/her duties as possible but of course, even the Seo family had anomalies.

Although Yunhwa was considered part of the main family, no one really expected much from him as he had been born into the Seo family as an illegitimate child to his father who was the Seo family head as well as the previous Emissary of Yongsin. All he knew about his mother was that she had been some woman from one of the branch families. He had no means of finding out more. After all, his mother had died soon after giving birth to him and his father refused to tell him any more about his mother. He didn't even get to know his father very well as he had passed away when Yunhwa was merely four years old. Despite this, Yunhwa led a rather peaceful childhood due to having been taken in by, surprisingly enough, the wife of his father. Even though he was a child who should have been a constant reminder to her of her husband's infidelity, his stepmother had been kind to him and raised him alongside her own daughter as if he were her son.

Yunhwa knew that he had a good chance of becoming the next emissary as he was still considered part of the main family. However, he refused to even try for several reasons: he believed that his stepmother wished for his older sister, Hyejin, to become the next emissary and he didn't want to repay her kindness with a betrayal, he wished for a life of simplicity, he didn't think he was suitable for the position, and most of all, he didn't get why people wanted the status as an emissary in the first place. One of the biggest mysteries to Yunhwa was the reason why people vied for the position as an emissary. Nothing good seemed to come out of it other than power and honor, both of which was something he believed that he didn't need. He felt that this was especially true when he learned that the cause of his father’s death had been the result of him sacrificing himself on the battlefield while fulfilling his “duties” as an emissary.

Despite his desire to just do whatever he wished and live a relatively normal life, his sister refused to leave Yunhwa alone. More of a person of duty rather than a person with a greed for power and honor, Hyejin doggedly urged Yunhwa to train diligently while stating that she believed that he was more suited for the position of emissary than her. After years of arguing and being brushed off, Hyejin eventually gave up on convincing Yunhwa to aspire to become the next emissary and instead instructed him to train in order to protect himself should something ever happen. Expecting nothing in particular to occur, Yunhwa complied to his sister’s demands but still kept his training to a minimum.

However, in a world that is slowly becoming tainted with corruption, such a life was impossible to live out. The ideal life of simplicity that Yunhwa had envisioned his whole life was suddenly sent crashing down when a Thanatos attacked while a few members of the Seo family were on their usual trade routes. That day it just happened to be that Hyejin and Yunhwa were on their first journey to the capital ever. Due to the shock, Yunhwa doesn’t remember too many details about the incident. All that he could recall were fuzzy details about he was about to be killed until his sister managed to ward off the demons. However, Hyejin had failed in actually finishing off the Thanatos and ended up sustaining serious injuries and later succumbing to said injuries. The one clear memory that Yunhwa has of this day are the ominous words that the Thanatos had said to him before retreating: “Do you curse your fate? It’s pointless…after all, you only have your own weakness to blame.”

It was there very words that made Yunhwa see the consequences of his stubbornness. It was all his fault. If he had just trained more diligently like his sister had instructed him to, then she wouldn't have died protecting him. He was only ten, but if he had trained hard enough, then maybe he wouldn’t have been the burden that had led to her downfall. If he had just been stronger, then he wouldn’t have lost something precious to him. If he had the capabilities to turn back time, he would have treasured their moments together properly.

Upon returning to the Seo manor, Yunhwa’s sudden determination to increase his strength shocked the Seo family. They had never expected that the lazy son would ever train and practice his spearmanship until he was half-dead each day. This actually worried Yunhwa’s adoptive mother, Aran, who eventually scolded him that it was pointless to train if he was going to wear himself out every single day. Seeing that Aran didn’t blame him for being left with neither her husband nor her daughter, Yunhwa managed to forgive himself a little although this didn’t quench his desire for vengeance.

Showing that he was indeed a prodigy, Yunhwa managed to surpass many of the other members of the Seo family. Eventually, Yunhwa was selected to be the emissary of Yongsin at the age of fourteen and began the training of his abilities under the instruction of Yongsin. It wasn’t an easy path as Yunhwa was extremely hasty, but he somehow managed to build up his strength enough—although they were rather unstable—so that he was prepared when The Prophet had called for the selected emissaries to travel to the Temple of Solora.

Personal Details
  • Money: ???

Woldo: The woldo is a Korean polearm that resembles the Chinese guandao although a bit smaller. Due to being heavier than most other long reaching pole weapons, the woldo tended to be one of the more difficult weapons to use. However, Yunhwa is able to wield this weapon with practiced ease, enabling him to turn the polearm into an agile and deadly weapon. Although Yunhwa's woldo isn't a god given gift, it's still been blessed by Yongsin to be much more durable than the average weapon.

His clothing: Believe it or not, the clothing that Yunhwa wears almost like a uniform was given to him by Yonsin. Knowing his habits and mindset all too well, the god took a particular set of clothes from the treasury of his own palace and gave them to his emissary. This particular set of clothing is extremely bothersome yet convenient. It was bothersome due to the complicated process of putting it on and taking it off, but in Yunhwa's mind, it's well worth the trouble if it saves him from having to wash it or replace it with new clothes as the cloth making up his attire never gets worn down and also purges itself of any impurities after simply being dipped into clean water.

Cloak: He doesn't really remember when, but Yunhwa picked this cloak up somewhere during his journey to the Temple of Solora. It appears to have somehow become a favorite of his although it's not really all that special, so it's a wonder why Yunhwa had decided to buy it in the first place when he considers buying new clothes a "bother."

Rice: While rice is indeed a staple diet of the Seo family, Yunhwa might take this a bit too far. Not only does a majority of his meals consist of something rice-based, but he's also frequently seen snacking on riceballs or rice cakes even when engaged in battle. He's virtually never seen without rice on hand.

Hyejin's Binyeo: Hyejin always wore the same binyeo and daenggi as they were gifted to her by their father before he passed away. While the hair ribbon had come undone and was lost during the demon invasion, Hyejin had held onto her hairpin before eventually giving it to Yunhwa and he's kept it with him at all times since.

Combat
  • At the moment, Yunhwa’s fighting style depends heavily on his physical abilities. Due to the weapon he chose as well as the way he incorporates his gifted abilities into combat, Yunhwa sacrifices a little bit of his speed for a little more power. As his woldo provides the reach needed, Yunhwa is able to enforce his strikes with water to make him into a mid-ranged fighter.

While she grew up with the knowledge that Yunhwa was not her full-blooded brother, Hyejin adopted the same attitude as her mother towards her little brother: even though his existence was considered a disturbance in the family, this didn’t mean that the child himself was a bad person. Despite her efforts to make Yunhwa feel comfortable around her, Hyejin realized that he always seemed to distance himself almost as if he felt that being around her would only cause her unhappiness. They seemed to get a little closer after Hyejin quit insisting that he become the emissary, but it wasn’t until the time of her death that they felt that they truly understood each other. It was Hyejin’s death that ultimately drove Yunhwa to train harder to protect the little things that he still had.

    Extras:

-Hyejin's name comes from "Hye" (慧) meaning "wisdom" and "Jin" (珍) meaning "precious"

-Something that Hyejin shared in common with Yunhwa is their love of food

-Hyejin was oddly skilled at defending herself with an

Etymology
Yunhwa's surname, Seo, comes from the hanja 徐 meaning "dignified." His first name comes from "Yun" (允) meaning "fair" or "just" and "Hwa" (花) meaning "flower."

Trivia/Notes

  • Really sorry if I got the hanja wrong! I can't do hanja or Chinese. Q _ Q
  • Yunhwa is heavily dependent on his physical skills as he had very little time to work on his gifted abilities in comparison to many of the other emissaries
  • Hyejin and her mother have mentioned many times that Yunhwa is so pale that he almost appears dead when he’s asleep
  • After noting that the Japanese skewer dango, Yunhwa started doing the same to his ggul tteok as he felt it was easier to eat them that way
  • While his nickname is “crow,” his powers have nothing to do with crows or death
  • Yunhwa received this nickname when he was 15 due to his potential as well as his dark appearance
  • In Korea, the three-legged crow is considered a symbol of power. However, normal crows are still considered bad luck, so Yunhwa’s nickname takes on a bit of a double meaning
  • Yunhwa is tone deaf (just because he can dance doesn’t mean he can sing)
  • His fear of snakes is actually quite ironic as eastern dragons are typically serpentine

Introduction
Name Elikapeka Leialoha

Pronounciation eh-lee-kah-PEH-kah LAY-ah-loh-hah

Etymology Elikapeka means "Promise of God" and Leialoha means "Darling Child" in Hawaiian.

Nicknames Eli

Age 17

Gender Female

DOB April 7

Weight 49 kg | 108 lbs

Height 167 cm | 5'5''

Sexuality She does not think of such things

Respective god Haumea, goddess of fertility and childbirth

Family Leialoha

Hometown Pôhak Village, Ahi of the Silverwood region

Appearance In her natural form, Eli takes the appearance of a tall and slim teenage girl with her blond hair (that looks a bit dirty blond) tied up high and gold eyes. Her bangs coming down right above her eyes, and her hair, while untied, seems more a pure blond. Although she can take more than one form, there are two forms, boy and girl, she likes to take the most. A motherly-looking woman with light green hair and a blond haired boy.
Backstory + Personality
  • For years, Eli was the only child of her family, the only family to have one child. For a village that always had at least two kids popped out before three years was over, the ten years as an only child was an awkward time for her and the village. It was a lonely existence. Her parents had duties they had to fulfill (like hunting rogue demons) after they knew that she could take care of herself, so they weren't around much. However, they requested that the other families took turns watching after her. That, at least, made it more fun.

The village loved her although she was an only child. They couldn't find it in their hearts to ignore her. Not when all of their children flocked around her. Whenever Eli was around, everyone had a great time. It was as if happy atmosphere surrounded her, pulling the kids in. Even the babies loved her! Yet, the adults could occasionally see the lingering loneliness in her countenance.

It came as no surprise, they supposed, when Eli was chosen to be the next Emissary of Haumea when she was eleven. Instead of being happy, this seemed to make her more lonely, though most did not take notice. Her selection was only known within their village, so no neighboring village knew. They celebrated her selection along with the birth of her siblings. Eli was now the eldest sibling of three children, the older sister of two identical twins: Kaimana and Kainalu.

Although reluctantly, the warriors of the village (including her parents) came forth to train the girl they came to know as something akin to a daughter who wasn't their daughter. Haumea taught her how to use her abilities and became something close to a mother figure she never had. With these abilities, she helped her little siblings so that they wouldn't be lonely as she had been. She used these abilities to help those in the village. If there was one negative aspect that stood out from being taught by Haumea, it was that Haumea loved to deceive and trick people with her shifting for fun. Deceiving was something Eli had learned to do, but not something she quite enjoyed like her mentor.

If there was one positive aspect that stood out from having these powers, it was that she could use them to help the village and her siblings. The twins were the inspiration behind her two favorite forms because those were the forms her little siblings grew fond of. The mature looking woman, who was named Mia, looked after her little sister and was the mother figure in place of the mother who was never there. The boy, who they called Haku, was responsible for looking over and playing with Kainalu in place of his absent father.

No one except a few knew what her powers were like, but everyone seemed to know that Mia and Haku were an extension of Eli. How they knew, Eli didn't know. When Haumea ordered her to leave the village, many of the children were teary eyed. There was a big feast the night before her departure. She left knowing that she may or may not go through this alone. Eli couldn't help but resent Haumea a little for ordering her to leave her little siblings.
Inventory + Preferences
  • Money ???

Ma'a (Leather Sling/Whip) This particular weapon is interchangeable between a sling and a whip. While its original purpose is to be a sling for throwing rocks, it can also be used as a whip. The warriors of the village has helped Eli master both uses. This particular ma'a was made from the lava of Haumea's daugther, Pele. Because of this, it is much more durable than normal ma'a and has a resistance to fire.

Shark Tooth Knife Although Eli was not trained to use this particular weapon very well, it was a parting gift from her village. She will continue to train with this weapon, but will likely never reach mastery without a proper teacher.

Enchanted Pouch This was presented to Eli by the village as the next Emissary of Haumea. They didn't know what it was, but they handed it down to her. This pouch contains an infinite amount of lava connected to the realm where Pele resides so that she can create stones.

Enchanted Clothing These items were presented to Eli by Haumea when the goddess first taught Eli how to morph her features. The clothing can be morphed as an extended part of herself... But of course, she cannot feel what her clothes feel.

Other Notable Possessions Cream scarf, her pet Moana (the blue flying creature in the picture), the village's fingerless gloves, belt (to hold whip)

Fighting Style + Abilities + General Skills
  • In Eli's fighting, it could be said that there are two distinct styles meshed into one. The first is her village's fighting style with the uses of knives and ma'a, connecting each move so that it flows. The other style is one she learned from the warriors specifically, tailored for her ability to morph her body into weapons. This style is head-strong and unpredictable in that she can constantly change weapons. Her acrobatic abilities also contributes to her unpredictability. These two styles are opposite of each other and don't seem to mesh very well, but they share their destructive qualities. When put together, it's like a weird and unpredictable dance of morphing. The downside to this is that is she's using this particular fighting style, it's most effect when she has her whip and/or knife equipped in one or both hands while using her morphing abilities at the same time, which can be a hindrance. This style does not have any noticeable defense other than her knife and her own body, which can be damaged even after being morphed.

Kaimana is the elder twin to Kainalu, who was born five minutes after she was. These two are very precious to Elikapeka and are probably the only ones she really let inside of her heart thus far. They were taken care of by the village and Elikapeka. They were also the only two to know the extent of her Warped Mirror ability because they saw her transform all the time. These two did not find out that she was an Emissary of Haumea until she was about to leave, and even then, they did not fully understand. All that they knew was that their sister was leaving. They were heartbroken.

Eli does not know what they will think of her in the future, but she hopes that these two, who she holds dear in her heart, will not hate her for leaving them so early on in their life.

    EXTRAS

~ Kaimana means "power of the ocean"

~ Kainalu means "wavy or billowy sea"

~ Although Kaimana is the eldest, it's usually Kainalu who talks sense into Kaimana

~ Since it can often confuse the kids to say their full names, people call them Mana and Nalu, calling for Kai if they are both wanted.
