Lile was born in Carmel, California to Harold and Mary O’Rourke who were vacationing at the time. Mary never wanted the child in the first place and she was soon given to a nanny back in New York City, who looked after Lile and took care of her. Lile never got along with her sisters, who were into fashion and make-up as well as boys were as Lile would rather ride her favourite horse in Long Island. When Lile turned ten, her grandfather told her that she would become his heiress as he didn’t trust any other family member apart from his wife and when she turned twenty-one, she would fully take control of the O’Rourke empire as he called it.
When she was fourteen years old, she saw Ryan Lewis for the first time at the family annual Christmas party at the Long Island home when he was staring at the family portrait. She fell immediately in love with him and spotted her mother leading him into a bedroom which was her first immediate sign that an affair was going on. She was the one who told her father that her mother was having an affair but she didn’t mention names to anyone.
The day after her sixteenth birthday, she walked into Ryan’s office one day and simply kissed him. It was something she had always wanted to do and his reaction afterwards surprised her. Yes, he yelled and told her to go away but she proud to admit that he hadn’t resisted.
Lile attends an all-girl college preparatory Catholic school, called Marymount School on Fifth Avenue.
