The Bloodtide Queendom

Shark Whisperer
Among the mersharks power is everything generally the stronger and larger mersharks dominate those weaker then themselves. Most mersharks pledge their allegiance to the Bloodtide family who have been ruling over them for generations. However rule over the this kingdom/queendom is constantly changing hands between it's king and queen. For many years it's was ruled by King Xalier, but as female mersharks tend to grow larger then males his mate Sheana eventually overpowered him and took control of the kingdom. Even choosing an heir can turn in to a violent event should a ruling couple have more then one child. Generally the right of succession is given to the strongest of their children but should siblings choose to fight over the right it is generally a fight to the death. Despite their violent nature the Bloodtide family have managed to keep the various shark clans and tribe in check and out of war with other kingdoms/queendoms.

All events taking place in the Bloodtide Queendom should be posted here.

Kaimi found herself in a very delicate situation with that question.

She really only saw the options to answer it.

She could lie, but Killian was too smart for that and would likely see right through it.

This would only serve to raise his suspicion of her.

And She felt she was already in too deep as it was.

She could swim for it, but his powerful fins might catch up to her.

If she chose that rout there would also be nowhere for her to run to.

It wasn't like the carnival was gonna welcome her back with open fins after killing one of their own and abandoning them.

Her body began to tense, as more and more of her barbs began to raise.

She felt that every option had a strong chance of death attatched to it.

Under normal sercomstances she would have barbbed the guard and swam off.

But This time..

Why did he have to be so nice to me?

Why did he cover for me when he knew I was up to something.?

These questions swam through Kaimi's mind as she assumed a defensive posture like getting ready for a fight.

Unable to look him in the eyes, she lowered

her gaze and in a cold voice she finally spoke. "..Extortion.. when she was trying to run away from her wedding , I intended to spirit her away from the queendom. But not before she paid me a queens ransom in treasure. Then maybe I could become something more then a clown. A freak to be pointed and stared at.."

She sneered, as her tone began to sound more disconnected.

As if she was talking more to herself then Killian."I don't expect you to understand my motives.. And I don't expect this to end peacfully. But at least You know the truth now.. I owed you that much."

Killian lifted a brow seeing Kaimi growing more tense. The captain of the guards had proven surprisingly laid back, and no doubt found it odd to see anyone becoming so defensive outside of battle. When Kaimi finally came clean, admitting her plan Killian couldn't help but laugh. His deep voice bombed through the area, as if he'd just heard a dirty joke from a fellow guard.

"Is that all?" He chuckled, showing no signs of wanting to arrest Kaimi for her plans. Then again perhaps it wasn't so surprising. Afterall he'd already allowed her to get away with murder. "I think you should invest in a strategist though. The queen is the one with her thumb on the gold, not the princess. Though I'm sure a few pieces of her regalia would have a mer set for life you'd have a hard time selling them without someone recognizing them. And a swimaway princess usually tries not to be recognized." Even if Kaimi had successfully found the princess in time it was unlikely Shiara had taken anything of value with her when she'd left.

"Besides, what's wrong with performing? While others have the stresses of running or protecting kingdoms, you get to create art. Trust me there are all ready enough mer in this world who command masses with the rank and power of the station they hold... But very few who can sway the hearts of the masses through the emotions their art inspires."

Maybe it wasn't his most inspirational speech, Killian was far better at rallying troops for battle. But it seemed to be the best this thick skinned guard could come up with.

Kaimi sneered back at Killian and chastised "Its not funny you blow hole!"

her guard and aggression still up she went on "you think I don't know how rediculus my plan is? Even I can see it falling apart like a pile of silt .

I saw an opportunity and I paniced.."

Her voice took a spiteful turn as she  crossed her arms and explained "and as far as the hearts of these mer folk are consered, did you ever wonder why a carnival never stays in one kingdom for too long? Its because nobody wants us around.

We are distrusted at best, on worse days ran out of town with spear and tooth.

If that's their 'heart', I'd rather just have their treasure"

She tride to calm down but, began to shake as the adrenalin corsed through her vains.

She clinched her teeth to try and hold her tongue but hissed right through them "I'm not a good girl Killian, you know that damn well.

And I am not some helpless little shrimp.

I have killed a mer before Marlin, and will do it again if I have to.

so you answer me this then.

Why the Hell haven't you ran me out, or ran me through?"

Killian once again seemed to simply float there waiting for Kaimi's tangent to end again. A few bubbles escaped his lips as he gave a heavy sigh. As if he'd suddenly given up some kind of argument his usual smile faded. It seemed he was growing frustrated with their conversation, but still managed to keep a level head about things.

"There are other places to perform besides a carnival if you don't want that persona." Killian pointed out. "And I promise, I have far more blood on my hands then you ever will. So does that make me a bad person too?"

It took Killian a moment to consider Kaimi's last question. Strangely enough his playful smile returned when he finally had an answer. "I hate to see potential wasted..."

Kaimi paused to consider what he had said.

Her barbs slowly floating down, her posture beginning to relax.

Her arms crossing still defiantly as she remarked with a pout "your impossible".

It was almost as if she wanted him to overreact.

Like she wanted him to hate her and snap.

It was like she got off on the drama of the situation.

Perhaps it was the performer in her longing for a 'scene', or Perhaps she was just that kind of mermaid.

giving a shrug she grumbled "fine. You win.. Things are kind of a mess around here, so I'll make you a deal: I'll behave if you let me come along and sort it out."

looking over her shoulder paranoidly she explained "I need some one to watch my dorsal, and you.."

eyeing him up and down she gave a koy smile adding "you could use the help of a specialist"

Out by the Borders of the Queendom, the same two lion fish from Scale's nation showed up, separated from each other. They both swam cautiously, with the messages tied to them, and headed toward the nearest guard they could find. Though it is to be noted that the two lion fish swam to different guards so both messages were not with the same guard.

Killian's grin widened seeing Kaimi finally calm down. It seemed the best possible reaction he could get from her at the moment, so he took it as a good sign. His grin faded however, looking almost a bit concerned about Kaimi's last remark. "What do you mean by 'specialist'?" He asked with a raised brow.

Meanwhile at the edges of the queendom two guards carefully removed the message from the deadly fish. The messages were quickly delivered to Queen Sheana. Shiara floated at her mother's side, looking more annoyed by the second. She was anxious to be done with these court proceedings so she could sneak away to see Kallik. Despite Pavati's warning, Shiara only precautions was to be sure she wasn't followed. Fortunately her ability to sense other life forms would make that easy.

When the letters were given to Sheana, the first letter revealed there was nothing was on it, acting like a decoy if any mer tried to take the real message. The second letter was real though.

'Dear Sheana,

I am sorry I wasn't able to come myself, but I have not been allowed to leave my Princedom since the healer is keeping me cause of a cut I got during an invasion. I will say though that I'll be showing up soon, hopefully tomorrow if the healer will allow me, to go over some things with you if you don't mind. I also want to tell you that the plague around my nation is mostly gone, with some small area's at the eastern boarder still slightly infected. A friend of mine had made a cure, and the mer of my nation have gotten better. Hope to see you soon Sheana.

 Sincerely, Scale'
