Name: Lydia Cousland

Age: Twenty One

Gender: Female

Species: Human

Class: Rogue

Personality:

If there is one word to describe Lydia, it would be compassionate. She just cares a lot. About everything and everyone. She's almost like a mother figure to those around her. Still, there are often times when she is the one that needs comforting and protecting and in those moments she is childlike and sincere. A little vulnerable too, though she doesn't like to admit it.

Lydia is incredibly empathic and picks up on a person's emotions quite easily and accurately. As a result she's a hard person to successfully lie to, and one that you'd want to go to if you needed someone to just listen. She's always eager to help if she can and lives by the phrase "If there's a good deed one can do for someone else, they have a moral obligation to do it."All she wants to do is help. It makes her happy to do good by others even if it's just something silly like being there to listen. She feels that there are times when a good chat is just as important as fixing a broken bone. Still, for now it's the Blight that holds her attention. Now that she and Alistair are the only two Grey Wardens left, she will do everything possible in her power to make sure it comes to an end. If they can gain armies from all the regions of Ferelden, they'll have a chance to do slay the Archedemon.

Lydia has little patience for unpleasant people. She believes that a bad attitude can taint those of the people subjected to it and now that everyone's fighting for their lives, she's not about to put up with it. While she likes to keep peace between her companions, she's not afraid to point out if someone is in the wrong and she will speak her mind freely. As you can probably tell, she's got quite a hot head, despite the fact that she's usually so sweet-natured. If something ticks her off you will see a very different side to her. She's not afraid to say what's on her mind and has a rather sharp tongue once she's all riled up...and a longbow for when her words don't work.

Lydia's patience can be thin at times but she is also stubborn and passionate. She will not give up on something she has started if she knows that it is possible for her to finish it. Giving up has never been something that Lydia is willing to do. She doesn't like to fail others, or herself and her determination is often contagious. She's not perfectionist but she will always give her best when she can. She likes to please people, but only if there someone she cares about. She will not give her efforts for someone that she does not like or has done her wrong.

There's a more playful and flirtatious side to Lydia, too While it's important to be serious when the situation matters, she also thinks that it's good to goof off and mess around too. It's important to her that she's enjoying her life and having fun even through all the darkness and bad times. Otherwise, what's the point? You've got to make the most the little time you have. She likes to make the best of every situatuion put in front of her, despite the fact that it sometimes gets her into a little bit of trouble. After all, having fun doesn't always allow one to follow rules.

Lydia's pretty confident both with her skills in battle, but also in herself. She's comfortable in her skin and knows exactly who she is as a person. She doesn't often let other people make her doubt herself and she will put conviction behind her decisions. This is who she is and she's not about to apologize for it or change it for anyone.

Other:

Lydia uses the Cousland Family longbow as her weapon of choice. She's also got a dagger that she keeps strapped to her waist, but it doesn't get much use as her position on the battlefield is usually ranged. While she's not very good with a sword, she does ok. She's hoping that Alistair will teach her a little more if they get a chance.

Lydia likes to read. A lot. She spent most of her free time in the library in her home before it was taken over by Arl Howe. She'd read everything from romance fiction to textbooks about Ferelden history. She just liked taking in all that information. Learning about new places and new things excites her.

Lydia is deathly afraid of spiders. It's such a silly thing considering she's battle darkspawn every other day, but she really just cannot stand them. It's the one thing she hates most about camping all of the time. They seem to get everywhere! She tends to make Alistair check her tent each night before she goes to sleep because Morrigan will only tease her about it.

Lydia has developed a little bit of a crush on Alistair since they met in Ostagar. She liked him right away. He was charming and funny and ruggedly handsome; nothing like all those suitors her mother would send her way who didn't know the hilt of a sword from the point end. She admires his passion and his loyalty to his duty and she really looks up to him.

Lydia has a Mabari hound called Hunter. Mabari are war-dogs and, as the name suggest, battle alongside their masters in war. They're a very intelligent animal and can understand everything that is said to them.
