BLACKJACK!
The Black Tide

Something Wicked This Way Comes

Travene is home to no man. It is cold, brutal, and unforgiving to all. Remaining hidden on the snowy side of the Essan Mountains, many traitors to the king and outcasts flee to Travene in hopes of escaping justice and finding a paradise for men who have turned their back on their banners. Travene is one of few countries who have no governing system, with the exception of the drow whom reside underground in what is known as the Underdark.

The Underdark consists of only drow that bare no love for surface-walkers, and even dislike kin whom have left the Underdark. While their attitude towards other cultures is negative, they don't often make attempts to raid villages or interact with anyone above ground or south of the mountains. The only known confrontation is the invasion of the elven city that occupied the core of the mountains that separated Travene from Judivas. After their surprise assault, they took everything of value from the city and abandoned it.

The Essan Mountains are tall and intimidating, and the elven city Sheltleth is mostly unoccupied since the drow invasion two centuries ago. It now serves as a border line between two countries. Sheltleth resides somewhere within the hollow mountains, and is believed to be filled with souls stuck within limbo. Men who have been branded as outcasts often seek out and find this ghost city, in hopes of finding an easy passage through the mountain. In recent events, the king's men have started to mine the dead city after a precious and rare material was discovered there. The excavating had lead them closer and closer to the Underdark, and it is believed that the king will eventually uproot the dark elves from their precious underground city.

Stiff Lake lies before the mountains, and it's given it's name because the elves who would flee from Sheltleth froze in the lake when attempting to swim across during the cold season. It's said that bodies remain frozen stiff at the bottom, but that doesn't stop the locals from collecting fish. Surrounding the lake and decorating the feet of the mountains is the Howl Forest, home to wild elves that refuse to go south and live in the human society. There are many tales behind it's name, but the most common explanation for the Howling forest is that the wild elves "howl" and the trees carry said howl from one clan to the next. Although the forest is home to many strange things, so what could be howling in the trees could be anything.

When the Howl Forest thins out, The Great Plains are revealed. Mostly farms reside within the hills and golden fields. Near the center of the country is where the Rakys Outpost resides. It grew into a settlement over the years due to the fact that it's where almost all crossroads meet. Many merchants and freelancers make a living here bartering and trading, but it's widely known for the ale sold at the Goat & Girdle, a tavern that's lively all night and day. Many sell-swords gather here, as well as several whores with their clients. Once a week, the merchants of the town will gather at a table and play a game of chance with one another.

Latios is the capital of Judivas, and it's known for it's beautiful overlook of Aois Bay. The buildings are white with golden rooftops, and emeralds are scattered over the waters on a bright sunny day. Many foreigners come and sell their goods at the green bay, and that's where majority of Judivas receives their food and silk. Latios is also home to beautiful women and wine of several varieties. Unshakable knights are often birthed here and many inspirational and historical figures make their start here.

Conflict

A nasty rumor rises that keep the people of Judivas awake at night. Drow are planning an assault to overtake the men who choose to threaten the Underdark. If they carry out an assault on any of the settlements south of the Essan Mountains, an all out war will be declared. Troubling times befall upon the king and his people.

Rules

o1. There will be no overpowered characters. Everyone, no matter what race or pact made with other-worldly forces, will be rational and reasonable with their creations.

o2. Quality is more important than quantity. No one will expect you to write a novel-sized post, but everyone expects you to write like an adult.

o3. There are limitations as to what race you can be. You can be any humanoid creature that isn't of monstrous sorts. Acceptable races are humans, dwarves, elves, eldarin, drows, fae, tieflings, gnomes, goliaths and halflings. Hybrids are acceptable in rare cases. Unacceptable races are dragons, Draconic creatures, orcs, trolls, ogres, giants, goblins, kobolds, gnolls, ghosts, grimlock, celestial, and finally demon. More will be added to either lists if need be.

o4. This will be played out similarly to the themes created in Dungeons and Dragons, only no one is expected to roll a d20. However, understand that there is a big possibility that your character may be hurt in several ways upon a series of unfortunate events. Death is also a possibility, but as the Game Master I will avoid killing your characters at all costs.

o5. Gore will definitely be a high possibility in this role play.

o6. Any sexual intimacy between two characters will be held between the two players in private messages, not in the role play.

o7. No Mary-Sue/Gary-Stu creations.

o8. Any personal disagreement between two characters PLAYERS must be sorted out privately.

o9. Feel free to ask me questions, I'd be happy to assist you with anything.

Name: Ogdhen

Age: 304

Race: Hill Dwarf

Gender: Male

Class: Barbarian (Berserker)

Occupation: Mercenary

Birthplace: Ogdhen was birthed among the rolling hills of The Great Plains to a tribe of his people that left behind the mountains to establish another home, free from law and the ability to live life however one wants. The best suited word for them would be barbaric, as they dress in the skins of their prey and live off the land, avoiding contact with civilization for the most part. Their craftsmanship with metals and stone was not lost to them, and so they remained prized smiths and masons if one could seek them out and earn their trust. They are family-oriented, everything one does is for the tribe, be it hunting, smithing, farming, or being trained as a warrior. And thus, instilled in this particular tribe was a deep sense of honor and loyalty that cannot be shaken except by grave betrayal or foul magic. Once the bonds of friendship are forged, one will have themselves a comrade for life in a Dwarf from this tribe.

Alignment: Chaotic Good

Armor: Light armor, leathered hides + pelts

Weaponry: Twin steel waraxes, hafted with sturdy wood and wrapped in the soft pelt of some fallen animal, which Ogdhen wields in both hands with a brutal efficiency. Leather sling + pouch of stone marbles.

Name: Ajinea Dimas

Age: 22

Race: Human

Gender: Female

Class: Bard

Occupation: Map-maker

Birthplace: Ajinea was born in the outskirts of Latios to merchant parents who had stopped there to sell their wares. Due to the birth of their child, her parents made a home in the large city. Ajinea grew up hearing stories of the places that they had visited and seeing the exotic wares that they had kept and became entranced with the idea of traveling. She especially loved the star charts, maps, and compasses and made a hobby of copying them. Soon she became so proficient that her father began to sell her maps from the store he had come to own in the city. Her most prized possession that had been passed down to her is an elven harp her father had acquired for her from a business partner. When she wasn't making maps she could be found strumming the harp and singing to entertain the patrons of her family's shop. Being exposed to many people and items from other places she picked up some basics of their languages, lore, music, and song; enough to get by. There was always that desire to see other places in her, and it would drive her to leave home one day to try and discover uncharted places that she would map herself.

Alignment: Neutral Good

Familiar: A red hawk named Kipp.

Armor: Light armor

Weaponry: Harp, bo staff, tool knife

It's accepted. I'm curious, though. He's 304 years old? How old would you say he looks?

I'd place him to look roughly like a Human in their 50s, with slightly greying hair and many wrinkles.

Very good! Accepted. By the way, is Crothin is a foreign country, or some place within Judivas? I'm okay with it being the latter, I just want to know for future reference.

I'll associate Crothin as a small country neighboring Judivas. Everyone loves an exotic foreigner. ;D

This has taken too long to get going anywhere, and lately my mind has been tapped with the RPs that I'm already in. I'm afraid I have to rescind my offer to join. I like the idea and hope it turns out well for you.
