Fandom The 50th Hunger Games, the Quarter Quell

Keira Winston

Golden State of Mind

May the Odds Be Ever in Your Favor

The Hunger Games is a tradition created by the capital to show that the Districts could not rebel against the capital. Every year, one male and female are reaped from each of the 12 districts. They are challenged to fight to the death in an arena. Many of you guys know that every 25 years mark the Quarter Quell. Each Quarter Quell has a deadly twist. The 50th Hunger Games mark the second Quarter Quell. In the 50th Quarter Quell, instead of having 2 tributes reaped from each district, 4 tributes would be reaped. Two male and female tributes from each district will compete. Now, the game is completely more lethal.

It was 8:30 in the training center. The other tributes would soon arrive. Shelves full of knives, arrows, daggers, and other lethal weapons stood shining. It was the 50th Hunger Games. Also known as the 2 Quarter Quell. The Quells made winning seem impossible. This year, 4 tributes would be reaped from each district. Four tributes from each district meant double the threat. It also meant double the careers. Two career girls stood in the training center. They were early. These two career girls had been training their whole lives. They were ready to get their hands onto those sharp, iron blades. They were blood-thirsty. They wanted to win. Terra Blaze, the girl from D2, and Radiance Quartz, the girl from D1, stood awaiting the other tributes. They had a deadly look in their eyes. They were fierce and would do anything to win the game.

Bonnie wasn't really a sweet Girl all the time. When It Cane to Survival. It was her Middle Name. Bonnie walked in the training center and she saw a lot of Weapons. She can use mostly all over then but her Favorite was the Crossbow. She walked in with a Good feeling of Training

Terra turned to see a girl walk into the training center. She'd seen her in the reaping video. She was Bonnie Hewitt from 8. Textiles....... Most of the outlying districts had no chance of survival to the careers. The fact that they were from a weak, poor district made them a bigger target to the careers. Radiance was also watching. Terra and Radiance gave each other a look. They continued to watch other tributes fill into the arena. @PaigeAmbrose @Gilmoregirl12

The twins slowly walked into the training center. They smirked as they looked around they had deadly looks in there eye's. They could not wait to get started. They were very well toned and very good with ther blades.

Alexandria finally walked in. She was quite and ever watching. She was the underdog all these people had more experience then her. She had more experience in the woods then them. She would survive at any cost. She watched as she looked over the twins then her eye's followed over the others. Alexandria was a quite girl, but even the quite ones cane be dangerous.

The two twins glared at the twins from five. They were the threats. The twins from district five had potential to win. The careers weren't the only ones with the skill. "Look at them," Radiance simply said. "I know, their either our allies or our enemies. Either way, we'll eventually kill them," Terra said. They both gaze the twins the death stare.

The twins locked eye's with the other twins and grinned an evil grin. They watched the twins and smirked. "There death will be so delicious. I can not wait."they said. They had eye's like sharks and they were almost as deadly if not worse."show them who we are and the we mean business." The twins say and stood next to each other.

The career gurls had caught the smirks. Radiance let out a huff and flipped her hair. Terra just stood. She was glaring at Luke. He was the biggest threat. He actually volunteered. Almost no one in the out-lying districts volunteered. She could admit that she wouldn't mind allying with the twins. They would help gain sponsors. A bad girl and a bad boy? The capital would go wild. The twins also had the skills. Terra knew that Radiance wouldn't mind either. Atlanta, the training director explained how the system would work. Everyone has heard it before. Radiance's fist clenched and un-clenched. She couldn't wait to get a bow into her hands. Terra had saw. This was why she needed Radiance as her ally. Plus, she was also a career. The tributes were soon sent to train. Radiance and Terra went straight to the archery and throwing knives section. They wouldn't hide their skill, they would instead imitate the others. @Gilmoregirl12

Alexandria went for the bow and arrows. She started training. She did not hide that her aim was true and she was very good at what she did.Alexandria practiced and showed iff her skill. As the training session started.

The twins went for there weapons if choice and started there training as well. They moved quick and deadly. Together they were very intimidating. They always had the others back and would not let them down. He had seen the girls watching them and smirked. They thought they could intimidate the other's, but in the male twins it would not work.

The careers imitated most tributes. They couldn't find a way to imitate the twins from 5. Radiance stood cross armed with her chest up. Her stare was ice cold. Terra and Radiance exchanged a look. they knew the female tribute from district 11 also could've been a threat. They'll take care of her later. Right now, the twins were a bigger threat. The career girls did not need the twins as enemies. Having them as allies would be ok. The two career girls made eye contact with the two boys. The careers both had smirks spread on their faces.

Tristan, sitting at the oft-unused area for strategy, makes himself known through the soft 'clack' of chess pieces hitting their respective board. He sits silently across from the trainer, both their faces blank due to a mix of concentration and an unwillingness to show the other any hint regarding their next move. It is a thrilling exchange, for any who enjoy viewing such a thing. A battle of minds and wills, each move planned out seven, ten, even more moves ahead. Yet, despite his exceedingly early arrival, this game has gone on for hours. Yet... "Checkmate." The trainer says, a hint of pride in his voice. "You did well. However..." The trainer begins correcting Tristan's mistakes throughout the game, with Tristan nodding and taking it into consideration.

After this, Tristan rises, looking over the competition. Twins from district 5, exceedingly talented with heir chosen weapons. They would make good allies... if not for their personalities. A girl from district 11. Determined, calm, and confident, not to mention great with a bow. A potential ally... but he'd have to see more of her before making a decision. The other careers are immediately discounted. They're arrogant, with a demeanor one is not inclined to trust. Finally, the girl from district 8. Given the way she eyes the weapons, she is comfortable with all of them, but specializes in using the crossbow. A potential ally, but like the girl from 11, he'd need to see more of her before making a decision.

Now, with his mind sharpened, he moves to the area for close quarters combat, training his body and improving his form. Every so often, he sneaks a look at the other tributes, identifying potential weaknesses. 'I have to win this, I have to survive. For my family's sake.' He lashes out with a kick, his heel rupturing the sand bag. '...For bro.'

Hidden above, looking down at her enemies, Sirena watched all the little feuds going on, the smiling on her face brightening up. She knew what her dad used to tell her about how she needed train away from the real career training, and work on a solo base. Just one step closer and you'll be mine. She thought watching all the twins in spiteful anger because she had always been an only child. Sirena slowly crawled on the wall using her sharp nail-like-knives to soften her way down. Approaching the twins she flung her knife that she had in her hand-crease and watched it as it hit the wall. Not bothering to look around, she picked up her spear, cautiously watching the other careers waiting for the time to throw her spear....

Tristan spots the gleam of a knife hurtling towards the twins, but pays this no mind. The thrower knows better than to kill tributes before the games. However, the knife was thrown with a large degree of accuracy. He turns his head quickly, keeping up the outward appearance of training single-mindedly, but keeping an eye on this 'Serena'. He doesn't know much about her, only knowing that she is a career, and that she can swim faster than him. He'd need to keep an eye on her... or perhaps two. She seems proficient in the art of stealth. A potential ally, but like the others, he needs to see more of her before making a decision.

Lurking in the corners, Sirena paced back and forth stabbing her spear into a few fake bodies around the room. Biting her bottom lip, she knew she had no allies, because no one really knew her. Just going to have to work my stealth and quickness to help me win. She thought to herself as she climbed up in a net for training.

"Now, Sirena. Let's stick to one thing." Her trainer warned cautiously but Sirena shook it off, continuing to climb up the net. Her whole life she had been told to do stuff she didn't want to, so she rolled her eyes as she got to the top. "Sirena!"

Almost just almost she wanted to say something back to her trainer she didn't. She didn't like speaking. They might learn too much if I did. I'll start listening to you when you win the games. Sirena said viciously in her mind to her trainer.

Just as she was about to climb down she made felt eyes on her. Turning around, she met eye to eye with a boy she knew as Tristan. He seemed like he might be a good ally, but she wasn't sure. Sirena's eyes followed him as she tried to wonder what it'd be like to have an ally. Maybe. She thought to herself, pulling her long black hair behind her ears so she could get a better view.

The girl seemed rebellious, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. He watches her climb... and almost looks startled when she locked eyes with him. Almost. Donning a friendly smile, he nods to Serena. No sense making enemies when he can avoid it. She seems... decent, at least. Or, if anything, not as bad as some of the other tributes present. However, he'd need to be exceedingly wary around her, whether she becomes an ally or not. Paranoia is almost always warranted in the Hunger Games. After all, in a game like the one they are in, survival is all one can strive for. Tristan will survive, he must. No matter the cost.

He smiled? Sirena thought to herself, something she tended to do often because she hated all forms of speech. She gave him a quick smile before jumping down. The trainer was yelling at Sirena about how she was going to fail in the hunger games without her 'amazing' guidance. Rolling her eyes, she guided her thoughts to him again.

She slowly made her way over to him, protectively still holding her spear in case he did anything that angered her. Her trainer noticed the stares that were being passed back and forth and snapped. "C'mon, Sirena. It'd be good if someone didn't think you were a sourpuss."

Ignoring her trainer one last time she approached him. She careful watched him like he was a new creature. He seemed strong, and powerful. "Why do you want to win?" Sirena burst out quietly, for the first time since she arrived. Leaning in as if she was intrigued, she kept her distance, but waited for an answer.

Tristan nods to her as she approaches, and as she asks why he wishes to win. He takes a moment to settle himself and think. She asked a good question. I could be used to gauge one's personality. "I want t-to survive. I want to live, so my brother can s-see me again." He doesn't mean to stutter, but he isn't too familiar-or comfortable-with contact with the opposite gender.

Sirena observed him, pondering whether or not that was a good answer. "So you want to survive for the sib?" She knew it wasn't very strong to show sympathy, but Sirena nodded on. "I'm sorry." She whispered, almost for a second lowering her weapon, but she didn't want to seem too open. She didn't want to be vulnerable to attack even though they were only training. "I'm here to prove a point." She said, even though she knew it wasn't good on her part to answer such of a weak response to one really deep.

Looking into his eyes, she scanned him over. Making direct eye contact, she said one last thing. "Good luck." Bracing herself to be considered 'weak' by Tristan, she nodded on, slowly preparing to turn around to continue training. Almost immediately she regretted wishing luck. She regretted ever talking.

Her dad told her talking was a sign of weakness. She had just opened herself to talk to someone that might be her murderer.

"Don't do friends. Don't do allies. Don't do love. Don't do anything that might beat you in the end."

Her father's words boomed in her head as she tried to shake them off, but they stayed.

Luke and Mark saw the look the other twins gave them."looks like we got twin allies for now and that one is dead first." Luke said about Sirena. He smirked they hadn't even jumped at the knife. The girl did not even impress them at all. That was a hard thing to do the twins were basically psychotic. I mean all the other tributes were repead Luke offered to join. He definitely was the most deadly tribute there was. They watched all the other tributes with smirks . "they have no chance. Accept that girl from Eleven. Keep and eye on that one I dont trust her."Luke said. Mark nodded in agreement.

Alexandria watched all the other Tributes inter act. She held her bow and arrows. She took her bow and hit each dummy intern then set it down. Luke and Mark were looking at her with small smirks. She gave them a your crazy look.

Hearing them talk, Sirena perked up. Her blood boiled, but she rolled her eyes realizing they weren't her effort. Not worth her anger. Sirena didn't even have to watch them, her anger to kill them was already strong enough. Grasping her spear she knew that she couldn't kill them here. She would just have to wait. Wait for the right timing. They were going to be killed with her bare hands. Sitting down, Sirena refused to talk, or even do anything more. She loved the way people hated her. It fueled her. It gave her a warm feeling, a feeling that she had almost forgotten. One, two, I'm coming here to kill you.

Radiance had noted the look that the twins gave them. Terra had noticed too. Does that mean that their allies? They knew that their mentor wouldn't mind. She looked at the career girl from four. She didn't exactly impress them. But since they were careers, the mentors have been talking. Sirena..... that was her name. Her attitude matched theirs. She would make a decent ally. Terra turned and grabbed her daggers. She swiftly threw one at the head of the dummy, stomach, chest, and lungs. She even did it without looking and while she was talking to Radiance. Radiance had done the same. Everytime she hit a bull's eye, she would say it. "Bull's eye," she smirked as the twentieth one landed in the center.

The sound of a knife hitting the target echoed through the walls, and Sirena shifted. Her trainers had tried to convince her to train, but she told them she didn't need it. Convincing herself to turn around, she glanced at Radiance and Terra. They were talking back and forth, and a pit of jealousy ripped through her. She never had a sibling so when she saw people with their siblings it started a fire in her. Even though she hated to admit it, those set of twins were prepared. Ready to fight. Good allies, but she wasn't sure. She didn't trust people. They didn't trust her. The feeling was mutual, so Sirena dodged into the shadows not wanting to come out till it was time. Hopping on the net, she observed everyone in the arena, making her itch to kill them all right then and there. Covering her head, Sirena started fiddling with the loose strand of the net, cutting a hole into and jumping to the platform below. It hit her that she'd probably have no allies. Nobody really liked her, except maybe for that Tristan boy. She was okay with no friends. I don't need them anyways. She exhaled, and continued training by stabbing the fake bodies with spears.

Tristan heads to the area for pole-arms after completing an intense hand-to-hand regimen. Surprisingly enough, he completely ignores the trident, grabbing an odd weapon consisting of a long pole, with a flat, spade-like blade on one end and a crescent-shaped blade on the other. It is a weapon that exudes grace and danger. This is only amplified when Tristan begins to use it, flowing between stances and strikes like water. He blows through the practice dummies, neatly severing them at various angles despite their thickness. If one were to inspect the cuts, they would see that they were aimed to cause significant damage, each and every blow causing a pseudo-fatal wound. It is obvious he has focused on hand-to-hand, as well as this weapon, for a large chunk of his life, and it shows through his dexterous handling. Even more so when one considers that he has just gone through a regimen that made even his trainer sweat, and even then the man had only sparred with Tristan.

Since Sirena had decided to dish her trainer's words, she followed around watching other tributes. They all seemed strong, and that made Sirena smile. It wouldn't be fair winning without good competition. She perched herself on the ground, sitting down criss-cross-applesauce watching the people walk by her in her shadows. Nobody really noticed her. Sirena wasn't sure if they didn't because they hadn't seen her, or if they just ignored her. Either one would work in her favor when the games started. They'd never see nor care that she was coming after them. They'd all assume they could kill her so when she strikes-BAM!
