Realistic or Modern Sunnywide High (LGBT+)

PenBlade1326

The Faint Light In The Dark Tunnel Of Life
In Sunnywide High School, there's an increasing rate of acceptance among the LGBT community. But it's a low ranger of acceptance, so the increase is slow. Still, progress! Even though it's 2016 and most people are rather open minded and cool, some still have their negative opinions. And so, LGBT students feel a little iffy on whether or not they're ready to come out. So, the Sunnywide Come Out Club was created! The club is advertised on social media/flyers, reaching out to all. This way, the LGBT students have a place to come to come out, express their feelings, be themselves, and have safe environment to talk in! All students, grades 9 through 12, are allowed!

Basically it starts out on the first day after winter break is over, and the club is announced via social media or flyers. Looking for a small group of about 5 people to join in on this, characters ranging from ages 14-19 and grades 9-12. Its a casual RP where I'd expect about 1 paragraph at least per post and no one liners! All site rules apply, obviously. Slice of life, drama, romance, all that jazz.

Winter break is over...long sigh is long. Troy, wearing his ever-so charming smile....really just a gloomy expression, walked into the front doors of his school. Sunnywide High, the local high school located in the middle of the city of Sunnywide...where everything is sunny. It didn't snow in Sunnywide, nor did it get cold. At least not freezing cold. California weather, for ya! Troy, in the middle of January, was wearing a black and white striped t shirt, black skinny jeans, a pair of vans, and a couple of wristbands on wither wrist. His glasses were pushed up on his nose, his bag slung over his shoulder. As he walked through the front door, slipping his car keys in his pocket, he heard the usual people whisper about him. "There's Troy...the gay kid. There's that kid who tried to kill himself. He's a total psycho. Better not use any meds around him, he'd probably try to steal them and kill himself." All of the usual BS. Funny how in 2016, people didn't know to not make fun of people with depression who've tried attempting suicide. You don't do it. It's not fucking cool. But yes, he was out of the closet. And he had sent out the email about the Come Out Club. Somehow he got ahold of every kid in school's email, and anonymously sent it out, inviting all students who are in or out the the closet to show up, feel accepted, and just have a safe place. He hoped a lot of people would show. Room 626 at 3:30 today...please let there be a turnout. He walked into his first classroom of the day, a general health class. There were kids of all grades in this class, so it was diverse. He sat in the middle of the room, setting his bag down and preparing himself for a boring first day back.

(I'd like all of the characters to have this first class together. @theunderwolf @MyShadowSelf @Saaaaaarah @SomatoToup123 @RIPSaidCone )

Returning to school was never something that Victoria enjoyed. She much preferred having all the free time in the world to herself. During the winter break she'd taken a trip to Los Angeles with her usual group of friends, and it was as fun as one could imagine. Being from Oregon, Victoria wasn't much used to the constant heat that California provided, especially that Sunnywide provided, but she'd gotten used to it after a little bit. Despite the fact that her skin was still maintaining her Oregonian paleness. Victoria was wearing a pair of tight, black jeans, an expensive, black Jack Wills jumper, with a floral patterned shirt underneath it. The collar of her shirt visible over the jumper. She had a group of 4 other girls following her closely behind, and as always, most people temporarily stopped what they were doing just to give Victoria a look, even if it was just to see what she was up to. As the gossip queen always had something interesting to show everyone. However not now, it was too early after winter break to have some juicy gossip already. She'd gotten an Email about some LGBT club earlier on, and was half tempted to reply back with a "Fuck off" or something similarly nasty, but she didn't. Truth be told she had been frustrated at herself for having certain..thoughts. But she knew it'd be funny to see who turned up, so she could spread the gossip. Or at least that's what she told herself. She strolled into her General Health class with her usual flawlessness, the other popularesque girls following closely behind as she took her seat at the front of the class, crossing her legs and giving her usual glare around the room. Her drones sitting down around her and gossiping among themselves. Victoria took her phone out and began idly browsing social media until the class started.

The break was over and school was starting again, much to Mason's dismay. The 16 year old spent most of his time in Florida with his cousins, where the activities consisted of going to the beach, having constant barbecues, and anything else you could do in such hot weather. Frankly, he was used to the heat, living in Sunnywide most of his life, but Miami definitely took the cake for the hottest city he knew. But whatever, he was back home in Sunnywide and his life was just going to go back to normal. The thought of things going back to normal made Mason think about the email he'd received recently and how that would effect him. Mason told his best friend, Thomas, about it, but the other boy only suggested that he go and check it out. 'It may be good for you.' He said, and Mason doubted that, but he listened to his friend's wishes and agreed to go. Now, Mason isn't out to anyone but Thomas, so going to this club thing might not be a good idea, however he didn't even know how other people would react to him. He's pretty well known at the school for a being a good sports player and being very social, but would people judge him based on his sexuality? It's high school, of course they would. After getting his books from his locker, Mason went to his first class of the day, General Health. Upon entering, he noticed there were a few seats open, one next to a popular girl, Victoria, and the other next to a well known boy, but for the wrong reasons, Troy. He decided to sit next to Troy, Victoria didn't seem too friendly.

Ashton cringed slightly as a sudden gust of wind slammed the front door he was desperately trying to close quietly. The breeze was comfortable though, almost as if it was a breathe of warm air. That was what it usually was like here in Sunnywide. Although he had never really been in a town or city that was generally quite cold, he wanted that experience. Him being born and bred here was beginning to get boring. What could he say - Ash was a wonderer. The boy had just been out for his routine-morning run and it was peaceful. Even though the sound of the door slamming shut covered the whole house, it didn't seem to cause a commotion. Ash shrugged slightly, walking upstairs to the bathroom to get freshened up for the first day of school. Once he had stripped down and jumped in the shower, he could relax and surround himself with his thoughts. Just yesterday, he had received an anonymous email for a new club starting this year: Come Out Club. Ashton had to admit, he thought it sounded pretty stupid and cheesy but during the winder break, he had begun to feel a little...different. He didn't really know what happening, but he didn't want to obsess over it either. It was after school and other than his usual painting and sketching hobbies, he wasn't doing much. He might as well pop in...well, maybe.

Once he was finished with the shower and had brushed his teeth and all the other things part of his daily routine, he was done. He walked out and into his bedroom, putting on his outfit. He still had a few minutes to waste before he had to go so he decided to walk over to his closet. Ashton had made the closet to be where he usually read and made his art. He spend the rest of time painting, causing his fingers to be covered with spots of paint and a few on his clothes to. The boy had actually forgotten about the time. He had been painting for over an hour now and only now just checked the time.
Shit. Ashton picked up his backpack and ran down the stairs, nearly tripping over himself as he sped out of the door and to the garage where he kept his bike. He mounted the vehicle and immediately sped off in the direction of the school.

When he arrived, he walked into the hallway after locking up his bike and took a deep breathe. He hadn't been around so much people in a long time and it already had his heart beating fast. He needs to calm down he decided as he walked over to the reception and received his schedule. He looked down at the piece of paper and read it closely. His first class was General Health and he sighed, looking up. Ashton began to walk to the class, already wincing as people bumped into him as he struggled to push through. He found the class, eventually, and walked in. He ran a hand through his hair as he searched around for a seat. He absolutely hated walking into a room and, even if it wasn't, all eyes were on him. He kept his head low as he went to sit down next to one of the school bullies: Victoria. Ashton wasn't exactly a target for the bullies as he usually kept under the radar, which wasn't a problem for him. It still wasn't his most preferred choice but it seemed there was no where else to sit. He put his bag down and looked around the room briefly. It seemed, to his horror, that another one of the bullies were in the same class. His eyes lingered on the boy a little as he recalled his name: Mason. He shook his head, taking out his sketch pad and a pencil from his bag and began to sketch subconsciously. It was something that calmed his nerves.

(Sorry if this was a lot! I couldn't help myself haha :3)

As Mason took his seat by Try's side, he glanced at him with his eyes, but not moving his head. Mason was known for being kind of social and playing sports...the opposite of Troy: known for attempted suicide and being a "flaming" homosexual. However, it surprised him that somebody had actually sat next to him voluntarily. His eyes then flew up to Ashton, a guy who, on occasion, came to school with paint on his clothes. He didn't know a lot about him, just that he kept himself off the radar a tad. His eyes remained focused on him until he sat down. He watched as he began sketching...wondering what he was sketching.

Then, his eyes looked at Victoria....he was slightly afraid of her. He didn't really have anything bad to say about her, just...her reputation and overall aura gave him chills. He didn't quite get how she had so many drones to follow her...she seemed like Regina George from Mean Girls. Only Victoria hadn't been hit by a bus...oh god, he hoped not! He shook his head his eyes returning to Mason. He gave him a small smile, being little social himself. He had this class with him and others all year, but he hadn't spoke to him before. "Hey...have..h-have a good break?" He asked the boy, making small conversation. He instantly regretted it, for he thought he might stain the boys reputation by talking to him.

Mason looked up when he heard Ashton come in, locking eyes with the boy for a second. They didn't really have that good of a history, Mason was only trying to make small talk, but he came off as a bully and, well, that's what Ashton sees him as now. Still, he couldn't help but be a bit disappointed that things didn't go down differently between them, but whatever, it is how it is and Mason's already used to being misunderstood. He turned back to Troy after he'd heard him ask a question, but instead of answering, his mind was focused on something else. "Hey, you were the kid who tried to kill yourself, right? Why was that? Were you tired of being a I'm uncultured or something?" Again, Mason was coming off as offensive without even knowing it, something that seemed to deem him as a bully. He looked at the other boy with genuine curiosity on his face, not seeing anything wrong with his question or choice of words. It was a little ironic that he was talking about I'm uncultured, especially with some of the things he'd done of the winter break. He sneaked another small glance at Ashton, only to see him sketching on a little sketch pad. With the paint on his clothes and the fact that he'd seen him draw before, Mason could tell Ash was the artsy type. He reverted his attention back to Troy, waiting for his answer.

More Facebook notifications, that was all her phone was ever full up with. Along with texts and missed phone calls, despite her.."duty" one could say. To be the leader of the more popular kids, Victoria simply didn't have the patience to constantly be there to talk to them. And so her phone did regularly get clogged up in missed attempts at contact. She groaned out of annoyance when she noticed that one of the jocks had planned a party without her consent, and now she would have to notify the others to bring the beer, two days before the party was scheduled. It was the little things like that, that just made her blood boil. She still had the Email from that Come Out Club opened in another tab, and she re-read it carefully, making sure to keep her phone's screen hidden from anybody else's view as she did so. Last thing she needed was anyone who was unfortunate enough to think it was a good idea to try and spread rumors about her. The last person who did, well, they magically lost all their friends overnight.

She heard someone's footsteps approaching her immediate vicinity and looked up from her phone, where she had closed the Email. Seeing the somewhat familiar face of one of the..less desirable students. At least from Victoria's point of view. Whatever his name was..John or something? She didn't really know, nor did she care. All she knew that he was one of the weirdos that wandered about the school. Someone she really didn't like, even though she hardly knew him. She inched herself away from him and gave him a brief glare, a look of disgust almost. It was in her nature to be rude after all. She let out a disgruntled sigh before looking back down at her phone. The only thing that was distracting her from this shitty ass class that she hated even going to in the first place. Her other friends were still chatting among themselves, as they knew well enough when Victoria wasn't in the mood for gossiping.

She did notice someone out the corner of her eye though, she was good at that. Spotting people, irregularities if you will. She had keen eyesight, much like a cat. Looking as if she always had some ulterior motive on her mind or a glare on her face. It was that one kid that tried to kill himself, that had been interesting..to say the least. Victoria at the time knew that she should've at least felt bad for him, but she didn't really. It was his business and if anything it made him weak. That had been the moment when Victoria accepted that she did..share some traits with her mother, who was a terribly unsympathetic person. She gave him a glare as he looked at her and returned to looking at her phone. Knowing that he would've gotten the message from that look alone. The sooner she got out of that class, the better.

Troy was taken back by the direct nature of Mason's question. "Uh...yes, that was me. I tried to kill myself. But my reasons are my own. I'm not uncultured." He replied, a fire in his voice. He didn't know Mason was just curious, so he assumed he was trying to attack him with words. Really...who asks stuff like that in such a blunt fashion? His eyes left Mason's, reverting back to his desk, making sure he had everything he needed for class when it eventually started. He noticed Victoria's glare, questioning why she gave him one. Jeez...what's her problem? "And anyway, Mason, you didn't answer my question before you decided to invade my privacy. How was your break?" He asked Mason again, ignoring the thing he said earlier. he was just making conversation.

Ashton kept his head low as he continued to draw. He hated the stares that was burning into him, even if there wasn't even a lot of people watching him. With it being the first day and all, it seemed that everyone was pretty tired from staying up late and what-not. He felt the pencil creating the marks on he piece of paper as he drew. In all honesty, the boy had no idea what he started off drawing in the first place. Sometimes he would start off with a scribble, and then it would turn into something completely different.

He glanced back at the group of the two boys. They were both very attractive---wait, hold on. He shook his head, biting his lip slightly.
What was that, Ash? It puzzled him as to why he would have even thought about that. He banished the thought from his head immediately. One of them was named Troy and he remembered that there was some news traveling around the school about him, that he had tried to kill himself. He felt sympathy for the boy as he realized how much attention he would be receiving now, especially with him being gay and everything, but also how many people would be so weary about him. Let's just say Ash had seen it happen before. The other one, Mason. He remembered the time when he had tried to converse with him but, as Ashton usually did, he tried to stay away. He had heard about him, almost as if he was infamous with all that he did. Ashton winced slightly as he remembered how he had already signed him off as a bully. Maybe he should have given him a chance, but it was too late now.

Ashton glanced back, briefly looking at Victoria. He had just caught a glare of absolute disgust that was directed at himself. He bit his lip, immediately looking away. Maybe he should've sat somewhere else, he wondered as he continued to draw. He was about to open a conversation with the girl when the teacher walked in, causing his mouth to shut quickly.

Mason chuckled at his reaction, a little taken back at how forward he was being. He'd thought this boy was shy and reserved, it seemed to be the exact opposite. "Well, if you want to know so badly, my break was cool. Spent some time in Miami with my family, so that was fun." Just thinking about it made him miss being back in Florida. The break didn't last long enough for him, and he's pretty sure every kid in this school felt the same way. Sighing, Mason drummed his fingers against the desk. "Whatever though, how was your break, didn't try to kill yourself again did you?" It was a joke, and frankly, Mason saw no problem in it. He was only teasing, no reason for anyone to try and cut his balls off because of it. He noticed Ash look over again and a small smile grew on the corner of his lips, only for a second before he forced it back down. Before he could get an answer from the other boy, the teacher walked in. Now Mason was in no way a star student, but with all the trouble he was already in, it wouldn't be a good idea to upset her even more. He turned to the front, itching for the day to be over already.

Suze sighed as she let the hot water wash over her. It had been a long morning. Ever since the coach of the football team decided to switch to morning practices her early days were nothing but pretty bad. Up at five and at school for practice at six was the drill. Coach was out for blood this year. She wanted state and Suze wanted to give it to her. The squad was not as excited, especially with the early mornings and hard work. She swore to herself. Trying to teach them to actually lay was a long bloody difficult process. Suze personally was one of the best players in the county and near the best in the state (&@#$ing Ashley Killinghem) and she had trying to teach the squad the British style of play but most of the chavs couldn't handle so much as touching another player, never mind the aggression they needed to handle the strong attacks of the british style. Still though, she thought as she rinsed her hair and began to step out of the stall, they had the raw talent. The team was quick (they had snatched up a couple of track runners) and weren't bad on the ball, so she was privately optimistic. Drying herself off quickly, she trew on her blue jeans, tanktop and a light coat, finishing the ensemble with her FC Chelsea scarf. Grabbing her messenger bag she ran to the kitchen and grabbed a light breakfast to eat on the road and left the house waving briefly to her already working mother.

After tying up her bike She entered the school with her head down and ipod in and ran through her stops. First, student government office to pick up all the work she needed to do that day, ten her locker then finally to her first class, general health. She sighed sadly. She was trying to get into an ivy league. If health wasn't a requirement, she'd have signed up for something as far away as possible. Sighing she walked in evaluating the other eens. Victoria and her possey of girls, including Vicky the mid fielder who needed to learn the term "LATERAL PASS". A couple others and Troy, the suicidal kid. She hated him for trying to commit suicide. Felt bad of course, it was such a sad thing and her condolences went out to his family. But there were only so many suicide outreach programs and budget forms one could go through without starting to hate the one who caused him. Seeing the only open seat she sat in it after nudging her bag off her shoulder. Not intending to pay attention to this easy A she pulled out the first thing on her carefully written agenda. A new club had been registered, but hadn't filled out half its paperwork including all the hard forms. As the class president of the clups president, she had to make sure they were properly turned in. Ugh. She was going to politely strangle whoever hadn't filed these forms, who was it, Troy White. Is there anything he could do that wouldn't cause her more paperwork! She shot him a look that could kill a bull elephant before she went back to sorting out the forms.

Aurora's blue eyes fluttered open as she heard the sound of knocking on her. "What?!" she yelled, annoyed. "Sweetheart, you have school today. You're gonna be late!" she heard the sound of her mother's voice, causing her to groan. Of course, she knew today was the first day back to school but she damn sure didn't want to go back. Hell, she ignored the alarm clock she sure her mom managed to set up in her room for a reason. She had already spent 3 years at Sunnywide High School and as far as she was concerned, that was more than enough time. She slowly sat up from her bed and after a minute or so, proceeded to get up and go into her personal bathroom. Aurora looked at her appearance in the mirror and held both of the sides of her face like Jamie Lee Curtis in Freaky Friday before saying, "Oh, I'm like the crypt keeper!" She laughed at her own joke before grabbing her makeup bag and wiping the remaining, smeared makeup off of her face with makeup wipes. She went back into her room, grabbed her phone from the nightstand and smiled at the numerous texts she received from her friends about the party they had last night. She replied to them, before returning back to the bathroom and connecting her phone to the speakers, turning on Hayley Kiyoko's EP ""This Side of Paradise." Aurora turned on the shower, got in, and began dancing as "Girls Like Girls" played. She sang along as she washed her body. As the song ended, she got out of the shower and continued dancing as "Cliff's Edge" played. She dried off, put her

outfit on, and began applying her makeup. After being satisfied with her appearance, she left her room, making sure to grab everything she needed: a binder, two pens, her car keys and her phone.

When Aurora got downstairs, her dad was heading out the door. "Have a good day at school, princess," he told her, before closing the door behind him. She rolled her eyes.
Don't fucking call me that, she thought to herself. She walked into the kitchen and poured herself a glass of orange juice. "Aurora," she heard her mother's voice followed by the sound of someone coming down the stairs and quickly decided it was time for her to leave - now. Before her mother could get a word out, she was already out of the door. She got into her car. She started the car and grabbed the pack of cigarettes out of the glove department. She lit it with her pink lighter that had the word BADASS written on it and proceeded to drive towards school.

As Aurora arrived to Sunnywide High School, she quickly wanted to turn her car around and go somewhere else. It's your last year, she reasoned with herself. She held her cigarette between her lips as she parked and grabbed her things before getting out of the car. She took two long drags before stomping the cigarette into the ground and putting her favorite perfume, CHANEL Coco Mademoiselle, on. She walked inside of the school building and into the office to get her schedule. When she walked inside, she noticed her 11th grade English teacher and winked at her. The older woman quickly scurried out of the office. She smirked to herself. Aurora was sure that the woman thought that she would tell everyone that they had sex on the last day of school last year but Aurora wasn't the type of girl who kissed and told, unless it benefited her. In the blue-eyed girl's head, sleeping with a teacher wasn't anything to brag about to kids she knew would go and tell everyone they knew. Aurora got her schedule and left the office. She looked at the paper and noticed General Health was her first class. What a waste of fucking time, she thought to herself. She knew that she was late to class and although she didn't care, she wondered who was in her class so she decided to go. As she proceeded towards the class, and realized the halls were empty. She glanced at her phone and realized she had an e-mail entitled, "Come Out Club." She scoffed as she opened it. Who the hell would go to that? she thought, as she closed the e-mail. Aurora walked inside of the classroom and smirked when the first person she noticed was Victoria. "This is going to be fun," she said, under her breath.

Victoria was distracted from her phone by the teacher, who had just entered the classroom. She sighed and slipped her phone back into her pocket. Knowing that she'd have it confiscated if she was caught using it in class. And threatening to sue a teacher for confiscating your phone was a case that not even Victoria could successfully pull off. Why did she have to get put in a class with so many weirdos, at least she had her posse to back her up and keep her company. Not that she needed it, but it was certainly a whole lot better than being stuck in here alone. Her friends had quietened down as the teacher entered and began talking about whatever the lesson was going to be about, Victoria had little interest in it and so she barely paid any attention. However there was a late addition to the class that did interest her. And oh boy did she despise this girl, Aurora Woods. The little punk-ass with an attitude, the same punk-ass that made Victoria's blood boil whenever they were in the same general area as each other.

Victoria glared at Aurora as she noticed the smirk and murmur. And if looks could kill, then Aurora wouldn't last long. But unfortunately for Victoria, they couldn't. Strangest thing was, if someone were to ask Victoria about her hatred for Aurora, she wouldn't be able to properly tell you why. The two were actually quite similar in some ways, and so it made little sense as to why the short haired girl hated the punk. She turned her attention back to the teacher, not wanting to waste any more of her brainpower on that girl. She'd noticed that the boy next to her, whatever his name was. Had almost looked as if he was about to talk to her before the teacher began speaking. And with that, Victoria almost scoffed right then and there just at the thought of it. She kept her killer gaze on as she idly inspected around the classroom, like a cat surveying it's surroundings before pouncing. Victoria folded her arms and noticed the other late addition to the class. Suze, the British girl that headed the soccer team, with that typical, hideous soccer scarf. The girl's fashion sense offended Victoria just by existing, not that she ever spoke out about it. It wasn't worth her time, like a lot of things. However the girl herself was an alright person, and didn't bother Vic much. All in all, this class wasn't one to envy. And Victoria wasn't in the mood to even come to school today, so it wasn't a particularly good mix for the short haired, blonde girl.

Ashton glanced up as another late addition came into the class. If he remembered correctly, her name was Suze. He had bumped into her before, sometimes seeing her playing a match in the girl's soccer team. He offered her a smile, even though she seemed to only notice Victoria. He bit his lip. Even last year, he liked to stay more invisible to the others, and that was definitely not a problem for him. He directed his head back down at the paper below him, his hand seeming to scribble away even if he wasn't watching. After all, it was abstract. The boy glanced up yet again as he saw another person come in. He immediately looked at Victoria and sighed quietly. Everyone knew that the girl next to him and Aurora pretty much have been having an endless feud ever since they met each other, and nobody even knew why! He shrugged slightly, glancing back at the boys on the other side. He bit his lip again, muttering a small 'good-bye' to Victoria before moving over and sitting a couple of desks in front of the boys. He took out another piece of paper and began to listen to the teacher. Even though it was a stupid class, he had been actually missing the school life. Well, sort of anyway.
