Region of Origin: The Maw of the Dragon, sometimes referred to as the Great Maw, is a secluded island in the east of the Great Deep. It is a fairly tiny island consisting of dense, mountainous jungles with some small towns scattered about. Shihong came from a town known as Hong-long-zun (Red Dragon Village.) His village was known throughout the Great Maw as a town of Smiths. All of the men in the Red Dragon Village took up smithing as their trade, Shihong included. Smithing was such an important aspect of the Red Dragon Village, that it was even incorporated into the town’s own style of the Dragon Arts.

The Dragon Arts are a secret martial art known only to those born within the Great Maw. It is a special martial art that is native to the region. Each village of the Great Maw has their own respective style named after their village. Red Dragon Style is a special fighting style specializing in pure strength. Users of the Red Dragon Style have been known to use their fists to great effect by putting all their strength behind their strikes. Some members have even been known to use their blacksmith's tools in combat to great effect. The Dragon Arts can also go beyond a simple martial art. The leaders of each village have been known to utilize their Kindled Spirit in order to greatly enhance their martial arts. The denizens of the Great Maw have referred to Kindled Spirit as Qi and treat it's mastery as a sacred art.

His hair is a shade of fiery red with a few bangs falling between his eyes and to the sides of his face. He also has a very long ponytail that flows down his back gracefully. Shihong’s eyes are naturally green, but in the heat of battle they flash red with the intensity of a burning ship. Shihong is almost always seen wearing clothing from his hometown.

About: Sun Shihong was born in the Red Dragon Village in the year 3124. His father and master was Sun Shun, the Grand Master of Red Dragon Village. At the age of five, Shun began his son’s initial training in the Red Dragon Style. Shihong learned the basics of forging and martial arts. When he reached the age of 12, Shihong was already a decent enough smith and was helping out everyone in the village with their projects. Finally, Sun Shun told his son that it was time to begin his true training. Sun Shun taught his son the true potential of the Red Dragon Style. Sun Shihong learned how to harness his Qi and use it effectively in combat. Sun Shun was more than impressed with his son’s powerful Qi and his immense strength. But, there was one thing that concerned Shihong’s father.

Unlike his father, who was complacent and took his position with great pride. Shihong had a great wanderlust and often found himself exploring the jungles around his home and visiting the other villages on the island. One day when he was still under ten years old, he saw a explorer's ship pulling into port. The crew of the ship came to see the fine craftsmanship of the Red Dragon Smiths. Ever since, Sun Shihong wanted to become a sailor and explore every inch of the Great Deep.

When he turned eighteen, Shihong came of age and was given a choice. To remain in the town to succeed his father, or go on pilgrimage to hone his techniques as both a fighter and a smith. Shihong obviously chose the latter. He left the Great Maw and the Red Dragon Village behind and chose the life he always dreamed of. The people of the village had even pulled their efforts to forge a small iron ship for Shihong, who was overjoyed. Shihong named the ship after his village and with joyful tears in his eyes, he set off to start his journey.

A year passed and Sun Shihong opened up a shop on the Horus Mainland named the Dragon’s Breath Arms. Here he makes weapons for guards and rogues alike while also tinkering away at his mastercraft. A pair of massive, ornate gauntlets designed to harness and maximize his Qi. He had been working on them ever since he began he turned 15.

Okay, let's start:

First off, pretty fancy, with the graphical sheet and all. :P So my first thought is that it seems a little bare? I have several questions for sure, and I feel the sheet could do with more detail. What exactly are the Dragon Arts? How are they distinct? Why did his people exile him for eating the Fruits? It certainly is illegal, but that does not mean that people immediately hate you for it. How did he learn smithing?

I would also require a definitive position he could take. Also, the rumor of the Calamity Trees is somewhat impossible. IF a rumor of an island with a consistent income of Eclipse Fruits existed, Horus would most certainly seize that area. Your native island can certainly be secluded, but if there is such a thing, then Horus would certainly know about it.

I mostly kept it brief so I wouldn't have to keep resizing the graphic but I can definitely make changes.

First, Dragon Arts are a ki based martial art native to the Maw. It is a martial art that allows the user to achieve greater strength by harmonizing their mind and body. Those who master the art are able to manipulate their ki in powerful new ways. Most kids of the island began initial training at five to learn the basics of ki. At the age of twelve, the trainees are taken as apprentices by the islands masters. Masters can only have one apprentice.

Second, I wasn't originally going to go with Shihong being exiled but I thought it would fit better with the world. The original idea was that when an apprentice completes their training under their master they undergo a ceremony. They are granted a Hell Fruit and would be sent on pilgrimage to hone their skills. If that idea works better I can switch it to that

Third, Shihong learned smithing and metal work in his spare time as a young boy. All throughout his life he devoted his spare time to learning metal working with the aid of his town's smith. His hope was that if he couldn't buy a ship, since he was just a kid, he could build his own.

A few of those things won't work.

Dragon Arts essentially draw from the same energy that Kindled Spirits are based on. I don't want these to cross over. An individual who has mastered their Kindled Spirit, it could certainly empower a Martial Arts style, but this is too similar.

As for the exile, I would appreciate a change, but not to that. Eclipse Fruits are, like I said, supposed to be exceptionally rare, so having a whole culture based around "granting" one is not acceptable. They would either be seized by Horus or, even if an island could somehow reliably produce Trees without the outside world knowing of it, no duplicates would come. All Eclipse Fruits are unique. Perhaps it'd be possible to establish something of the sort that another might grow when the previous owner is dead or something similar, but for now, all Fruits are one-of-a-kind.

Yeah, I don't think that works, really. I do like the idea of a smith, but it's a very demanding work, and certainly not something you pick up "in spare time". Especially because certain elements would be too much for a young kid. Since Shihong is only 19, he would not have years and years of hands-on experience needed to craft intricate things like those gauntles. Speaking of which: How are they supposed to empower the Hell Fruit?

Kindred Spirit energy will work fine. That's Dragon Arts sorted then.

For the Eclipse Fruit I'm still unsure on how to have Sun happen upon the Hell Fruit. Perhaps Sun happened upon the fruit while playing in the jungles of his home Island and kept his powers a secret.

As for the gauntlets, they would be designed to serve as a conduit for the Hell Fruit's powers. They could function almost like a battery. Sun can pump his flames into it and release it with varying levels of effect depending on the output. It also enables Sun to use his own, more strength focused style of Dragon Art. I'm uncertain how Sun will happen upon these gauntlets. Maybe they were given to him by his Master or by a Rogue Commander that Sun admired.

I am very much open to your own suggestions, please feel free to offer your own ideas. I would like Sun to fit into your world and I can worry about making him more of my own when if comes to developing his story arc in game.

I personally feel as if he's a little cluttered at the moment. A young Fire Fruit using smith with martial arts sounds a little too much IMO for the beginning of the roleplay. I don't think he needs the Fruit at the moment in all honesty. I think you could make a wonderfully distinct character by fleshing out the smithing/gauntlet thingy, and making that his focus. The young apprentice of a well-respected smith perhaps, who is very gifted, and wants to hone his craft during his travels? Something of that sort.

I would generally like to see a more distinct role, if that makes sense. Perhaps even something like using a smithing hammer, or a small anvil as weapons. That sorta thing.

I can definitely agree to this since I was pondering him acquiring his fruit later on. This can definitely work. I think I might still want to mess around with the martial arts aspect and see what I can come up with.

I've seen movies before, where someone with a seemingly harmless profession (say, a cook, or a hairstylist) fought in a karate-style with their gear (like, a ladle, or scissors). Perhaps you could fuse the fighting style to incorporate your smithing hammer, or something of that sort? :D

That would actually be pretty dope. Just have him go full Jackie Chan on someone. I might even make the people of the Dragon's Maw have an equally strong passion for the forge.
