Iris was at a loss of words, when approaching what use to be the beautiful blue ocean had turned to a constantly color changing mineral. "It seems that everything has changed..." She remembered coming here as a child and loving to rest in the sun while building sand castles. She could barley bring herself to step on what use to rule the earth, but overcoming the cruel memories, Iris began her journey to venture through the wide open space. It would take at least three days if she didnt rest, and luckily she was prepared with meat she had found from a carcass of some sort of animal. It could have been a dog or maybe a small deer, she had no idea and in this world you shouldnt be picky with what keeps you alive.

Erica shot through the air, flapping her long bat wings smoothly. The lands below her were multicolored and unnatural. It was something she was shocked by at first. But once her mind took in that it didn't matter any longer, her shock faded, and she learned to deal with it. She had left her house shortly after her mother went insane. She had grabbed a rusty cleaver from inside the kitchen, and was calling out:

"Ericaaa? Where have you gone off to now? Don't you want to play a game of hide-and-seek with your mommy?"

Typical insanity was what it was. But Erica didn't mind one bit. If the world was contaminated from the stars and everything became multicolored, She would go insane as well. Luckily, Erica had kept her sanity, and moved on to a new life. Her old life was part of the past now.

She continued to flap her black wings, keeping her red eyes in front of her instead of below. A tiny bat with big ears flew lazily around her, making small clicking noises. Erica flapped faster, diving under a huge rain cloud and shooting towards the ground. Lightly, her feet touched the forest floor below as she landed. The bat sat on her shoulder, folding it's tiny wings and shivering a bit.

"It's okay, Naiko. We're almost there." She said in a soft voice, padding silently through the forest as she searched for something to eat.

Kai continued walking, figuring he'd give his wings sometime to rest up before he'd be off in the sky once again. For one reason or the other, he felt like he needed no more to view the world from above for one day. He'd already seen this tragedy way too often, there's no need to continue slinking over it. Honestly, it doesn't has much affect on him at the moment than it used to when it had first occurred. He remembered a time when the skies were blue, protective shields of atmosphere while the oceans were as clear as the sky. Those were better times and now is a time of solitude and dread.

The clinking of the metallic chain around his right ankle continued on as his feet continued to trot ahead. Left, right, left, right. The emptiness of the dirt route calmed him in a way but also upset him. He was in no rush to get anywhere but he was outrunning time. It was only a matter of time before night would strike and the inevitable cold air would be tough to endure once again.

Kai's ears perked up at the sound of wings beating through the air. In another direction, he heard footsteps. He shook the thought out of his head. Insanity did this a lot to people. He wouldn't be surprised if he was sensing the effects.

Iris, decided to make the journy across this vast spread of what use to be water, now crystal. She couldnt see anything for miles around, it was obvious that there was absolutley nothing out here, not even the insane beings that starved and killed on this earth. Just as she thought she was in the clear, Iris saw what looked to be some sort of body. She walked a little further can came across a young boy, or well, it body. He was no more then ten it looked like from his remains and he died only recently.

He was probably trying to cross the ocean too...but heading the other way from his body position. Its sad...he almost made it. iris decided to leave the body be, taking meat from a child didnt seem right, and anyways, she already had enough for her travel. She was barefoot against the cold rock, staring down at her reflection other then looking out for any other crazy life forms. "I promise dad..." She whispered to herself, when being alone for so long you get lonley of course, this breaks you down into even talking to yourself.

"Promise what?" Kai asked from the side of Iris. He knew he should keep his distance. In a place like this, everybody is skeptical of everybody and anything. She probably would've freaked out and tried to kill him or something, not that he wasn't up for a fight. he just thought it wouldn't be decent to kill someone who seemed...almost harmless. Heck! He was a little excited to see someone else seeing as though he hadn't come across a living being in a long while. He just didn't show his excitement, that would just portray a crazy look.

Kai looked down at the chain wrapped around his bare ankle. He had been tied up for weeks now with this chain and he has yet to find a way to unchain it from his leg. He wasn't really bothered by it physically as it was bothering him in finding some prey on foot. When flying, he was sorta okay with finding food. Aside from that, he looked back to Iris, putting his Sai equipped hands up in surrender.

"Don't worry, I'm not crazy...I promise." He tried to reason, only to realize how crazy her might've sounded. Popping out from nowhere and stalking someone wasn't always the sane thing to do.

Erica continued to walk through the forest, pausing when she heard breathing not to far away. She pulled out her bow and arrows, stalking towards the sound quietly. She pressed her back against an old tree, peeking around the corner to see what she had heard. Her eyes widened slightly, not at all suspecting a man with black wings to be standing there. She didn't know whether to show herself, or stay hidden.

Her bat, Naiko, seemed to decide for her.

Quickly, the small bat had leaped off her shoulder and was flying around the mans head, screeching furiously. Erica stepped out immediately, her breath stopping as she locked eyes with the man with wings. She didn't say a word, just stared.

After a few moments, the bat flew back to her, and she turned around, running off in another direction. She didn't know what this man was capable of. He could be insane for all she knew.

(Whoops lol. My post was a little late >.<)

Iris's body whipped around to face Kai, there was a look of pure terror in her face. She stood there for a few moments, looking like a deer in headlights before sprinting the opposite way of him, luckily it was the way she was wanting to head, farther into the ocean. Due tot he gifts the star gave her, she was able to fun faster then any normal human, but no faster then a deer. Iris's heart was beating almost faster then her feet were able to touch the ground. Meeting new people scared her half to death, she hadnt ever killed anyone, all she had every done was run away. All her life she was never able to stand up to someone, an now when her life depends on it, she would still rather flee then fight and gain equipment that might save her pathetic exuse for a life.

"No!" Kai exclaimed as she sprinted the other way. "Wait...I didn't mean to--" Kai let out a deep sigh, deciding to just let her go. That was the first living being he's seen in a long while and he scared her away. Great, just great. Kai let out a growl and kicked the rocks that laid across the ground. He wasn't really mad as he was disappointed. Maybe she had some place to go? Wow, where would that be? Kai didn't want to push her any farther since he practically scared the living crap out of her. Instead, he took a seat on a boulder nearby and let out another sigh, looking out to the sky.

Iris turned her head over her shoulder, still booking it across the now flat terrain. She slowly lowered her speed to a walk, panting slightly from how fast she ran. "That was close...He might be still sane since he looked like he had a mutation, but even ones like me can still look out for a meal. I really need to be more on gaurd!" She marched ahead forward, keeping a eye out for anything that looked suspicious. She could tell it was getting dark, but she couldnt stop now, she needed to keep moving to reach what she thought was Europe in time. It suddenly clicked in her mind what she planned to do once reaching the cave. There were probably other people in there just waiting for their next visitor, would she run away yet again and let her childish fears get the better of her or would she stay an try to make peace. She had to overcome this fear early so it wont be such a challange in the future, she promised her dad.

Erica stopped once she had noticed the man was not following her. That was probably the first person she's seen who isn't insane..

"Should I go back?" She asked no in particular, glancing over at Naiko, who squeaked fretfully. Letting out a sigh, she walked back in the direction where she had seen the man.

She saw him sitting on a boulder, and she immediately hid behind a tree, peeking around the corner. She blinked her red eyes, taking a step forward. A twig snapped underneath her foot, and she gasped, freezing up. Once again, she had locked eyes with the man.

"Do you have the disease?" She asked quietly, still not showing herself completely. The bat on her shoulder stayed, and curiously looked at Kai. Erica put her hand on the bark of the tree, digging her claws into it. Just in case he was insane, she brought out her bow and arrow, gripping it tightly in her left hand.

Kai was just about to leave, once again before he was seized by a soft voice coming from behind him. Was he going insane or was there another living person somewhere around there? He knew it wasn't the girl from earlier because this voice had a different pitch from the sound of it. Slowly, he shifted on his seat on the boulder and faced the wooded wall of trees. Kai's eyes scanned his surroundings as he looked for the person, hoping he wouldn't scared them off as well. He slowly shook his head at the question, kicking his feet up and down as he tilted his head.

"No, I'm perfectly healthy...or...at least close to perfectly healthy." Kai responded with a sweet smile, fluttering his wings a bit. Finally, he met the girl's eyes and nodded her over.

"Come out...I don't bite. Honest."

Erica cringed a bit when he finally found her among the trees. She took a step backwards, but stopped herself.

Don't run away.. She told herself confidently. Taking a deep breath, she showed herself completely, and stepped towards the man. Her red gaze shown brightly in the dark, and they were still locked with his.

"You seem.. Normal." She said softly, taking another step towards him.

"If you try anything, I'll put an arrow to your heart." She said, a little surprised she had threatened him in the first place. She usually kept quiet when first meeting someone.

She stopped padding closer to him when she was next to the boulder he sat on. She studied his wings, noticing they made from Hawk feathers. Naiko squeaked furiously, flying off her shoulder and hovering right in front of Kai's face.

"Naiko." She said sternly, and immediately, the bat flew back to her shoulder, flashing Kai curious glances.

"Are you looking for the cave too?" She asked him quietly, referring to the cave that was free from all the insanity and multicolored landscapes.

Kai jolted his head back just a bit when she had threatened to kill him. Of course, he wasn't the one to judge since he had expected an approach like that from just about anyone. He shrugged off her threat and noticed the tight grip of her bow in her left hand. She probably wasn't playing when she said she'd strike an arrow through his heart. But he wasn't exactly the kind to trust so easily either, no wonder he'd kept his grip on his Sai as well. He didn't plan on using it unless attack first but she wasn't exactly making the best impression at this point. Letting out a sigh, Kai nodded.

"Yeah, I'm guessing almost every other living person left on this earth is looking for it as well." He sighed, knowing it was most likely true. Kai ignored the girl's bat, just merely annoyed but nothing too serious.

"I'm Kai by the way, nice to meet you Naiko...and..." he nodded towards Erica as if to ask for her name.

"It's fine if you don't wanna tell me." he shrugged.

"Erica." She said softly, responding almost immediately. Her eyes widened a bit, and she looked away from him. Saying her name to him was a 'blurt out' really. She hadn't intended on telling him her name until later. She sighed quietly, deciding it wasn't really a big deal anyways.

Looking back to him, she tilted her head slightly.

"Are you.. Hungry?" She asked. She had heard about a mile away a soft noise of a deer crunching through the leaves. It sounded hurt, as if someone had already tried to claim it.

"I.. Hear a deer. A mile away. It sounds hurt, and it's stumbling a bit in it's tracks." She murmured, saying what her ear was hearing. She looked in the direction she could hear it from, the small bat wings on her head twitching a bit.

"It has a broken leg, and a stab wound in it's back."

She looked at Kai, curious to see his reaction to her incredible hearing. Deciding she didn't really care what his reaction was, she offered him her hand.

"Come on. If we get there in time, we'll be able to catch it."

Kai could only guess what she was bonded with. Most likely Bat since her wings made it obvious and her pet could only assure his guess. She had amazing hearing, he'd give her that and he normally would've refused an offer of food since he hated to be a burden but the grumbling of his stomach got the best of him. He hadn't eaten in days now and it surely was slowing him down. Food was always a good fuel but he honestly just wanted to gain her trust. Who knows, maybe she would like to travel with him? Traveling in packs was always better than isolation.

Kai usually wasn't the kind on insisting he'd travel with others since he was so used to the loneliness of traveling alone, but he felt like it could be much safer and efficient for what he was seeking out. Besides, she was already offering him her hand. Kai looked down at her hand and thought on whether it was a good idea to risk his life by traveling with her. She didn't look as weak as she had seemed earlier so he wasn't judging. Kai let out a weak grin before nodding and taking her hand.

"Lead the way." He commented as he stood.

(Hey Broken Blacklist? This could be your time to jump in:P Try stealing the deer from Erica or something xD I dunno. Just somethin' like that.)

Erica nodded slowly, beginning to walk forward. Her feet were completely silent as she padded towards the sound of the deer. The deer was stumbling even more now, and it sounded as if it were about to collapse.

As soon as the deer was in view, she slipped an arrow into the bow, and pulled the string back until it was near her ear. Once she got an accurate angle, she let go of the string, and watched the arrow fly forward. In a quick movement, the deer collapsed with the arrow directly in the middle of it's forehead. She put her bow down and a small grin appeared on her face. But it quickly vanished.

She walked over to the deer, and yanked the arrow out of it's forehead. She grabbed it's neck, looking back to Kai.

"Do you have a camp somewhere? Or do we need to make one?" She asked, her red eyes glowing brightly. She heard a noise not to far away from where they were, but she couldn't figure out what it was yet..

(Well Im out at sea...Deer would ussually stay in their crystal forest habitat wouldnt you agree?)

Iris's stomach snapped at her, signalling it was hungry. She reached into her back and pulled out a peice of raw meat, which she started to knaw away at. Eating meat raw is nto the greatest idea in the whole world, but she had no time to build a fire and to take the time to cook it, so her only option was to eat it with all its natrual fibers. Of course, the pancreas should preform in its way to suck out all the bacteria like in her anscestors days.

Iris kept trudging along the solid liquid, trying to figure out where she would end up if she kept going straight. "Lets see...I wont be in Africa, I dont think. Though anywhere in Europe is a possablility. Even may end up in Britain or Ireland." Her direction skills were awful, but it didnt help she didnt have a map. Anyways, looking for this cave is no exact location, it could be out in the middle of the ocean for all she knew.

In the distance behind Iris, was a red flying blur. The thing that seemed like a bird, flashed passed Iris, then came back only to fly around her, until he was above her,"Whooohoooo."He cried out as a small breeze brushed his hair and feathers. He came back down and landed down next to her,"Hi!How are you today, miss flat butt."He said tapping her on her butt, then slowly floated a few feet a away from her, just in case she tried to attack him.His longsword was longer than his body, but it was at an angel that it was just a few feet off the ground, and away from his feet. The sunlight gleamed off of his sword and off into different directions.

Iris stared at the young boy, her eyes full of fear and she shivered due to not trying to run away. It was litterally hurting her to not flee, but she had to get use to it if she came to the cave and there were others there. "I....I...I cant do it!" She screamed before sprinting away from him, stumbling a little bit from going to fast. Her face had blushed red and she was scared half to death, even by a small boy that seemed the least harmless thing in the world, besides her of course. "Im sorry father..." She mumbled to herself while sucking in wind to regulate her breathing, abliling her to run for a longer period of time.

"HEY!!WAIT FOR ME!!"He said with a huge smile as he flew after her, catching up up with her slowly, but surely. When he finally caught up with her,"Hey,why are you running away from me?"He wondered with a frown on his face, and since he was only ten it was still cute on him.His wings were getting tired from all that flying he did. Before meeting her,he had did a tone of flying, mostly escaping from deadly predators. At the moment he was still running form something, but was careless and did not notice the being rushing toward them.

"Go away!" She turned her head over her shoulder to look at him, but instead notice some sort fo firgure in the horizon. Her adrenlien pumped even faster and she moved her legs faster, this was presenting her muscles with a task they could handle, pushing them to their limits and now only running on her hormone. "Go away!" She cried again, mainly to the other being and not the male flying next to her. She stumbled more often now since increasing her speed, about to shut off if she didnt stop running soon.

Erica looked up when she heard a voice yelling in the distance. She didn't know if Kai could hear it or not, since it sounded pretty faded and far away.

"Can you hear that? I hear someone." She said, flashing Kai a look before spreading her long bat wings. With one large flap, she had shot into the air with the deer dangling from her hand. She looked in each direction, trying to figure out where the voice was coming from exactly.

Right as she was about to determine it's location, it suddenly stopped.

She let out a long sigh instead of getting angry about it. Gently, she floated back down next to Kai.

"Never mind.. It's gone."

She bent down and began making a fire, grabbing two rocks and clicking them together furiously. A few sparks jumped out, landing in the sticks and creating a small, but decent flame that soon grew. She grabbed some moss and stuffed it into the middle of the fire, watching it create a bigger flame.

Satisfied, she stood up from when she sat. She glanced over to Kai, and tilted her head.

"Do you have a pocket knife of some sort?" She asked in the same soft voice as usual.
