Futuristic StarQuest Main

GardenParty

sweet smelling dreams
Dakota stood in next to Ele, the leader of The SoP. Her red hair flowed freely out of her helmet, blowing in a soft, unknown breeze. A small, transparent snake circled her head, sweeping through her arms and legs. The red-head pressed a button on her spacesuit, and after a subtle beep, the helmet locks clicked. Dakota easily pulled the helmet off, closing her eyes and shaking her hair out. It all fell back into place, a little poofier than before.

The figure that stood behind the girl was much taller than her, almost reaching the low ceiling chandelier with his form. He wore a red cloak with a hood, which covered his features. However, one could make out his various eyes and diamond-shaped mouth that settled on his face. His long neck bore golden pendants and jewelry, all containing massive amounts of his obtained power. The robe fell down to his feet, but his three-fingered hands found their way through the sleeves and were resting on the glass table before the pair.

Around the table sat similar figures, all gathered for one purpose. To introduce and assemble the StarQuest squad. The team that would save the universe and bring back the peace that it had known so many years before.

A soft pink light shone through the tinted window, in which outside displayed the cold, black heart of space. Though she couldn't see it through the window, Aleteria was covered in a thin, baby pink layer that made up the protection spell. Below bustled millions of people and thousands of species, all making their lives in the safe Crystal City. From the hill that the SoP was settled on, you could make out the small shapes of hover transports and the pointed tips of the building of the city. Dakota found it truly magnificent.

Pink orbs floated near the ceiling, the main power of the spell around the planet.

Dakota looked around the room, though the windows, and thought of her father. The reason she was here. She recalled his squarish face, his thin eyes, and his curly, red locks that adorned his head. She remembered him telling her how important it was to fight for the things you believe are worth fighting for. She could imagine his crooked smile, his wicked laugh, and his clever sayings that she grew up with.

He was the reason she was here today, and that she was not some lost puppy, blindly stumbling along without its mother.

Dakota ran her fingers through her tossed hair, and brought them in front of her face. Oranga, her animi that had long accompanied her, had tangled itself between her fingers and had decided to take a nap there.

Dakota sighed, anxious to meet her team members and get their journey started. As she had been told many times, the longer they waited, the stronger Selene got.

And Dakota could not let that happen.

((Just a heads up, I changed Dakota's specialty to planet, seeing as we already had two (three?) rangers.))

Kanton set his ship- a light freighter he had affectionately named The Zephyr- down on a landing pad outside of the SoP building. After shutting down the ship's systems, Kanton exited the freighter and looked up at the building. If they've asked me to come here, the job must be pretty important, the bounty hunter thought before walking towards the entrance.

As Kanton made his way to the meeting room, he thought about the message he had received about the bounty. The target was a "moon goddess," named Selene if he remembered correctly. Kanton wasn't exactly sure how a puny mortal such as himself could gank a goddess, but he figured that would be covered in the briefing. They had also told him that he would be working with a team, which would be a nice change of pace from his loner lifestyle as of late.

Soon, the bounty hunter would find the room he was supposed to meet at, and he entered. Upon seeing the table with SoP officials around it and the red headed woman, he asked, "So, is this How To Kill A Primordial Being 101? Or did I pass it up?"

Xander reached into his pocket and pulled out a Cuban Cigar. He then pulled out a gold plated Zippo with his number engraved on it, despite being unaware of the significance of those numbers. He lit the cigar, and took a deep breath. His synthetic lungs handled the smoke just as a normal humans would, but it wouldn't screw him up. He then exhaled as he pulled the cigar out. Turning to Kanton, he chuckled, and said "I hope so. Space God's don't exactly fit my job description. Hell, I didn't even think I'd leave Massachusetts." @Galaxy's Silver Lining

K. O. I. was also standing by the table, and had remained silent throughout her time spent in the room. She merely watched the others in the room, believing to need to protect the people that occupied the area from an invisible enemy. She listened in on the conversation that had started to take place but soon butted in as it was going nowhere. "I am sure that you two will find your answer in the introduction that is to take place, so I would suggest that waiting is the correct option in this situation." Satisfied with all that she's said, K. O. I. stopped focusing on the two men and patiently waited for the meeting to begin. If those two were to be a part of StarQuest, then was not looking forward to it.

Robert took the private shuttle towards the meeting place. Normally he would be out hunting and saving desperate villages from terror and other unknown beings but this time it was different. Like waaay out of his league different. He had received a hologram from the SoP themselves requesting his help. He had turned down offers from other organizations but this was different. They do not just call any john to helo them. They call the elite, the best among the best. And if he was called by them, then his name has crossed on their desk. He finished up what he was doing in a small town of Fishers, taking down a notorious clan of raiders, and took to the skies. He had given up on his old life but since the job was only a few miles away, he took it. He had left the pub to a close friend to take care of it while he was gone.

The shuttle landed on the SoP landing pad and he exited, making sure his assault and sniper rifles were on his back on a makeshift weapon carrier. He made his way to the meeting room and stood outside the door, nervous. He never was a fan of meeting up with strangers but he had to swallow his fear. He counted to three and entered the room.

He took a seat next to a red hair woman with a snake as a pet? Okay now he started to fear for his life. Supposedly the snake decided its caregiver did not like strangers and decided to strike? He took a deep breath and looked at the woman.

"Hello, my name is Robert. What did i miss? I was on a small mission when i was called." he managed to say to the woman still eyeing the snake.

Dakota observed the four other people gathered in the room. Four people. Against a goddess. They would have to become one if they ever had even the slightest chance of success. Dakota didn't outwardly display this emotion, but Oranga twitched a little at looked worriedly at his companion, feeling her anxiety.

Dakota looked over at the person who sat next to her. Assuming from the profiles she gathered, this was Robert, and her assumption was reinforced when he introduced himself as such. She nodded towards him, only wanting to introduce and explain herself once, and that was to the whole group.

The redhead scanned the room once more, observing the people and their pink-washed faces. They looked like a hardy bunch. The SoP trusted them, one their capabilities, so Dakota would have to put her trust in the council. This ragtag team would be the saviors of the galaxy.

She cleared her throat and began her speech. The few conversations that were going on in the room were silenced, all eyes on Dakota. Her aura sent chills up the council'a spine. They knew how powerful she was, and just how capable she was of leading a team as elite as this. The trusted Dakota with their lives.

"I am Dakota Whilm of A-72X. Everyone in this room has been effected by the monster we call Selene, the current ruler of the Galaxy. She has brought death, despair, and loneliness to the galaxies."

She took a deep breath, pushing back the tears forming in her eyes as she remembered the pained look on her dad's face. She watched collective nods from the council members, as they remembered why they were here.

"You have been called here because of your capabilities. Each one of you has a specialty that hides within you. The Society of Protection has exploited that, and you are now enhanced in those ways."

She pointed to the three men in the room, all with sharp eyes and rough hands.

"Kanton, Xander, and Robert. You have all lived lives of undercover jobs and different sorts of heroics. You have been given the specialty of the ranger. With this, your vision and speed has been enhanced above normal capabilities. You each have your weapons, changed and fitted to your liking. Welcome to StarQuest."

She then turned to the cyborg, the only one of her kind in the room. "K.O.I. You have lived a life of change and pain. You have been fitted into your death-escaping form and have survived for years like so. With your robotic strength and intelligence, you have been given the Melee speciality. With this, you will be stronger than average, and will be the brute force of this team. I welcome you to StarQuest."

She gave a grim look to everyone, and though she was pleased with the results of this calling, she didn't show it.

Dakota began again. "Again, I am Dakota Whilm, the leader of this team. I have been given the power to control the climates of planets, exploiting them and knowing where we are."

"StarQuest is not for the weak of heart. If you plan to leave, we will accept that fact and withdraw your powers. However, we need your help. It is up to you to save the galaxy. Do you accept the invitation?"

Dakota stared into the eyes of everyone in the room, waiting for their responses.

Robert stood as soon as he heard his name being mentioned. He looked and saw that there were two other people who they are the same class as he was. Rangers. Specialists in almost everything. He had a thing for both close combat and long range fighting. His trusted weapons have never let him down and he loved them.

As soon as Dakota finished her speech, he bowed his head in respect and spoke, "I accept your generous invitation. Your enemy is my enemy. My weapons are your weapons. I shall protect you and be by your side. If we are walking towards hell, i shall gladly open the gates for you."

Immediately after saying those words he felt a surge of power rushing through his body. His muscles became light and he could feel his nervous system adjusting to the new instructions. His eyes twitched and hurt. He closed them for a minute and when he opened them, he could see an ant walk across the room, which was over 700 yards away, and in high definition. His eyesight had drastically increased. He did not see the need of having sights on his weapons but he was yet to test his new visual acuity after the meeting was over.

After his body had adjusted accordingly, he bowed again to Dakota. "Thank you for the invitation. I shall not let you down and we shall bring the goddess to her knees. This I vow." He looked up and stared at her dead on as he awaited further instructions.

@Galaxy's Silver Lining

He Walked in the room as the speech began. He stood Near the back off the room looking over everyone, As he was listening to her speech he wondered why he hasnt been noticed yet. Nearing the end of her speech he almost interupted, but decided to stay quiet and let her finish.

He watched as one of them accepted the offer. He decided to speak out. "Well, Escuse me Miss Dakota." He stopped leaning on his staff. "I'm not to sure if you noticed me or not, or if im a bit late, I have been lost in a desert for about a week now, and ive been informed about this 'StarQuest' by the SoP And i was wondering if i was in the right place, considering that my name was never called." He looked at her waiting for a response.
