CHARACTER SHEET

Greetings! By executive order of the Mech Council, you are required to submit your personal information so that we may update our records. We assure you that your information is confidential and will not be used against you in times of criminal judgement. Complete the following form and send it ASAP via the Mail Ship.

Note - Anything bold and in red is OPTIONAL
Name
Gender
Age (18+)

Ethnicity - Purely to have a sense of how your OC's voice sounds (British, Scotish, etc)
Appearance
Body Alterations (Brandings, Piercings, Peg Leg, etc)

Assigned Ship - Gear Grinder (dont change this)
Ship Captain - Calista Mintz (dont change this either)
Ship Role - (your role among the ship)

In Guns of Icarus, there isnt really a "Captain" role. Instead, the captain doubles as the pilot. Thats my character, for obvious reasons.

Because there will be an exploration element in this RP, we could use roles such as Quartermasters and Cooks, anything that can be found on a long term exploration ship. If you need help with thinking of a role, PM me and we can talk about some things.

Of course, since this is Guns of Icarus inspired, we need at least Engineers and Gunners. There can be more than one of any role, but be conscious of how many we have when you make your character. Its pretty much first come first serve

Equipment and Weaponry
Keep the equipment you have relevant to the role you play. Thats all I ask.
Weaponry, I'm slightly more lenient to, but again, keep it reasonable.

Personality
Bio

The only things I'm really looking for in the bio is why your character

A) Joined the Mechanists Fighting Force ("Military", if you want)
B) Practiced in the role of your choice

More detail is always appreciated ^^

Calista Mintz

  • Name - Calista Mintz
    Gender - Female
    Age - 21
    Ethnicity - English

    Body Alterations
    b063a24d454411a1a762635cc5d4133e.jpg
    Assigned Ship - Gear Grinder
    Ship Role - Pilot/Captain

Personality - The way Calista sees herself, she's cheerful and eccentric. She loves a good challenge and doesnt back off easily and she's always looking out for others. On the other hand, other members of the Mechanist see her as a daredevil. She's always reckless and putting and the lives of her crew in danger one way or another. However, Calista always refutes by saying "If my crew knew I was such a danger, why did they join me in the first place?"

Bio - Calista was born well after the famed Split, what the older generations called the event that caused the factions to form in the first place. Born an only child, she spent most of her childhood with her parents. Both her parents were proud loyalists to the Mechanists. Her father served as an airman on board one of the many ships in the fleet while her mother served on the ground as the head of one of the many repair outposts placed around Mechanist territory. Their passion for what they thought was right rubbed off on Calista. Personally, Calista wanted to fly her own airship. The first chance she got, she registered herself to serve the faction just like her parents. She first started off as an assistant to her mother, keeping track of what ships came in and kept inventory of all the spare parts being used. To Calista, however, that wasnt enough. She wanted more. Her lust for adventure drove her to join her father on his ship for a job. It was only supposed to be an exploration job but the ship Calista was on wound up in an air battle with a neighboring faction. Though, this didnt deter Calista away from the airship life. The thrill of battle and the sense of freedom only made her want to become a pilot more.

It was at the age of 19 that the accident happened. Her father was gone for an overnight scout while Calista and her mom were back in home territory. The morning that followed, Calista waited on the balcony of the repair outpost for her father's ship to return. The ship indeed returned, however the crew was missing 4 people, one of which was her father. Upon reading his death wish, he had stated that if he were to die, Calista was next in line to pilot his ship, the Gear Grinder. Despite the many conflicts about whether or not Calista was of age enough or even capable, a Mechanist Death Wish was one of high honor. So, Calista was placed as the pilot and thus, the captain of her father's ship. The old crew that was under her father remained with Calista for a couple of years, but then retired shortly after, spreading rumors of how mentally insane she was, daring to do the impossible. Though, this didnt prevent Calista from getting a new crew of her own. Ever since, Calista has taken up the impossible jobs, making a name for the already famed Gear Grinder. She's the current record holder for the youngest pilot within the fleet and thats a title she's incredibly proud of.

"If I knew wot kinda lassy da cap'n really was, I would 'ave jumped ship a long time ago."
Name:
Douglas "Rigs" Kendrick
Gender: Male
Age: 25
Ethnicity: Welsh

Appearance:

f70e7e5889e244dc01eb6bbc4414c30d.jpg

Body Alterations: Mainly just cuts and bruises from his service, as well as a lot of soot from the engines and so on.
Assigned Ship - Gear Grinder
Ship Captain - Calista Mintz
Ship Role - Main Deck Engineer
Equipment and Weaponry:
Engineer Kit- What you expect for an engineer to have, wrenches, spanners, hammers and the like, but also some stuff like a fire extinguisher and even chemical sprays for the equipment. He even has a few tools of his own "design". Most tools can be used as a blunt weapon as well.
Revolver- Simple six shot revolver, nothing fancy, but a reliable self-defense tool.
Big Shiv- Simply put a rustic but large knife, meant for self-defense, occasionally used as a tool.
Spyglass- Standard issue, used to help with spotting when not whacking away on the engine.
Personality: Douglas is a tired, sarcastic, and crude man in ever sense of the word, acting as if he prefer not to be where he is. Some may even say he cares not for service, in fact he holds a grudge against the very fleet he serves, and really is in it for the money. He often complains and curses a lot in his situation, Douglas is especially profound when in combat. Even so, he does his job and he usually will do it quietly, mostly keeping to himself. Though, a part of him keeps to his crew, deep down he enjoys it. Family was important to him, and he knows that family could be more then just blood, and will watch out for those close to him. But don't expect him to be the cheeriest lad in the pub, though he does enjoy a pint or seven when he gets the chance. If a situation presents itself, those closet may see that he is indeed a broken man on the inside, yet he is one determine to live on. Sometimes, when he is abroad a ship simply sailing, he'll break out into a song he had learn from the many crews he had served with.
Bio: Douglas has had a history serving the Mechanist fleet when he was a lad coming to adulthood, and he's been aboard a number of ships as an engineer; being reassigned from ship to ship where ever he was needed. But he didn't start out as the ship's engineer, oh no. His humble beginnings began as a wee lad, born in one of the mining towns situated in the mountains. His family for generations had been miners, working in the cramped tunnels digging up coal for the Mechanist Empire. It was a dangerous, fifthly, and poor living, but his family got by and gave Douglas all the love they could. Fact is, Douglas was the first in his family to even received a basic education, as his parents worked hard to earn money to provide for his education.
But even so, the only opportunity he had where he was working in the mines like the rest of the town. Though because of his basic education he was allowed to work as an engineer, repairing and maintain the drilling equipment as well as any other machinery involved, such as the tow cables for the mining carts. For a time, it seemed fine, he was a young lad working in the mines, but he was no younger then the other children working in the mines, and comparatively he had a much safer job. He was able to work with his da, and that made him happy, as he looked up to both his parents. But one day, an accident occurred in the mines.
No one knows what happened, but some suspect it was the shoddy mining equipment gave in and exploded. It caused a lot of tunnels to collapse, especially those where Douglas and his da worked. They were working in separate tunnels that day, and though Douglas got out relatively unscathed, his da was not so lucky. The lower part of his body had been buried under a massive pile of rocks in area that was blocked off for any of the heavier equipment to be brought through. Douglas was able to get to his da in his final moments, and stayed with him till the end. But that wasn't the end of his troubles, he kept working in the mines to help support his ma, but a few years later she caught a disease. The family was poor enough as is, and couldn't afford a doctor. The ma took it lightly though, soothing his son and telling him it was alright. It took her a few months, but she would eventually be on her way to meet her husband.
It left Douglas alone in his life, with no real family left in town, it was perhaps the hardest few months of his life. He took to drinking to help calm his nerves, but it was only a momentary thing, eventually the grief and nightmares would only come flooding back once he sobered up. Douglas would reluctantly keep on working in the mines for a few more months, until a recruiting party for the Mechanist fleet came to town, looking for volunteers. The pay was better, and Douglas had enough experience with machinery to be effectively trained as an engineer, plus he had nothing to lose. So he signed up, was given engineer training, and assigned to his first vessel, the "Black Watch". This was a whole new world for him, instead of the cramped environment of a tunnel, he would serve aboard a ship that would bring him up to the clouds. Aboard the new ship, he and the crew set sail from his town of birth. He was about 17 when they set sail, just about to turn 18.
Ever since then, Douglas has never looked back.

I couldn't decide between these two so I figured I'd post em both and go from there.
I was going to build a gunner, given that no one else has, but I don't jack shit about weaponry and the like. But, I suppose I could be convinced if needed, but for now, here's another medic and engineer xD

ACCEPTED - Ariska

  • Ariska Molvare
    original.jpg
    Name Ariska Molvare
    Gender: Female
    Age: 22
    Ethnicity - English
    Appearance *See Picture

    Body Alterations: None

    Assigned Ship - Gear Grinder
    Ship Captain - Calista Mintz
    Ship Role - Medic
Equipment/ Weaponry: Ariska isn't much for fighting, but she's an adept young doctor. Her kit contains everything an experienced doctor/ surgen, including bandages, disenfectant and even a bone saw (on the off chance she needs to amputate a limb). If push came to shove said saw or one of her numerous scalpels could be used as a weapon, but Ariska has no combat experience or training, so odds are she'd just freeze up.

Personality: Quiet and reserved, Ariska is a rather timid young woman. She often struggles to make her voice heard, and she isn't the biggest fan out shouting. That being said, she's a determined young woman, and always puts maximum effort into whatever task she's given. Once's she's made up her mind about something you'll be hard pressed to change her mind. Loyal to a fault she'll bend over backwards in order to aid anyone in need, especially if that person is a friend.

Biography: Ariska was born to a pair of loving parents. Her mother worked as a nurse and her father was a engineer for the Mechanists Fighting Force. Ariska didn't see much of her father growing up, given more often than not he was deployed with his crew. Her mother raised her by herself for the most part, Ariska was rather young whenever her father came home, so young she has no concrete memories of him. Often times she had to bring Ariska to work with her in order to keep an eye on her. Quiet but inquisitive, Ariska was fascinated by her mother's work, and she idolized how calm her mother always remained in the face conflict.

Wishing to be more like her mother, Ariska studied medicine, and found she had a knack for the field. She wanted to help people as her mother did, but she often thought of her absent father and what had befallen him. Ariska's mother told her growing up that her father was always deployed, it wasn't until she was older, around fifteen that she learned he'd died in a firefight while deployed. Heartbroken at the news Ariska decided that when she was old enough she'd enlist, in the hopes of honoring her father's memory.
Though her mother begged her not to, once Ariska made up her mind there was no going back. As she grew older Ariska dedicated her time to her studies so could follow in her mother's footsteps.
When she turned eighteen she enlisted for the first time, and found that the life of a solider was far harder than she'd thought.
Despite her timid nature Ariska pushed through, and eventually she was assigned to the Gear Grinder and Captain Mintz's crew.

zKhJpOi.jpg
Name: Marcus Brodey (normally goes by his surname)
Gender: Male
Age: Thirty-Six
Ethnicity: Irish
Appearance: Life torn and rugged, Marcus has a rather wise look to him. Grey streaks of hair have slowly made their way through his earlier dark black hair while his facial hair has also done the same thing. His eyes are a soft dark brown and his complexion on the pinkish side.
Body Alterations: Branded with a star sign of a Leo on his neck, along with a mechanical arm on his left side.

Assigned Ship: Gear Grinder
Ship Captain: Calista Mintz Ship
Role: Quater-Master and Ships Cook

Equipment and Weaponry: Note book with a metal quill attached by a long piece of string. A gold ringed Loupe. Several cooking knives.

Personality: A stubborn man, Brodey like to be left alone when he is working. Mainly so he can concentrate and do what needs to be done properly. Although this may be the case, he is a caring man in a cold hearted way. With him finding it hard to show his true emotions he will often shrug off kindness given towards him but won't be cruel in his ways. Those closest to him, however, will know the almost father like the side of this aged gentleman. He will protect those he deems worthy, whether that costs him a limb or his life.

Bio:
Brodey has lived a life with ups and downs and side to sides. With his mother died at birth, he was brought up by a widowed and griefed man who could barely look at the son with the eyes of his lost love. Harsh treatments and little affection, Brodey grew with a cold shoulder and frosted heart. Never going to a school, he learnt everything from his father and his uncle. Even then he only learnt that of which would come from his future trade of mercenary work. Little to none of the academic knowledge by the age of twenty, he was on the road with the two elder brothers taking rogue or military contracts no matter what they were. Yet when one mission goes wrong and the two brothers are taken into prison for years to come, the young Marcus is left to fend for himself.

Often taking on the jobs that no one else wanted, he would be found scrubbing streets and cleaning shops, that was until he met one woman who began to warm his heart. They danced and laughed together while he learnt how to write, read, multiply and love. The two spent many years together even having a young child, a small fragile little star of girl they name Thyme. At the age of thirty-four now he was happy with the life he had, a wife and child waiting every day for when he got home but nothing happy ever last forever. His father and brother were released from their prison sentence and came looking for their ex-partner. Having to now abandon his loved ones Brodey signed up to the Mechanists Fighting Force hoping to escape from the two he was being hunted by.

StarryKnights StarryKnights Both of them look pretty awesome! Its really up to you who you want to play. Given how many people showed interest, I'd be ok with two medics
Then I'll play Ariska :)
Though if needed I can switch to Soma if two engineers would be more beneficial, it really doesn't matter to me.
I was going to build a gunner, but I am gun illiterate xD

"Adjusting sights! Loading shells! Fring for effect! The arschlochs will be reduced to scrap!"
Name: Otwin "Panzer" von Schönberger
Gender: Male
Age: 22
Ethnicity: German

Appearance:
coh2jp

Body Alterations: Mainly soot and burn marks, with what looks like a scar running down the right side of his cheek.
Assigned Ship - Gear Grinder
Ship Captain - Calista Mintz
Ship Role - Master Gunner

Equipment and Weaponry:
Range Finder- Used to calculate the distance between a person and his target, can also calculate wind speed and trajectory, and anything that a gunner would require to adjust the gun.
Specialist Ammunition- Special rounds that each have a unique effect, whether on the enemy or on the gun it's being fired from.
Maschinenpistole- Tech taken with him from the Corrupt, not very long ranged but spews out bullets fast when repealing boarders.
Revolver- A six shot revolver, simple yet effective.
Bayonet
- A simple stright, bladed weapon that can be attached to the end of a rifle or used in close quarters.
Crewmen's Tool- Not as advanced as the engineer's kit, but it's enough to make basic repairs, though even then it can't work nearly as fast.

Personality:
A young man, but a man of iron discipline and bravery willing to hold his post even under the thickest of fire. Fact is, Otwin got his nickname from sustaining a direct hit on his position while he was manning said weapon, when the smoke cleared he was still at his post, returning the favor. Though Otwin does not necessarily keep himself in the cleanest of fashions, he's a type of man to keep his equipment in perfect working order. Most of the time when he speaks rather professionally, though he is not above making comments. However, there's yet a side of him that curses like any soldier would, generally speaking he does so in combat. He also does not like getting annoyed or needlessly, fact is he can be really terrifying when he's pissed off. But even so, he's a loyal and selfless companion to have, despite his past, and is willing to fight to the death if it means he could protect his crew-mates.
Bio:
Otwin was born to a family of aristocrats, who stayed loyal to the Corrupt even after the split, and who also had considerable leverage in the government due to their wealth. Otwin was the fourth eldest of his siblings, secound eldest son.
Most of Otwin's family were... not exactly the greatest of characters. The father was a cold aristocrat, who's ever action was calculated to get what he wanted, every person was a pawn to him. The mother was a drunkard, forced to marry his father due to an arranged marriage. The rest of his siblings? Some of them were like his father, some of them were not like his father.
Otwin? He was a man who was not like his father, but that didn't make him any less of a pawn in his father's eyes. Being the secound eldest son, it feel to him to represent his family in the military. At a young age, his father sent him to the academies to become an officer. There, he was disciplined into the man he is today, knowledge in his field of choice, gunnery.
Otwin was originally to be an officer overseeing gunners, to be assigned in a static place where Otwin's father could monitor him. But instead, Otwin found himself upon the vessels high in the air, and thus out of the direct eyes of his father. Though he was a gunnery officer, Otwin found himself on the guns themselves, rather then just ordering men onto them, and he was quite good at it. In his time in service with the Corrupted forces, he and the crew, serving aboard the "Flying Tiger", had been known for shooting down many enemy airships. Fact was, Otwin himself had begun to garner somewhat of a reputation for himself, especially for being such a young soldier. Though it had little to do with his father's initial plan, nevertheless it was a good thing for him, as now one of his sons had more leverage. In fact, Otwin was even praised by his father, which garnered some...jealousy, who would secretly try to end his life.
But Otwin cared less of his father's praised. Although Otwin wasn't outwardly rebellious, he resented his father the most out of his siblings. He did horrible things to some of his siblings who did not bend to his will, and Otwin could do little but stand by. But it would a surprise to all when Otwin was the one to truly rebel and leave his family, in the form of defection

Yes, Otwin was part of a defection, the captain of the "Flying Tigers" himself resented the way things occured in the Corrupt, and was secretly planning a defection. Otwin did not stop them, fact was he joined them.
Otwin and his crew, along with a few other crew, flew their ships stright for the border of the Mechanicus. The crews ended up having to split up, being chased by their former colleagues. The "Flying Tigers" just made it to the border before they were shot down. Otwin and another were the only survivors, his captain on the verge of death, gave Otwin his final testimonial against the Corrupt, before telling him to go. Otwin did so, carrying his comrade, gruling marching through the lands trying to avoid his former allies. Otwin was about to give in too, when the Mechanics finally arrived...

Name: Mariko Belleanne Tsukiyomi
Gender: Female
Age: 20
Ethnicity: Half Japanese/British
Appearance:
latest

Body Alterations: She has a mark of the Gemini on her forehead. Her right hand is kept inside a metal gantlet.

Assigned Ship: Gear Grinder
Ship Captain: Calista Mintz
Ship Role: Main Deck Engineer

Equipment and Weaponry: ~Engineering Kit: As she is an engineer, Mariko carries her kit around with her aside when she's eating and sleeping, since she never knows when she'll be needed. It has generic tools in it such as wrenches, screwdrivers, hammers, etc.

~Goggles/Spyglass: Both are standard issue, and while she keeps her goggles firmly tied around her neck, her spyglass is kept tied around her waist. The goggles are to protect her eyes, while the spyglass is used to scout ahead.

~Brass Axe: It's a small axe, with bronze gears sticking out of it. It's heavy, but easy for her to swing around. This is also worn around her belt and is purely for self-defense.
other-weapons_airship-pirate-axe-latex_2238.jpg

Personality: Mariko is cheerful and helpful. Despite mainly remaining in the background, she's always ready to lend a hand and she's very vocal if something's not right with her or if she feels uncomfortable. Despite this, she's a sweet and even-tempered girl who keeps changing her future goals, even now. She's good at her job and does it well. When she's hard at work, her intelligent side comes out and sparkles in her eyes. She's not self-conscious about her appearance anymore, although any snide comments can still receive a punch from her.

Bio: She considers her early childhood to be sweet and simple. Her mother was a foreigner who worked on a ship for the Mechanics, she was an engineer and gunner both. She met her future husband on the same ship, and they married a few years later. She refused to leave the service, but was forced to when her previous captain retired. So she reluctantly settled down, taking care of her daughter who was a year old by that time. She kept hoping her daughter would follow in her footsteps and showed her all of the different jobs ships required, giving Mariko childish imitations of said jobs. However, Mariko had trouble picking just one and kept flip-flopping. One day she said she wanted to be a gunner, the next a surgeon, the next a cook, etc. It kept going like this until the day she turned twelve. Her mother told her it was time to choose a career, and Mariko naturally said the first thing that popped into her head: "An engineer, just like my mom!" Once that was decided, she got her own little workshop out back in their yard, as well as a metal gauntlet to protect her hand while she worked. Mariko was thrilled about the latter gift and never took the gauntlet off, even wearing it to school. Some of the more obnoxious kids made fun of her for it and even tried to hide the article several times, but she kept outwitting them. She kept saying it didn't matter what anyone else said about her, only her mom could truly understand her determination. She tinkered small things at first, and eventually grew more experienced and started to attend a school for engineers. She graduated with very high marks when she turned eighteen. Since she had reached adulthood, she needed a job, and her mother knew a perfect one. A new captain was found to pilot the famous Gear Grinder; a pilot only a year older than Mariko herself. The captain was looking for an engineer. At first Mariko was worried she would be declined because of her history, but realized she didn't really care and hurried off to the port, eager to meet her destiny.
