Very attractive, very single.
In the late 2050's Humanity had expended most of it's viable resource pockets scattered amongst Earth's surface, but their demands were only growing. This growing of demands caused Humanity to begin a long and bloody war for the Earth's core's resources. Deeper and deeper they dwelved, waging war amongst the man-made caverns of the underworld until the Reformed Soviet Union punctured the core by mistake during their typical dwelvings.
When the core was punctured, molten liquids and toxic gasses began to flood up the tunnel towards the surface. The wars were put aside temporarily and Humanity used the small amount of time they had to make transports for food and only 1 billion of the 10 billion inhabitants. The moon was colonized with this 1 billion, leaving the other 9 billion to perish on the now Venus-like Earth.
Gradually the political parties of old were destroyed by petty skirmishes, resulting in a meager 300,000,000 remaining population to inherit the Moon. At this point it's around 2090. A new government was formed; the Human Council. They used their new found authority and undeterred power to forcefully colonize Mars and begin the terraforming of the Moon.
The current age, 2120, leaves the Moon still unterra-formed but packed with Environmental Globes, Mars colonized sufficiently, and a military beginning to form under the Human Council to combat the pirate threats.
