Kim hated walking through snow. Not because she hated snow or even the cold air, but because she hated ice. It had snowed for three days in a row within New City. A weather change that was at first welcomed by almost everyone. The light fluffy snow was compactable and was great for making snowmen and doing other winter festivities.
The white powder turned the average walk in the city into a winter-wonderland after the first day. However the snowfall did not end, it continued to come and through one brutally cold night after another, the fantastic scenery change had now become an icy death-trap for those walking the city's streets.
Ice was hidden on the sidewalks, especially those in Kim's neighborhood. Yet the situation improved upon arriving at Red's part of town. The neighborhood streets which were filled with mansions and high fences seemed to have been cleared of any winter debris. It was why they, Kim and Xandra, arrived to Red's house so much earlier than anticipated. Knocking on the door, she made eye contact with Xandra. "So are you impressed?" she asked her friend, talking about Red's manor. .
Jennifer had returned from her trip to Italy and wanted to catch up. Apparently she had a surprised for Kim: gifts Kim could only assume. However Kim wasn't in the cheeriest of moods. Behind her somber face was a girl still upset about what happen the night of the dance.
She hadn't talked to Sam since, even as they sat next to each other in Ms. Norman's class on the last days of the semester. Really she didn't talk to anyone much about it. Most of the school was oblivious of any changes, many still thought the two of them were dating. But it wasn't a big deal, Kim was sure, she was confident she could easily move on and feel better after having a girl's hang-out with Xandra and Red.
