Myra Allen
Hufflepuff

A G E / Y E A R
18, 7th year

P E R S O N A L I T Y
Kind: Myra wears her heart on her sleeve and is unable to look the other way when she sees someone or something who needs a helping hand.
Earthy: She prefers being barefoot in the outdoors and has a great love for animals.
Curious: She loves learning about the world around her, even if it occasionally gets her into questionable situations. The Sorting Hat nearly put her into Gryffindor for the risk-taking aspect of her nature.

B A C K G R O U N D
Myra is the middle child of five. Her older two siblings are out in the world - one works for the Ministry of Magic as an Auror and the other travels the world studying experimental magic. The younger two are twins enrolled in fourth year. Myra grew up in rural Scotland and had very little exposure to the world outside of her family and small village prior to arriving at Hogwarts. She struggled to make friends at first thanks to her naive, backwoods nature, but eventually she carved out a place for herself amongst the friends she and her siblings have made. Her favorite subject is the Care of Magical Creatures and she hopes to open a sanctuary for endangered magical creatures someday.

Marcelo Gaunt
Slytherin

A G E / Y E A R
17, 6th year

P E R S O N A L I T Y
Wary: Marcelo likes his privacy and is slow to trust others. He assumes everyone has an ulterior motive.
Loyal: Once someone manages to crack through his icy exterior, they will find a friend who will go to the ends of the earth to protect them, no matter the cost to himself. He is fiercely territorial over his friends.
Sardonic: Marcelo has a dry, sarcastic sense of humor. It is rare to see a genuine smile from him.

B A C K G R O U N D
Marcelo knows next to nothing about the Sacred Twenty-Eight despite being born to the House of Gaunt. He is the grandson of Morfin Gaunt, who was the brother of Merope Gaunt and uncle of Tom M. Riddle. His mother, however, is a Spanish woman that his father met while traveling abroad after graduation. She gave him his father's last name as an act of spite, truth be told, but she kept the truth of his heritage on his father’s side from him until he started school at Durmstrang, and even then he only found out because an older classmate told him. He feels he needs to better understand his origins and requested to transfer to Hogwarts. His favorite subject is Astronomy, if for no other reason than the stars don’t care who he’s related to. He hopes to meet his father soon, if he's even still alive.

Gellert Grindelwald
Gryffindor

Age and year:
Seventeen years old physically; seventh year.

***

Personality:

Gellert is a very complicated creature. Volatile, prone to mood swings, sometimes going from pleased and satisfied to feeling hurt, insulted, and bitter - and then back - within moments. Of course he doesn't show it easily; above everything else, he knows how important the right kind of image is, how to wear a mask for the world, how to control yourself in public... But nobody can do that all the time.

Still, he actually has quite a lot of great traits - even if they are balanced out by just as many terrible ones, like possessiveness, jealousy, and a certain sort of recklessness. He's definitely hard-working, for example, and well-read, and so very quick - among other things... But there is something else that people generally notice about him first.

His greatest trait is that natural charisma he has - composed of a whole array of different factors. There is of course the fact that he is simply handsome... And he knows it. Physical attractiveness - no matter what people say - always matters a lot for first impressions, adding one's personal feelings to their more conscious assessment ... And yet that's just the beginning in Gellert's case.

He has a magnetic personality. He can be disarmingly charming, he knows how to appeal to people, how to express that he cares about them - and it definitely helps that he's good at reading them in the first place. He's truly and deeply passionate about the things he aims towards, he's not in it just for his own gain - but because he wants to change the world for the better for everyone... The way he sees it, at least...

And he sincerely believes. In being right, in succeeding, in everything he preaches. When he speaks, it's with the confidence and certainty that men of faith wish they could have, the kind capable of moving mountains and turning rivers back in their beds. That is why so many people listen - because he can make them believe, too, and he doesn't even need magic to achieve that.

He values loyalty - and not only when it's to him, though that certainly helps. He can appreciate the strength of character that it takes to remain loyal to someone, even when he sees it as a mistake in that particular case. Of course it doesn't stop him from going against that person if he has to - but he does still respect them at the same time.

When someone betrays him, it's the end. They're dead to him. A miracle would have to happen for him to accept them back - or just forgive them... And even then, he could never forget about their crime. Gellert himself, on the other hand... That's more complicated. He stays loyal to those that remain by his side - as long as he possibly can, at least. He doesn't enjoy sacrificing his people in any way - if they are truly his, that is. At the same time, he understands that it is sometimes necessary; wars are wars, after all... And - in the end - it's the general, the king, that needs to survive.

He also quite enjoys confrontations - and is often the one to cause them, especially when he decides that doing so is the more advantageous option for him to choose. Oh, he can be subtle, too, he can wait and strike when it's unexpected - but sometimes a show is needed instead, and he understands that well... He's good at giving people a show.

When he finds someone actually smart, though, or at least a person whose reactions he likes provoking - that is when he'll argue just for the sake of arguing. He'll play the devil's advocate for fun - even with topics he doesn't care about - and he'll simply consider it debating.

Gellert rarely allows himself to feel sad, though - mostly because he doesn't really know how to deal with that, but also because he sees it as something far beneath him. Oh, he does experience it, of course, but he prefers to focus on anger instead - yes, anger is good, anger pushes him to do more, it can be used to fuel his ideas and to excuse the things he does... In his own eyes, at least. Sadness... Sadness means that something can truly touch him. And he's supposed to be untouchable.

Sadness doesn't even usually register for him as it does for most people. Gellert's vaguely aware that he doesn't often feel things the same way others do; he can read them easily, their emotions and the reasons behind them, but he has trouble comparing his own feelings to that. He considers himself rather numb, sometimes he even worries about it... But that's not entirely true, either. In fact, he does feel, and deeply, he's just so out of touch with his own emotions that he has trouble figuring some of them out - or noticing them. To be fair, though, his mind is often too full, his thoughts too quick - so perhaps it's not that surprising.

***

Background:

Born in the summer of 1882 in Vienna, Austria, Gellert had a good start in life... At least when it came to the financial and social situation of his family. His parents weren't the most loving people, admittedly, but they did take care of their only child - and they certainly liked to brag about his accomplishments and talents, especially once he started attending Durmstrang.

At a very young age, he began to have visions and dreams of the future - some of them completely irrelevant, some terrifying... And some inspiring. He didn't understand them all as a little child, obviously, but as he grew, the information became precious... Invaluable, even. A terrible war was coming, he knew - but also glory, and power, and success. The Deathly Hallows - and a noble quest to liberate the wizardkind.

He had a great mind, a huge talent, so much raw magic - nobody could deny that. Durmstrang announced him its best student. The classes quickly became too easy and boring, and Gellert was entirely convinced that he knew more than his teachers. His own private research took him further than the school itself ever could... Though some of it perhaps went a bit beyond morally grey.

And then he was caught. It took quite a while, actually; his visions, Occlumency and just good, old acting skills protected him well enough - until they didn't. An expulsion followed, though he left the school a gift - a mark of the Deathly Hallows, now his own personal symbol, really... One that they would not be able to remove.

His parents were not happy. In fact, they pretty much disowned him for the disgrace that was not getting away with it... But thankfully there was one family member that still believed in him and wanted to help: his great-aunt Bathilda Bagshot, a famous historian. She invited him to spend the summer at her house in Godric's Hollow... And it was perfect - because his research on the topic of the Hallows was pointing in that direction anyway.

It was there that he met and quickly befriended Albus Dumbledore, his aunt's neighbour. That was also the first time Gellert actually found himself interested in another human being as a person... His one and only equal. The two almost immediately fell in love and stayed in each other's company as much as they could, going so far as to even create a blood troth... Gellert's idea, of course. Blood magic had always fascinated him.

A lot more happened that summer and afterwards - but... This Gellert technically doesn't remember it. He didn't live through it - because another important ritual got performed back then, one that created a fail-safe in case his plans went wrong in the future. An enchanted photograph...

... That triggered this year - but something went wrong with it, and Gellert ended up being the only one that got released from it, a real, living, breathing memory of that time. One capable of changing in most ways, mentally, emotionally, magically - but physically frozen in time.

Of course his return, once the news got out, caused quite a commotion - with most people terrified, but some quietly hopeful. He was placed in Nurmengard at first, but Albus Dumbledore of this time managed to argue in his favour - proving that this Grindelwald had technically not committed any crimes yet, and offering to take him under his care for the time being. In the end, it was perhaps his potential usefulness that tipped the scales instead... But at least he was relatively free.

And very, very angry.

He was brought to Hogwarts at that point, to take some tests to establish his level of education and to be sorted into a House. The former was, of course, a formality; the latter... A surprise to many. How could he be placed anywhere other than in Slytherin, after all? The House had a certain reputation... But instead the Hat - after quite a while of thinking - got stuck between Slytherin and Gryffindor... And, well, Gellert had always liked to go against expectations, so he picked the latter.

Now he's supposed to stay in the castle for one year, finish his education, and play nice... Which he may or may not do. He has a list of priorities and goals, and those include finding a way to get his Albus out of that photograph, too.

***

Appearance:

Six feet tall, slender - perhaps even a bit too slender, though he does have some lean muscles as well. His skin is pale and he has a hard time getting tanned... Not that he really tries to. Between all of his sharp features, high cheekbones, straight nose, big blue eyes, and slightly wavy blond hair on the longer side, he truly looks rather charming and even innocent - angelic, some might say.

For a better visualisation - take a look at his canon actor, Jamie Campbell Bower.

Brian McKinzie

A G E / Y E A R

40/Defense Teacher

P E R S O N A L I T Y

Tough but fair this man is the leader of a clan; he must make tough decisions that affects the whole of the remainder of his family. He deals with sorrow silently holding a strong face for the family when his two sons and wife died. Brian does not take shit from no one and will stand up for himself and his family showing a strong unity. He was a Gryffindor growing up and had been similar to his own son though his temper never got away with him, some of his son’s spark came from Jamie’s mother.

B A C K G R O U N D

His marriage with his late wife Ellanor was an elopement which upset both heads of their families. However, as she bore 4 children with magical talent, and she stood strong beside him till the very end. Brian’s younger brother’s had families of their own but the second eldest Duncan often made attempt to take his position as head of the clan, especially when His wife and youngest son died of Dragon pox.

Out side of his family duties Brian works as a freelance Curse breaker and had been working as locally as possible when his wife died. Brian loves his children dearly and does his best to keep time for them specially. His family gatherings were always one of the largest events in Scottland even with the squib/muggle side intermingling during the non-magical events. He does his best to keep the peace between the more uppity side of the family from bullying the Squibb and Muggle portion of the family.

Though their family is pure, any family is treasured and this makes him one of the best heads of the family according to may members. His brother Duncan however is more of a purist and often is the cause of trouble among the ranks. After his wife’s death the Beauchamp’s (his wife’s family) did their best to keep in touch with his daughter and wanted her to attended Beauxbatons and are willing to provide the money to send her there as their Heir. The war against Grindelwald caused the family to take on harsh casualties and they were a Matriarchy not a Patriarchy like the Mackenzie.

When offered the position for the defense against the dark arts at Hogwarts Brian made it his goal to figure out the curse placed on the position and only took a one-year contract. Brian also made it his goal to keep his own son inline as he knew of the trouble James was getting into with the Slytherin head of house.

James McKinzie {Jamie}

Gryffindor

A G E / Y E A R

16/ 6th year

P E R S O N A L I T Y

Jamie is a natural-born leader, able to navigate most social situations with ease. True to his sign, Jamie is extremely stubborn, much like the McKinzie’s who came before him. He is also fiercely loyal and will protect his family and loved ones at all costs, even if it means making sacrifices for himself.

Amiable, intelligent, and stubborn. Jamie’s sense of duty and honor is strong, and he has never backed down from a fight or refused to do something he thought was his responsibility. When unchallenged, though, he has a good sense of humor and social awareness.

B A C K G R O U N D

James was born the second eldest son to the head of the MacKinzie clan [favoring clan over family due to Scottish backgrounds], his elder brother died in an accident and his younger brother died along side their mother from dragon pox leaving himself, his father and younger sister to lead the clan. Ever since the first and second world wars their family number had dwindled and the war against Voldemort cut them down to a few cousin families and the main line.

Jamie before Hogwarts went to a local magical school run by the mothers who stayed home and he helped on the farm stead with his uncles when he had the time. He absorbed all information that was taught to him. He favored languages and ancient runes over most subjects. When he got his Hogwarts letter, he worked his hardest to stay at the top of the classes in his favored areas though struggles with Potions due to his hot-headed temper and never willing to backdown against Professor Snape.

One of the reasons why his father joined the Teaching faculty of Hogwarts was to keep him in line and out of the Ire of Professor Snape. This year he’s to be on his best behavior due to the amnesty between him and the Slytherin head of house. Another reason is that his younger sister was starting school that year but was being sent to Beauxbatons on a familial scholarship through their mother’s side.

Lykanne Redfoot [Rachel Roy]
Anne, Red {nicknames}
[the name is a mix of Lykan and Anne, said Lie-can]
Slytherin

A G E / Y E A R

17, 6th year

P E R S O N A L I T Y

Lykanne is a temperamental person, rough around the edges and has a harder time becoming friends with new people. Generally, she tries to keep people at arms distance having been hurt in the past by family. She’s Loyal and protective when she does get a friend worth her time never wanting to let them go. She can be harsh but it’s a wall. Underneath her walls built out of fear and hurt she’s a loving and protective person who isn’t one to go out of their way to hurt someone. She’s always looking out for herself and plans accordingly.

B A C K G R O U N D

At the age of 10 Rachel was bit by what she thought was a rabid wolf, but instead of taking her to the hospital her elder brother who is her only family at the time locked her up in a caged off area in his dog kennels. He was an animal control who ran an adoption service. For some reason he felt the need to lock her away instead of getting her help.

Rachel hadn’t much had any bouts of accidental magic. She was feverish in the kennels and begged her brother to let her free. She screamed for someone to save her but no one came. One night she had a fever dream about a red wolf and she asked it to help free her. This was the night of the full moon and where she had her first transformation into a werewolf. As a Werewolf she was able to rip out of the kennels and flee into the forests near the property. From that night on she got close to her inner wolf seeing it as her only companion. Due to her bond with the inner wolf, she had more control on the full moons vs most young werewolves, this control only having been seen by Greyback and those on wolfsbane potion. Rachel changed her name to best fit her new life, though she’d never run into any other wolfs in the area. As Lykanne she felt free and eventually learned how to become a wolf when it wasn’t a full moon.

Starting school at Hogwarts she had been living in an abandoned shack in the middle of the woods and had been greeted by one of the professors. She even shared with the professor her talents as an Animagus due to her connection to the wolf and it being easier to hunt and eat as a beast than as a 10/11-year-old girl on the streets. The professor that introduced her to the world of magic retired and often came to look in on her over the summers as they often worried for the young girl and became their magical guardian.

Her first year at Hogwarts she took the required potion and had gone to the shrieking shack but in the end, she didn’t like how the potion disconnected her from her wolf and eventually pretended to take the potion in the later years.

Serina Bolas
A prior Member of the Hufflepuff House

A G E / T E A C H I N G
28/ CHARMS

P E R S O N A L I T Y
Serina isn't what you'd call a normal Hufflepuff at least on the surface. She come off as apathetic, and passive. A normal Hufflepuff is a bright and cheery person and in most cases the oddball house. People full of Justice, Loyalty, Patience, and a love of hard work.

Three of these beliefs are far from Serina's typical attitude. The only one that seems to be conclusive is Patience. If house points were awarded for patience Hufflepuff would be swimming in them every year because of her.

With patience comes a level head and quiet temperament. Sadly this level of calm even in dire situations has caused quite a few misunderstandings and made it seem like she doesn't care when that isn't true.

B A C K G R O U N D
The Bolas family, they are a lesser known family in the realm of magic primarily because of their roots being in America. After a large number of emotional magical incidents involving Serina's magic the family had to move from the America's to Britain. It was just small happenings at first, things suddenly levitating. Then it was objects going missing, all the way to flowers blooming in winter. Serina's grandmother was supposively the same. All of that lead to them moving to a small place south of London. Eventually, and to her parents delight her emotional episodes became far more controlled as she grew up. This however was due to their daughter dawning a mask of apathy and refusing to allow her emotions guide her decisions or actions. When she recieved her Hogwarts letter her parents were exstatic and got her everything she'd need to attend. She coasted along in the house she expected to be the least troublesome to live in. The bonus perk was it's location close to the kitchen. After her seven years and even her participation in and victory in the Tri-Wizard tournament. After some persuasion on the headmaster's part she returned to Hogwarts when she was 26 as the Charms teacher. She's now taking up her second year as the Charms Professor and takes her job seriously even if she isn't exactly a fan of hard work... or grading tests.
