Simone Stardrinker

Age: 39

Height: 6' 3"

Gender: Male

Element of Dragon's Blood: Fire

Role in RP: Mentor

Background:

Born into a modest and humble suburban family, Simone led a charming and mostly problem free life. Fit with a loving family who worked hard to provide for their child, the boy found that he could count himself as one of the luckier folk of the world. Although Simone found his parents to be quite reclusive and sometimes needlessly secretive, the young child paid no mind to their antisocial behavior as this was simply the way things were for him. Simone also found that he took on none of these traits and was instead an incredibly social child. During the early years of life Simone found it easy to make friends, and although academics were sometimes a challenge for him, he still managed to get by with decent grades and have the time to partake in school sports.

As Simone grew up and he came into the age of young adulthood, both his mother and father saw that as their child’s understanding of the world grew, so did the threat of him uncovering what he truly was. Though they had tried to keep it a secret from their precious child to spare him of the horrors that followed their kind, they soon realized that leaving Simone in the dark was more dangerous. No longer could they hide the truth about Luminos or the Bloods from their son, and so they finally told him everything.

By the age of fifteen Simone had long since thrown his parents cautionary tale of Luminos to the wind, deciding instead to live frivolously and ignore their fair warning. Luminos couldn’t really be as bad as they said right? A mysterious and ghostly organization such as Luminos couldn't actually be allowed to exist, could they? It made no sense to the boy, and so he instead passed the stories off as nothing more than a retelling of the boogeyman, a simple scare tactic to keep young bloods on their toes. But as he would soon discover this was not the case at all, and the dangers of Luminos, unlike the boogeyman, were very real.

It happened one winter evening on Simone's way home from school. The day had been somewhat of an average one, save for the beautiful snow storm that had begun to blow through town. Small flurries of snow flakes danced all around Simone as he wandered down the lone sidewalk, slowly making his way back to his homestead. However, on his journey home while passing a bus stop he noticed a man whom he had never seen before. He was sweating profusely despite the cold weather but Simone paid no mind to it as he was lost in his own admiration of the snow fall. He continued his walk, watching the dancing flakes, but was snapped out of his own thoughts and stopped in his tracks by the sound of a pained shout. Eyes wide, Simone turned on his heels just in time to catch the sight of a hooded figure who had not been there only a moment ago. He stood with his face obscured, but the malice the man exuded was tangible in the winter air. A single hand the size of Simone's head was pointed at the man in the bus stop. A pulsating beam of light cut it's way from the hooded figures hand and into the mans chest. He squirmed and cried out in pain, his muscles twisting in agony, before finally falling still. It took sometime before what Simone had witnessed could properly register in his mind and during that fuzzy state in between unknowing and realization, the hooded figure disappeared, the only thing visible to Simone being his sinister smile.

After his first incident with Luminos, Simone made sure to take more caution with his heritage, and managed to go most of his life without incident. For a while it felt as if Simone was trying to reject his own blood line in an attempt to save himself from the same fate that the man in the bus stop had suffered. It wasn't until after High School Simone realized that he had to take charge of the dragon blood coursing through his veins. So, in an effort to understand himself better, Simone went out in search of the Dragon Blood Society; an organization his parents frequently referred to fondly. Simone hoped that if he could surround himself with others like him and train with them, he would better understand his own powers and become stronger.

After finally finding the secret society and expressing his want to learn to the Oracle, he was quickly paired with a mentor, Anya Morrowwing. Anya was a dashing young lady who was as beautiful as she was strong, which is to say exceedingly so. When mentoring began, Anya did not hesitate to get right into the training, something that Simone did not mind in the least. The two spent most of the day together, both the training and studying tending to last long into the night. Often times both mentor and student would spend a full day sparring in the intense heat of a controlled fire, the scorching embers burning at Simone's skin until he was able to build up his fire resistance.

One of the more notable subjects of Simone's studying were the different fighting styles used all around the world. But as much as he looked into these varying techniques, he could never find anything on the style Anya used against him when they sparred. After confronting her about this, Anya explained that this was a style used exclusively by the Morrowwing family and their successors. The technique used had been refined over generations and constantly evolved, making each fighters rendition of the style unique to some degree. Immediately wanting to learn the Morrowwing fighting technique, and expressing this to Anya, Simone was promised a thorough lesson and training if he could beat her using a more widely known fighting style. Up to the challenge, Simone began his studying and training, and each day he sparred with Anya, he found himself taking up the defensive, trying his best to analyze her movements each session so he could plan properly for his challenge. Eventually, after a years worth of training and practice, Simone was able to break through Anya's defense and landed a knock out punch that left a resounding crack echoing throughout the scorched valley they trained in. At the time, Simone had been so excited it took a couple minutes before he remembered that he had to take Anya to a healer. So, with the girl on his back and a grin on his face, he took the path leading from whence they came; the Dragon Blood Society headquarters. It was strange to Simone to be walking down this path with only minimal damage having been sustained. Usually when he was forced to walk back to HQ, one of his appendages was broken and he was leaned up against the woman he now carried on his back. It was a nice carrying the significantly smaller girl for once instead of the other way around.

After Anya finally awoke from her knock out, she had nothing but a smile on her face and praises to sing to Simone. Feeling the her student was finally ready, Anya began to teach young man her families fighting technique. The lessons were harsh and like nothing Simone had experienced before, but his intrigue quickly overshadowed any physical strain that was put on his body. The style itself was very unique in the way that the user held their own stature, and it took a long time to adjust, but Simone's dedication and passion didn't allow for him to give up.

As weeks turned to months and months turned to years, Simone's powers grew. But unexpected to the young man, so did his feelings for his mentor. At first Simone denied his own feelings for his long time teacher, knowing that their relationship had been purely professional and that it should stay that way, but his heart had other plans in mind, and eventually Simone could not deny his affections any longer. Upon realizing his love for the girl, Simone confessed to her that he was hopelessly bewitched by her charm and overpowering strength, something that he had first thought to be nothing more than admiration but something he now realized to be deep and passionate love. During his confession, Anya was admittedly a little taken aback, but she too felt that they had a strong connection and refused to deny it any longer. Later the two were wed, and stayed happily so for a year. But as fate would have it, Simone was not destined to have the perfect life he thought he had finally achieved.

During one of  their nightly walks down the beach, the two stumbled across a frantic young girl running down the shoreline. In a panic she ran up to the couple, begging to be helped as she pointed to the treeline cropping the sandy beach. Anya kept her gaze down towards the girl, trying to calm the young one in hopes to better understand her. Simone on the other hand followed the little girls gesturing hand to the trees where he just managed to catch a sight of two hooded figures emerging from the foliage. Before he could even react, the two pointed with their fingers, sending beams of light into the group of Simone, Anya and the small child who's name was never even learned.

One of the beams struck the girl, instantly killing her, while the second one struck Anya. Simone's wife fell to the sand, racked with pain and finding herself unable to breath properly. Caught in a state of shock, Simone didn't even have a moment to react to this tragedy before he too was struck with Luminos's signature light magic. Dropping to his knees, Simone roared out in agony, every inch of his being burning with intense pain. Turning his head to the side, Simone tried to gauge how well his wife was fairing. At the time she seemed to be recovering, but as their eyes met, a beam of pulsating light (not unlike the one he had seen many years ago) slammed into Anya. A scream cut through the night sky followed by a deafening silence that shook Simone to the core.

Simone simply starred at Anya's corpse for what seemed like an eternity, his steely blue eyes taking in every detail of his wife. The light had left her eyes, and yet here he was, thinking there was a chance she could still make it. She wouldn't.

It was then that Simone broke. Like the roaring of a devastating forest fire, Simone's rage and sorrow ate away at his insides as if they were fuel for the flames. Never had he felt such grief or anguish, never before had he felt so alone. The love of his life was gone? Just like that? And what could he do? Nothing. He could do nothing. It seemed ridiculous to him that such a thing could happen as quickly as it did, but here he was, starring at his wife's cadaver. What happened next is a blur of color and blood in Simone's mind, but undoubtedly Simone murdered the Luminos agents who had so wrongly killed his wife, leaving their corpses on the beach, torn asunder and alight with fire.

After murdering the first two members of Luminos, Simone fell into some terrible state of addiction. Though his addiction wasn't any sort of drug, but rather the blood of Luminos. He both simultaneously hunted and ran from Luminos, trying his best to make them feel the pain he they brought upon him. But no matter how much he killed it was never enough, and after a month, the sorrow became too much for him to bear. So, in an attempt to hide away from his own pain, Simone fled into a small country town under the guise of Howie Shaw. From there he took up trade as a carpenter and craftsman, building himself a house on the outskirts of town and gaining an astounding reputation with the locals despite being an inconsolable drunk. Simone, or shall I say Howie, never cared to build a relationship with those he worked for, preferring to keep things purely platonic as to spare them from his own grief. After two years of drunken living, Luminos finally caught up to Simone. A group of those who hunted him scoured the town and yet, by the graces of god, Simone was able to just barely escape their detection.

Realizing that Luminos would never leave him alone unless he cut off all ties from modern society, Simone went the farthest he could manage from the world he once new. After another year of aimless drunken wandering Simone found himself in the heart of a volcanic system. Here he meditated in the primordial birth place of both fire and flame, finding peace with the world in it's molten flow. It wasn't until several months ago did Simone receive a message from the Oracle asking him to come back to the Dragon Blood Society, and after weeks of reflecting on the proposal, Simone has accepted.

Personality:

Simone is a shell of his former self. In the past he had been known as a happy go lucky fellow, someone who was good natured and vary "salt of the earth" as they say. His smile would warm any room he walked into, his constant joking and playful gesticulations painting him as an energetic and genuinely happy individual. But not anymore. The unkempt beard, the dark circles under his eyes and the flask at his lips are all dead give aways to the person he has now become. Staying mostly silent, unless to hurl biting insults, it's hard to read Simone's emotions, but be in his company long enough and you'll start to see the nihilistic thoughts he buries underneath his stoic drunkenness. But all the depression, all the absolute hopelessness he expresses, is only to spare others from the passionate rage kept chained away in his heart. Should you ever find yourself in a fight with Simone, just know you run the risk of releasing that rage, and the man you see before you will become a heart broken demon, hell bent on destroying all that's in his path.

Fighting Technique: The Morrowwing fighting style is used by the Morrowwing family (which have all died out) and their successors (also all dead, save for Simone). The beauty of the Morrowwing technique is that it does not matter if you're opponent is in a higher weight class than you. When fighting, the user relies on their opponents own momentum and strength and uses it against them. The user, if using the technique correctly, can easily throw their targets off balance or toss them using the weight put behind the attack plus their own natural strength. From here, the Morrowwing fighter can move in to dish out a flurry of damaging blows and hopefully put down their enemy. If caught at a distance, the user should be able to use their natural speed and magical abilities to close the distance, before engaging in hand to hand combat. This, however, is simply the basic theory behind the Morrowwing technique. This can and should be adapted too by the specific user so they may add their own personal flare.
