That bastard, Ryosei Shinobu, thinks just because he has friends that can pay off the law that he can get away with what he did to my daughter. Kill him. I don't care how I just want his head….

The University of Koseki was among the most prestigious schools in the Land of Fire. While it didn’t have the most difficult of entrance exams, it had some of the highest competition to get in. Likely from the sheer amenities offered to the students. There was no denying the sheer amount of money floating around the place, old money. Oddly, very few of the students ever had a shinobi heritage. Yuuki couldn’t help but wonder what life would have been like for him if he hadn’t been born an Uchiha. If he wasn’t born into the bloodsoaked world of shinobi.

He chuckled darkly, the sprawling campus grounds were immaculately kept. Everything seemed so untouched by… everything. No cold war with the Hidden Mist, no dealing with possible attacks from other nations, no looming threat of Yoake or the Akai Kyoudai…

A normal, blissfully ignorant life.

Not that he could ever be considered ‘normal’ by civilian standards. Hell, he wasn’t even an adult in the eyes of the Land of Fire and had already taken several lives. Yuuki heaved a sigh as he walked the campus at a brisk pace. He looked like just about any other student, perhaps a bit shorter.

No, the fact Katsumi and Nagisa were both taller than him didn’t bother him…

Not at all.

Yuuki wore no headband, bore no emblem of the Uchiha clan. Hell, at first glance a lot of people probably wouldn’t recognize him. As much as he hated the lessons, there were times just a little bit of makeup could be as effective as a transformation. With the added bonus of not costing him any chakra.

The dorm building was practically deserted this time of day, with finals coming up most were either stuck in the last few classes of the semester or barricaded in the library. How many late nights did he and Hideki spend trying to get ready for tests at the academy? How much good had those cram sessions even done the pair?

Likely more good than trying to do the same thing at a college level. A lot of the academy’s exams were more on the practical side. Less bookwork to fuss over.

Footsteps sounded behind Yuuki, making him tense and glance over his shoulder. He unconsciously picked up his pace. Even with a disguise, the fewer people that saw him here the better. Ducking into the stairwell, he vaulted the rail and landed at the basement entrance. It was great for getting out of sight from the student behind him.

Not so great for avoiding the janitor he just landed in front of.

The two stared at each other in wide-eyed silence for a few beats before the man gave a huff and tossed a trash bag in his cart. “Kids and your damn parkour,” he muttered while starting down the hall. “One of these days, you’re gonna break your ankles playing ninja…”

I really need to work on my stealth, Yuuki quietly sighed and started down the hall once the janitor rounded the corner. It really was one of his greatest weak points, particularly given Squad 4’s propensity for stealth reliant missions.

But ‘playing ninja’... he shook his head. Most of the people here probably saw the shinobi of hidden villages as heroes. The kind you’d see in movies or read about in novels and manga. Men and women to be celebrated instead of the weapons and killers they really were.

Yuuki let out a slow breath and closed his eyes. It was a simple mission, nice and straightforward for a change. He wasn’t here to be some fantasized hero, he was there to send a message. A loud one that would shake the entire school campus and then some. The client wanted to be sure that everyone involved would know that “even if you can pay off the law, justice will still find you.”

“Justice, huh?” Yuuki stopped in front of a door, this was it. If the information he got was accurate, then it’d be a few more hours until his target showed up. This was probably just the first death of many. A life taken for a life ruined, a cycle of revenge and bloodshed. And shinobi would be at the heart of it all. Instruments of death like they always were. Yuuki unsealed a toolkit and quickly got to work on the lock. Nagisa was still considerably faster at this, but he felt like he’d caught on pretty well. The lock on the dorm room was pretty pitiful anyway.

Yuuki raised an eyebrow at the sheer disaster that this dorm was. Empty coffee cans and clothes were strewn everywhere. Hell, there was even half a pizza sitting on the small coffee table. Summoning and scattering tags, he wove a few handseals to activate the barrier before unceremoniously flopping on the couch. Well, more like the clothes piled on the couch.

God, this place was a mess.

The hours ticked by at a snail’s pace and Yuuki found himself perusing the various magazines and textbooks. Business management, accounting, Ryousei was likely following in his father’s footsteps. The magazines were also all business related, one featuring an article on the Kamiya Corporation.

Giving up on trying to find something to read, Yuuki returned to the couch before just idly tossing a kunai between his hands. Crimson eyes looked up as the lock finally clicked and Ryosei stepped inside. Even with his room being a disaster area, the young man was still nicely dressed in slacks and a white dress shirt.

It took a moment for the blond to notice the intruder, the color instantly draining from his face. “Who the fuck are you? How’d you get in here!?” Ryosei’s voice wavered even as he tried to demand answers. His mind screamed at him to run but he found himself frozen in place - almost impaled - by the red eyes staring back at him.

Should he even bother answering the question? It wasn’t like it would change the outcome either way. “The name Michi sound familiar to you?” Yuuki was almost surprised at how level his voice was, “her father hired me to kill you for what you did.”

Blind panic took over then, Ryousei spinning back for the door. His cry for help turning to a scream as kunai embedded themselves in his back. He dropped to his knees, “Augh… f-fuck…” He choked on a sob, looking back at the Uchiha. This was just a kid. A kid that had broken into his dorm and was now trying to kill him. Terror was still evident in his eyes even as an animalistic scream tore free from his throat. He threw his bag at Yuuki before charging in an effort to tackle him.

Ryosei had barely even made it a step before a kunai was firmly lodged in his throat. He dropped to the floor, barely managing to form a word past the blood, “wh-why…?”

Yuuki knelt beside him, closing the now vacant eyes. “It’s just what shinobi do.”
