Description Shura is actually my first OC I ever created. I played her in my first RP, I've written many stories and she was the main subject of most of my art growing up. She had grown and developed over the years to the point where I've come up with an entire world and species to go with her. Her profile is still a Work in progress because of everything that has happened with her.

2 foot 6 inches black furry tail with blue fur colouring the last ¼ of it.

Long scar down from her eye brow to her cheek over her left eye. A deep scar running from her right shoulder down to her left hip.

Markings/ Tattoos:

Clan marking on her upper left arm just below her shoulder. Large black marking around her left eye which spread in thin whips along her cheek, affect the sclera [white of eyes] turning it black as well with a tinge of violet around the iris. Complex black markings that form the shape of a heart in the middle of her back about a foot long and wide.

Three silver rings along the edge of her right ear. On the left is a silver stud at the base and a bar protruding near the tip.

Physical Description:

Slim body with good muscle tone, some would consider her a bit too thin. Long diamond hard black claws extend from her fingers. Black fur covers her legs from the knee down with digigrade wolf feet.

Several small scars mare her back arms and torso from various wounds and attempts on her life. She usually has a cold look about her that makes many people hesitant to approached her yet she is underestimated at times because of her thin frame and seemingly weak appearance.

Shura is a light sleeper and can be woken up at anytime if she hears something or feels something shift where she’s sleeping. Unless something is wrong or she senses a threat she usually goes back to sleep. She doesn’t normally remember her dreams and the few times she does they are fragmented memories of her past life. On average she gets about 5-6 hours of sleep.

Pre-Amnesia Shura was born in Ixchelia on a small island east of Assyrai called Nyx. She lived a relatively normal life for one born into an Alpha family if the pack. She was loved very much but that did not spare her from punishment. She was trained from the age of 3 on how to fight using various weapons but specializing in short sword and unarmed combat. As third born to the pack leader she didn't bare the responsibilities as her older siblings she was still held to a higher standard than most other. From very young Shura made friend with another pack mate one year older than her named Kito. While their first meeting involved Shura pulling the older boy into some mischievous adventure in which they were severely scolded for later, they grew to become very close friends. Together they explored, caused mischief and trained together. It wasn't until she was in her teens is when shura realized she had feeling perhaps going further than just a friend but never voiced them. The red moon festival shortly after her 10th birthday is when her life drastically changed. This was the night when her pack was attacked by a very powerful shapeshifter known as Ankoku. The pack was ambushed during the height of festivities and nearly wiped out. Shura watched as her pack mates were slaughtered and, while she tried to fight back, had no where near the needed strength to make and sort of impact. She lost site of her siblings and parents in the chaos but Kito had stayed close to her side. When things seemed overwhelming she was dragged away by her older wolf in an attempt to escape. The two managed to make it a good distance away before being caught. Shura fought back but was fatally wounded by one of the members, and her body thrown to the ocean. Before her soul could pass on her body was possessed by a dark spirit who offered her the chance to live. The spirit did save her from death but caused her to loose her memories in the process. The only clue she has to her past and her identity were sporadic dreams and the clan tattoo on her left upper arm.

Post Amnesia Shura adopted the last name “Kiri” from the couple who found and took care of her the first couple of weeks after the attack. She lived with the caring couple until her shadow abilities resurfaced and became too much for them to handle. Everyday there would be an ourburst of power putting the old couple at risk, because of this Shura left before she could cause any serious harm. Shura wandered around for a number of years trying to piece together part of her scattered memories. She developed a bad name because she lacked control of her abilities and often caused some kind of disaster. She was considered a "demon child" and attacked or run out of town many times. During the time she wandered around on her own she was also found and attacked by a shape-shifter named Ankoku. While she escaped at first it was far from their last meeting. She managed to evade him on several occasions but was eventually captured. During detainment she was put through various experiments to test her abilities and extract the power of the dark spirit. Shura spent a year being the shape shifters lab rat, it was a painful experience but one she grew from. Instead of breaking and giving into the manic she withstood every test and learned how to control her destructive power instead of trying to suppress them. She managed to escape from her captors at the age of 16 an managed to stay under the radar for several years. While laying low she used her new found power to earn herself a living. Shura became a thief and stole to survive, she used her knowledge of stealth and killing to make money as a mercenary. As the wolf grew older so did her skill and power, every day was a new challenge or fight. Things became more difficult when Ankoku managed to find her once more but unlike before she was able to defend herself and kill one of the many clones the shapeshifter had at his disposal. Story is still on going...
Abilities & Magic

Shura has the ability to control an manipulated darkness and shadow and minor control over air however most of her knowledge is based upon instinct and trial and error. The source of her shadow and dark magic is sourced from the spirit which is tied to her body and soul. She doesn't have any formal training on magic or her abilities. She has read books and has some minor text based knowledge but most of what she knows is through life experiences.

When the blood of the wolf is introduced into another organism the special cells with in the blood release a strong neurotoxin. The first stage of infection presents its self as general numbness around the area of infection. Shortly following the numbness is an intense pain as the toxins start to eat away at the nerve ending. The pain spread through out the body as the cells progress through the affected person’s circulatory system resulting in paralysis with in 3-5 minutes. Death usually occurs from suffocation when the lungs become paralyzed 15-30 minutes after infection.

  The spirit which claims Shura’s body as its host and prevents Shura’s soul from passing on. Because of this when ever Shura is fatally wounded her body may die for a few minutes to an hour while regenerating afterwards she regains consciousness. Only way she can truly die is by incineration or removing the spirit from her body. In the event that she happens to lose consciousness during a fight the dark spirit will gain control over the body and be able to fight back any threats, or make an escape. When the spirit is in control use of magic and abilities is much more refined and destructive.

: A soul who’s body was once host to the darkness spirit but was consumed by its power. When summoned he takes form of an oversized semi translucent wolf, whose fangs and claws are coated with a Neuro toxin.

Unique to the Suratu family, members have one or both sets of glands which produce special cells which can produce a strong neuro toxin or acidic enzymes. This ability is considered an extension of the Immune and Adrenal system because cells are produced and released as a response to stress. The glands don’t fully develop until late in puberty during the last year when the body is near maturity. When the cells are released into the body the blood takes on an orange huge.

Medical Management:

Members of the Suratu family are immune to the bloods effects however to others it can be a very dangerous adaptation. As a result measures can be taken to manage the effectiveness of the blood.

Herbal Suppression:

A mix of various herbs diluted in water and taken once a week which suppresses the hormone which stimulates the production and release of the special cells unclassifiable hunger, low grade fever, increased blood pressure and pulse. (Side note: Since the gland is bring suppressed a rebound effect can occur resulting in hyperhemotoxicicoma syndrome. [see below])

Direct Suppression

This is only used in an emergency where a large dose of the suppression serum is mixed with a small amount of the antidote and injected into the blood to quickly stop the blood..

This is often used in an emergency where the wolf has been injured or is bleeding uncontrollably and quick suppression is necessary in order to give proper treatment

Rebound

Hyperhemotoxicicoma Syndrome:

This is when the toxic/acid gland switches into overdrive and starts and over production of toxic and acidic cells with or with out a stress stimulus. When this occurs the wolf goes into a period of extreme anxiety where they are hyper, have a short attention span. There are waves where there is no cell production then periods where cells reach such an excess where the body can no longer neutralize the effects and they start to suffer the effects of the toxin/ acid. This syndrome can last anywhere from 2 to 7 days.

Causes of the syndrome are a rebound effect of suppression therapy, trauma/ injury to the gland or infection of the glands. In extreme cases of hyperhemotoxicicoma syndrome surgical measures maybe taken where the removal of the glands may be necessary.

Eastern Assyrian Wolf

Diet: Omnivorous; 70% Meat, 30% Vegetation
Environment: The island of Nyx is a unique ecosystem in where most of the island terrain is located 3 miles above sea level. The northern side is bordered by cliffs, which drop into the ocean while the southeastern side that gradually drop to the low land beaches. The island is broken up into three levels High, mid and lowlands.

Highlands:

The northwestern side of the island where the Nyx Mountains which start along the midlands eastern edge and extend along the northern island coast and tapering off to the west. Vegetation is thinner here in comparison to the rest of the island most trees don’t bear fruit but are strong and typically used for construction. Vostock is a large lake settled at the base of Nyx Mountains where the run off from the mountain collects. The fresh water lake stretches 10 miles in diameter and reaches a depth of 20 feet. Vostock feeds a number of streams and river that run down the terrain; some end up in underground caverns while most run off into the ocean.

The main town where pack resides is located between the high and mid lands on the west side of the island. It is settled between the Nyx north mountain range and the west cliff side surrounded by a moderate amount of forestry.

Midland:

The thickest abundance of forest on the island where there most of the pray and vegetation can be found. The mid lands are generally sloped towards the low lands with some rocky areas and large underground caverns which serve as home to a few fast flowing rivers. Small camps throughout the midlands, which serve for hunters during the autumn hunt to store pray until it can be taken back to the town center.

Aside from a food source the midlands are used for training grounds. The training grounds are a large camp situated near the opening to the Nassir river. A river that runs from lake Vostock, running down the eastern side and drops into a waterfall down into an underground cave. The camp serves to train skill full youths who are to become the next generation of hunters and gatherers. Wolves also specializing in medicine also train at the camp because of its easy access to necessary herbs and to treat the pack mates who are injured during training.

Lowlands:

The low lands are mostly grasslands and beach with little vegetation. The low lands are broken up into four quadrants, named by which direction they face.

North beach:

A stretch of shore with little to no beach, only deep murky waters making it the ideal spot for the shipping docks. Large docks serve to accept and dispatch good to and from the mainland as well as other islands. Because of its proximity to the town stairs and machinery were built into the cliff face to facilitate the transportation of good to and from the docks. The ocean to the north can be difficult to navigate because of the large rocky formation towering over the waters and protect the harbor from large harsh waves.

West beach

: used as hunting grounds where fishing boats are stored and most of the pray gathered is gutted and stored until transported to the town center.

East and South beach:

A popular site for recreational use. Many pack members love to go to the low lands and enjoy the beaches on their down time. The shores are lined with beach shacks to make up for the lack of trees to provide shade. The shore gradually slops into the ocean providing a quarter mile of shallow waters reaching a depth of five feet before dropping off at a faster rate.

Few wolves swim past the half mile mark instead they opt for boats to get to the deeper waters where a rich stretch of coral reef thrive. The reef stretches along the west south and east beaches tapering off into the north where the waters drop into a steep trench.
Anatomy and Physiology: (In their natural form)

The island bound wolves are one of the more balanced in terms of mutation with the ratio of candid features equal to that of human. They remain primarily biped with males measuring an average high of 6” and females slightly smaller at 5’8”. In comparison to humans most of their skeletal structure remains the same. In place of small human ear large triangular wolf ears are positions atop their head most reaching three inches in height. The base of the ear starts at the eyebrow line and usually connects at the top of the skull. The soft external cartilage allow for flexibility as they have the ability to turn and fold the ears for both expression of emotion and locating sounds. The large outer ear allows for heightened sense of hearing. They can hear as far as six miles away in the forest and ten miles in the open. With a maximum frequency of 80 khz Their eyes are naturally slanted and narrowed with large iris and pupils. The bottom lid does have a dark line tracing the lid from corner to corner. Despite their canine blood line they can see the entire color spectrum. Since they have wide pupils they are unusually sensitive to light while their night vision is extremely sharp. Their nose is typically slim around the bridge widening at the base. They have a highly developed sense of smell and can catch a specific scent up to 1.75 miles away form its origin. Their jaws are slightly wider then the average Ixchelian to accommodate the 22 teeth and broad tongue. Teeth are all sharpened even the molar because of their protein rich diets. Specific types of teeth break down into twelve incisors, four canines, sixteen pre molars, and ten carnassials and molars. Strong jaws allows the wolves to crush bones to get to the soft marrow, estimated jaw strength is around 1,5 00 lbs/square inch The skeletal system of Assyrian wolves is one of the strongest of the canine species. It is believe the bones are stronger in the wolf because of mixture of excess calcium phosphate as well as carbon and other mineral with in the bone. As a result of their highly active life style most wolves maintain strong muscle tone through out the body giving them a lean physique. With their ancestral roots being that of the wolf their legs are typically the strongest part of their body with larger muscles. Torsos are proportionately on the long side increasing their flexibility and grace, because of this their arms are also on the long side. The wolves’ hands are also on the large side in comparison to other Ixchelians. Many members develop calluses along the palms of their hands and finger tips because most of the work regarding the pack has to deal with their hands and the face that. In addition many find climbing trees, rocks and other hard surfaces and occasionally they will run on all fours. This is mostly pertaining to Children and young teens. Despite the calluses they still remain highly sensitive to tactile stimulation. Their long claws extending anywhere from ½ an inch to a full 3-4 inches and are usually sharpened to a point. The claws are near impossible to break and are extensions of the phalange bones. Nerves to extend into the claws them selves but don’t go much past the nail bends. Skin covers most of their body with light lines of fur usually starting mid inner thigh and slowly thickening down to the knee. Below the knee the anatomy of the legs are altered to have a mixture between human and wolf with the leg completely covered in fur. The foot still resembles a human foot with four large wolfish toes instead of five. Thick calloused fleshy paw pads cover the base of the toes, ball and hear of the foot. The claws are strong and blunt because the tips are worn off by constant contact with the ground. These are used for digging and in gripping the earth while running. When still or at rest they stand normally but when walking or running they move on their toes. A wolf tail also extends from the coccyx at the base of the spine and trailing down to their paws usually reaching a length of around three feet. Some wolves will have a trail of fur leading up the spine from the base of the tail, most don’t go past 3-4 inches while others have the fur trailing all the way up the spine. Because of their long tail the wolves have a good sense of balance. Several specialized scent glands are located behind the ears and at the base of the tail. The scent from these glands is as individualistic as fingerprints.
Other Forms Noble Form: The form most resembling their human ancestry with all of the wolf features retracted into the body. The few things that remain resembling their feral blood line are the eyes, fangs, claws and well defined muscles unique to the candid race. While small human ear replace wolf ears the cartilage is still slightly pointed at the top. Feral From: A form entered when fighting each other, large pray or a potentially overwhelming opponent. This form retains the human form but fur covers the entire body, muscles grow becoming more defined and the skull shifts to form a short muzzle to accommodate the larger sharpened teeth. The sclera of the eyes takes on a dark huge making the iris appear brighter. They generally switch between moving on all fours and only on their legs. “True Blood” form: (see special abilities)
Special Abilities: All Susilo wolves have the ability to control elemental matter, however the elements that run with in the pack are limited too air, fire and earth/plant. Aside from the elements a few families with in the pack have their own special traits involving telepathy, shape shifting, telekinesis, energy manipulation, etc. “True Blood” form: One special trait that is exclusive to the Susilo pack only. It is a fourth transformation out side of the three normal Ixchelian forms. This fourth form only emerges when the body is at its most stressed and is used as a survival method. In this form they are in their most feral state and will do everything possible to survive including injuring and even killing his or her own pack mates. This form is limited to wolves who have already started puberty and older. Because of the emotional and hormonal stress going on with in the body many adolescent wolves may slip into the True Blood form with mild provoking. (Description WIP)
Development: Ixchelian wolves generally develop and grow twice as fast in their first year in comparison to a human. Then gradually slow and grow at a more humanly pace until puberty where dominant genetic traits start to show and the pups take one their own appearance.

As pups all wolves are born with dark hair and fur and their eyes closed relying on only smell. At 10-13 days their eyes open for the first time. At three weeks the ability to hear develops and puppy teeth appear. The pups typically start to crawl and explore the den. At 8 weeks the pups are have more energy and start rolling around with each other. They begin become more vocal in terms of babbling, yips, growls and howling. Pups start to walk at this age. It isn’t until their 3rd or 4th month that the pups leave the den and meet their father and other siblings as well as the rest of the pack. At this stage the pups are able to walk or rather wobble. Weaning is generally started as they are introduced to solid foods. Six month the pups are on a solid food diet and start play fighting with each other building strength and ability. Puppy teeth start to be replaced by adult teeth. At 1 year pups start observing the different rolls in the pack. Parents typically take their pups to work with them allowing them to observe as they go about their usual chores involved in their job. At times pups are allowed to follow along in hunts and watch from a safe distance how the pack hunts for food and as a group to take down pray. At 5 years the pups take a more active role in what they want to do in life with the masters in the skills starting to teach them all that is involved with their role in the pack. The pups are all trained in the basics of healing, hunting and self-defense.
Puberty

This stage of development typically is the stage where dormant dominant traits start to become active. A side from the typical humanly changes that happen associated with hormonal changes hair and fur color start to lighten while eye colors usually shift to an amber, brown or green color. New abilities such as elemental control or telepathy start to emerge during this time as the body matures and is able to handle the power of their abilities. Puberty usually starts around the age of 12 in females going to about the age of 18 and In males it starts around 14 and ends at about the age of 20. By this stage adolescent wolves are well establish in their roll in the pack and take on the advanced levels of training associated with said role.
Civilization: The Susilo pack members have a balanced society in where they rely on their natural ecosystem for a lot of their resources but are knowledgeable in the technological advancements being made worldwide. Buildings are constructed using a mix of concrete and timber. Most homes are built out of timber, stone bricks and insulated with a thick sticky mixture. Larger structures such as schools and the Meeting hall are constructed using stones from the mountain. Each structure has their own pluming system and use solar panels to generate electricity. Technology such as computers are usually found in the home but are found in other main structures such as the meeting halls, school and library. The lay out of the town consists of a large stone plaza in the center of the town where the meeting hall and food distribution houses are located with homes and other important structures fanning out from there.

Meeting hall

: A large two story stone building marked with crimson and blue curtains on each side of the entrance. The hall is where the pack leader and other high ranked members meet to discus and settles issues.

Distribution centers

: Three single story stone houses where pack member gather food to feed their families. A strict log is kept on what is brought in and given out. Since the whole pack is expected to work as a unit the food is given out no charge.

Homes:

Spreading out from the town center plaza are single story homes usually made of stone and other materials. They house anywhere from 4 to 10 members per house.

School:

Near the northern edge of the town residing beside the mountain edge is a large two-story building. Young pups are taught and educated in a variety of topics from basic reading and writing to advanced classes in hunting and medicine. Most of a wolf’s child hood and adolescence is spent with in the school learning valuable life skills expected of all pack members.

Library

: The library was built as an extension to the school to make information easily available to the community.

Den

: located on the north side of town, near lake Vostock. The den is a small one story stone building extending into a complex cave system where expecting mothers go to give birth and raise their young for the first few months of the pups life.

Clinic:

Built along side the den it is one of the biggest building in the town standing 4 stories. Everything from clinics to emergency surgery is done with in its stone walls to ensure the health of the pack members is maintained.

Attire:

The Susilo pack members wear a wear a variety of clothing in different fashions but none wear shoes. Instead some members may wrap none padded areas with colored ribbon or opt for leg warmers.

The Susilo wolves acknowledge the balance of nature and understand the stress their community can place on their ecosystem. The whole pack will all work as one unit to ensure the nourishment of the pack and manage the food storage for the pack. With in the pack all members have a basic knowledge of hunting and gathering however there are specialized groups of highly skilled wolves. There are three groups wolves who specialized in gathering food for the pack: hunters, gatherers and preparation/stock. All food brought in by the hunters and gatherers are brought to once large center near the center of the community where the prep and stock wolves work to clean and prepare the food for storage. Members of the pack can go to the food center at any given time to get food for their own family however the distribution of food is closely managed based on the age and number of wolves with in the home in order to make sure that there is enough food for everyone.

Hunter:
small groups of 3 to 4 wolves who are skilled in the art of tracking and hunting pray. They typically use traps around the surrounding forest to catch small mammals and injure larger prey, these traps are checked ever 2-3 days. A number of groups specialize in fishing and gathering sea pray. Hunters only gather small amounts of pray during spring and summer enough to feed the pack member but once a year around mid fall all of the groups spread out into the island and off shore to other islands to gather large amounts of pray to store for the winter months where it get too cold to hunt and find pray.

Gatherers

: This group typically out numbers the hunters 2 - 1. These wolves made up mostly of females with a number of herbalists. These wolves go out and gather large quantities of vegetation ranging from fruits and vegetables to weeds and herbs used for cooking as well as medicine. They will go off in groups to the main land once or twice a month to bring back items, tools and special foods that do not grow on the island.

Preparation and stock

: usually a group of 10 to 15 wolves who are skilled in skinning, butchering and storing meat. an experienced stock wolf can skin, butcher and prep a full dear with in 15 minutes. Every part of the animal is used in some form leaving very little to go to waste

Aside from storing meat wolves also prepare vegetation for storage in the winter months. Any seeds harvested from the preparation of produce are given to pups to go out and replant them with in the forest once a week.
Social Structure:

The Susilo are view mostly as a highly organized tribal society because of how closely they have maintained a connection to their roots. While most of their population consists of wolves other species of Ixchelians do reside in the community and are typicaly treated no different.

The break down of the social system is as followed:

Alpha Family: The pack leader and family that sprouts the next tears of command.

Pack Leader

: The Alpha male of the pack is typically the strongest and most skilled member. The Alpha male is determined partly on the approval and acceptance of the elders, once a candidate is cleared by the elders they may challenge the current pack leader for the role of pack leader.

Alpha Female:

Usually the Alpha males mate. She does not take an active role in aspects of the ongoing of the meeting hall but is looked to for advice by other pack member. She is usually skilled in the arts of medicine and communication. She supports her mate but will often act as a conscious for when he is face with challenging decisions.

From the main Alpha pair comes both the Beta male and female with the remaining of siblings regarded as subordinates. All off springs of the Alpha pair are trained hard and expected to take up important and active roles with in the community.

Beta Male:

The first-born son of the Alpha male. He is generally trained the hardest as a pup because he is expected to take over as Alpha male if no one challenges his father for his position.

Beta Female

: The first-born daughter of the alpha pair. She usually does not remain the Beta female for long because the Beta Males mate will take over her role. She usually works closely with her mother aiding her in anything she may need help with.

Social Hierarchy: A side from the main Alpha family there are specific group who are highly respected at times they are held in higher standing then even the Alpha male.

Elders:

The elders is a group of five to ten wolves who are the oldest in the communities generally closing in on their 170th year. Most wolves are killed or die of disease after reaching 150 years of age, which is why the elders are held in high regard. Pups and teens love to gather around the elders when school is not in session to hear the stories and advice they have to offer. When passing a law or action that affects the pack as a whole the elders are generally consulted. Elders usually live with in the meeting hall.

Masters

: The masters are generally older adults who have mastered their skill and occupation with in the community. They over look everyone working in their area and do more managing and educating then actually doing manual work. Masters are expected to take in up to three apprentice to train in order to take over they’re role when they pass on.

Apprentice:

Wolves who are seen to have a natural ability in they’re chosen occupation and excel with in their studies. When the master passes on one of the three apprentices take over. This is determined by a demonstration of skill and ability. The one who shows the most skill will take over as master.

Troop leaders

: The apprentices who do not become masters take up the role as troop leaders. The role of the troop leader is to manage the small groups with in the occupation.

Subordinates

:

All of the remaining pack members, aide from pups and adolescence, who do not hold a high rank fall under this category. They might not hold an official rank but they are considered just as important as the rest because with out them the pack would not function.

Communication: Vocal

The Susilo pack are multi lingual knowing both their native language as well as the common Ixchelian language of the main land. Aside from the common language they retained some methods of communications from their feral ancestry. Aside from yips and growls howling is a common form of communication over both long and short distances. Howls are used to give their location, call or signal other members of danger. Pending on the duration and pitch of the how determines the reason. Howling is sometimes also used to express overwhelming emotions but this is uncommon.

Body Postures Wolves communicate not only vocally, but also by body language. This ranges from subtle signals-such as a slight shift in weight-to the obvious, like rolling on the back as a sign of submission.

Dominance

– A dominant wolf stands stiff legged and tall. The ears are erect and forward. Often the tail is stiff usually curled up. This display shows the wolf's rank to challenging pack mates. A dominant lupine may stare penetratingly at a submissive one, pin it to the ground and when the situation calls for it he/she may bit the others neck.

Submission (active)

– In active submission, the entire body is lowered, and the lips and ears are drawn back. The tail is halfway or fully between the legs, and looking up at the more dominant animal. The back may be partially arched as the submissive wolf humbles itself to its superior. (A more arched back and more tucked tail indicate a greater level of submission.)

Submission (passive)

- Passive submission is more intense than active submission. The wolf exposes its vulnerable throat and underside. The arms are drawn into the body. This is often accompanied by whimpering.

Anger

–Ears are erect, and its fur bristles. The lips may curl up or pull back, and the incisors are displayed. The wolf may also snarl and crouch, ready to attack if necessary..

Fear

– A frightened wolf tries to make its body look small and therefore less conspicuous. The ears flatten down against the head, and the tail may be tucked between the legs, as with a submissive wolf. There may also be whimpering or barks of fear, and the wolf may arch its back.

Suspicion

– Pulling back of the ears shows a lupine is suspicious. In addition, the wolf narrows its eyes. The tail of a wolf that senses danger points straight out, parallel to the ground.

Hunting/Tension

– Ears tilted forward, tail is horizontal and straight. The wolf may crouch as if ready to spring.

Relaxed

– Tail points straight down and may wag. The further down the tail droops, the more relaxed the wolf is.
Traditions: Coming of age ceremony:

This ceremony is held every year where all of the pups who are ten years old are permanently marked with their name on their left upper arm just below the shoulder. The mark is a three-inch long tribal tattoo of a wolf head with wings on either side. Just below the tattoo is the clan members name written in their native script. It is typically 1 inch tall and stretches around the arm in a thick band with lines connecting the first and last letter. These lines vary from family member to family member depending on order of birth. Fist born is marked with a thick one-inch wide black line. Second born is marked with two slightly thinner size lines, and so on.

Special

: Members of the head family have a special mark within the wolf head, an image of a moon overlapping a sun.

Neo-alpha ceremony: Crowning of a new leader.

Leaders often rule over the pack for 100-150 years before another wolf takes over. For another to take over the role as Alpha Male or Pack Leader they must first face the Elders and request their permission to challenge the leader. The elders judge the candidate based on character, understanding of the community and critical thinking skills. Giving him several tests and challenges to complete. If the candidate is approved they are granted the chance to challenge the current leader. If not the candidate must wait five years before trying again, with only three chances to apply.

When the candidate challenges the alpha male a date is set for the match. On the day of the event both wolves meet to fight for the title. The purpose in the match is not to see who dies first but rather who can stay cool under pressure and come up with the best way to win.

A candidate win when the other is unable to fight this is established by their opponent surrendering, pinned, knocked out or incapacitated. Elemental abilities are allowed but most don’t use them to attack but rather defend, restrain or distract their opponent. If the challenger wins then they are crowned as the new pack leader, but if the Alpha male wins the challenger can never apply to be pack leader again.

Even if the challenger is the current Alphas son he must be judged by the elders and fight his father for the title of Alpha male.

Bonding of Hearts:

In the months leading up to the ceremony the pair are expected to live together in order to see if the two are truly meant for each other. If the relationship lasts a year of living together and the ceremony has been planned, the two are separated for a week preceding the ceremony. The pair rarely see each other until the day of the Ceremony

The ceremony can range from a small immediate family only event to a large ceremony involving the whole pack. (This is usually seen when a member of the Alpha family, someone of high rank or is well known in the community is being bonded.)

Called by a higher power three great pack leaders were called together to gather together and face a overwhelming threat. The leaders gathered their packs and fought off the threat driving it from their homeland and into he depths from which it came. [WIP]

Exile and Detachment: Not all wolves are mandated to stay with in the pack, a number of pack member voluntarily leave the pack to explore the world and make a life of their own elsewhere. Communication is maintained between the detached wolves and their family with some visits made every now and then. Although rare some wolves are exiled from the pack and sent off from the island if they are found guilty of breaking Pack Law. Exiled wolves are cut off from the pack and set off the island with no chance of communication from any members. They are usually marked to let all pack members present and future know that they are exiled.
Mating habits:

Eastern Assyrian wolves are a close species. They thrive off of body contact and are an affectionate race with in their own pack. Often times other species find the closeness to be awkward and even disturbing, especially between siblings. When dating it is not uncommon for couples to seek seclusion to engage in intimate activity to build a better bond. Most don’t go to the point of actually matting. Most if not all wolves mate, it is not mandatory that a wolf find a mate but most consider it an empty life. Wolves are allowed to pick their own mates but both partners must consent to the joining.

Meeting/Courtship:

The starting phase a relationship. In the teen years wolves start to take interest in one another but most are too shy or intimidated to approach each other. As young adults they start interacting more with each other. The male tries to court perspective mates. This varies widely from pair to pair. The on goings of dating and building a relation ship hasn’t change much compared to humans. Most couples are happy with being close to one another gradually building connections on a more intimate level. When a couple establishes a deep connection, which can take several years, the male starts to consult the parents of there prospective mate to ask for permission to marry her. More often the not permission is granted and planning for the Ceremony begins.

Mating Season: Once a year between in late winter and early spring both male and females go into a state of heat where hormones run rampant and the urge to mate is stronger then any other time. This is only triggered in pack members who body has fully matures (around the age of 17-20) and have closely bonded with another wolf. If the female becomes pregnant then she will usually move the den at the half way through the pregnancy and won’t see her mate much until after the pups have been born. Pregnancy isn’t mandatory after every matting season many couples use forms of contraception to prevent pregnancy. Pregnancy:

The gestation period of a wolf span 2 to 3 months usually birthing the pups mid to late spring. Expecting mothers go about their daily life for the first few weeks remaining close to their mates when possible. 2 - 3 weeks before going into labor she will move to the den where expecting mothers go to give birth. Despite its small meager exterior the den is a well organized vast system of furnished caves build to promote comfort and relaxation. By some unspoken law males are forbidden from entering the den save for a few special circumstances. Trained midwives and make rounds through the caves checking in on the mothers daily while young females who are not pregnant travel in and out of the den bringing food and supplies. Wolves on average have a litter of 2 or 3 pups at a time which is why most pregnancies are considered high risk and are extremely stressful on the mothers.

Labor and Delivery:

The days leading up to the final stage mothers are restless and anxious finding it hard to sit still for more then a few minutes but are usually too exhausted to do much. Once she does go into labor thing with in the cave become chaotic as medic and subordinate wolves moving in and out of the room. In some severe cases where both the mothers and pups are in danger of death the pups are taken out surgically. Once the pups are born everything goes from manic chaos to joyful calmness. Both are cleaned up and the linens change before the anxious fathers are allowed in for a short period of time.
