Bold, passionate, and dramatic, Georgia is the perfect person for the world of acting and drama. She may not seem like the type, but she can get along with basically anyone. She's very friendly, but is willing to put someone in check if they step out of line. Georgia also has a habit of being painfully blunt, something she hates about herself and tries to control. If she likes someone a lot, she can be very flirty and sends a lot of hints.

Backstory:

Georgia was home-schooled ever since she was 5 years old. Her mother was a stay at home mom, so she had plenty of time to instruct young Georgia. The little girl was used to interacting with adults, but always felt nervous about other children due to being the only child and never attending an actual school. Her parents realized the problem when friends would bring their children other, and Georgia would do her best to avoid them. They eventually decided it was time to make a change around the time she turned 8.

This was when her parents heard about the theater group at their local community center. They immediately signed her up, hoping she could make some friends. It seemed like the best option, since Georgia had two left feet and could break glass with her terrible voice. At first she was nervous - all these kids she didn't know and she had to learn all these lines. It was too much for her young, clueless mind. The theater group instructors saw that she was having issues, and helped her out. They gave her strategies for remembering lines, and encouraged the other kids to talk to her. She was beginning to develop better social skills, but she still didn't have the courage to approach others and she was still forgetting her lines.

She was still in the group when she turned 10. She was used to playing the supporting and minor characters, never being in the spotlight. This changed when the group decided to perform Annie, and the group's leader insisted on her playing the role. She didn't see why the leader chose her out of all the amazing girls in the group. Rehearsals felt awkward, and she was always stuttering on her lines. She heard many members, boys and girls alike, whispering and wondering why she got the part in the first place.

Performance night, Georgia would've ran straight home and into her bed if her parents weren't sitting in the crowd expecting a performance. She couldn't let them down. It was her first lead role. Her theater group friends had helped her as they had more rehearsals. She eventually stopped stuttering and felt more confident. Her singing had even gotten better. But still, she froze up as soon as she got on stage. The curtains were still closed, but she was in position and they would open any moment. She was convinced that she would mess up - she couldn't have been more wrong. As soon as the curtains opened, it was like someone had flipped a switch in her. Saying her performance was amazing would be an understatement. She never hesitated once, and her voice was better than it had ever been before. This was the moment she knew that acting was her passion.

After her performance as Annie, Georgia herself began to change too. She began to be a bit more outgoing, and found courage to do things she could never do before. When she hit middle school, her parents decided to put her in a public school. She was friends with the whole class after only the first day. Georgia hasn't regretted beginning acting for even a second - it changed her for the better.

When one first meets Myeong Yi, she seems to be a timid person. She's always ready for people to make fun of her instead of welcoming her. She's nervous around new people even though she is heavily involved in theatre. She tends to lean on the "just smile and nod" method when she is getting to know someone. One would think that she's outgoing and bubbly but she's rather shy. She tends to get nervous about what to do with herself around new people. Like, what should she do with her arms? Let them dangle? Once others get past her shy and nervous facade, the real Myeong Yi comes out. The real Myeong Yi is bubbly, theatrical, and very talkative. She is a very silly girl who likes to make others smile. She's a very social butterfly which confuses most when they first meet her. She's just like an oyster. Personality:


At first glance, Iris is meek and mild. She does not feel comfortable speaking in a crowd of strangers and often waits for someone else to begin a conversation, keeping a faint smile on her lips out of politeness till the ice has been broken. However, she is never seen near the back of the room or secluded in a corner and once comfortable, Iris can converse as easily as anyone else. See is still trying to find her own footing in the world and has a fear of slipping up and failing or making a bad impression, leading to her usual quietness during first meetings.


On stage or behind a camera, where she does not have to be herself and can shed faces as easily as personalities and impressions, Iris feels free to do whatever she likes. She can be bold and honorable or rude and abrasive, so long as the act can be removed the instant she leaves the stage. It is a place where she can be the least herself and explore a thousand words, faces, and lives before returning to the one she has found herself trapped in.


Biography:


Iris was born to Natalie Kristner and Haytham Jarold, though she would never know her father. Her mother had become pregnant with him and had been subsequently dumped by her then-boyfriend, unwilling to take on the burden at the young age of twenty-two, barely out of college and facing a terrifying world. Iris lived by her mother's side for a time, being carried to work in the shiny office building where Natalie was hired and left to explore the wonders that only an infant could find so. For the first two years of her life, it was only her and her mother, working tirelessly to look after the tiny bundle that always seemed a bit quiet.


Natalie eventually met Jonathan Rendón, a man with a heart of gold and a bright smile. The two began dating and eventually, Iris found herself with a father figure. He raised her as his own and taught her Spanish and introduced her to the world of acting by taking her to see a play put on by the local church's drama group. Only four at the time, Iris found the bright sets, soft words, and rambunctious clapping to be exciting, though she never quite grasped the meaning of the play.


Iris' life, for a time, was spent within the gleaming white walls of the local church, as Jonathan had been raised a devout Christian. Though Iris would not adopt her step-father's faith, she was intrigued by the plays put on by the elementary-school students every Christmas, Thanksgiving, and Easter. By the time her parents had married when she was aged seven, her step-father began taking her to school events, surprised by her eagerness to go to each event and subsequent boredom at the same repeating lines.


There, Iris watched performances of original works about love and loss, about adventures that led people towards hard choices and glorious fame. She watched the shifting faces and whirling dresses change people from princes to kings, from lions to flowers, from a normal person to a character walking off the page. A nearby college also had a drama club that would hold performances every year and Iris took an interest in those, going with her mother to see the way grown-ups moved.


Iris joined a local drama group at the young age of nine, learning how to sing and dance and laugh. She was eager to throw herself in the work, finding faces easier to speak through than her own voice.


As she grew older, Iris began to feel self-conscious about herself, always skinnier than the other girls and always more interested in the lines on the page than whatever it was that was supposed to be interesting to a girl her age. She slunk deeper into the pages of the script to avoid the whispers around her and did find friends among the other actors, ones that also did not feel they belonged.


Iris heard about Canyon Boarding School through her mother, who was eager to feed her growing interest in the arts. She allowed her to apply and was ecstatic about going to a place where there may be a larger stage and more faces to fill. She hopes that one day, the faces on the billboards in New York City that she sees will be her own.

He is a fairly devout man, going to church faithfully ever Sunday to listen to mass though he does not force the rest of his family to go, understanding that everyone has their own paths. He is a kindly man that works as a nurse at the local hospital and enjoys grilling barbaques and cracking bad puns in both English and Spanish.


Natalie Rendón, nee Kristner, age 36 -- Iris' mother and one of Iris' biggest supporters, Natalie wants nothing more than to see her daughter go on and achieve her dreams. She sometimes wishes that Iris was more outgoing but has learned to accept it as simply another facet of her. Natalie currently works at a desk job as an accountant for a company and is the voice behind the family. She tends to eat and talk nonstop when anxious or stressed and has the gift of gab.


Marcus Rendón, age 3 -- Iris' younger half-brother, Marcus seems to have made it his life mission to scream as loudly as possible whenever Iris is trying to accomplish something. Natalie promises that he will grow out of it and claims that Iris was as bad, though everyone knows that this is a lie.

Personality:


At first glance, Randell may seem very athletic or outgoing, or even a big people-pleaser, but he's really quite the opposite. First off, he's a little shy. When you spend your whole life being bullied by the bigger kids, that's what happens to you. He never had many friends, but the ones he did have, he valued very greatly. He's also a bit of a nerd. Randell just loves reading, which has lead him to his love of acting out his favorite characters, and eventually, drama. He's a very smart boy, although he much rather spend time acting out a scene from a book. He's friendly to new people, but careful not to let them get too close to where they could hurt him.


Backstory:


Until he got to 7th grade, Randell was a reserved kid. He would try to be alone most of the time, while the other time would get spent with his bullies. Randell would spend most of his time alone reading and acting out scenes, just lost in his own world, and the other time studying, as he wanted to keep good grades. But, during the summer before 8th grade, his parents told him he had to find something to do other than locking himself in his room. When they suggested sports, he politely declined. But they told him he had 2 days to pick something or they would pick for him. It only took him a few hours to find out about acting classes and pick some for the summer. His parents were hesitant of it at first, but as long as he was getting out of the house, they were happy, so they let him take them. Randell came back to 8th grade feeling much better, and his love for acting carried on all the way until high school, where he signed up for drama class.

Personality


A bit of sweet, a bit of spice, and Lilah is definitely everything nice. At least, she tries to be. Lilah is a firm believer in the idea that everyone deserves a chance. Having been hurt by her kindness on multiple occasions, she's not the hardest one to trick when you want someone, but she can take a few hits. Despite her seemingly unending kindness, Lilah knows how to banter and even how to strike someone to the bone if the need arises, even if she'd rather not. Loaded with sarcastic remarks and jokes for her friends, Lilah loves to perform, relax, and surround herself with friends.


Backstory


Born to Jeremiah and Daisy Thorne, Lilah is the oldest of three, having twin younger brothers. Growing up alone for eight years, Lilah easily became somewhat friends with the girls in her grade, but never close enough to always spend time with. She just never clicked with anyone. So at home after school, she would draw, finding enjoyment in turning lines into something beautiful. Her parents, upon seeing her work, decided that enrolling her in art classes at the local community center would be a good way for to try and connect with others more.


After a few years of attending classes, Lilah had finally heard of the illustrious drama club at the community center she spent her time at. Her parents would be late in picking her up so she had time to waste. Wandering around the building, she'd stumbled upon the most recent practice for their next performance.


As she watched kids her age practice their lines and songs, Lilah felt a stirring inside of her. This seemed interesting. During dinner with her parents she told them about what she'd seen and begged them to buy tickets to go see the performance. Doing as she'd asked, the two adults had bought three tickets to see the play on opening night and were glad that they did.


After the performance was over, Lilah was ecstatic. What she'd seen was marvelous and she wanted to take part in it. Creating something this big that made others happy? That was definitely something she wanted to do. Once that performance was over, Lilah had joined the drama club, still taking the occasional art class.

Saoirse is a bundle of joy and energy, at least on most days. She likes to sing, to dance, to move around. She enjoys being in the spotlight, the life of the party, cracking jokes that gets everyone laughing and having a good time. She'd rather ramble than stay silent, and some people might find her a bit tiring to be around for too long. She makes up for it by being extra nice and accommodating with her friends.

Background

Saoirse was born in Ireland, where her parents met and got married. Her memories of the green country are scarce and blurred by time: the little family emigrated to the States when she was six. Of Ireland, Saoirse kept her name, her accent and her love for stories and songs. At a very young age, she developed a keen interest in fairy tales and play-pretend, often pushing her little playmates to be the dragon or the princess will she'd be the knight saving them all. Her parents' time-consuming jobs left the young girl in the care of a string of sitters and helpers, who usually let her raise herself. Saoirse grew up thinking that nobody else saw their parents either, or never ate homecooked meals either, and she was really surprised (and a bit envious) to discover that this wasn't the case. This lead to an even greater rift between them, and Saoirse retracted even more in her little make-believe world, where there was no bully and no bullied.


Her parents decided to enroll her into acting and singing classes when she entered middle school, in order to try and pry her out of her shell. Those did wonders. Saoirse even integrated the drama club of her school, discovering a passion for being on stage, the fright, the anticipation, the lights, the magic, the applause, the everything.


Her decision was taken – she was going to be a theatre actress, no matter what everyone said. Her parents, feeling a bit out of touch with their daughter, agreed to send her to the high school she selected, well aware that Canyon isn't the powerhouse it used to be. They hope that the disappointment and hard work will be enough to deter Saoirse and get her to choose more realistic, “safe” professional goals.
