Severus Snape

Naturally untrusting of others, he is best described as a loner and insecure. Severus has always been an awkward child with poor social skills. Even when it was important to him to make a good impression, he always seemed to have trouble doing so. His unhappy relationship with his father may have been the origin of his disdain for Muggles. For the most part Severus has just about always been friendless and uncared for by his parents. This lack of care is what ultimately shaped Severus's bitter disposition.
He was born to a wizard mother and muggle father. Severus, whose father was neglectful and possibly even violent, began to identify with his mother's family and created a secret nickname from his mother's maiden name, calling himself "the Half-Blood Prince." Severus grew up at Spinner's End, a shabby suburb of Cokeworth. This area of town was near a dirty river and full of dilapidated houses, disused factories and broken down street lamps. Through the rest of his life, Severus continued to return there when he was not at school. As a child, Severus was neglected and his parents often fought with one another. He could not wait to leave for Hogwarts at the end of the summer. Lily Evans and her family lived in the same town, close to Spinner's End. After watching her for some time, Severus noticed her evident magical abilities and began making friendly overtures. The two bonded quickly and it appears that he was very interested in Lily right from the beginning, though she only regarded him as a good friend.

Dislikes: Gryffindor, Bullies, Fools, James Potter and his jolly-go-lucky gang of friends, Muggles
Wand: 13.5" Dragon Heartstring core, Blackthorn wood, and fairly inflexible. No embellishments, rather plain and slender.
Owl or Familiar: None, he simply uses the school's owls to his need. But as he it is safe to say he is reasonably un-sentimental and non-sociable, he very rarely has the need to send an owl.
Young Severus is typically depicted as wearing ill-fitting clothes most likely due to the particular circumstances of his home life. His jet-black hair is reasonably unkept and untrimmed. He is awkward and lanky as he continues to grow into the physique of a tall man. Severus' gait is unfittingly graceful for his appearance, Severus tends to be light-footed and seemingly glides noiselessly wherever he goes. Between that and his tendency to go utterly unacknowledged upon entering a room, he often startles people with his "sudden" appearance.
