Official Cendrillion Ball Events

First Week

Iliosae, Cariya 1st: Opening Banquet

Hosted annually in the Dining Hall of Waltz Castle by the Euthalian Court, the Opening Banquet provides a chance for the year's invited Representatives to get acquainted and establish friendly ties. The events of the Opening Banquet are said to set the tone for the remainder of the Cendrillion Ball. Traditionally it is capped by a commemorative dance led by the Euthalian Representative and their chosen partner.

Chomae, Cariya 2nd: TBA

Roserasian Calendar

In case you haven't noticed, Roserasia uses a calendar slightly different from that of our Earth. The current version was first adopted by the Euthalian Empire when First Emperor Anathanios decreed the start of recorded history. Since most humans had leeched off of the preexisting arien calendar before that point, the current version has names derived from old arien cycles, which, in turn, are said to be named after ancient arien gods. However, to prove human superiority, Emperor Anathanios funded scholars to develop a new and more accurate calendar, now known as the Anathonian Calendar, which, with minor tweaking throughout the years (and several attempts by upstarts to replace), most all in Roserasia still use to this day.

The months are as follows:

  • Abiery
  • Piceary
  • Ulmus (formerly Ulmurch)
  • Cariya
  • Betulary
  • Salune
  • Cratagust
  • Fraximust
  • Acerus
  • Patanus
  • Quercust
  • Pinous
The types of climates and seasons present during the months more or less follow the Roman Calendar, beginning with Abiery (January), and ending in Pinous (December). However, unlike the Roman Calendar, the Anathonian Calendar evenly divides up its months into 30 day segments. Then, once every 6 years, there is a 'Leap Month,' officially named Arecaceary, that takes place after Pinous. This is usually accompanied by huge celebrations once believed to chase away evil spirits, though to be born in the Leap Month is considered greatly inauspicious. Formal education is paused during the Leap Month, making it especially popular among students. The Cendrillion Ball is always held in the month of Cariya (April), and has been since its beginning.

There is also a separate system devised to divide up the months into more manageable sections. These are, of course, weeks. Each week is composed of 7 days, named after the magical elements established by ancient tribes. Cults devoted to these 7 elements are still in existence among arie and Witches, and some communities are even dedicated to one as their patron.

The days of the week are as follows:

  • Iliosae ( Day of the Sun )
  • Chomae ( Day of the Earth )
  • Idorae ( Day of the Water )
  • Aerasae ( Day of the Wind )
  • Fotiae ( Day of the Flame )
  • Aithirae ( Day of the Magic )
  • Fengare ( Day of the Moon )

A tradition much like our Zodiac has evolved around which of these days a child is born. It is considered a pseudoscience by some, though to others, especially Witches, an important life-determining attribute. To celebrate one's birthday on the exact day of the week one was originally born is usually considered a bigger, more important event. It is not uncommon to find "Sae Readers" at markets, carnivals, and other such locales. Though the readings and interpretations go much more in-depth, here is a brief summary. Feel free to play around with it as you wish!
