Name : Saran

Age :  18

Race :  Human

Height : 5’2’’

Body type : Sinewy

Extended Appearance : Saran has a wiry physique that is equal part breeding and lifestyle. The muscles she has are built for endurance rather than strength, her movements an effortless bouncing lope that she could continue for days. Her skin is pale due to little exposure to the elements, but frequently hidden in a layer of dirt. Her hair is cut short for ease of maintenance, but even so is rarely groomed.

Her only clothing is simple cotton robes, she wears no armour since her entire style is based around her agility and the weight would only slow her down. She has no adornments beyond the shackles she wears when not in the arena.

Personality : Saran has no personality as we would know it. Although she is physically human she has been raised in a manner closer to an animal. She is loyal to her masters in the same way a dog might be, kept in check by fear enforced by beatings. In the ring she is ferocious and merciless, there is no compassion or comprehension that in maiming or killing she’s doing anything wrong; quite the opposite since she’s heavily rewarded for each of her wins so she goes happily into combat and bears any wounds she suffers without complaint.

She is however not malicious. Though she would kill another competitor without compunction she hasn’t got the imagination to hate someone, so if she could be convinced that another creature was no threat to her (or perhaps bested her without killing her) she might be persuaded to treat it like pack. She is ultimately human so she could learn to love, but equally with so dark a past she could just as soon learn to hate.

Biography : Saran was quite literally bred for life in the arena. Her parents were champion fighters but they came to the arena and brought with them the complications that could be expected of any sentient creature forced to commit barbaric acts against their will. Seeing this their masters/owners sought to solve the problem and their solution was to raise a child to this that knew no different: who would kill without question and die without fear.

Saran’s parents were chosen for their qualities as breeding stop in the same way that pedigree dogs might have been, and when Saran was born she was taken from her weeping mother as soon as she could be reared off. Saran was one of several such children that grew up in the world of the arena and was trained (in as much as any of them were) alongside the others. A child in this environment should have died quickly but seeking to protect their investment her owners shielded her and the others from the worst until they were old enough to understand what was expected of them and then, with their ‘generosity’ spent and keen to start recouping their investment, they were thrown to the wolves.

Today Saran is the one of the few who survived, her pedigree and her own tenacity seeing her become a lethally efficient fighter. She literally lives for her time in the arena, and has no thoughts or feelings or indeed a life outside of it. She has been conditioned to wait patiently between bouts and then bounds eagerly to meet her match so that she might enjoy the brief praise with which she is lavished upon victory.

Powers : Frenzy - Saran can be overcome by a blood lust, launching at her target with a frenzied energy, becoming ignorant of any blows landed on her in retaliation. The downside is it leaves her blinkered, unseeing of anything besides her immediate target and therefore vulnerable to ambush.

Double down - the fear of the vicious punishment that would await her if she failed can give Saran the strength to rise again, even after a beating that would kill most. The cost of this second wind is a complete exhaustion that leaves her virtually comatose once the adrenaline is spend. This is truly a last ditch effort.

Skills : No skills beyond a proficiency with most types of weapons. She hasn't lived outside of the arena and knows nothing besides fighting. If she's lucky enough to survive that may well change.
