Personality: Sam is a human puppy. He's loud, affectionate, and eager. For him the world is a constantly exciting surprise and he's always wandering off and getting distracted by anything new or weird. Although he comes across as a bit childish sometimes he's clever, just in very specific ways. He can tell you anything about plants, books, or movies, but ask him to do anything more than simple math and you're in for disappointment. He has a sharp wit and likes playfully making fun of people, but feels immensely guilty if he ever hurts anyone's feelings without meaning to. His easy go lucky demeanor means it's hard to upset him but when he's hurt he tends to sulk, withdrawing from people and disappearing for short stretches of time.
He believes in trying everything at least once, and probably a lot more times after that. This tends to get him in trouble especially in conjunction with his love of parties. He's always been a wild child and often finds himself at odds with authority figures. He has a more serious side but it rarely comes out and he prefers it that way, which might contribute slightly to his somewhat excessive use of substances.
Bio: Sam is the first child of Nathan and Lilith Hain, two relatively young hippies from Texas. He grew up in Austin and was constantly surrounded by nature, music, and new people as his parents often had friends come and stay with them for periods of time. His father is a musician and his mother is an architect which meant his dad was the more stay at home parent growing up. At any rate, Sam has about the happiest kid you could find. His upbringing was a little unconventional since his parents believed in a very free style of parenting that meant Sam could do just about whatever he wanted as long as he didn't kill himself or get arrested.
His family relocated to Washington for his mother's work when Sam was 14. He was slightly upset at first- he had a lot of friends back in Austin and loved the city but he found Washington to be incredibly beautiful and after a few weeks of exploring the woods he felt right at home. This was around the time he started experimenting with drugs and alcohol and over the years he developed a reputation as a party animal. Honestly, he just likes to have a good time and so far he's succeeding.
