Name: Sakura Junsuina Mizūmi Ashinoko
Nickname(s): June, Hakone, Aishi (only by her sister). But almost all but her sister call her Sakura.

Height: Over 7' with her tail (If she had legs she'd be around 6')
Weight: 75kg / 12 stone

Purification:
This power has been passed down through the generations of her family, and she has been trained with this from a young age. This ability allows her to;
Clean or purify pollution - obviously, this has it's limits, as it effects her negatively depending on how much pollution she cleans. If she does too much, she can become seriously ill.
Salt water into fresh- She can remove salt, brine and all impurities from water, turning it fresh and drinkable. Some even say that they feel happier and enlightened or have had an illness cured after drinking it, but these are only rumours.
Un-spoil food- She can turn spoiled food (mainly fruit) back to it's prime through removing impurities and returning it to it's prime state. This was their main source of food while moving from Ashinoko lake to the sea.
She can, to some extent, heal wounds or illness, by removing impurities in the blood or around the wound. This is very risky, however, as this effects her negatively in the same way as cleaning pollution does. And she is unable to close a wound or stop a wound bleeding, it's more of a glorified cleaning. It can eradicate infection, or a virus.
Singing - When she sings, her voice is said to purify the mind, and one merman even said she cured his barnacles! (She was so embarrassed, she wouldn't leave the cave for a week. If you can't tell, she hates people hearing her sing, even though her voice is angelic.)
She can do a few other things, but these are by far the main benefits of this power.

To put it simply, she can manipulate fresh water, which works very well with her being able to turn salt water into fresh water.

Above all, she is dutiful, and is distraught that she is unable to continue her duty. Protective of her sister, she would do anything for her. Even if she is emotional, she has an incredibly strong character and willpower, and is often underestimated. Skittish and paranoid, she will scarper if she senses danger, and this is generally directed at humans. This paranoia is relatively new, and she's still really inquisitive and curious, feelings she tries to suppress when it comes to humans. She is full of grief, regret and guilt from her past, but tries to push it aside, or at least hide it, for her sister.

Bio:
Growing up in the Ashinoko lake in Hakone, her family have purified the waters there for generations, protecting the shrine. She was brought up to be the next protector, and the ceremony for her to officially start her lifelong duty as protector was held on the day she turned 16. For 2 years she purified and protected the waters of Ashinoko, and Hakone shine... But a young mermaid swam to the surface, before taking any precautions, and went to the lakeside to fetch a seemingly abandoned apple, and was spotted. Before she knew it, her home was being destroyed, her family captured and killed, and she could do nothing but gather hat she could, and escape with her sister. Any reminder for what happened will fill her with regret, as she blames herself for what happened. Without looking back, she swam with her sister to the sea, and they now live in a rather spacious cave, and have been for almost 2 years.
Fun facts/Additional facts:
Her and her sister are the only remaining descendants of Koi mermaids that lived in Ashinoko lake, Japan.
She's never cut her hair, and it's silky waves reach far past her first fins
She has odd control over her fin muscles, which she can move independently - which means she can swim with deadly accuracy, performing moves that look impossible (she's better in freshwater)
Her and her sister both posses silvery blue orbs, which aid them with their abilities, and Sakura's even allows her to turn into a human for a short time (1-2 hours at most). They have been passed down by their ancestors. Another known use for them is to absorb the pollution Sakura absorbs through the use of her powers.
Their cave's opening looks as if there is a bubble of air, but it is actually fresh water, so their home is clean- purified by Sakura herself. Both girls also are often wearing what look like air bubble masks, but are fresh water- so they are more comfortable in the saltwater they now frequent.
