Dawn had spent her time in Vale resting; relishing the short break from her typical cycle of working and homework. She’d made the trip to the city marketplace a couple of times, but other than that she’d been buried under a pile of pillows and blankets in her team’s room. The room provided for them was surprisingly nice- better than anything she’d experienced in Vacuo, but nothing that wasn’t anticipated. Dawn had no problem being a little lazier than usual, considering the comforts they were given. She’d even tried to get Sigal to pick her up something from the vendors so she didn’t have to leave the room yesterday, but even Dawn knew that was a stretch.
Today was different, though. The clouds had parted, letting the sun scorch the ground like it did in Vacuo. So, she’d woken up early and left for the city. She caught an airship around eight, and hadn’t been on campus since. She was amazed by how well the city was able to handle the influx of tourists and students; with wide streets likely made specifically to accommodate the Vytal festival, and businesses purchasing double, or even triple the amount of stock they normally would. Needless to say, it was enough to keep everyone happy for the duration of the festival.
Dawn, after spending many more hours at the Vale Zoo than she intended, boarded an airship at around noon so she could get back to the dorm. She wasn’t necessarily tired, but she felt the bed in her room calling out to her and didn’t want to keep it waiting. She also remembered that she was supposed to be back in the room at noon, but she would be almost an hour late by the time she got there anyways.
She stopped at a vendor on the way back to her team’s room, but refrained from buying anything. Sigal wanted the team to eat lunch together, and on the off-chance that they’d waited for her in the room, she didn’t want that to be in vain.
Sadly, though, not only did she find the room empty, but locked. After messsing with the electronic lock for a few minutes, Dawn got fed up and fired off an angry message to the group chat, criticizing whatever selfish dope locked the door on her. She slumped against the door for a few minutes, watching the clock on her scroll go from 12:37 to 12:43 while her feet rested.
Before long, she’d opened the silly ‘Stalk my Team’ app that Sigal insisted she downloaded, turned on her tracker and located the remainder of her team, sans one grayed out member. With her temper died down, Dawn pushed herself off the floor and started the walk down to the vendors.
Dawn hadn’t worn any of her nicer clothes since they arrived; swapping traditional Mistrallian dresses for baggy grey monochrome sweatshirts. Her hair was an absolute mess, despite the fact that it was clean. Still, her pale skin shone nicely in the sun, and above all else, she was comfortable. She walked with as much arrogance as she would if she had neat hair and a beautiful dress.
After a few minutes, Dawn arrived at the vendor her teammates were sitting at. She’d had time to calm over the door situation, and had a small smile on her face when she plopped down in the seat next to Sarava and snatched the bowl that was between him and Sigal. She gave a short wave towards the two with one hand, and grabbed the fork and stuffed her face with the other.
