Fandom RWBY - Hysteria Behind the Walls

Aiyanna Imari
Location: Somewhere in Beacon
Interactions: Ian Temero Ian Temero

Aiyanna and the girl made quick work of the beowolves, having now two huntresses to deal with them. Aiyanna made Echo reverse back into beatbox form and gave the girl another wide smile. Her eyes widened as the girl began to walk away, she quickly caught up to the girl when it hit her, "LILITH! That's what your name is!" Aiyanna exclaimed as her name finally came back to her.

Aiyanna then blushed as she realized she just screamed Lilith's name suddenly,
"Oh...um how about we stick together...if one of us gets attacked again it will be faster to fight the Grimm together rather than alone. Plus if we don't hurry we'll miss the evacuation ships!" Aiyanna smiled brightly as she kept pace with Lilith, her previous embarrassment gone as she happily walked.

JOHN WHITE
Location: Beacon streets, talking to trash

John wasn't exactly sure what he was supposed to do in this kind of situation. On one hand he couldn't just leave the little faunus girl alone, who knew how long her hiding in the trash can would keep her safe. Only a matter of time until something knocks it down and finds her. On the other hand it really didn't concern him, and he was sure that if the little girl had been okay for now her sister should come back and get her. "Unless she died." The thought was quick to push itself to the top of his head as he held back on saying it out loud. There was a good chance that this girl's sister was dead, although he would never say it out loud to her. Instead he decided to take a calmer approach.

"Well I can't just leave you here with the trash, it's filthy." He looked around the street before finding a building that looked semi-stable and said "How about this. We can go together and wait in that building over there. That way if- I mean when your sister comes back you can come right out to her. How does that sound?" He asked as he held out his free hand to the little girl. Truthfully if the girl declined his offer he would just plop the lid back on and drag her into the building, not like she could do much to stop him, but at the very least if her sister does show up she wouldn't assume he was some sort of child kidnapper.

Sergeant Sigi Grauer
Location : Beacon's Corridors outside the Cafeteria
Interactions : Trombone Geek Trombone Geek

Sigi rolled the only eye capable of rolling when the student started talking about how he spoke to janitors, and his reason behind it. Though, it did bring a smile to his face. Not many people gave janitors respect, and Sigi happened to be one of the people that didn't. Still, at least someone did.

While Sigi's natural eye rolled, the other slowed it's pulsing and dulled in color. His augmented eye was directly connected to many parts of him. For instance, the reason it pulsed was because it was able to detect his heartbeat, and it pulsed in time with it. The intensity of the pulsing, the color of it's base and the color it pulsed with were all determined by his emotions at the time. It made him an open book, and he liked it that way.

After he followed the student into the corridors of beacon through a roof access point, Sigi grabbed a bit of cloth that was hanging off the edge of someone's weapon and covered his mouth with it. The smoke in the halls was getting bad; and they were pretty far from the fire, too. Sigi's augmented eye began pulsing faster, between green and white.

When they reached the room they were looking for, Sigi sighed in disbelief. He set down his handgun and began pulling on the twisted metal. It wouldn't budge. He tried pulling harder, but yanked his hand away a few seconds later. His eye flashed with red for a moment. "Fuck- I cut myself.." He explained. The metal caught him pretty bad. Bad enough to cut straight through his glove and at least half an inch into his hand. Add that to the list of things we need to get fixed..

Upon hearing a rapidly advancing set of at least eight feet, Sigi whipped around to the hall they came from.

They were just Creeps.

Sigi sighed, "I'll deal with them. Go up a floor and get in through the roof. Fix the problem, and we'll figure out a way to get you out. The quicker we get this done the better."

He couldn't possibly stress that last part enough. They were pushing the clock.

Meer watched the Atlesian try to pull the warped metal from its place in the rubble, only to cut himself. "Jeez--um, I hope that heals up soon, especially because there was somebody else's blood on it.." So much for his attempt to cope with that by pretending the red stain wasn't actually someone's blood. "That looks nasty, too.." He watched for a moment, but the cut didn't start healing. Does this man have Aura at all? the student wondered, and he opened his mouth to ask only for the clatter of several Creeps' footsteps to interrupt him.

"Uh, right, yeah. I'll be back soon!" Meer rushed off, darting in the opposite direction of the Grimm and taking some stairs two and three at a time. The fourth floor was cleaner than the bottom three, but also more unstable, with portions of the floor trying to fall in. This was where Meer had to slow, really realizing how unstable Beacon Academy's structure was at that moment. If the Grimm, White Fang, or fire didn't take them first, then they would probably be crushed. Who knew?

Leaping an overturned bench like it was a hurdle, Meer paused and looked down at the hole in the floor. "Yeah, that looks like it's it.." he muttered to himself, sliding Altewache out of its sheath and considering for a moment. Ice was slippery, but using any earth Dust would danger the structural integrity of the building.

Shrugging, Meer sheathed the weapon, deciding he'd just use it to lever himself out of the closet, or something, since the entrance was too firmly blocked. He crouched down, slowly lowered himself over the edge, and didn't let go until his boots touched firm ground and he was sure he wouldn't slip on the water he could hear dripping. So the pipe was damaged, but still trying to function, it seemed, even if only a little bit. Meer looked around him, stomped a few times, and decided yeah, he could try using earth Dust to patch this up. So he unsheathed Altewache (again) and activated the earth crystal, and carefully tried to seal the pipe. It was poor in terms of artistry, and probably would't hold for long, but it should be enough to let the sprinkler systems activate. The pressure might cause it to burst later, but at least the fire would be out. The student wasn't very sure which scenario was better, but he clambered his way out and ran back to the soldier anyways.

"The problem's solved, for now. There's a fire alarm back near the cafeteria we can pull, and that should activate the sprinklers," he suggested, panting slightly now as he slowed next to the Atlesian.

Sigi noticed how to student’s eyes rested on his hand for a moment before he left. Though he questioned it, Sigi dismissed it. He gave the Creeps his full attention.

The first lunged at Sigi, who side-stepped it and let it scrape against his chest plate before falling to the ground a few feet past its original target. Sigi wasted no time in executing it with his handgun, before looking down the hall to anticipate the next.

He was able to count three more before the next one attacked. Sigi raised his wrist and let the Creep close his jaw around the protective armor there, before putting three rounds through its gut.

Before the second Creep had even finished disintegrating, the third lunged at him. This caught Sigi off guard, and knocked him to the floor. He caught himself with his bad hand, making him wince, but it allowed his good hand to fire into the Creep before it bit his face off.

Sigi scrambled to his feet and grabbed a rolling chair from along the wall, which he swung out towards final Creep. Once he had something between him and the final Grimm, he was able to land two clean shots in the top of it’s head, around the time the student came back.

Sigi let himself catch his breath for a moment, before grabbing the student by the arm and starting to run towards the cafeteria, to indicate that they didn’t have time to sit and talk. He let go after a few feet and increased his speed.

He pulled the fire alarm when he passed it, yanking it hard enough to break the handle. The sprinklers all around campus turned on and began assaulting the fires that were raging around and inside the school. The blaring alarms and blinding lights turned on as well. Sigi began vaulting over tables and chairs to the best of his ability, dodging the various Grimm that populated the cafeteria. It was hard to believe that this was once a communal area for students.

Before long, Sigi’s cockiness brought his sprint to an end. A Beowolf outside his vision swung its arm at chest-level to Sigi. Luckily, though, he saw it in time.

And he ducked.

The paw of the Beowolf struck the left side of his face, hitting him like a train. He flew back, landing with a ‘thud’ on a table. The table dented and cracked. Before the Beowolf could follow up on its attack, Sigi rolled off the table. He wasn’t unconscious, but his ears were ringing and the pressure in his head was driving him crazy.

Sigi pushed himself up off the floor, wincing. He could already tell that his augmented eye has been damaged badly; only it wasn’t shutting down like it should. His vision was coming and going, sometimes in blurs and sometimes in flashes. If the concussion he just got wouldn’t drive him mad, that would.

Meer was about to ask about the Atlesian's hand, but after a few seconds the soldier grabbed his arm; stumbling slightly, the student got the message and ran next to the Atlesian and whipping Altewache free to crack the pommel into the face of an unfortunate Creep, following the soldier's path with a few alterations to avoid the Grimm. Meer thanked Lady Luck (and felt just a little bit bad about it) when the Atlesian took the brunt of a Beowolf's powerful paw instead of himself, and skidded to a stop. Except now they had a huge problem on their hands: Meer could see by how the Atlesian rose to his feet that he was disoriented, and the Grimm in the large room were beginning to close around them. The student paused, looking all around him frantically, at a loss for what to do.

"Shit--what--" He turned and moved closer to the soldier. This was a good area to fight, much better than the crowded hallways, but they were grossly outnumbered. Trying to ignore the spike of anxiety shooting through his chest, and how his hands were beginning to shake slightly, Meer tightened his grip on his weapon until his knuckles were white. Until the soldier recovered enough to properly take in his surroundings and all that, the student had nothing left to do but to play bait.

"Hey, what's your name?" he asked, hoping he got a steady answer and that his potential death-buddy wasn't horribly concussed, and also trying to distract himself from their bleak situation. He was slowly backing himself into a corner, hoping that the soldier would follow; at least in a corner he wouldn't have to cover himself and another from all directions. Not that it was the best idea ever, either.

Sigi's blurred vision didn't provide much in the way of helping him assess the situation. He could hear the grimm around him and the student carelessly knocking over tables and chairs, aching to be the first to land a hit on either of them. From what he could gather, they didn't have much time before the grimm were on top of them. They'd need nothing short of a miracle to get away from the building alive.

Turning his head towards the student while slowly backing up, Sigi answered his question, "Gunnery Sergeant Grauer," He opted to give his rank and surname, for personal reasons. If he died here, the less him and the student connected the better. They'd have time to bond later.

Sigi had stopped moving backwards, in an attempt to space himself from the student for a bit. That didn't last for long. He caught glimpse of an ursa charging towards him, and quickly got into a defensive stance. The ursa slammed into him, though it didn't knock him off his feet. He slid back on his feet, stopping when he slammed into the wall next to the student. The impact didn't damage anything on Sigi that hadn't already been damaged. He coughed, feeling the armor on his chest press into his ribcage, which compressed his lungs uncomfortably.

He glanced in the student's direction while he unholstered his pistol. "There should be an intercom relay in the kitchen. Find it, put your scroll in the slot and broadcast for help." The intercom system should work with students' scrolls, and it should be able to be played through the speakers all around campus. Their call for help wouldn't go unheard.

Sigi looked away from the student and fired a round into the ursa that attacked him, putting it to rest. The shot would attract the majority of grimm to their position.

"My armor will hold. Don't worry about me. Just get us help." Sigi's voice was calm, but on the inside he was panicking a little. If the student ditched him, didn't make it to the kitchen, or couldn't figure out the intercom- he would die. They needed backup badly.

Meer swiped away an advancing Boarbatusk, sparing a glance to Sigi to respond ("Meer Glas, good to meet ya,") and paying for it when the Boarbatusk charged at him, gashing his dominant arm. "Gah--" Viciously, the student stabbed the Grimm straight in the skull, kicking it in the ribs to both agitate the wound and release some anger at his stupid mistake. "I don't think-" He was cut off by another Grimm's attack, leaping onto a chair and planting his foot in its face-- "-that you'll be able to hold off--shi--" the chair wobbled, and Meer hopped off, finishing off the Grimm attacking him-- "-all these Grimm on your own with just that tiny pistol! If you go, I can activate my Semblance and hold them off," he suggested, but a shriek from a little way down the halls persuaded him otherwise. There were more Grimm coming; there was no time to argue.

"Nevermind!" Meer said, and began sprinting through the crowded cafeteria, barely managing to avoid the increasing number of Grimm and incredibly glad, for once, about his Semblance. The kitchens were huge, though, and as he burst through the doorway into them he paused. Anxiety spiked in his chest, a sickening roil underneath his ribs--what if I don't find the intercom? What if I do, but I come back and Sigi's dead? What if nobody comes to help us? Cursing underneath his breath to himself, Meer stutter-stepped forwards before heading towards the back of the kitchens, planning to sweep his way forwards--there! Thankfully, no effort was made to hide the intercom. Except Meer had no idea what to say, and he mulled over it as he inserted his Scroll, guessed (correctly) at the buttons he needed, and the speakers around campus crackled to life.

"A buddy and I, we're trapped in Beacon's cafeteria, on the third floor, surrounded by Grimm! Please, someone, come help us, otherwise we're going to die here!" The reality of their situation given voice made the student's voice shake slightly, but he kept it steady enough until the speakers went off. As soon as they did, Meer yanked his Scroll out of the slot and turned to barrel his way back into the cafeteria, immediately activating his Semblance with a shout. Which maybe wasn't the best idea, but it had been a good five minutes and Sigi probably needed a break, desperately.
(( Calm edit - Ian Temero Ian Temero Shotgunpenguin Shotgunpenguin thetasfiasco thetasfiasco seasonedcat seasonedcat ))

Of course, all of the Grimm in the area turned to face the student, but he was ready; his Semblance always gave him a huge confidence boost due to the strength it added, and honestly, staring into a Grimm's eyes was much less stressful than a huge social interaction with judgmental idiots. Fighting Grimm was easy.

Cracking a momentary grin as he reveled in his increased power, Meer spun Altewache in a cocky motion before activating the ice Dust and creating a full greatsword before barreling right into the middle of what seemed like a sea of Grimm, slashing wildly but taking several hits in the process. To engrossed in the fight to really notice anything other than his actions, reactions, the Grimm around him, and his breathing, the student just fought on furiously. Not that he would last any longer than ten, fifteen minutes at this rate, between his rapid Aura consumption and the injuries he was taking, although he was giving much more than he was getting.

Sigi was grateful for the student, and how he was willing to stay and help. It helped. It gave him confidence, and hope that when the student finally left, he would come back. Or, at least, try his hardest.

Once the student had left, Sigi focused only on defense. He dropped his handgun and picked up a chair, playing with the grimm like he was a rodeo clown, rather than an atlesian soldier who was trying to kill them. It got tougher when it got more crowded around him, though. Before long, an ursa slapped the chair out of his hands. As his pulse quickened, the flashing and blurring of his vision due to his malfunctioning robotic eye quicked to the same pace. It was driving him mad.

After successfully dodging a few blows, he couldn't take it anymore. He let a Beowolf slap him across the back, let himself tumble across the floor and under the arms and jaws of crazed grimm, and directly into a large window. It cracked, but it didn't shatter. Sigi snapped back to reality in the time between hitting the window and landing on the floor, and managed to land on his hands and knees. He dove forward, under a lunging creep, and watched as it slammed through the glass window. Sigi whipped around, and he vaulted through the open window after it.

Sigi fell freely for the whole three stories.

A vendor that was set up for the Vytal Festival broke his fall. He slammed into the fabric roof, snapping the wood that held it up instantly. His momentum carried him into the back wall, which held shelves and cabinets full of exotic foods. The splitting and snapping of the wood echoed through the small field that held the vendors.

Surprisingly, Sigi's armor prevented him from getting injured any further. It dented and cracked even more than it was before, but it held up. His head was bleeding heavily, and the cut on his hand was still oozing. But, like his armor, he was holding up surprisingly well. He just hoped the student could say the same. Sigi didn't know how long the student would look for him before he gave up and escaped. Or, how long he would last until he died. The latter seemed to be the more appropriate question.

Deciding not to let it come to that, Sigi stood and brushed himself off. All around him was a haze of grimm, sprinting by. They were all going somewhere, ignoring him completely. Very few stopped to even glance in his direction.

Sigi cursed under his breath when an idea snapped into his thoughts. Creatures of grimm flock to fear. They're running to people; all the others that wouldn't make it to the ships in time. Civilians, students, soldiers and terrorists alike. They'd keep coming until every last one of them died.

Suddenly scrambling for a weapon, Sigi sprinted over to one of the booths. He'd dropped his handgun and swapped it for a chair back in the cafeteria, so he'd take just about anything.

A Mistrillian weapons booth was the first he checked. Luckily, he wasn't too picky when it came to weapons. He snagged a rugged looking, lever-action sniper with a familiar shape and went to the back of the booth, grabbing miscellaneous dust rounds and shoving them into the gun.

The sniper itself was half-wrapped in a weather-worn canvas, to cover up the exposed atlesian mechanics underneath. In reality, it was an atlesian sniper that was heavily modified by a desperate Mistrallian arms dealer looking to make a cheap buck. Everything unnecessary was ripped out, including half the stock and the entire protective plastic exterior housing. This made it lighter, but the kick would be unbearable. It was also hastily changed to a lever-action from a bolt-action. The slot for a magazine was swapped for an underbarrel loading mechanism, which accepted most dust rounds. To accommodate this, the firing mechanism was heavily modified and the barrel was swapped. This allowed the rifle to fire nearly any caliber of dust round.

After grabbing a bag and throwing an entire shelf of dust rounds inside, he took off alongside the grimm, intent to aid anyone he could.

Not even a minute after he joined the pack, Sigi had to stop. His armor was digging into his abdomen, his hips and was compressing his chest so hard it made it hard to breathe. He stumbled into an alleyway, dropped his rifle on a crate and began coughing violently. His head was still bleeding, his augmented eye was flashing wildly and his palm was dripping blood. He planted his arm on the wall of the alley to keep himself standing upright, and felt unconsciousness tugging at him. Behind him, a herd of grimm whizzed past.
