Running against Time [ Closed ]

The moon is obscured by a sea of black clouds. The city beneath those clouds writhes with veins of bright lights, pumping cars from building to building, like blood to organs. Flashing blue and red lights converge on a singular point. A house in suburbia. A supposedly calm, crime-less neighborhood, now ravaged by the terror of murder.

Crime scene investigators, patrol officers, and firemen are sprinkled around the property, either treating the victims in shock, keeping the concerned neighbors at bay, or sifting through the house for evidence.

In the bathroom of the house sits a body. The top half of the head blown completely off with the smoking barrel of a shotgun placed delicately next to the corpse. Blood spattered against the walls and ceiling tell the gruesome tale of the dead woman. A black sedan pulls up and parks next to an ambulance. Out of the car steps two people in suits, presumably detectives.

One of them, a man in his early thirties, flags down a passing crime scene investigator.

"You two must be the detectives. Come, I'll show you what we've found."

@Stan Jones placing it here in the IC tab

The night passed like any other. The stars in the sky, but in the city, there was no way to see them. The lights of the city shone to bright and drowned out the world around it. It was almost like a bubble. For once you got out of the city the world became pitch black and peaceful.

When you reentered the city it was loud noisy and everyone was in a hurry to get anywhere and no where. Life didn't seem to slow down neither did crime. Robberies, drug deals, and murder all polluted this giant thing they called a city.

A call came in over the police scanner calling all units in the area to shots being fired. Two people drive to the scene. Out stepped a male Detective and Female Detective late 20's. They step out and show there badges.

They are lead into the crime scene and the female detective puts gloves on as she looked over the scene."someone struggled pretty hard in here" she said. This Detective was Named Samantha Del. She how ever preferred Sam or detective Del.

Entering the house, Detective Ryan could see the line of ripped carpet leading around the corner from the front door. Broken nails and blood dot each of the ripped lines as Detective Del showed Ryan and Williams to the bathroom where the gruesome slaughter took place. Bashed holes against the wall dictate that there might've been a blunt object used as a weapon before the use of the firearm, or there may have been such a fierce struggle that it knocked holes into the light green painted drywall.

Entering the bathroom, the new arrivals don latex gloves and examine every inch of the bathroom, searching for evidence.

"Well...there's abundant evidence that this was a murder, a murder someone struggled with, but why leave the gun next to the victim in a position indicating suicide?" Ryan questioned aloud, stunned at the lack of thought that went through with this crime.

(Ass face phone I wrote a post and it didn't post grr. Let me go get food I will be back and re write it)

Sam looked over what is infront of her. She squatted down and looked at the shot gun."The killer is toying with us." She said. She covered her mouth and nose."God poor girl." She said. She got up and went to check the rest of the house.

Samantha was confused why would someone do this. She sighed and bit the back of her pen. She stopped behind the couch and picked up a piece of paper."so what is she doing going to a nightclub." She said she wrote it down."we need to find out who she was. So Ryan to the nightclub?" She asked him. She sighed and thought.

Sam got in the car an put her feet up. Something about this case was bugging her. She watched the world outside. This is the second case like this and it didn't click why were they connected. Or why the killer was toying with them.

"I suppose so." Ryan sighed, stopping his examination of the corpse.

He found the victim's fingers ripped to pieces, probably from them tearing at the carpet. Contusions along the shoulders and head of the victim, and the stock of the shotgun was also stained with blood.

"Well..." Ryan stated, getting up from the corpse. "The victim must've been bashed over the head a couple of times before having her brains blown out."

He wasn't the type of guy that wasn't squeamish, but he's seen worse...smelled worse, too. Standing up, Ryan steps out into the front lawn to question the family. The doors to the ambulance are open, revealing a terrified young girl in her late teens, presumably a neighbor, wrapped in a grey blanket.

Sam sighed and got out of the passengers side. She got in the driver side and drove to the night club her partner catch up later.

She drove there and went to talk to the club owner. She sat him down and they talked for an hour. Sam looked around the club and asked some of the regulars if there was anything off about her.

Sam had actually gotten a lead and made her way to the car. She turned it on and stopped as she saw someone waiting by the back door. She frowned and sat watching for a minute. She sighed and ignored her phone going off. She finally answered it."Detective here." She said

Ryan had been sitting at the bar the whole time, talking up each of the bartenders for info...and drinks. He found out from two of the three of them that another patron of the bar had been eyeing her for the past week.

"She was telling us that she was being followed home by the same guy multiple nights in a row. Creepy lookin' guy too. Haven't seen him around until a week ago when he was givin' those looks to her."

"You know his name?"

"Nah, only thing he would say was requests for drinks. Wouldn't really talk much."

"Thanks, that's all we need to know."

Ryan made his way back to Sam as she answered her phone.

Sam got off the phone and looked at Ryan."what you find out." She asked him. Her eye's went to the back door again.

"Okay we have a suspect at the back door of the club. You can answer that question later." She said. She got out of the car and pulled her gun. She walked quietly near the suspect."police drop what your holding hands up." She said. Her gun trained on him. The man dropped it and ran. "Great" she muttered.

She ran and followed him."Why do they always run?" She said. She jumped the fence and ran after the guy. She caught him tackling him, she read him his rights as she cuffed him. She sighed and got up pulling him up."Lets go. did you really have to run?" She asked annoyed

"You have the right to remain silent, anything you say can and will be used against you." Ryan chimed in, holding one of the suspect's arms and pushing him into the detective's car.

"I heard from one of the bartenders about a suspicious looking guy who kept eyeing our dead girl for over a week before she wound up dead." He remarked as the two got in the car to drive off to the police station.
