Rocs are huge creatures, rare to find, and feared by many for their sheer power.
They are birds that tower over over men and beasts alike. They resemble raptors; mostly hawks or eagles. They are quite quick in the air, and strong as well, making them a decent match for many dragons. Rocs live in mountains, and they choose only one mate for life. They live for hundreds of years, and lay up to five eggs once every ten years. Most chicks don't make it to adulthood; some fall to their doom or die in storms; usually only one or two chicks survive, if at all.
Rocs mainly eat fish and larger mammals at times. While fishing, they would sometimes confuse a boat for a fish and would attempt to catch it, destroying the boat. Other than that, however, they are quite docile creatures unless agitated, and could be tamed using food, since they recognize faces. Usually, they are tamed by Dwarves, as means to defend themselves. They are never used for food, and are eaten only by scavengers, as they are very hard to kill, even for dragons, which they rarely engage in battle on their own.
