Zombies, walkers, biters whatever you called them, they were fictional until now. The apocalypse happened five years ago when this disease started rampaging throughout the world. RiverPoint was one of the first settlements to be made after the apocalypse but there was one thing wrong with it. It was a dictatorship until a man named Mark Rivers made a resistance named The RiverPoint Saviors and overthrew the leader. It is now winter of 2024 and Mark is the newly appointed leader of RiverPoint. It's your turn to decide what happens next.

Daniel was walking along the perimeter of Riverpoint in a thin, but very warming, black coat. "I'm so fucking glad I found this coat on some dead guy," he muttered to himself trying not to shiver. His jeans didn't keep much of the cold out when the wind blew. He continued scouting as he turned the corner towards the back of Riverpoint and noticed a tree in a familiar shape. He paused as a slight wind blew through his long black hair, staring. The tree reminded him of an ant, similar to another tree he encountered with his late boyfriend, Mark. He began to stand there reminiscing about him, when he pointed out the "ant tree", and how he- No! Stop! He thought to himself as he closed his eyes. That was a long time ago, I thought I was over him! He shook his head and continued walking. It had been five years since Daniel had to kill his boyfriend. Through the five years, and being security of RiverPoint, Daniel had gotten over the thought of his now dead ex. "Asshole left me all alone here," he muttered to himself. "Whatever, I just need to forget. Is that healthy?"

Daniel stopped to look around. "Who the hell am I talking to?" He giggled softly to himself and continued monitoring. The place was quiet, all you could hear was the wind, twigs breaking under Daniel's boots, and... a rustle in the bushes? He quickly readied his stance and placed his AR-15 up to his shoulder in aim slowly taking three steps forward. "Show yourself," he ordered on the first step. Nothing happened and Daniel turned off the safety on his gun. By the time he reached his third step, a rabbit jumped out sniffing the ground around it. "Stupid thing," Daniel grumbled as he lowered his gun and cocked his head. "You are very cute. You should probably run along before someone comes and kills you for dinner." He bent down to pick up a small rock and tossed it towards the rabbit bouncing it off it's rear. The impact startled the rabbit and it took off back where it came from. Daniel smiled softly and continued to walk along the perimeter of the base. "I'm just glad it wasn't a person," he stated turning his safety back on.

Mark stood there on the balcony and Looked around at the center of RiverPoint. He looked at his people, thriving, surviving and he smiled. He was proud of RiverPoint and its success. He walked down off the balcony and into the center of RiverPoint. He heard a young man start talking. He looked over to the young man and saw he had his gun pointed at something. Mark started to walk over to him but saw the young man had put his gun away and had threw a rock at something. He walked over to him and looked over his shoulder and saw a rabbit scurrie away. "You know you are very kind for letting that rabbit go. That could have been someones dinner."

As Daniel continued walking, he was startled to see Mark Rivers, the leader of RiverPoint, standing over him. "Oh," he gasped standing up straight, "I'm sorry sir, it was just very adorable." The man was very intimidating in Daniel's eyes. He never really had spoken to Mark face to face; it was always during meetings or a wave here and there passing each other. "I know that was a stupid answer," he continued, "but with all the killings and zombies everywhere, I forgot how simple things could be." Daniel felt embarrassed and shamed, as if he should have shot the rabbit and brought it in. Geez, he thought to himself, the apocalypse has been really kind to him; he's freakin' fit for an old dude. Daniel noticed mark didn't so much as flinch when a large gust of freezing wind blew passed them. Daniel, however, flinched holding his gun close as if the wind was about to take it away. "I'm very sorry Mr. Rivers," he started again, "I can go retrieve it, if you want. I'm sure it left a small path that'll let me track it."

Jack limped down the main street, due to the injury he sustained on the previous mission. It's just a minor ankle sprain, but was enough to take him off his feet for a week. Ashley, our medic here at RiverPoint, put him on light duty until further notice. He has had a little bit of time to mingle with the town and meet some of the newcomers.

As Jack is strolling down the path, he notices Mark and Daniel chatting. He starts to approach, but suddenly Natalya appears. He walks up to Nat and greets her. "Hey Nat. How'd the rest of that mission go yesterday? Did you find anything of use after I decided to injure myself and had to head back?"

"I understand, and There's no need to go catch the rabbit As I said you are very kind for letting it go. Any other man would have shot and killed it." Mark said with a reassuring smile. "So, has the perimeter been safe? Have any Biters been walking around? I have not seen one in a while. I might go with the scavengers next time they go out, I may be an old man but I dont want to forget how to protect myself!" Mark then looked at the ground and then began to think of the time he was in the resistance and how he overthrew the leader, and how his people are now happy and healthy. It was too good to be true. He knew something was bound to happen at some point.

Daniel smiled softly as Mark understood. It was nice to know the leader wasn't much of an ass. "The perimeter is secure, sir," he nodded. It was a little strange that nothing had happened yet, Daniel thought to himself. The only time something had happened was one biter with no legs. It wasn't very action packed, all Daniel did was stab it in the head. "I think the last time something big happened," Daniel muttered, "was when that small hoard came passing by RiverPoint." The small hoard wasn't anything crazy, they just walked by and only one of the zombies strayed towards the camp. Daniel giggled softly as Mark mentioned wanting to go scavenging again, which made made Daniel wonder how the outside looked again. It was awhile since he had been to the streets himself. Noticing Mark thinking to himself, Daniel tried to break the silence. "Just don't go breaking a hip on us," he joked and then flinched hoping he didn't offend the leader. "I'm sorry if that was offensive, I was only... Um..."

"It's fine, I probably would anyway." Mark said with a chuckle. "But i do have one question. How well do you think I am doing as the leader here? To be honest I dont know." Mark then started thinking about how every time he would go to greet his people they would always be nervous around him. Mark doesn't see himself as this all and powerful leader. Mark is just like everyone else just trying to survive in this unforgiving world. Mark was to lost in thought to realize there was several groans from Biters heading toward RiverPoint.

Daniel smiled softly in relief that Mark didn't take his joke serious. He was then taken back at the doubt Mark showed in his leadership. "I actually think you're doing great," he shrugged. "You're not becoming a dictator like the last guy. Well, honestly, I was only present at the small end of his reign." Daniel turned his head as he heard something. "Do you hear that?" He asked confused. Lifting his gun to his shoulder, he jumped in front of Mark to protect him. Daniel was security, his priority was to keep everyone safe even if his life depended on it. He tried so hard to care for his own life, but doesn't anymore every since his family and love were now dead. "Sir, biters!" He announced calm and collected as the small group grew near while he took the safety off his weapon. I'm sure he can protect himself, Daniel thought, but that doesn't mean I shouldn't do my job. Aiming steadily and waiting for a closer target, he shot three rounds through the chest and two in the head of on zombie and two in the the head of another. Daniel maintained a steady grip on his AR-15 as it pushed into his shoulder. No fear, nor panic, only focus and dedication to keeping the ones of RiverPoint alive and their leader as well. He killed two more biters, missed a few shots and quickly reloaded his weapon aiming at the small group again. "I can handle this is if you wish to alert the others," Daniel mentioned.

"Yes, your right I'll go alert everyone!" Mark said as he started running towards the balcony that overlooked the center of RiverPoint. Once he got to the balcony he started yelling, "Everyone! There is a herd of Biters heading here, Return to your homes immediately!" Mark then looked at his second of command down below talking to one of the scavengers. "Jack! Make sure everyone gets to their homes! Now!" He then started yelling again saying, "I need anyone willing and able to help our security take down this herd!." Mark then sprinted back to Daniel and asked, "How many do you think there are? This looks like a pretty big size herd."

Jack yells back to Mark "This is your town and they need you safe. Im going to have to request that you escort these people and yourself to safety." Also jokingly he adds "A hobbled me is still a better shot than you old man." Jack quickly hurries to Mark and pulls him out of the combat as he pulls his AR from his shoulder, switches off his safety and starts taking down the biters one by one.

Jack looks to Daniel and says "Let's send these assholes back to their graves."

Daniel reloaded his gun after killing four more zombies and heard Mark speak. "I counted twelve," he started as he slowly started backing up, "but more began to appear from behind the trees." Daniel focused and counted the zombies with his peripheral vision as he aimed his gun subtracting the ones he started to kill and killed already. It was like a river pooled over a ravine, they kept coming closer and closer. It was mostly due to the loud noise the gun made that attracted others. "So far I counted 52," he stated then killing another. "51. But I'm not sure if they're all on this side of RiverPoint. I could be wrong, but there may be some more on the other side. 50." Daniel had only one clip left for his rifle and four for his Makarov.

Jack ended up forcing Mark to do the job he was suppose to for safety purposes and began helping Daniel. "You go it!" He smirked in reply to Jack's comment. Daniel began shooting along with Jack as Mark was pushed back. 49, 48, 47- and half. Daniel shoots a legless zombie and uses the last four shots on one more. 46. He pulls his Makarov out from his holster and placed his AR-15 on the ground next to him as he continued to shoot. "I'm still not sure if they're all on this side," He mentioned to Jack. Jack was very dedicated seeing as how injured he was, but Daniel still kept his eye on him in case anything got too close. There's too many that getting close to the camp, he thought to himself as he shot another. 44, but we need to see if there are any on the other side. Hopefully none or at least ten. 43.

"Fine, but while I'm getting everyone to safety I'll see if there are any more on the other side!" Mark then sprinted towards the center of RiverPoint and proceeded to check if everyone had made it to their homes. It seemed like everyone was in their homes so Mark went to the other side of RiverPoint and looked to see if there was any more Biters. "Holy Shit." Mark said taken aback by how many were on the other side. There had to be at least another 60 on this side. Mark then turned around and ran to the balcony and started yelling where everyone could hear him, even if they were in their homes. "Alright people! There are one hundred Biters surrounding RiverPoint! Our home is in danger! I need every man that is able, to grab a weapon and start taking down these bastards!" Mark started seeing men come out of their homes with weapons and Mark looked at them and nodded.

Author's note: This all happened slightly before the fiasco with the biters, the chaos will be beneficial to them integrating with the local populace.
It was a beautiful, albeit cold, spring morning, a day where one can almost forget the horrors on Earth by losing themselves in the clouds; a perfect day, a day that would not be ruined by anything...well almost anything. On the grounds around RiverPoint, Steven, a fresh-faced kid just barely out of high school, was lost in thought leaning comfortably in a chair in his modest guard shack when a loud snap broke his reverie. Shaking hands took the remaining earbud out of his ear, and he meekly stood up to take a look. Elbows locked and hands dripping sweat, Steven nervously raised his pistol towards the apparent source of sound. "Who's there?" A quick and well-placed arrow landed with a thump in the middle of Steven's forehead in response, splattering brains and blood across the wooden interior of the hut. Poor kid never even saw it coming.

On the other side of the arrow, about 50 yards away, stood a small group of well armed men dressed in combat fatigues. They had already put Steven's mangled corpse out of their minds, and were expertly scanning the foliage for the next target. Seeing no other guards, they released the prearranged signal, they were in.

Jack realizes that this is a tough situation they are in with the limited ammo Daniel and him have. When Jack is in RiverPoint he carries his AR15 with him but doesn't make it a point to carry a ton of ammo. You just don't expect this kind of situation. Jack has killed about a dozen biters at this point when he realizes he only has one magazine left (he only brought two). The injury is affecting him more than he had thought.

Jack counts the amount of biters still around and counts 26 left. He mentions to Daniel "We've still got 26 left. And I've only got about a clip left. Make the shots count here. Can't waste any rounds." Jack hears Mark yelling that there are more on the backside. Jack goes back to Daniel "It looks like Mark has gotten some of the town members to grab guns and fight these biters off."

Daniel heard the scream from town as Mark stated there were more on the other side. Shit, he thought to himself. He heeded Jack's words and made sure not to just fire, but to focus on each shot. Reloading his gun quickly, he noticed Jack was a bit off. "We almost got this!" he announced. The continued to fire make sure not to miss as Daniel could feel his adrenaline rushing now. He wasn't scared, or panicking, he was nervous. Nervous because this small group that's left is wasting their ammo when there are more on the other side. Soon the group that was 26 now became four as the ammo he and Jack had was depleted. Daniel looked at Jack and remembered his injury. "Are you okay?" he asked concern. Daniel had one bullet left, he always remembers to count what he has, and shot a biter closest to Jack. "We have to hurry," he continued, "there are more on the other side and my other ammunition is inside my room." He placed his gun back in his holster, pulled his combat knife from his boot and stabbed a zombie in the head. The momentum he exerted forced him to the ground on top of the zombie he just killed as he got up, yanked the knife from it's skull running to the second and stabbing that one in the head as well. The blade was now stuck as the last zombie fell on top of him. Daniel struggled as the zombie atop him was flailing to try and eat him. "Jack help!" He called as he grabbed a a broken tree branch and held it against the zombie. "My knife is stuck in that biter's head!"

sjt530 sjt530

Mark knew they could get through this. With a little bit of teamwork they could win. Before Mark left the balcony he grabbed his desert eagle and got as much ammo as he could. When he got off the balcony he rallied up the men that had decided to fight the Biters off. They went to the other side of RiverPoint and got into a formation and started shooting at the Biters. Mark shot two Biters in the head and he counted at least 50 left thanks to the help of the other men. They kept shooting until Mark counted 15. Mark shoots another two in the head. 13. "They are almost all gone! Just keep shooting!" He yelled at the men as he shot another two more. 11. Mark only had two bullets left so he tried to shoot two more. He shot the first one in the head but missed the second one's head. "I'm out!" He yelled as he took out his knife and stabbed the one he missed in the head.

Jack and Daniel continued to kill biters until they were down to 4 as Jack ran out of ammo. He heard Daniel ask if he was ok, to which he responded "Yes, I think I am fine." Daniel mentioned his extra ammo in his room. "I've got more mags in my room as well, but we need to hurry." I said as he shot a biter only 7ft from me. He watches Daniel with his incredible knife skills and strength as he almost stabs completely through the first biter taking himself down onto the dead body. Again he does the same to the next, only this time the last living biter manages to take him down. He calls for my help as he tries to fight the biter off.

I pull out my trench knife and run (sorta) to where they are on the ground. I kick the biter off, using my bad ankle, and then climb over the biter and jam the knife into the side of his head. Man, I forget how easy this knife goes through them. Like cutting butter. Jack goes over and offers Daniel a hand and gets him back to his feet. "You ok Daniel?" He then feels the pain in his ankle as the adrenaline starts to wear off. He then remembers the biters on the other side of the town. He then sternly tells Daniel "Ok, go to your room and grab as much ammo as you can hold and head over and help out. Im going to grab my ammo and see you there."

Ashley had been standing in the clinic, taking stock of what was left. "I'm gonna need to ask someone for more gauze, and some more painkillers wouldn't hurt..." She said to herself, that's when the first shots rang out. She heard some high caliber gunfire and some shouting, to which she quickly rushed out, her Beretta in hand as she rushed up toward Daniel, Jack, and Mark. "Holy shit, that's alot..." She muttered, then quickly checked to make sure she had her field bag on her. Incemthat was affirmed she did a small nod and looked to Mark. "Where am I needed, sir?" She asked Mark.

(Don't expect much after this, I had a break from family)

Daniel continued to struggle with zombie on the other side of the broken tree branch he had. Some of the zombie's spit oozed down on Daniel's cheek until Jack kicked the thing off and stabbed it in the side. "Nasty," he muttered wiping the spit off. Jack held out a hand to Daniel and helped him up. "My savior," Daniel smiled jokingly. "I'm fine, but you should really take it easy or get a chair. I don't know how your much your ankle can take." Jack sounded as if he pushed Daniel's concern aside as he ordered to get his ammunition while he picked up his AR-15. "Yes sir," Daniel rolled his eyes. As he ran towards his room, he began to think; Jack was similar to what Daniel would do. No matter what injury, there's no excuse to keep going, to keep living. The only difference Daniel thought of was how he didn't care if he himself lived or not, as long as everyone was safe, he was fine. He ran into his room, loaded his AR and Makarov, and grabbed some more of loaded clips for the weapons he's holding. I can't just leave him behind, he thought to himself, but I can't leave the whole town either. Once Daniel ran out of his room, he searched for Jack to make sure he was fine and headed towards the other side of RiverPoint where Mark and the others were. He aimed his gun towards the target of fire and searched. "So how many are left, sir?" He asked Mark.

((We're twinsies; we have the same gun, haha. XD))

Mark looked at the medic and said, "I need you to check if those injured over there have bites on them or they are just cuts. That's all I need at the moment." He then heard Daniel ask him how many there were left. "Nothing we cant handle from this point on but if you want an exact number i would say about eight or nine. We have not had a herd come here like this in nearly four years!" He exclaimed. Mark then put his desert eagle that had no ammo left in his holster. "I'm just glad the worst is over." He said sighing. Mark then looked at Jack and Daniel and asked, "Are you two okay? Any Bites or cuts? If you have some cuts I'll have the medic take a look."

Jack hurried to his as fast as his ankle allowed him to, and reloaded his AR15. Grabbed 3 more clips and hurried out to the other side of the town just behind Daniel. He arrived and heard Mark say there were roughly 8 more left. Mark asked if we were ok, to which I replied "Yes sir. Ankle is a little banged up, but other than that I am ok."

As they took care of the last of the biters Jack had to ask "Does anyone have any idea what attracted them here. Is it something we are doing that brought them here? Also, with those gunshots we may need extra detail on security for the remainder of the day. I can pair with Daniel on one side, just need to grab a chair to get off this ankle."

Thinking about the fight they just dealt with he realized how great it is to have Daniel here. He is turning out to be a very loyal and respected member of this town. Jack wonders if there is a possibility of making him the leader of our security team. This is something he will need to confide with Mark about but now isnt the time.

Jack whispers to Mark, "Sorry about commanding you back into town, but I felt like our people needed you safe. Also Daniel and I were very capable of handling that group with our two ARs. Also, tonight we need to discuss Daniel. I have some things to bring up."

Daniel and Jack took care of the other eight as Mark asked if they were fine. He ignored his question until the last zombie was down and placed his AR over his shoulder. "Just some biter drool, but nothing that was hazardous to my health," he smiled. It was nice to know it was over, but it was also nice to pour out his built up anger. That isn't healthy, either, he thought to himself showing no sign of distress. Daniel listened to Jack's request of tighter security for the rest of the day and he looked at Mark with a facial gesture trying to say "his ankle" and hoping Mark understood the concern he showed. Just because Jack proves he'd never give up doesn't mean he should cause further injury to his ankle. After that, Daniel began looking around searching for anything that could have caused something for the zombies to appear. "Could it be we were being loud?" He asked referring to Jack's question. "That or they were just passing through. We have seen them move from time to time." Daniel wasn't sure what could have caused it either. Jack began to whisper to Mark and Daniel didn't want to eavesdrop so he turned to find anything useful on the zombies. A few matches, some flashlights and batters, and a patch. Daniel noticed a body with fighting gear as his attire. "Hey guys," Daniel called to Mark and Jack. He moved to show the body in combat gear. "You think this guy was a collector before the virus?" He questioned. "I mean, I haven't heard of any other settlements nearby. Think that could be how he survived for so long?"

Ashley gives off a slight nod, proceeding to check those with injuries. Luckily, none had any bites, and she sent them off to thier homes. Ashley then returned and proceeding to check the other's. "No bites, anyone?" She asked the trio, then turned to Jack. "How's that ankle? If I find it got worse I'm gonna have to confine you to your home, Jack." She said, with an almost motherly tone. "And as far as this horde is, I think it was just luck, they happened to blow through towards us, is all." She suggested.

Jack stood there listening to all of the chitter chatter going on. As Daniel called him and Mark over Jack heard Ashley ask him about his ankle. Jack being the guy he is, couldn't lie and says "To be honest, it hurts. It was fine until I kicked that biter off of Daniel. I didn't mean to use that foot, but he was in a tough situation and needed help. Until then, it has been sore, but feeling a lot better."

Jack knows how much of a long term risk it is doing all of this with a bad ankle. However, he doesn't want to let anyone down or have people feelong like he doesn't belong in the position he is. Unlike Mark, he was not appointed second in command by his peers. It was Mark who have him that honor. Jack wants to show RiverPoint this is deserved. Being a football and baseball player in high school also built his pain tolerance up as well. Athletes have to deal with the pain and push through. Jack still has this mentality.
