-Georgia O'Keeffe

basics
English Name:
Margret Lee
Korean Name:
Lee Mi-Young
Nicknames:
Maggie is her most common nickname, it's used more often than her real name. Sometimes she's called Mi-ah, but that's a name of the past.
Age:
32
Gender:
Female
Sexuality:
Heterosexual
D.O.B:
Nov. 21st
P.O.B
Seoul, South Korea
Occupation:
Freelance Artist
Face Claim:
Jung So-Min

Hair:
Maggie used to wear her black hair short for a long time. Cutting it was almost like an act of rebellion when she moved out and went to art school. She has kept it long for the past few years. It may not be her favorite, but her fiance likes it better long.
Eyes:
Nothing super special here, Maggie inherited her parents dark brown, almost black, eye color. When she was younger she'd wish for blue or green eyes because they were cool. She stopped dreaming for the sudden mutation before high school.
Body Type:
She was never known for being a curvy woman. Mi-Young often said that she had the least amount of curves to be considered female. She could also be quoted with saying "I may not have a butt, but at least I have boobs." She is about average height, just slightly below, at 5' 3", but she wears the occasional high heal when she feels the want to be taller. Since turning thirty, much to her dismay, Maggie gained a few pounds. She looks, and is, healthy, so that's all that really matters.
Style:
Since becoming "more refined" as her parents would put it, Maggie has adopted a more up-class look. If she is eventually going to play the part of rich man's wife, she may as well look like one. Before her style was definitely more eclectic and more on the revealing side. She was not afraid to push the envelope when it came to what she wore. Just how she used an abundance of color and styles in her artwork, she would often experiment with different clothes. Her looks were much more whimsical and fun. Apparently now, since she's into her third decade, she has to be an adult. Her wardrobe now has more jumpsuits, dresses, and business casual attire. Sleek lines and a more refined color palette. Not that she still doesn't enjoy what she used to wear, it's just now she feels she has a certain standard to uphold.

Persona
Personality:
As a young person she was spontaneous and incredibly energetic. Her nights were usually spent out with friends, never liking to really be alone. Maggie had such a free spirit that absolutely no one could contain. Fiercely independent, rules and guidelines were a no go for her. Anyone was free to give her a direction, but if you tried to micromanage or hold back her creativity, you were about to get an earful. Maggie may have hated to be put under someone's thumb, but this didn't come with selfishness or an aggressive nature. No. Mi-Young had, and still has, a strong sense of empathy. Her heart was often too big for her own body. Incredibly kind and caring towards everyone. Her view of the world has always been idealistic. Her optimistic look into the world caused her to always look ahead, see the big picture rather than focusing on the here and now. She always tried to see the best in people. Normally, though, her plans never came to fruition. Ideas sketched down on a pad of paper never becoming reality because of her procrastination. It was a wonder she ever finished projects on time.

Maybe the world finally got to Ms. Maggie Lee. Since life has told her she needs to grow up and take her head out to the clouds, she's become a bit more quiet. Not that she's lost her outgoing tenancies or her charm, but they have most definitely been toned down. She sometimes feels trapped at home. The girl who always had a huge circle of friends now feels alone in a crowded room. She continues to hope. Hope that she'll make better friends who actually care about her and not her fiance's money or socialite status. Hope that her mother and father see her success in the art world as something more than just a childish dream. Hope that Daniel, her fiance, would open up again and things would go back to the way they were. With the right people, maybe that passionate and energized girl she once was would return and help her to realize that her current warped fantasy isn't what she really wants.

Hobbies:
Funnily enough, Mi-Young will often still give tours at the museum she used to work at during school. She loves to pass on new knowledge and inspire others to love art as much as she does. It helps her pass the time and gives her a little extra pocket change, even if she doesn't need it.

Fears:
Maggie is afraid of heights. Anything high up will scare her so much. Going on a ferris wheel? No thank you. Roller coasters? Nuh uh. If it involves being high in the air, count her out.
History
Background:
Mi-Young was four when her family moved from Seoul, South Korea to Chicago, Illinois. Her father was transferred to start a new branch of the company he worked for. So the family, consisting of her parents, her older brother, and herself, packed up and moved to accommodate her father's promotion. The family was always well off, not exactly rich but not poor by any means. Both parents had high expectations for their children. Knowing that their children were intelligent, they always pushed for their excellence. In a way, Maggie had always appreciated that her parents thought highly of her. That was until she found her passion. At a very young age, Mi-Young had shown artistic talent. Her art teacher in 8th grade said her work was extraordinary. Not only was she good at it, she loved it. She loved to paint her heart out. She spent hours painting on canvas. Buying her own paint supplies since her parents saw no need to get them for her.

Her parents still pushed her to go to medical school or to law school. The pressure became immense her senior year of high school. They started applying to colleges for her and telling her she needed to study hard. But she didn't want to go to school to become a doctor or a lawyer. Mi-Young wanted to be an artist. She wanted her passion to be her job. When she had told her parents this, they laughed at her, thinking it was a joke. Then they yelled at her when the realized she was very serious. They told her that being an artist wasn't a job. That she would never make it. They told her that she would live a poor life. They told her that if she went to art school that they would never pay for it and she would have to make her own way. So she did. Mi-Young applied to the Chicago College of art for Fine Arts. She was immediately accepted.

Going to art school was the best decision of her life. She loved the fun and exciting atmosphere. Her parents weren't breathing down her neck, even if they had slightly disowned her. Maggie was happy, following her passion and allowed to be as free as she wanted. In order to pay her way through college, she got a job at a museum as a receptionist. Mi-Young had a good group of friends who liked to go out fairly often. There was one college party where she had been ditched by the majority of her friends and was left alone. That was the night she met Hiroshi. The pair instantly hit it off. She couldn't help but develop a crush on him. He was just so annoyingly great. So eventually the pair started to date.

Mi-Young fell madly in love with Hiro. Although she will never admit it, being with him were the best years of her life. She was the absolute happiest during that time. He completed her life, he made her feel whole. That was until he was torn away from her. Hiroshi was, and still is, an amazing dancer. He caught the attention of a lot of companies, including one of the best international performance teams in the world. She couldn't hold him back, this was his dream. She could only imagine how she would feel if she had been given an offer like his and never took it because of him. Maggie would rather give him up than have him resent her for the rest of their lives. Even if they ended things, it wasn't because she didn't love him. No it was because she loved him more than herself.

They continued to be friends after that. Heck, they knew everything about each other. They were best friends as much as they were lovers. Then things changed again. Hiro's sister passed away. She knew how devastated he would be, because she herself was as well. She rushed to his side to comfort him and help him through this hard time. But then something happened. She feels that they made a mistake. They slept together. After the night they spent together, he pushed her away. Mi-Young could only see that as the cause. Instead of making things better, she felt she only made them worse. Again, she felt heart broken over him. They haven't spoken since. Maggie never even tried to get in touch with him, assuming that he'd never want anything to do with her again.

About a year later, she met Daniel. Mi-Young had started her own small free-lance company. She did a lot of portraits and work for offices. Daniel Cartwright was a successful young CEO of his own company. He was opening an office in Chicago and wanted a local artist to add decor to the space. So he hired Maggie. He was very nice and a gentleman. When she was finished, he even gave her a big tip. A few weeks later he contacted her again to do a project for his home office. Then he hired her a third time for some other painting he wanted. He finally confessed after they met up in person to exchange his third order that the reason he had hired her so many times was because he really liked her. They had spent quite a few hours on video call to talk about inspiration and things like that. They had somewhat gotten to know each other over the past few months and Maggie thought, what the heck, may as well date him.

That was 4 years ago. They have since moved into a giant apartment in the city, Daniel's company is booming, and Mi-Young is finding a lot of success as an artist. Her parents are really happy with her choice of marriage mate. Maggie has finally seemed to redeem herself in her parent's opinion. He recently proposed to her about 6 months ago and the couple has yet to set a date. He has been rather distant, for the past year his distance has grown. They don't talk very often because he is gone on business. But Maggie knows she still loves him. She's tried so hard up till this point to keep them together, how can she give up now?
Relationships
Kwang-Sik Lee
-Father (61)

Maggie's relationship with her father has not been an easy one. He had an obvious preference for her older brother from the get go. The man was always working, though he was home on nights and weekends, he was never really home. He isn't exactly the warmest person, he comes off as cold and calculated to most people. It's probably why his daughter and him always seemed to butt heads. He wanted her to act prim and proper and she wanted nothing more than to be a wild child. His goal was always to pull her head out of the clouds. Ever since the beginning of her relationship with Daniel, he's seemed to soften some. He is still very stoic and closed off. Maggie doesn't believe she will ever be close to her father.

Min-Jung Lee
-Mother (57)

While she may be the warmer of the two parents, Maggie often wished that her mother would keep her opinions to herself. She is extremely vocal about her ideas concerning her children's, and other's, lives. She often expected nothing but nagging to come from her mother whenever she visited. Comments about her hair, her outfit, her 'terrible life choices', and her love life. There always seems to be something bothering her. If it isn't Maggie, it's her brother Matt, if it isn't those two, it's one of the other rich ladies at her bridge club. She cannot believe that her father has been married to the woman for so long. The only time she doesn't complain is when Daniel is around. Actually, it's almost as if she loves her fiance more than her own daughter. When he isn't around, Min-Jung is always asking about him and telling Maggie to take better care of him. Sure, Mi-Young loves her mother, but she can only take some much.

Matthew Lee
-Brother (36)

The golden child. The Lee who could do no wrong. You'd think that the pair would have never gotten along due to Matt's ability to make their parents swoon. Though that wasn't the case. Maggie and her older brother were very close growing up. He was gentle and funny. He just had a personality that was easy to bond with. Unlike his younger sister, he had no backbone. He was unable to say no to their parents. Matt always encouraged her to be the one to stand up to them. He eventually went off to medical school and became a general surgeon because of their pressure, even if he always wanted to go into music. The two remained semi-close after he left home. It was when he graduated and got married that things changed. He soon became a father to, now, 7 and 4 year old girls. Matt had just become too busy to really spend time with his younger sister. His favored spot with their parents was soured just two years ago when he got a divorce from his wife. Which put more pressure on her own relationship to succeed.

Daniel Cartwright
-Fiance (33)

Daniel really was the perfect boyfriend. A true gentleman, almost prince-like in charm and romantic gestures. Maggie never thought she could fall in love ever again. Yet she did. Even if he was away, he always made time for her. Video chats and phone calls were welcomed distractions. They'd go on weekend trips or go out for a nice dinner. She isn't quite sure when or why things changed, but they did. His calls became less frequent. Their dates had more time between them. They saw each other less and less. Suddenly, the kind and outgoing person she once knew, seemed to only be that in public. With her, he became more closed off, quiet, and temperamental. Maggie has tried her hardest to keep them together, and she really thought it was working when he proposed to her 6 months ago. Now the couple has yet to set a date. Daniel seems to never be around, and when he is, she feels like she's living with a stranger. But she still loves him. She knows that. If she still loves him that's enough. Right?

Tanaka Hiroshi
-Ex-Boyfriend (32)

Maggie considers Hiro her first love. She had boyfriends before him, but they were never serious. Meeting him felt like fate. She spent countless hours with him. Either having a blast, because both of them knew how to party, or just talking. It wasn't hard to fall in love with him. They just seemed so perfect for each other. Looking back, some of her best memories were with Hiroshi. Giving him up was probably the hardest thing she ever had to do. Maggie used to wonder what would have been if they had never broken up. In all honesty she thought he was the one. After their breakup it was hard for awhile. A long while. She never really considered herself over him for a very long time. Then his sister died. Maggie would have flown halfway across the world to be there for him. She couldn't imagine the pain Hiro was going through. Now she thinks she had only made things worse. At the time, judgement clouded by sadness and a bit of champagne, she thought maybe them sleeping together would bring some sort of comfort. Something in the familiarity and stability of it all. Apparently that wasn't the case since they haven't seen or spoken to each other in 5 years. Maggie, every once and awhile, still thinks of him, normally when she sees something that reminds her of Hiro. She wonders how he is. What he has been doing. If he's found peace with the loss of his sister. Most of all, she wishes she could have helped him. She isn't quite sure how things would go if they ever bumped into each other. If they did, Maggie would hope that he'd be happy to see her, because she would be happy to see him after all those years.
