Realistic or Modern Regis Academy ➳ Once Great, Now Broke and Desperate (OPEN)

Regis Academy

A once successful school that is now on it's last leg.

Located on Mount Desert Island off the coast of Maine, it looks as old as one would imagine. Due to the recent lack of funds and enrollment, the prestigious school has opened it's applications to a wider demographic, no longer just accepting the children of elite and high class families.

This year, with an increased student population, the school is put to its limits in various ways.

With old students, relationships, academics, and ideas come to clash with the new life in the halls. Welcoming or not, a new wave is rushing over the old campus.

Where are you in the mix of old and new?

(Hi howdy hello please dont post fun things here until I post the first fun thing after this I hope thats okay ahh)

Friday, 9:00 AM

It's move in day at Regis Academy. Cars are pulled up as close as they can get outside the academy fences. Parents and students, new and returning, share the large walkway into the yard, and then take their respective paths to the various dorm buildings. The weather is cloudy, some say that there is a storm on the way, others say it's going to be a light shower. Found within the quad is a low, poorly hung banner promoting a meet and greet within the student union. There's free cookies and punch there, along with maps of the school.

With classes starting Monday, excitement fills the air.

A young man, wearing a black dress shirt, jeans, and ostrich made boots. He sat in his car, a Jeep Wrangler, watching the business unfold around him. Parents dropping their precious children off to Regis. His father never did that. Fuck him. Anyways the name of this man, Jamie Kirk. Son of oil phalaropist, Daniel Kirk. He glanced down at his watch, 9:00, he needed to get out. He removed the keys, shoved them in his pocket, and slid out of the blue jeep. He made his way to the back, and opened it, removing 2 large suitcases. One which held his clothes, and the other his athletic equipment. He threw his travel backpack on his shoulder, and extended the handles to roll his bag.

Dakota Reed

Dakota pulled the last of her bags into her dorm room, up three flights of stairs and down the hall. She could already feel her calf muscles were going to be sore tomorrow. She felt lucky to be in Hart Hall again, having spent the entire summer dreading the possibility of being in Osborne, she faced the window and opened the cheap blinds. She took a deep breath, this was a new year. It would be a new start for her, she was determined to leave her freshman year behind, and it'd be easier now with so many new students coming into Regis. Saving her unpacking for later, she walked out of Hart Hall and back out to the quad. She didn't exactly know what to do from this point on, she didn't exactly have any friends to go and say hi to as they arrived and unpacked. She found a bench on the quad and had luckily packed the book she was reading in her purse, and in no time she was sitting with her legs up on the bench and reading, getting lost in her own world and leaving the bustle of move-in day.

Madison Prescott

Madison had spent the entire morning unpacking, having flown in earlier this morning, or what some people would consider last night. It'd be a lie to say she wasn't excited. She was finally an upperclassman, and just like the last few years at Regis, she was determined to make the most of it. Her room in Hart Hall was coming together, her clothing already put away, string lights and curtains hung, she even had already put up the last few touches with posters on her walls. It was amazing, everything she fit in her bags. She still had smaller details and touches to put up as well, but she could hear even from the second story how populated the campus was become. She checked her phone to see if anyone texted her about meeting up, and sighed when she hadn't gotten a message yet. She wasn't about to go texting other people first, though. Feeling stir crazy and excited, she stepped in front of her mirror and checked her outfit. She ran a hand over her skater skirt's hemline, and slowly turned, making sure everything look just right. She was already wearing a light pair of tights under her skirt, anticipating the rain to bring in colder weather already. Feeling satisfied, she left her dorm and began walking to the Academic building, planning to meet new faces at the Student Union.

"Jamie!" Madison yelled, seeing him across the quad. She smiled, and then her eyes widened. Was Courtney still dating Jamie? Madison cussed under her breath. She had already began running towards him anyway, it shouldn't be that bad just to say hi. She put on a smile and forced her excitement to show. "It's been so long! How are you?" She continued, opening her arms for a hug as she approached him.

David Reyes-Shaw

David, being the headmaster's son, had already been here for a week. He had moved into Osborne early, and spent his downtime alone on campus hiking through the forest at the back of campus, and occasionally through the national park as well. Today, though, he was going to stay right on campus. Pumped to see old faces and new, he was already at the Student Union talking idly with people he barely knew. After finishing his last conversation with some new girl, he took a break from socializing and sat back on one of the couches there. He wasn't exactly sure what to expect this year, and he wasn't sure if he wanted to really find out. He ran his hands through his hair, deep in thought. His head always circled back to Madison, he was finally going to see her for the first time after the break up. He wished he was home again in Corpus Christi, and not within a five mile radius of Madison. He sighed, pulling his phone out of his dark jean pockets. Looking around, to check to see if anyone was watching, he opened the front face camera and checked how he looked. The red and black plaid flannel complimented his skin and fit him well, but he still looked so small. He bit his lip, putting his phone back in his pocket. It was only a matter of time until they ran into eachother. David stood up, planning to get his mind off her by mingling more within the union.

"Madi Prescott!" He said letting go of his bags, and embracing her hug. After a brief moment, he released her, and smiled. "Ready to get wasted, and have the best year here yet? I've got plans for this year, it's gonna be great!" He began heading inside, knowing Madison would probably follow him. As he entered, he spotted David. He waved to him, even though he wasn't in sports, or his dorm, he wasn't a bad guy. Just a little extroverted, nothing he couldn't fix.

Madison giggled, hearing his excitement. Just as he expected, she did follow him inside the building. "I can't wait to hear all about these plans. How long until the first party, you think?" She continued, smiling as she walked beside him now. It wasn't until long before Madison spotted David herself. She tried not to show the look on her face, and cover it up with another excited smile, but it must have looked forced for sure this time. "David! Hey!" She shouted, waving to him.

David looked over at the entrance and smiled at Jamie. He didn't know too much about him, but the guy knew how to have a good time. David began walking over to him to make small talk and his eyes widened as Madison greeted him as well. He didn't see her walk in with Jamie, and he didn't expect it either. He suddenly looked tense, trying his best to smile in return to the duo. "Madison, Jamie." He began, his laugh nervous, "I've never seen the union this crowded." He ran a hand through his hair, it was his coping mechanism when he got nervous. He couldn't even look at Madison, he kept his eyes on Jamie and the crowd around them at all times. "See anyone else yet? The gates close at 6 today, so everyone should be moved in by then and the campus will die down a little." He could feel Madison's eyes on him.

Madison smiled, "Jamie was the first person I ran into!" She answered, putting a hand on his shoulder. "Well, did you run into anyone we know on the way in? I got here super early. The campus was dead, so I haven't seen anyone!"

Courtney stretched her arms up on the bus as it drive over the familiar road to Regis Academy. It had been a long morning already, she had to wake up at 4am and had to keep switching buses, almost getting on the wrong one heading the polar opposite direction. As soon as she saw the familiar entrance to what felt like her second home her lips curled into an excited smile. She couldn't wait to see Madison, it felt like forever since they last saw each other. The only downside would be seeing Jamie but she pushed that to the back of her mind for now.

She practically jumped off the bus with her backpack and didn't wait for the driver to get her suitcases. She pulled out two large zebra print wheeled suitcases and dragged them behind her into the academy. She got her dorm information and walked to Hart Hall. She stepped inside her new room, it was so bright and inviting. She dropped one suitcase onto the floor, her suitcase just for shoes, and the other one onto her bed. She stuck up a bunch of Polaroids nature pictures from summer onto her wall next to her bed, it was tradition for her to have photos on her walls. She put up her favorite photo frame of her parents on the shelf by her bed and smiled. She would unpack her clothes later she was way too tired to do it now.

Courtney pulled out her phone from her pocket and sent a quick text to Madison;

"Just arrived, where are you? I've missed you so much, seriously need to hug you until you pop!"

Jamie smiled, and set his bags against the wall. "Oh soon trust me. I've already started ordering the kegs, and I left all of the entertainment here. It's in a secret spot, hush hush stuff ya know?" He crossed his arms, and leaned his boot against the wall. He could tell David had a thing for Madi, which was why he was awkward currently. "Yea it's packed in here, I've been sitting in that parking lot for the past few hours. I didn't feel like coming in." He looked at his watch, then back up at the two. "So David, think you'll be a little more socially active this year? Your pretty cool."

David laughed, "You can co-" He was completely cut off by Madison, who suddenly interjected, "Sorry! I gotta meet up with someone real fast! Catch you guys later!" She said smiling and turning the other way. She had fun messing with David, it might just become her hobby this year. She smiled, flipping her hair as she left and feeling pretty empowered. She looked at her phone, and looked at Courtney's message. She sent a message back to her, "omw 2 hart. do me a favor and pop me : )" She responded, putting her phone back into her purse as she crossed campus. On her walk back she saw Dakota reading on the quad and sneered at her mentally.

Nicki walked into Hart Hall. "Is anyone here?" Nicki asked. She was holding some suitcases.
"Oh uh, sorry." Madison said, having almost run into a girl as she walked into Hart. She studied her body language and smiled, "New, right?" She teased. It was going to be a long year, most of these freshman look clueless as ever. She paused and sent a quick text to Courtney, "Downstairs." and put her phone back in her purse. "I live in this hall too, my name is Madison. Second story."

He crossed his arms, smiling comfortably, "I hope to. Every time there was a party or dance, something just got in the way last year. Still had tons of fun, though, but I want to have more." He responded finally. "You're pretty cool yourself, so can I count on you for an invite?" He smiled.

"Hi I'm Nicki Queen. This is Hart Hall right?" Nicki asked.

Courtney was snapped out of her day dream by a familiar ping of her phone. She looked at it and read Madison's text and smiled excitedly while her fingers quickly tapped in a reply.

"Watch out you're about to be popped!"

She giggled to herself before closing the photo album she was looking through with pictures of her and Jamie. Even though she broke up with him she found herself greatly missing him. She pushed the book of memories under her pillow before checking her reflection quickly in the mirror and walking out her room; locking it behind her.

Courtney practically skipped through the corridor and down the stairs, but as she saw Madison she ran towards her with her arms opened wide while screaming "MADIIIII!" before colliding with her best friend and hugging her tightly.

"Yeah, you've found the right place." Madison responded, luckily finishing her sentence only moments before Courtney greeted her. "Court! You loser!" She teased, loudly laughing as she swung her arms around her friend. This was one of the only people Madison had missed all summer. Madison was still a ball of giggles as they hugged, returning the tight squeeze. "Ugh, I needed you like ten minutes ago." Madison admitted, pulling away from the hug and fixing her hair. "Let's not go to the Student Union for at least another thirty minutes, or ever, actually. But we can talk about that later." She said, speedily talking. She was absorbed in catching up with her best friend until she saw the lost girl in her peripheral vision. "Oh, sorry. This girl lives in Hart Hall too. So if you need like extra shampoo or something, you can hit us up." Madison said to Nicki, halfway introducing her to Courtney. She didn't want to be outright rude and ignore her, but she also just wanted to catch up with her best friend.

Jamie smirked, as Madi walked away. His attention onto David now. "Of course man! Glad to fully emerge you into the Regis party and prank fun! You should really be in Darine, we have hella fun." He smiled charismaticly, looks weren't a issue for him.

"I almost stayed in Darcine, but something about Osborne won me over. Maybe it was the girls." David joked, smiling back at Jamie. "I'll invite you to any Osborne party, as long as I get in on some of the Darcine action. I bet you guys even have something planned for today." He looked around, then, making sure he didn't see any other Darcine guys around him, ensuring he wasn't about to get pranked himself. "I couldn't just switch out of Osborne though, I have too many memories in that basement lounge." David smirked, "I'm pushing some of the seniors in the dorm to throw a party tomorrow night, but we'll see where that goes."

Jamie nodded, "Y'all don't party as hard as we do, you know estrogen kills parties sometimes?" He smiled, and nodded "Thanks man, I think I'm gonna organize a pick up game of football. Tackle, but no pads, you know the stuff Texans do after thanksgiving. Your welcome to join us." As he thought about it, he remembered Courtney, she enjoyed watching him play, as much as he enjoyed her drawings. He still kept a small drawing of his favorite tree on his ranch she drew for him that previous summer.

David laughed, he didn't exactly want to bring up that he was from Texas too, so he just nodded along to Jamie's statement. David was about to comment when he noticed Jamie fall silent. "You good?" David asked, his own smile fading as he studied Jamie. The guy was a lot bigger than he was, and the Darcine guys he knew probably had the same build as him. David subconsciously raised a hand across his chest and felt his shoulder. He looked scrawny, that's probably why Jamie threw in the Texan thing when he invited him. David broke from that train of thought, focusing back on Jamie and letting his hand fall back to his side, he didn't want to look too nervous. "I'll be up for a game, sure."

Brice Tang

Brice arrived on campus for his third year here at Regis. It'd be his last if it weren't for transferring from so far away and having to make up for it in the new curriculum. He was far from home, so it took a six hour flight to get him here, layovers and all. Honestly, that was probably the part he hated the most about coming back to school - the travel. He had enough of planes in his lifetime; that 18 hour flight from Taiwan to the US being more than enough. He was pretty sure he had jetlag to spare at this point...

In any case, that was the hard part, but getting on campus and getting his stuff was easy. His things stayed at a storage facility near campus and his parents just paid to have them bring his things to his room. Hopefully they had dropped them off earlier today before he arrived. The only thing he really had on him was a large bookbag full of some extra clothes or trinkets he wanted to bring along that he didn't have before, and a cup of coffee in his hand.

The hustle and bustle of other students moving in surrounded him as he casually trekked toward Osborn Hall. He was admittedly drowsy from his long flight, but he also didn't want to miss the hype and excitement of returning and everyone's reuniting, especially with there being new students on campus for free target taunts. His effort to spot familiar faces was so-so. If he went unnoticed or didn't see anyone, he couldn't say he didn't try. Besides, it wasn't like he was drowning in friends. Acquaintances? Yes. But friends were a number countable on one hand.

Glancing down, he noticed his shoe untied and sighed. How even? He had just spent most of his time sitting... He only shrugged before spotting a bench with a solitary girl sitting on it. Perfect. A place to sit his coffee and hike up his shoe. He went over to the bench and did just that.

Jamie snapped from his trance, and clasped David shoulder. "Yea I'm good, hey meet me down here at noon, I'll have the rest of my crew ready for the game." He grabbed his bags, and wheeled off towards the Darcine dorms.

Dakota Reed

Dakota looked up from her book after a moment, and then hurriedly looked back down. She didn't get a great look at his face, but she felt like she knew him. She pretended not to notice, unsure of what to do, and tried to keep reading, until she paused. This is what old Dakota would do, she thought, and she bit her lip. She flipped the page rapidly, trying to look absorbed into the novel, and not like she was nervous. She tried to look at the male through the corner of her eye. She had seen him before. She flipped another page, lost in thought, wondering what to do. She didn't want to sink back into being who she used to be, it was the start of a new year after all. Her eyes widened, it was Brice Tang! She blinked, turning her head to look at him now as if she had just noticed him. "Trice Tang! Uh, Brice, Sorry, I can't talk- uh, Brice." She suddenly said, her eyes wide. She was obviously nervous, but then broke her straight face with a smile and a laugh as she closed her book, "Sorry, what? I meant to say Brice. Did you just get in?" She asked, calming down slowly.

David Reyes-Shaw

"Oh sure, of course!" David responded, nodding his head and smiling. He was a runner, but he probably wouldn't survive a dog pile of beefcakes and muscle. He waved the dude off and took a minute to chill out and sit down on a couch in the union again, thinking the last twenty minutes over and over again in his head. It was going to

Jamie unlocked the door to his dorm, he had special permission from the headmaster to leave his dorm alone, since he won the school a basketball championship the previous year. He sighed, relived to be back to what he called home, and jumped onto his freshly made bed. He layed there for a few moments, thinking about what he'd do to pass the time. Maybe try and meet up with Madi, he needed to get her up to speed about him and Courtney. He sighed, pulling his wallet out, and staring at the picture. This picture was one of his most precious possessions, surprisingly. He grumbled, he needed to change. He rolled out of his bed, and made his way to his suitcase, he'd have some freshman unpack his bags. He pulled out a red V neck tshirt, he'd keep his jeans on, and pulled out a pair of converse. He didn't need to go all out on this game, plus he really didn't need to try. He quickly changed, and looked in the mirror. He stood there for a moment, taking in his reflection. "Damn I've changed since freshman year...." He gave himself a sheepish smile, something no one has ever seen from him. He sighed, and left his room to find a few freshman boys. "Hey children! Names Jamie Kirk, better learn it well! Now go unpack my bag, or else I'll make this year a living hell for you both." They quickly nodded, and rushed behind him into his room.

A small, but bubbly girl finally arrived, giving a quick kiss to her mum before heading off to her new school...full of people she didn't know. Celeste knew she would have EXTREME trouble making friends but "Who cares?" she thought. She silently exited the car and gave a soft smile and wave to her after taking out her luggage. She noticed a lot of faces looking her way, and she immediantly got scared for she thought the issue was about her height. With that note, Celeste quickly left the car lot and scampered to her dorm. Being probably one of the shortest people on campus was terrifying, with all the people swarming the hallways. She finally reached her dorm and opened it to find that there was no one there yet. Was she going to be alone all year? Although it was quite possible, she had arrived a tad eariler. She didn't care that much and began unpacking and organizing her room to her standards.

Brice Tang

Brice flinched, caught off guard at the sudden exclamation of his name. His mind had been so preoccupied with its own clouded world of fatigue as he laced together his shoes and was paranoid of his cup tipping over. --And paranoid he rightfully was as the cup toppled over toward the girl, his arm accidentally bumping it when he flinched.

"Ah! Shit!" He swiftly put his foot down and snatched up the cup. "Sorry. It didn't get on you, did it? I have napkins in my bag..."

That was when he finally looked at the stuttering girl. He had thought her voice was faintly familiar... "Dakota." He smiled lightly with a friendly little dip of his head then took a sip from his cup, now a little less full than the last time it touched his lips. "It's okay. I know my presence can be a bit intimidating," he teased with a smirkish smile. He could tell she was nervous, but also knew she was generally a quiet girl anyway. "But yeah, I just got here. A bit late compared to most, I know. Traveling's a bitch." He took another sip of coffee. So, when he was tired, some of the notches of his personality were a little more turned up than usual; his mind could be everywhere at once and his mouth wasn't very filtered.

Dakota Reed

Dakota looked down at her pant leg, some had definitely gotten on it, but she thought it was more work than it was worth to try and ask him for napkins. She put her book down over the stain and smiled when he recognized her. She listened, lightly laughing under her breath at his comments. "My parents dropped me off this morning, so it was probably a little easier on my end. As, uh, compared to your trek." She mumbled towards the end, it was a bad habit. Her hands idly picked at the binding of her book, she looked down pausing. Already beginning to worry that she was boring and wasting his time. "But still, waking up at ungodly hours just to drive to Regis isn't worth it." She laughed, "I mean, not like, I just. School is a drag at times." She tried to clarify, and then gave up and laughed at her own speech blunders. "I guess I'm more tired than I think, I can barely talk." She admitted, and then apologized, "Sorry, I don't know if I even make sense."
