The Purple Islands in Southeastern Kiresi.

+History:

Rakkunians descend from semi-nomadic tribes that inhabited the Southern Kiresian mainland known as Knoagu; These were known to hold  advanced camps (applying cloth tents and wooden structures) near rivers and work horse militia for hunting and defense, but they were heavily libertarian. Their culture gave a lot of importance to an individual's choice over personal matters, allowing the staying members to hold high morale and unity, but many decided to leave their tribes for personal pursuits; Knoagu population was never high because of this, but the distribution of their customs and ethnic traits is very widespread. Constant conflict in the continent was hugely detrimental for them; being less focused on their ties to the land and supremacy than their counterparts, the tribes opted for leaving in favor of a place were they could be left in peace. Many movements took place across the continent in an event Rakkunian historians denominate as "The great Exodus".

Amongst the subsets of tribes considered in this period, Rakkunians were a slightly homogeneous group consisted mainly of fishermen and builders. They left the continent altogether to the Eastern Islands; settling across the sea, with a particularily large group occupying what they called the great island of Ambara. K'naga was built as a strategic port on the extreme East of the island; being close to both the fertile islands of the Eastern sea and having many options for foreign trade, but it outgrew itself through migration and expansion due to its economical success across the centuries. Many people of Knoagu heritage would eventually move to Ambara, populating the rest of the unoccupied lands and strengthening the culture with relative diversity. The cities of Edea (West of the Iron mountains) and Takkube (In the first Island east of Ambara) were eventually founded and an alliance was agreed between them.

Administration for the islands was harsh, though. Cities governed themselves independently and the growing threat of invasion preoccupied the leaders, who saw scattering as a potential weakness. Pirate raids were common and the ever-growing organization of raiders instaurated the need of a centralized government. Thus, a rotating Monarchy was agreed. The leader of each city's court would be put to vote whithin the councils across the alliance and the winner would be crowned alongside its city. Under the first mandates, a Navy was established, a Constitution was ratified, Towns were settled and Urbanization was set ablaze. The commodities led to important scientifical developpements, such as the discovery of gunpowder, a variant of greek fire (which Rakkunians call Ole'Kkuro) and a wide collection of seafare nautical techniques.

The Empire, for all of its good things, affronts high inner rivalry. The major cities, often ideologically contrary, have such a high esteem for self determination that they've often put out the idea of leaving the Empire to become autonomous again. In ironical tones, politicians and writers of all major cities joke about how "The very principles of freedom that originated the population of Ambara seem to be the very ones that might tear it apart" and, although tremendously uncommon, Absolute Monarchists propose solving this problem by making abdonement impossible through a totalitarian government. However, common goals, a deep sense of mutual interest and respect exist frequently amongst powers and almost always between the people. Currently, Emperor Edeos, Major of K'naga, is the seventh Holder of the Crown of Rakkunii. The young emperor seems to be less isolationist than his antescesors and sees great potential in his country for growth. He believes that Rakkunii, for all its potential for strength, should remain a stronghold of freedom for everyone across Vialesh.

+Leader:

Emperor Edeos Kenna'ii, Major of K'naga, Seventh Holder of the Crown of Rakkunii.

+Culture:

A saying goes since the first settlers arrived to Ambara:

"No man is an island, but no group is a continent."

Some Rakkunians practice many cultural exercises coming from the Knoagu tribes. For instance, wearing decorative chains around the ankle, colorful vests and light coats. These are often considered old-fashioned by the cityfolk who often prefer exciting and trendy imports, but paradoxically, these choices of style have outlived diverse currents of fashion. They remain open minded and accepting of all new information they can get and, although most are very vehement around their convictions, they love being proven wrong and introduced to new information.

They're also highly individualistic. There are a wide variety of aspects (religion, ideology, sexuality, etc.) that are considered elements of significant personal concern that neither the state or society should try to meddle with. There isn't, as a matter of fact, an official church or political party; public figures must make their way into seats of power through their own means and temples hold shrines for different gods of many distinct cultures around the world. They are hostile to what they concieve as ideologues; people who follow schools of thought instead of building individual convictions. The idea being that, to change someone's mind, it is the inner-self that must be convinced through reason, not the outer-self through cohersion or pertenence. Monks and traditionalists have a hard time in the cities, but they're greatly respected if they can hold a heated discussion.

This being because they are skeptic and, less admittedly, scared of mob mentality. Historian Ole Kamawi'a, a popular scholar of pre-Ambaric lore and privately, a very snobbish man, noted in one of his texts that this was a concern even amongst Knoagu who saw tribalism and in-group puritanism as a primordial need to escape the mainland. In his commentary book Reliving the Exodus, he wrote:

"[...] Savage as they were, the pre-civilized people in the South of Kiresi fought, not because of justified disputes over the fertile lands in the neck of Gala, but because of their prideful incompetence to negotiate and  compromise in the keeping of borders. These small conflicts lasted for centuries on a relatively small scale, but they grew to remain a problem even after the death of Wise Oratoga. [...] The Knoagu foresaw, long before the Great Plague, known coloquially by continentals as 'The Ghast', how these petty fights would stunt the valleys into a heathed zone of brutishness and pillages; perpetrated and maintained by the behavior of men whose conduct resembled that of an unreasonable pack, killing themselves over reputation with the excuse of land, when there was plenty to resource of. In their soundness, the ancestors of Rakkunians left the region through the lands and sea, eventually expanding to Ambara and the Northern Region of Kelinka."

Kamawi'a was heavily criticized for his remarks on the Western region, particularily on the sensitive times of the young Empire's bloom. To this, he replied, that he had the upmost respect for Oratoga and the way he had pacified the region through civility; but it was important to recognize the reality long past; even if it meant, in his words, "a bit of rudeness to a despicable conception". The writing of Kamawi'a reflects pretty well the boogeyman of Rakkunian society; a vehement and unjustified sentiment of belonging can lead to suffering for a lot of people, and a descent to wild behavior.

Nevertheless, they also see huge benefits to possitive, constructive relationships. The brotherhood between the main cities has highly elevated the standard of living of the average citizen and trade, as it is said, doesn't restrict to goods and trinkets. Whithin the cities, Rakkunians enjoy passionate debates, diversely opinionated writings, expressive arts from all corners of the explored world and elaborate cooking. Townspeople lead calmer, less strident lives, but they're not devoid of fervor, meaningfulness or big philosophical ideas; living, often, with summarized and essential versions of the cosmopolitan life of Takkube, K'naga and Edea. Most cityfolk, often engaged in noisy, stressful routines, move to the smaller towns at certain points in their lives, bringing their property and, with it, capital gain. Scientifical developements take place in towns while Social Academia resides inside the urban areas.

+Type of Government:

Constitutional Monarchy.

+Strengths:

-A powerful navy. The siege and defense of cities on the shorelines and maritime battles are extremely effecive.

-A stable economy, relying principally on fishing, agriculture, mining and trade.

-A common language throughout the territories and strong ties between the population.

+Resources:

Wood, Fish, Farms, Iron mines, Horses, Cattle, Water, Rosewood, Oaks, Granite, Marble, Cambria, International goods and Sea Extracts.

Assets:

-The University of Nefelicci, located in Takkube, is a stronghold of general research. Visitors are encouraged to come and hold open forums on their topics of expertise and most technological developements in the Empire are held there.

-The Southwestern bay has a beacon that's set for travelers in the Galian Gulf. It is 64m tall (210ft) and was built throughout the governance of 3 emperors.Tourists are welcome on the first floors, but the upper ones are heavily guarded by Edean security. The Tentacle of Iuu'ba (name given to the beacon in honor of an octopus sea god in the region) serves as an observatory point to regulate coming ships. Similar structures exist around Ambara and the Eastern Islands, but none is as big, famous or old as The Tentacle..

+Population:

2,392,580 People (Approximately 567,000 live inside the current capital, K'naga. 430,000 Inhabit Takkube and 422,000 reside in Edea. The rest of the population lives in towns across the territories, mainly concentrated in Ambara).

+Military:

Rakkunian Military is mostly naval. Given their connections to ultramarine trade, they indulged in ship protection measures to the point were they developped a highly efficient fleet named the Royal Rakkunian Armada. Amongst the classes of boats they possess, garrisoned galleons can be found in other variants, these ships can count with sniping cannons, Ole'Kkuro, harpoons and small, tortoise boats with resistant steel covers; hard enough to deflect several hits by cannnonballs, light enough to keep the boat from sinking. There are 421 total boats; 260 Galleons, 90 Tortoise boats, 90 Fire spitters and 21 Long cannon carriers. Enlisting in the army is optional, public education requires all citizens to know basic sailing skills.

Ground troops are strong, but not as much as the navy. Mainly relying on the techniques of the ancient Knoagu tribes, the Royal Groundtroops consists of trained horsemen equipped with sabers and enlisted foot soldiers. The techniques, however, haven't developped much since the days of tribesmen due to inland safety. As a way of solving this problem in case the navy failed (an unthinkable idea amongst the proudest nationalists and most generals), there are, in varying degrees, garrisons and walls throughout population centres. As an offensive solution, gunpowder has been integrated into an inventive new weapon. Mentioned by her designer, Yuri Ayo'mashe, as "A mighty cannon of the navy, carried in the hands of a citizen". However, these aren't widespread and there aren't enough resources to arm the entire army. Only 2,100 high ranking soldiers are in possession of these muskets and, even so, a limited ammount of bullets is available for each. The function of the Groundtroops is that of a gendarmerie rather than an established army and Edeans, being the fondest of the continental lifestyle due to closeness, interaction and sympathy, integrate 81% of the units.

The Groundtroops consist of 122,000 units. The Navy has 91,000.
