Morah is a world of monsters and magic.20230817_002535.jpg
Out of all the creatures in Morah there are many that cause fear in mortals just from name alone.
Undead in its various forms like liches or vampires, giant beasts in the sea like the Krackens, forces of nature like Dragons that occupy whatever territory they fancy. But of all the monsters one could stumble into... None match the aberrations known as a Beholder.

Most regard them as ridiculous stories, those who survive seeing one describe them as large floating eyes with monstrous teeth, using magic like nothing else can. Every story is similar but different. These Beholders hide away in vast dungeons riddled with traps and monsters serving as minions. That's the usual, what changes in each account is the Beholder's abilities. All it takes is the monster to see you...
It's stare is said to nullify any magic, they are also capable of paralysing a target, creating thralls of their enemies, slowing it's enemies, shooting beams of disintegration and other such nonsense. These creatures fly are capable of intelligent thought, speaking and generally kill anything that walks into its lair uninvited.

Whatever they are, scholars philosophers and whoever has seen one in person all agree that these monsters are not of this world. Some even suggest they warp reality itself...
Recently the world as we know it has experienced some changes, seemingly overnight.

Towers have started popping up across the lands, each the same design and sporting a Beholder made of fire or ice on the top. Various types of monsters show up to protect these towers wherever they appear and kingdoms across Morah are getting more than concerned. Each day that passes results with new towers and more monsters.
These changes bring truth to a ridiculous theory. "A Beholder is capable of changing reality"

The month that followed was one of hardship and fortune. A gold rush opportunity for Adventurers, Mercenaries, anyone brave enough or capable of destroying a tower and the elemental Beholder atop it would be rewarded accordingly. Many died looking to prove themselves and earn riches, those to survive became known as legends. Regardless if it was a lone warrior, a coordinated team or a small army.
If those who set out with the goal of destroying a tower return, they returned as heroes.

Unfortunately towers appear faster then any can bring them down, a emergency summit has been called and rulers of each land aim to attend in the hopes of finding a solution.
After a week the summit concluded... they determine this is the work of some Beholder mastermind hidden away changing the world how they see fit. They think said beholder must be hiding in the Draconik isles as that is the only known places towers haven't appeared. The plan being they all would assemble those who have destroyed a tower and create groups of heroes to investigate Draconik Isles to find the mastermind. These groups would travel hopefully taking down towers along the way. Hopefully one of these teams can kill the monster responsible, or at the very least alert others of its location.
==================
Should you want to play you would be making one of these heroes sent off to save the world or die.
It's a medieval fantasy adventure but I'm tossing up on the magic system to use...

I want to go with my old reliable, as it's the soft magic system i usually use akin to avatar's bending or quirks in the sense most sentient beings are born with the ability to use one sort of magic.
Bob was born with fire mana, he can use fire magic.
Sally was born with water mana, she uses water magic.
Harold has mental mana, he can use telepathy. Etc etc
Racial abilities usually at play here, humans and most beastkin have random chance of any mana. Other races have specific magic/abilities.
Adding on to system is the option of using magic via crystallised mana known as runes or enchanted items/ artefacts.

The other magic system is another soft magic system with its own simplicities and complexities.
Essentially you have three types,
puppetry, empathic and elemental.
The most common of the three is known as puppetry, named so because one needs objects to control with verbal command. Standard tools of a puppet user is a weapon or rope.
To throw a dagger and tell it to "fly"
To throw rope and tell it to "bind"

The other types of mana are considered rare.

Empathic magic is all about feeling and manipulating emotions.
Empathic mages range from respected doctors/therapists and criminals using fear to their advantage.

Elemental magic is considered the most dangerous. It involves creating a vessel out of a element for your will to be done.
One can't just throw Fireball, they make a bird of fire that flies into its target to explode...
One can't shoot a spear of ice they make a frozen wolf that charges its prey...

If you'd like to play post below with what magic system you'd rather. I'm hoping for five or six players but I'd be willing to start with three others. Post requirements would be two paragraphs or more twice a week.
I'll make a CS page and Ooc if enough interest is generated to justify posting more threads.
