Prison Break

Under a lot of pressure rn
spacestation5.jpg

Welcome to Site Epsilon-Omicron-17. This site is a massive space station, whose purpose is to house criminals in a secure location away from the other law abiding residents of the galaxy. The prison is technologically advanced and strictly run. Its warden, J'axx Neshrac, is a veteran of running jails, and keeps the prison under an iron fist. The site is guarded by both normal prison guards as well as an elite security force to respond to any incidents. The prison houses approximately 20,000 prisoners of all kinds of different species. The prison and its facilities are located on the outer ring of the station, while the administration, armories, storage, etc. is located on the inner sphere, which is heavily guarded. The prison both raises its own food, as well as received shipments of supplies from neighboring planets. The prison employs both normal contractors in order to maintain it, as well as prison labor. The prison houses a whole variety of criminals, such as simple scammers and thief, all the way to dangerous murderers and terrorists.

There has not been a single escape attempt in the 25 years the station has been running, and its staff would keep it that way.

Nathan laid on the surface of his jail bed and stared up at the bare white ceiling of his cell. To him, the worst part of the gigantic space prison so far, in the week that he had been there, was its white-ness and cleanliness. It was just so...boring. It didn't help that the schedule was so monotonous as well. His schedule simply consisted of him sleeping, waking up, eating, hanging out in the small section of the jail during his free time, and then going back to sleep. The worst part was that this probably wouldn't change any time in the next few decades of his sentence. The prospect of having to live through this tedium for so long ended up taking its toll on Nathan, even though he had barely been here at all. Even now, he was too apathetic to think, and he just continued to stare blankly at the wall. After a few minutes of this, Nathan turned and stared through the small window in his high-strength jail door that enclosed the room, and observed the prisoner across of him. The prisoner, his name Nathan didn't know, was taking a nap on his bed. He looked perfectly human, except for the fact that his skin was a dark blue, and had an intricate green pattern inscribed all over his body. That was the only thing redeeming about this prison. The prisoners were all so diverse, hailing from countless worlds all throughout the Alpha Centauri system, and it had almost helped offset the dullness of the prison. However, even the most unique of prisoners became uninteresting when you're locked in with them for a long time, and you plan on being locked in with them for even longer.

It wouldn't be so boring, if Nathan had been able to get a job of some sort. He needed something to focus on, rather than doing nothing. Unfortunately, many other prisoners though so as well, and jobs were extremely competitive and hard to come by. Nathan was well aware of some secret alliances and gangs among the prisoners, and that all the money earned through jobs went to them, and they often controlled who got the job. Anyone they didn't like was found bloodied and beaten on the floor of the showers, with no suspect to blame. Nathan had thought about escape, but in such an advanced facility, he just simply couldn't conceive of a way to start.

A klaxon rang, signaling lunch. The jail doors on Nathan's block, B13, all slid open automatically. Prisoners filed out of their cells, and a throng of chatter filled the prison block. Before he left, Nathan glanced at the white walls surrounding his room, and considered banging his head their several times. He would bleed, but at least the cell would have some character. But before he could think of it further, Nathan stepped out and joined the moving crowd.
