Crumbli
the Tea Time Tyrant
- Name: Elrich Typhanos.
Age: 63.
Gender: Male.
Species/Race: Summer fae/Human.
Kingdom of Origin: Elysium, the kingdom of light.
Occupation: Chapel Maester.
Alignment: Neutral good. - Appearance: Elrich has fair hair, pale skin and emerald green eyes. His nose is pointed and his ears are flat to his head like an elf’s but have the clear structure of a fae’s. He stands tall above many others but his frame is thin and often considered to be frail due to his struggling under the weight of his chains and large sigil.
Personality:
Morbid is his primary trait. He believes that death is the next chapter of life and that the remains of those past shouldn't be feared or kept secret. He wears his beliefs on his sleeve and often reveals everything he sees to those who need it. He offers help whenever he can but finds blasphemy to be one of the sins most unforgivable.
History/Bio:
Born of Elysium from a human father and fae mother, Elrich received the standard childhood start to life. His mother worked as a nanny for one of the minor houses in Elysium and his father served as a siege engineer in the Solar storm. His father was one of the rare few who was blessed enough to return home on a regular basis.
By age twelve he was taken in to the local clergy in Alvia and raised in the light of Lumin. He was a choir boy at first but his fixation with the light drew him to a different interpretation of the message of luminosity. The clergy members punished him for his belief that the dark was also part of Lumin’s domain and that death was simply the passage into the light.
He remained in the clergy until he was twenty, studying not only the book of light but the arts of magic. While he abhorred dark magic more than anyone in his clergy, he wondered if its power could be used to magnify the light of Lumin. Through fear of heresy however, he kept his hypotheses to himself.
By the age of thirty the war came knocking and his clergy had to sacrifice those able bodied to the war efforts. Elrich was among eight men sent off to fight. While he was the only mage, he was taken into the ranks of the wards as a lowly scholar but in time his magic grew greater. With extensive training and devotion his magic was on par with many of the wards in only two years. Impressive all things considered.
By forty his magic was growing exponentially and while many other mages reached a certain level and ceased studying, he didn’t. This is where he began to really define himself as the man he’s known to be today. He began to wear long dark robes and often stood nearer the front lines in battles. His radiant light seemed to darken and instead of bright searing gold it was a pale, consuming blue. He’d entrance many of his enemies in the fields of battle in this blue light they couldn’t escape and strike terror into their faithless hearts.
Rumours spread of heresy among the ranks and he was not only removed from the wards but sent to trial for practice of the dark arts. After days of trial and thirty seven accurate retellings of the book of light, he was released. By this stage he was teetering on fifty.
He attempted to rejoin the wards but was rejected on the grounds of being accused of heresy. He was disgusted by this. He rejoined the clergy of his home city in Alvia and continued to practice his faith. To honour his service and the sacrifices made by his brothers and sisters in the army of light, he began to hold midnight services exclusively. These services would feature skull censers and deep chanting where the only light present was that cast by other priests. His belief in Lumin intensified in these so called dark masses to the point the clergy deemed him too unstable to be a priest.
A ridiculous claim to be sure. He was hurt once more and to show it, lashed a large sigil of the church to his back with chains digging into him all over. He marched all over the lands of light proving his devotion and gaining other fanatics. They too carried heavy sigils and slaved away under the light of Lumin to prove their willingness to sacrifice their well being in the name of the gospel.
Two years ago these fanatics arrived at the capital city where their devotion scared many and intrigued even more. They weren’t shun for heresy like they were elsewhere but instead praised as being so devout that they’d sacrifice everything for nothing more than the satisfaction of being faithful.
Elrich was given a position in the capital city as a chapel maester and told to cease his constant march. He was told his devotion could be used in the capital to hunt out heresy at its roots and the dark themes of the chapel often drew any blasphemer inside. All books are written in the sacred language of Luminian and most of the monks speak no other language to ensure devotion. - Equipment:
- Armour: A thick black robe overtop thin brown underclothes. His robe his hooded and often covers his face. Upon the robe are small skull clasps and literal strips of tapestry with magical words glowing upon them. On his back lies the large sigil of an iron halo and in the centre lies a small star to show that the night is still in his protection.
- Weaponry: The book of light and the very chains he’s damned himself with to show his dedication and servitude. The book is incredibly heavy and is used to channel his magic energy. It’s theorised that the book itself is what turns his light blue but few others seem to know how to channel their magic through it despite him offering.
- (Trained) Fluent in luminian - A sacred language to the people of Elysium, Elrich speaks this prayer tongue with great ease. In public he may speak common but in the company of the upper class he will only speak in the language of prayer.
- (Trained) Grace and endurance - Having carried a large iron halo on his back for years, Elrich has become durable and used to extreme weights.
- (Magic) Burning repentance - A bright light lances its way in front of the caster and blinds anyone in its path. If the victim does not move out of the way but instead succumbs to the light, their chances of seeing ever again are incredibly slim.
- (Magic) Sea of light - An imprisoning spell capturing enemies in a sea of pale blue light. The light grows bright to the point they see nothing around them except the colour blue where the black robed and chained figure will often approach, striking fear and terror within them.
- (Magic) The next chapter - One of the only killing spells he’s ever known, the next chapter is a final solution. A powerful ray of blue light comes down over a set area and slowly vaporizes everything with in the region. While the spell is devastating it often leaves him exhausted and the guilt he feels is immense.
- (Magic) Familiar light - Capable of summoning a small light that follows him or illuminates a specific area. Again it’s coloured blue but produces a powerful enough light to reveal most things in its region.
- (Natural) Light magic affinity - Being half summer fae, he picks up light spells with relative ease. That said, he refuses to learn the more harmful magics and sticks to his trademark spells.
