Power Levels

That One Fear In My Enemy's Eyes
One's power level is represented by a number on power reading devices such as the Scouter used by the Saiyans. However, there are ways to measure power levels without devices. The ability to sense Ki for instance serves many throughout the universe well in keeping them out of harms way against more powerful opponents. An early warning system is always a boon, after all.

Power levels of various races increase at different rates and have differing effects based on the race in question.

Saiyans

As a Saiyan gains power, their body becomes more durable and capable of withstanding incredibly harsh punishment. Their Ki output remains fairly consistent and their power increases numerically are fairly consistent as well. The more the damage they take, the more power they acquire upon recovery. As well, the greater their power level grows numerically the physically stronger they become relative to others with the same power level. This means their physical attacks are greater in raw force than that of even a Frost Demon considering their power levels are equal on a numeric scale.

Frost Demons

The higher a Frost Demon's power grows, the greater their Ki output becomes making their Ki-based attacks much more dangerous and capable of causing extensive damage even when their power levels are relatively equal to that of their opponent numerically speaking. However, relative to their numeric power level their strength remains fairly consistent and, should they encounter a Saiyan who's power level is numerically equal to their own, they will have to rely primarily on their Ki-based attacks in order to win the fight.

Nephelem

The Nephelem do not rely on raw Ki output to fight. Rather, because they can move at light speeds, they rely on the sheer velocity and momentum of their attacks to cause great damage to their enemies. The greater their power level becomes, the faster their bodies process and rejuvenate Ki thus empowering their already blistering and mind bending speed-based attacks. Because of this, they don't need amazing levels of power to keep pace with more powerful opponents. A Nephelem with only one tenth the numeric power level of either a Saiyan or a Frost Demon has a fair chance of defeating them in combat by putting them through a battle of attrition and wearing them down with light-speed hit and run tactics.

Namekians

The power level of a Namekian has a direct influence on the speed and efficiency of their bodies at maintaining mental clarity and rejuvenation speeds. The higher their power level, the faster they can regenerate lost limbs and the greater their mental clarity and thus their ability to rapidly interpret the battlefield and strategize the best method of defeating their opponents.
