Basically, you are a leader of a rebel group in a post-apocalyptic, zombie-infested world, nineteen years after the outbreak. A reformed, fascistic government had arisen in the northwest, and seeks to push south and subjugate independent survivor towns and cities. As the leader of a resistance faction, you must make decisions for your group, and expand it by spreading the cause and attacking your oppressors. You also have to look out for your own skin, because if your character dies, or is ousted from their position as leader, it counts as a game-over.

OVERCAST: RESISTANCE

Nineteen years ago, the pathogen known as Reanimatory Necrosis essentially caused the collapse of civilization. Defying all laws of science, it brought the deceased back to life, and caused them to prey on warm flesh. You managed to scrap by in a community of survivors, who eventually managed to rebuild a life for themselves in the form of a functioning community. Schooling, food, water, even electricity became available again. And with the local militias and sheriffs, even safety and order was finally restored. Life was beginning to improve.

However, it eventually became known that the country's government, which now calls itself the
'Civil Provisional Authority' (CPA), managed to survive in a safe-region located up in the northwest. These 'Clean Zones' are comprised of many small towns and several large cities. Endless miles of razorwire, minefields, sniper posts and hidden machine gun nests prevented any survivors or zombies from the southern 'Dirty Zones' from entering.
For many years, the Clean Zones were in a state of isolation. They rebuilt their infrastructure and military while keeping the outside world at bay. Fearing hordes of migrants and potentially infected people from the Dirty Zones, anybody caught attempting to pass their border was shot on sight. An extremely xenophobic mentality set upon the Clean Zones' residents after many years of living in isolation, who began viewing 'Dirties' as savage, inferior people who had lost their humanity and civility with the apocalypse. This mindset was perpetuated by the CPA in the form of propaganda, and the ruthless extermination of all border trespassers.

Now the Provos seek to put its new military machine to the test. It has expanded south in an attempt to reclaim the Dirty Zones, and in the process has killed and subjugated many survivor communities. The imperialist CPA cares not for the independent settlements and city-states that existed for many years before their arrival. Democratic towns were overthrown and replaced with military dictatorship, with strict rationing and brutal executions for any survivor who disobeys.

You are now a resistance fighter who leads a group of rebel guerrilla fighters, who perhaps descended from one of the communities that were destroyed by the Provos.

Notes

Thread-wise, this is 1x1. However, this doesn't mean that cross-thread interaction can't occur with other potential players, assuming your groups aren't on opposite sides of the map. Still, expect this to be 1x1, with me essentially DMing. I will be controlling the world, environment, infected and NPC groups, as well as the problems and scenarios that you'll have to react to. I decide the outcomes of your decisions using logic and occasionally dice.
  • Aside from your own character, you do not control any NPCs; you lead them. The NPCs all have distinct personalities.
  • This roleplay takes place in a fictional universe, specifically in a Western-style country called the Central Republic. Do not reference brands, people, or places from the real world. Ask me if you have any questions.
  • If you decide to personally accompany your survivors in the field (for example, during a scavenging run or battle), they will likely benefit from your presence. However, you have the possibility of getting killed. If your leader character dies, then the RP ends.
  • Time goes by at various speeds. You can lapse into "character mode" where you actually play around ICly if you want. Otherwise, you can do things from "command mode" where you can give orders and get results relatively quickly.
  • I'll only do a few of these roleplays. They take awhile to set up. I can't stop you from poofing for no reason, but uh... y'know, it'd be cool if you didn't.
