TheOddball
Allons-y!
We'll have to think of a good title.

To say that Cassandra was excited was an understatement. When she walked through Oreburgh gate, into the city ‘full of energy’, she could hardly believe she was there. Of course, she had visited before. It was fairly close to Jubilife, where she had lived, but she was in Oreburgh for a different reason; to get her first gym badge. There was also a sense of relief; she wouldn’t have to camp for the next few days. She expressed such relief to the owner of a small inn within the city. His rooms were simple and inexpensive, and he had kindly offered to look after her camping equipment while she was staying so that it didn’t clutter her room.
It was late afternoon by the time Cassie had checked in, and she was a little tired, but mostly hungry. She knew that her female Starly, whom she had caught recently, would be in need of some TLC. Her male Shinx, who was always out of his Pokeball was casually sniffing around her room as she changed out of her walking boots into her more comfortable shoes. She also switched from a t-shirt and jacket to a jumper. Her Shinx jumped up onto the bed and curled up immediately.
“I guess I’m not having the bed to myself tonight” Cass murmured, not without a smile. She was used to Shinx being there, he was pretty used to it as well. For a few years they had been inseparable. She had found him one day out for a walk as if it had been fate. He took a liking to her and he was in need of a home. It was only after encouragement from family that Cassie began to train him and decide to go on a journey.
She picked up her backpack, flung open her room’s door and made her way out. “Come on you, we’re going to get some food” she called to Shinx, who at the mention of food, bolted out of the door. Cassie locked the door and giggled when she saw him waiting for her at the top of the stairs. He called to her loudly and she hurried along. The pair left the building and journeyed out onto the streets. The sky was crimson and there was a slight chill in the air. It was a good job she decided to put a jumper on. She examined the area around her. She knew which way the mine was located; it was evident with spirals of smoke in the distance. Cassie had seen the PokeCentre and the PokeMart on the way to the inn, so it was just the hunt for a restaurant or a café. Thankfully, it didn’t take long to find a small café. It was rustic, and had a number of miners around tables. The teenager debated entering or not, but spotting the odd couple and person her age, she assumed it would be fine.
Shinx found her a table in the corner, avoiding a Cranidos sat by its owner for various reasons. She ordered a ham and cheese panini, a cup of tea and a brownie for herself. They did a selection of Pokemon food, and she thought poffins might be a good option for tonight. She got Shinx a mixture of sweet and sour, as she knew he enjoyed it. For Starly, who remained in her Pokeball for now, she got sweet and mild. Once she had paid, she sat down and released Starly. The little bird Pokemon greeted her with a gentle peck on the leg and quiet cry. It was wholly friendly, which was pleasing. Cassie made sure both Pokemon were eating happily before she started on her own food. She gazed out of the window beside her, taking a bite out of her panini, and felt blessed to have a Shinx that didn’t only protect her and love her, but had the decency to give her a window seat with beautiful view of the outside world.
