Name: Andy Richter

Age: 18
Gender/Pronouns: he/him/his
Sexuality:
straight
Hometown:
(Region & town) Mahogany Town, Johto

Character: Andy is eager to observe the world around him and somewhat inquisitive. That inquisitiveness has made him very bright in terms of knowledge of nature but has also led to an unhealthy sense of danger because of it. Due to still being young, he is still a little naive, which results in him falling for pranks, such as April Fools pranks. However, when this does happen, he will see it as a learning experience and, in fact occasionally go along with it knowing full well that it’s a prank for the sake of humor. One example of this comes from Ratattas or other prankster pokémon hiding his items all over Mahogany Town, the pokémon themselves belonging to other trainers. The scavenger hunts don't bother him as he sees the pokémon as being playful or silly. Andy has high morals and won't allow anything to happen to his friends, going out of his way to try and settle disputes between other locals, even though it's clearly none of his business, telling the truth whenever he does something wrong, or just being around for people that have had bad days. This does lead to him getting into some sticky situations, however, such as people ignoring Andy during a dispute, at which point he will leave them alone.

Andy will start out shy to any person or pokèmon but will gradually warm up to them as time goes on and strive above most things to keep his friends happy, beware he will run away from anyone that lashes out at him. Battle-wise Andy favors being more on the defensive side, envisioning pokémon battles to be more like chess matches rather than matches of power preferring to pick his opponents apart with strategy instead.

History:
Born into a quaint, moderately sized house in Mahogany Town Andy was an introvert at the start of his childhood, clinging mainly to his parents, Bob and Martha Richter for protection due to extreme shyness. This led to him being homeschooled and learning basic reading, writing, and math from them. The parents wanted him to make some friends with any other kids at their favorite spot, which also happens to be where the parents met, Corsola Cove, around Mt Mortar, dubbed that due to the abundance of Corsola present. However, if they tried to help him he would run away without saying a word with a very scared expression on his face, thus leading the local kids in Mahogany to label him an oddball.

This continued until age 6 during one routine day at Andy's new favorite area. He was busy making little designs in the sand, with his parents watching him while they were lounging around. That is until a Water Ball pokémon popped its head out of the water. The Azurill, as identified by Mr. and Mrs. Richter who still carried pokèdexes just in case, merrily bounced up to the trio with a squeak. This was Andy's first encounter with a pokémon so initially, he recoiled away from it. The Aqua Mouse Pokémon just waved its bouncy tail at him, smiled and squeaked once more which made Andy more cautious now more than afraid as he reached out to pet the Marill of which it took full comfort in. Bob and Martha saw this occur and became overjoyed that their bundle of nerves seemed to have taken a shine to a pokémon and potential new friend. After a whole day of play by Andy and his newfound poké-friend, Azurill, the Richters got ready to return to Mahogany Town. Before they left, she squeaked again, waved using that tail of hers and walked back into the lake.

From then on, Andy slowly became more outgoing. By age 10 thanks to repeated visits to see Azurill, he was at least being more vocal with the Mahogany Town locals, unless it was the first time meeting a person, in that case, he would start out timid but warm up to him or her after a few minutes of conversation. Andy's homeschooling was going well too, he was learning Middle School levels of reading, writing, and math. Though he was homeschooling well, he wasn't as interested as much. His love of nature though never really diminished still wanting to go to places along Johto such as Corsola Cove, Ecruteak City, and Olivine City, as well as keeping an eye on his neighbor's potted plants.

During the year before his 16th birthday, Andy’s adventurous side started showing up. He would sneak out during the night to explore the areas around Mahogany; not going too much farther than that because he didn't want to worry his mom and dad, he was very respectful of them after all. He yearned to head to the rest of the Johto region learning about the many cultures and pokémon present throughout with his own pokémon, little did he know they both were planning quite a surprise for him. On his 18th birthday, the parents let him have a chance at his own adventure, before all that though, was the usual happy birthday Andy followed by the birthday cake and presents which included a backpack, a shell bell, a flashlight as well as a very special, secret surprise that Andy's parents decided to keep secret from him, a certain blue mouse. The soon-to-be breeder was very excited about all the goodies until he remembered he still needed a pokémon. Suddenly, he heard a familiar sounding squeak. He lit up like a Blitzle charging up a Thunder attack. He picked up the Aqua Mouse and paraded around the house and hugged it followed by the parents for getting his first real friend. Andy became ecstatic, he now had everything he needed to start his adventure; with that, he bolted out the door with all the gifts and Aquamarine, an affectionate name for his first pokémon, in tow for the Santoris Region after one last goodbye hug from his parents.

To think this all started upon meeting a tiny little blue mouse

Reason(s) for Santoris Visit: The main thing here is curiosity. Just what was this Santoris region like? What pokemon were around in the area? The itch to explore new regions and learn about them from pokemon to culture is a prevalent reason, he does aspire to learn to back as well so maybe opening up a bakery could be in the future? It certainly will be a bit tough given that trying to use an oven the first time while younger almost resulted in the house being burnt down.

Background Check
Character:
For many years Guy was someone who lived his life by other people's rulebook, anything he was told to do was to be done- and his life was controlled by someone other than himself. Eventually, he grew tired of it and shed away most of that blind obedience. Upon meeting him, the first thing you might notice is the overall bored expression he bears- and the seemingly apathetic or distant gaze his eyes hold. Due to that alone, it would be easy to identify him as someone who appears passive, or even disinterested in most things. In truth, while both of the aforementioned statements hold some truth behind them, it would be easier to say that he is unerringly calm. Paired with his somewhat cynical perspective, it only serves to further the possibility of being completely disinterested in the world around him or that he's merely a loner.

Because of this heavily reserved attitude, he seems to be a relatively quiet individual in most instances. In most of his life, he rarely gets angry for his own sake, though he does show to get irritated often. Typically he tries his best not to outwardly showcase his emotions, but his eyes tend to be more telling than he'd like for them to be. Often this leads to his own introspective nature, where-in he lingers on the thoughts or feelings that he would never admit affected him. Surprisingly he can be rather kind and cares deeply for those who stick around him long enough. Hinting towards the fact that he's empathetic to others, or even holds some degree of sensitivity towards them. Usually this results in him giving uncharacteristically insightful replies to such individuals, but can just as easily lead to him doubting if he were even in the right line of thinking.

At his core he is a self-sacrificing individual, often thinking of himself as lesser than those who have a goal in their lives- those who have a brilliant luster to them. As such he often attempts to help push others towards their goal, frequently at his own expense, after all, there's no need for them to worry about his goal if a path to their own can be pursued. This mindset is hardly praiseworthy, and even if someone did praise him for it he would have a hard time accepting it. In spite of this, he still jokes about in a sarcastic manner- though his willingness to bluntly state things may put him as being more sharp-tongued than most. However, this is all a statement of Guy's personality, due to his time acting it's entirely within his capability to shift his personality to better fit the 'role' people are casting him as. A natural charade born from many years of playing the part of something you aren't. Then again, even this remnant of his obedience could be claimed as yet another point of his personality. In time, as all things do, he might just change... if only a bit.

History:
The first sound he could hear was the shuttering of a camera, as the flash of light stung at his retinas. Ever since he could remember there had always been a camera there, his life being lived snapshot to snapshot. But it couldn't be helped when your parents were both cameramen, and obsessed with the idea of capturing their children's lives on film. To make matters worse they had applied those very same children to a talent agency before they'd even hit eight years of age. It wasn't long before he had been given his first gig, a network wanted young twins to be in a live-action show they were planning. It just so happened that Guy and his twin sister Celia were the perfect fit, and this started their time as "Corrin and Taliyah," a troublesome pair of kids who would serve to entertain for years to come.

It would be a few years until a magazine, similar to Poké Chic, appeared and requested that they act as models for it. More pictures, more fake expressions, and an ever-growing pile of instructions on the 'correct' way to be. As a kid they were blind to the 'normal' way of things, most of their 'friends' had been fellow actors- and their school-life was done by a teacher who would swing by the house whenever they weren't gone for shoots. In the brief free time they had, Guy would regularly spend his time down by the ocean of their hometown. One day he had a fateful encounter, as he was walking along the beach he had noticed a fish flopping on the sand in a feeble attempt to get back in the water. The spotlight of the sun was scorching it, and it looked as though the fish were losing its will to fight. Guy quickly ran over to it and helped it back into the ocean- soaking himself in the cold water as he did so.

This was the start of his friendship with the strange purple fish. In the summer that year there had been a slight break and using a small portion of his earnings he had purchased a ball to put his feebas friend in. It was a rather expensive one that the teller had called a "Luxury Ball," but he had only bought it because they said it was the most comfortable for a Pokémon to be in. His parents had gone with him to see their son catch this mystical creature that he had told them about, only to find the unattractive Feebas staring back at them with a vacant expression. "Are you sure that you want this ugly... thing?" His mother had asked as her son squatted down into the waves. "She's not ugly! Yeah... I want her to be my friend." Whether intentionally or unintentionally the Feebas bumped itself against the button of the pokeball and was caught willingly?

He'd reached the age of sixteen, and the most recent film he was in had finished production. The numerous seasons of television he'd been in, along with the roles he'd been chosen for in movies, had been enough for him. Having given many years of his life to the industry his agent had pulled some strings and he left acting behind, leaving Guy with a hope that as he grew in the next few years of his life he would gradually fade into obscurity. But his parents didn't want him to step out of the spotlight entirely, so he still acted as a model. Celia had remained in the acting business and had gone on to become an even bigger star- overshadowing her twin in this degree by a large margin. On the other hand, his focus on the modeling career led to his own rush of popularity- every fashion magazine from Kanto to Santoris likely featured a picture of him. While prepping for that day's shoot something in the makeup they were applying had caused his face to break out terribly. With the extensive claim that he was fine, and that they still needed to continue the shoot- he'd managed a way to continue the shoot without showing his face. This was the birth of the "Masked Model." Perhaps due to the mystery, this persona quickly gained a following- and people raved for more of it.

Much to the discontent of Guy himself, the agency had made a decision for what they thought was best. It was announced to the public that Guy Danse had retired from the model industry, and this mysterious figure seamlessly slipped in to replace him. To congratulate his 'retirement' Celia had given him two Pokémon eggs, siblings from the same clutch of eggs from what he'd heard. In the years that had led to this point, Cassia had developed a prism scale- and after many poffins and pokeblocks had managed to evolve into a Milotic. So adding a few young Pokémon to his group wouldn't be a problem. The energetic Minun and Plusle hatched a week later, and their playful nature drained what little energy he had left.

At eighteen he had chosen to leave home, transferring to the Santoris branch of his agency at the request of his agent. Granted, he was the last of the twins to leave home as his sister had already left to live in Kalos. His role as the 'Masked Model' remains even to this day, through some miracle of arceus it has gone without being leaked. All the while, he frequents the contest hall on Pythiana island. Not to participate, he's just a spectator for the event, granted most of the regulars know him there on account of the cheerleading squad that refuses to stay in their pokeballs... and the sparks they produce. In his time here a few groups have taken interest in him, though these have received a mixed bag of responses- depending on who's reaching out.
