I'm kinda reading Dracula now (it's an on/off thing; I keep switching between it, The Longships, Harry Potter, and LoTR), and this reminds me strongly of him.
He used to make me really uncomfortable and creeped out. I'd look up something genuinely creepy, instead of a tiny deformed actually adorable kitten, but it's 12 AM and I wanna sleep tonight.

It's not the image itself that's creepy. It's more so what could happen. If I were driving down this road I would have so much anxiety. It's just so open and empty. Anything could happen and no one would know.
